Satellite S50T-B950 - can't dim / brighten screen with function key

Hello

So, I can't decrease or brighten my screen with function key. Although things like the volume and function key still works.

Someone at - it suggestions that I could try? I can't see all the options on how to resolve this problem within the program of 5500 intel HD or in my AMD catalyst thing.

Anyone ever had this before or have a fix for this?

Thank you

Can you please tell us which model of laptop and operating system do you use?
Are you using the original operating system that you got with your machine or you have installed the clean version?

Did you remove something from your system?

I think you might return the system to the point of time at the beginning using the internal windows system restore option.

In system properties, you will find different tabs
The 4th called System Protection tab button: System Restore
Now, you will be able to choose the system restore point (date) that you want to load.

I guess this will restore the WLan driver too.

Here's a suggestion on how to do a 'clean ': install
    [quote]
For testing purposes, it is best to install Windows "clean".
It is, basically, install the way that Microsoft intended (with the drivers from Windows Update).
This procedure is for Windows 7, Vista is similar (but has 2 service packs)

You will need your installation/recovery DVD (s) before you start.  Once you wipe the hard drive, there is no going back!

1 back up all your data.
It will wipe everything off of your hard drive, so what you want to keep should be backed up elsewhere.

NOTE: If this is due to an infection, remember to analyze the data with current antivirus to another system to locate and remove malware.

    2. connect the system to the internet (if the system shows then disconnect from the Internet, do).

    3. use one of these free utilities to wipe the hard drive:
    DBAN ( http://www.dban.org/download )
    KillDisk ( http://www.killdisk.com/downloadfree.htm ).
This will also remove the system recovery partitions - so the installation/restore DVD is essential!

4 install Windows by booting from the installation/recovery DVD - DO NOT change any settings!

5 visit Windows Update and get all updates

    6. check device for all unknown/disabled devices Manager - if there are unknown disabled devices, secure them with the latest drivers from the website of the manufacturer of the device (not the PC manufacturer)

7 visit Windows Update and download the Service Pack 1 (normally under important updates).  Read these notes for installing SP1: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2505743

8 visit Windows Update and get any other available updates

9 download, install and update a free antivirus, so it does not get infected during the test ( http://www.carrona.org/freeav.html ).

If problems persist, then the problem is probably with your hardware.

Warning: If you have an Asus motherboard, check the date on the file C:\Windows\System32\driver\ASACPI.sys.  2004/2005 is a problem, 2009,2010 is OK.  Updates are available on the Web from Asus site.

Warning: If you have a Sony system, make sure that you do NOT have the 2007 version (or earlier) Extension of Firmware of Sony Analyzer (SFEP.sys).  To update this driver immediately!

  • Satellite A660 boots up to the black screen with blinking cursor not upper left

My new Satellite A660-10W sometimes (not always), when turned on, boots up to a black screen with a flashing cursor in the top left. If I stop by pressing the power button, it stops immediately. I then wait a few seconds and press the power button again and then it usually starts very well.

Could it be updated during this process and I'll be more patient (usually wait a few minutes) before shutting down when this happens?

Usually something like that shouldn't happen. Satellite A660 is no different from all the other models and OS must be loaded shortly after Toshiba welcome screen appears.
Do you use your laptop with factory settings or you have changed something?

  • How can I get a screen with only nested handlers for scrolling?

I have a single screen with only nested boxes that does not scroll. No fields or buttons, just displaying data.

The funny thing is, the screen does not scroll at all.

    I tried a combination of:

    super(Manager.VERTICAL_SCROLLBAR | Manager.VERTICAL_SCROLL
                    | Manager.NO_HORIZONTAL_SCROLLBAR
                    | Manager.NO_HORIZONTAL_SCROLL);

Any thoughts on why the screen is not Ahmed with only the data displayed?

The screen does not scroll because he has no reason to scroll. BlackBerry auto-parchemins the field to receive the focus (or, more specifically, the focus of the field - field text rectangle has this rectangle around their position of slider, for example). There is no other mechanism of scrolling integrated for non touchscreen devices.

If you have no Focus field, you can scroll through your Manager / screen programmatically with setHorizontalScroll() / setVerticalScroll(). Decide in what way is more acceptable to you.

If you want to display some text (help screen?), put it in one (descendant of) TextField, FOCUSABLE and READONLY and let the user navigate through the text with the cursor. Remember - even if you can't change RichTextField, you can make it active and allow the user it work very well.

    Good luck!

  • Satellite P750-10 t - (Eco, WLAN, Volume, etc.) function keys not working not

    Hello world

    I have a problem with my Satellite P750-10 t (PSAY3E-02000KGR, Windows 7 64 bit, German-language edition).

