Satellite U200: I am not able to burn DVDs

I have a problem with the DVD writer:

Since I formatted (and then reinstall with the restore CD that was with the computer at the beginning), I am not able to burn DVDs!

How can I do to get that!

And also, it's weird, instead of showing a DVD player, there are 2: one for the CD, a DVD, when it's the same thing...

I am able to read the DVD, but I am not able to burn them :(

> And also, it's weird, instead of showing a DVD player, there are 2: one for the CD, a DVD, when it's the same thing...

It's very strange it s confusing two s WEIRD appears in MY computer

What you could do is remove the player of ODD (CD/DVD) Device Manager, then restart the laptop.
Please check if the CD/DVD would be recognized correctly after reinstalling again.

    Hello

This path is not easy to tell if there is only a few small problem or maybe a malfunction but from your description, I assume that the reader can read but not write DVD media. In this case, it is really possible that the drive is faulty.

If you have tested with different DVD media and the different burning applications, I'm pretty sure that the drive is faulty.

    Hello

I m not very well if you need a CD/DVD firmware update and if this firmware update is available for you, CD/DVD player

First of all, you should test different drives from different manufacturers.
I had good experience using R TDK (CD and DVD) and Verbatim.

I noticed more problems with reading/writing using disks unnamed
That's why you need to test different media

In addition, you must remove the upper and lower registry key filters:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

    Try this!

    I have a Satellite P100 - 10 p using a carpet * a burner DVD UJ-850 s. I used to be able to burn CDs and DVDs.

    No more.

I can still read most CDs and DVDs. except a few types, where it says that the CD is empty/Virgin/new and offers to burn something on this subject. But he refuses to burn anything... CD, DVD, of a brand or type.

I don't know exactly what caused his or when it happened (I rarely burn CD and DVD), but the approximate time is after my machine automatically upgraded to Vista Home Premium SP1.

Apparently, I have the latest version of the driver software.

I tried all the usual suggestions including:
Delete upper and lower filters (there where no filter upper and lower in my registry)
    * Remove device from the list of devices and reinstall
    * Remove all software that might have interfered with the pilot

All the world is facing this problem? And found a solution?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

I assume that you have installed all the drivers for the Toshiba driver page. You also update the BIOS to the XP version?
You should do this if you have changed the operating system and if you use XP instead of Vista.

May I ask how you try to burn data to a DVD disc?
Are you using a 3rd party burning software?

I use Nero and I m very pleased it burns different types of CDs and DVDs.

  • Satellite A100: I am not able to use the keys FN - common module error

    HY,

    I have a toshiba satellite A100 series and I have a problem:
I'm not able to use the fn functions (for example fn + f9 to turn off the touchpad or fn + f3 to the eve and so on...) and I got an error concerning "common module.

A dialog box told me that the common module is closed...
    Someone knows this problem?

    I'm sorry for English...

    Thank you

    Hello

I put t know why this error message and why the common modules stopped working, but to my knowledge, the common modules are needed to run and use the FN keys for example.

    So here is my advice;
Go to Toshiba's European diver page, choose the common law modules, download, unzip, and reinstall it again!

After restarting again the FN keys should work again.

    Best regards and good luck

    Hello

    1. were you able to burn disc using Windows Media Player 11 earlier?
2 have you tried burning the disc manually?
    3. What is the exact error message you get?
    4. were there any changes (hardware or software) to the computer before the show?

Download the Windows Media Player 11 from the link below and see if the problem persists.
    http://www.Microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?ID=8163

Previously, reinstall WMP (Windows media Player), you try to burn manually.

Note: Yes, you can install Windows Media Player 11 from Microsoft, even if it has been installed by Dell. No, you do not have to remove the previous Windows Media Player 11, that it will update after you download and install from the link mentioned above.

    Hope that helps.

  • Satellite A660 - optical driver turns off when burning DVD

I have a problem with the optical drive of energy saving options that disables the drive while burning.

I tried all the suggestions mentioned here [http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/Satellite-Laptops-A-Series/Optical-drive-automatically-turns-off-due-to-power-saver/td-p/223654], but it does not help.

I start at the burn in Ashampoo Burning Studio free, and he seems to be good until the end. When it starts the process of lead-out the popup of the optical signals Drive Power drive is turned off. It's funny because it is still running at the speed of combustion and it will not stop. The reader becomes unresponsive, even I can't the DVD out. Even, that it disappears from the list of devices.

The only way I thought so far to stop the car and release the DVD is in the shutdown/Hibernate the computer.

Once the dive starts working again the STRANGE Fn-tab functionality started working and I can turn it on/Off/ejection at will.

All the burned DVD - s are not valid, and so far I have not managed to burn a single functional DVD.

    I have a Toshiba Satellite A660 - PSAW3E with Win7 Enterprise 64-bit.

Is there a way to fix this? Remove the optical drive power management?

    Hello

To be honest I have never heard of this issue, but it appears that the optical drive power management is part of the power of Toshiba configuration utility.
Part of the Toshiba value added package configuration done Toshiba power utility.

What you can try, for testing purposes, to remove the Toshiba added value of the system package, restart your computer and try to burn DVDs again to see if the same problem will occur again.

Toshiba value added package contains several tools such as utility cards flash FN so after his withdrawal, you will not be able to use the FN keys. In any case, after that trial, you can download and install Toshiba value added package again.

I mean, I know what kind of conflict is there, but maybe you should consider it.
