Satellite U205-s5057: Vista SP1 auto update?

On my Satellite U205-S5057 with Vista, I have the "automatic updates" turned on.
However he has never downloaded and upgraded to SP1.

I understand that it should not so until some driver software has been updated because there have been problems with SP1 unles blocking all drivers are up to date.
How can I find and I need to update the drivers?

Thank you rly

Hello

> But it never downloaded and upgraded to SP1.
Perhaps you have simply not noticed that SP1 is installed?

You can check if SP1 is installed on your portable computer by following these steps:

(1) access control panel
(2) select the system

Here, you should see your Vista version and a notice if a SP1 is already installed.
If it was not installed, choose the option Windows updates. You should find it on the left.

On the other hand, you could install SP1 manually. First you must download SP1 from the Microsoft page. After the download is complete, you can perform the update.

This might take a few minutes, but be patience. It is s ;)

Satellite U205-s5057 seems to be designed for the American market and to the United States from Toshiba should therefore be responsible for the release of the pilot.

The user above has already posted a link to the Toshiba page we.
Usually, pilots should be released there.

A single note; the A205 and other series of portable latest support new SATA HDD controller.
This controller needs a driver that allows to recognize the HARD drive during the installation of XP.

The SATA driver is part of the Intel Matrix Storage Manager.
This storage manager can be downloaded from Intel or the Toshiba page page.

  • Upgrade memory RAM of 2 GB or 4 GB on Satellite U205-S5057?

    Hello

    I have a Toshiba Satellite U205 - S5057 Intel Core 2 T5500 1.66 GHz, 1 GB of RAM

I want to upgrade the RAM and I'm not sure of what would give the best performance, 4-GB, or 2GB?

I know that 4 GB is probably better than 2 GB, but I wanted to know if there is a very big difference.

Worth the investment to upgrade to 4 GB?

    Furthermore, I have Vista

    Thank you

    Hi mate,

in most cases, 2 GB are absolutely enough since the Windows operating systems cannot take the advantages of more than 2 GB of RAM installed.

I mean, you'll recognize a difference between 1 GB and 2 GB, but when comparing 2GB 4 GB then won´t you notice anything (except a little differences when working with Corel Draw X 3 and loading of 3 or 5 GB of photos in Corel... ;))

So I suggest to increase your RAM and if you then want to put some larger HARD drive and faster in your machine from a disk faster HARD wins more performance, then all the rest in a mobile computer system.

  • Can I replace Vista by XP on Satellite U205-S5057

I have a U205-S5057 and it came with Vista on it. I got it at the Best Buy store where I bought it and asked them to put Windows XP on it.

They said it was impossible because my laptop would lose all internet capabilities so I put XP on it and it might lose my entire hard drive.

    They are correct?

Is it possible to replace Vista with XP on my laptop successfully? (I have an installation disc for XP that came with another laptop I have, but the drive does not work on the laptop compatible Vista.)

To be honest, I can't believe why some laptop dealers unqualified provides these erroneous and misleading information
Of course, you can install Windows XP on your laptop.

All drivers XP and tools are on the Toshiba page.
This laptop seems to be an American series and this is why you should use the Toshiba page for the download of the driver!

    Visit this link:
    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com/cgi-bin/TAIS/Su/su_sc_modSel.jsp

First you need to download the driver on the net, and then you could reinstall Win XP on this unit.

I think you must first include the SATA drivers in the installation of Win XP because of the SATA HDD controller. The SATA drivers are needed to recognize the HARD drive during the installation of XP.

  • Has managed to recover from the infinite loop restart Vista SP1 "configuration updates stage 3 of 3 0%"- but Windows Update always wants me to install Vista SP1!