The "Function keys" top line, naming Eco Mode button, WLAN button, program Start button, Play/Pause button, Mute button and Volume-/ + buttons stopped working a week ago. They light up correctly when starting the corresponding modes (e.g. Eco Mode lights up green when the Eco utility is in Eco mode by mouse) or when turning on keyboard backlight, but they do not react on the touch of the finger.
As a result, I am unable to use WLAN because I can't turn on the WIFI laptop feature.

I already reinstalled Toshiba Flash Cards and value-added package of programs without success.

You have any suggestions to solve the problem? Thank you very much.

    Best regards from Germany,

  • Cannot adjust the brightness of the screen with the keys Fn on new L540 (8.1 x 64)

Hello everyone. I just bought a new L540 with 8.1 of Windows x 64 on it and have met a problem that I see is apparently common. While my other Fn keys work as expected, I can't adjust the brightness of the screen with them. By pressing the buttons just does nothing and the laptop is in running at full brightness at any time, even on the battery. I installed the latest driver for managing power and from what I can tell, there is no version of the management software supply for something newer than Windows 7. I also installed the latest driver for the shortcut key (in fact, I installed all the latest drivers for this machine.) I read in another thread that this may be caused by the latest driver from Intel's HD graphics card but in fact, I can not install even this driver (said my system is not supported) so I always use the latest version of the driver Lenovo provided.

Can someone please help with this? I want to be able to quickly adjust the brightness of the screen when it is on battery, but I can't do it right now. Thank you!

I have the same problem with my L540. It started with the BIOS update to version 1.65. Because I have not found a solution, I went back to BIOS version 1.64, where all the brightness options are there and are working properly.

You can download older versions. When on the page with the new drivers (http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS037285) go to BIOS driver 1.65, then choose "learn more." At the end of the next page, you will see all the old versions.

You can install the version 1.64, you should choose the Option "Secure RollBack prévention" in the BIOS: restart the computer. When you see the option "to interrupt normal startup, press enter", press ENTER. Once more, press ENTER. Press F1 to enter BIOS Setup utility. Click on 'Security'-> then "update Bios UEFI Option'-> then"set RollBack prevention. " Change this option to "disabled". Press F10 to save the configuration changes and exit.

After you restart Windows, you can install BIOS 1.64.

Another possibility is to wait for the next version of BIOS...

I can't activate Windows Vista with OEM Toshiba product key (the key is wrong). What should I do? Steaker from the bottom of the laptop key

  • How can I change the parameters of function key?

How can I change the function keys on my keyboard so I don't have to press the Fn key each time? At the moment I put alternative functions such as volume and brightness but can not change it back.

This depends on the public services of PC manufacturer, but you don't say what kind of PC you have.

For Dells & maybe others, appointment on

1 Control Panel, Windows Mobility Center - there may be an element called line feature key with a drop-down list.  You should find it the value of multimedia keys & can select function keys instead.  The settigs will return to their value by default when you restart the PC.

2 restart in the BIOS & get the point of the multimedia keyboard .  This change to the function keys instead change the default behavior.

If your PC does not include these changes, then you will need to go to the PC manufacturer's support site to know how to do.

  • How can I disable the shortcuts of function keys on windows 8 so I can play properly?

I want to play gmod but anything that uses the function keys is unusable. When I Press f4 to display a Help menu, I get connected devices.

    Hi CatchallRat.

Thanks for posting of application on Microsoft Community.

From your description, I understand you have questions function keys on the keyboard.

You can't disable function keys because they are intended for use.

For additional questions regarding this issue I suggest you contact the developer of the game or the manufacturer of the computer.

If you have other questions about Windows 8 Please post them and we will be happy to help you.

This is VERY wrong. You can turn them off. So this help someone else who has this problem, you go to the Bios settings... Change the key priority of function... and restart. Vola!

  • Satellite Pro P100 can not get the screen to work again

If someone could point me in the right direction, I would be very grateful!

I bought a monitor to use when I am in the office (it's a LG Flatron L225WT), installed the software that came with it and plugged. Nothing seemed to happen, then in Toshiba HWSetup, I changed my power on the screen 'LCD + Analog RGB'.

To cut a long story short, the external screen works perfectly now, but I cannot access the internal screen, even after changing the power supply on the display to 'Automatic Selection '. The Fn + F5 key does not appear to have any effect at all.

I must have inadvertently done something to mess up the computer. Can anyone suggest how I could reset it back?

TIA to all who can help you!

    -Laurence

I put t know what laptop you have and don t know what OS you are using, but it seems that you have managed to set the external monitor as the main screen.
You should change in display properties (right click on desktop-> properties)

Somewhere in the settings, you should try to score the internal display (1) and should mark use this device as the primary monitor

You won't find any similar settings or this will not help then set the operating system to the point of time at the beginning. In this case all settings will be reset!