WIndows Update asks me to install Vista SP1. I did and got into the infamous infinite loop of SP1 (infinite loop ' configuration updates stage 3 of 3 0% "with Vista SP1). I used F8 to repair my computer, and I chose a restore before the SP1 update point has been installed. The restore point has been applied successfully, so I have the computer in the back. Super. However, Windows Update wants me reinstall Vista SP1. Needless to say, I am reluctant to do so. But I want to be aware of the Windows updates. What do I do? TIA

1B. download the tool McAfee Consumer Product Removal, save it to your desktop: http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    3. right click on the file that you saved in # 1 above and select run as administrator to run the utility. DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

    5. ensure that the http://support.microsoft.com/kb/955430 and http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821 have been installed. (If they were, they would belong to installed updates. If they don't, try to manually download/install.

  • Noise of fan with Satellite U205-S5057

I can't find any practical solution on the web.

My Satellite is constantly the fan noise loud enough, even if little application runs.

Someone knows a good solution for this (apart from the replacement of materials).
This will be resolved by some BIOS settings or parameters of performance (energy-saving mode, etc.)?

    Thanks in advance

    * @ jomtones *.
There is no Toshiba Power saver for Vista! That's why you can't change these settings!
As you know, Vista has need of more resources and this would lead to an increase in consumption CPU/GPU and the high temperature. As a result, the cooling modules run more often.

  • Satellite U205 - DVD Player problems

I bought a Satellite U205-S5057 year last with Vista on it. For the first month, all video files burn very well. After that, I downloaded all kinds of codecs and trial versions of DVD burning software just got keep burning DVDs.

After all downloads, of course, they began to come into conflict. I ran a system recovery and hoped that it would be clean all conflicts. I put some videos on a CD - rw and transferred to my book burning. When I clicked on the D: / he said "D: / no request." Then I re-installed Realplayer on the internet and now it burns in Realplayer 1 out of every 10 tent or if.

Anyone know why I have so many problems with my CD/DVD drive? In addition, he always says D: / is a DVD player, even when I put a CD. Is this good?

    Hello

Have you tried to remove the top and bottom of the registry entry filters?
    Not? OK, try this:

First remove the CD/DVD drive device manager.
Then, completely remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters from the following registry key values:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Finally, restart the computer, and restart the system.
The Windows operating system should recognize the drive and it needs to be reinstalled again.

  • Window vista business 32 bit auto update not install SP1

I have Window vista business 32 bit on Sony Vaio laptop. My automatic update of the window is on, a lot of updates were installed, I can't find the SP1.  I checked the updates, saw "the view update history" but can't find SP1.  Basic information system shows no service pack. 'Winver' shows Version 6.0 (6000 building). All other window updates have been installed except "Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express edition service pack 3 (KB955706) who is still unable to install, do not know for what reason." I guess that there is no link between the failed SQL and SP1. It is after a complete reinstall of Vista 3-4 days back.

Prior to the relocation is in that the original version, Vista SP1 was installed automatically by the Update window.
I wonder if SP1 is already installed, but is not displayed or should I download and install it manually.

  • Bluetooth lost after updating Vista SP1 on Satellite P200

    Hello

    I'm desperate...

I use a mini Logitech dinovo keyboard like a keyboard for my P200. It connects via Bluetooth. My Bluetooth connection is a Bluetooth USB device provided with the keyboard. Until yesterday, everything worked fine, but then I installed the Vista SP1 and I lost the bluetooth connection. The computer does not recognize the device Bluetooth USB and bluetooth Control Panel contral disappeared.

I have one installed SP1, it does not solve
I have restore before SP1, it does not solve
Nations United installed the software of Logitech and re install, it doesn't work.

I downloaded and installed the driver from the BT monitor and it does not change anaything. I installed the drivers of BT stack, but it doesn't

    Please can someone help me?

    Much appreciated,

    WR

In such situations, there are two sides. It will be interesting to know if there is a problem if you try to connect another BT device to your laptop. Try it with your mobile phone if BT is available.
I can't imagine the BT device doesn't properly work.

Have you tried to contact Logitech technical support? Maybe they have the solution to this.

All you have done is OK, but I can imagine that that SP1 of Vista SP3 in Windows XP Home edition can perform or certain disorders.

Please check other BT device functionality and display the results.

  • Satellite x 200 SLi: I lost sound after Vista SP1 installation

    Hello
    I have a Toshiba Satellite x 200 SLi

After I installed the SP1 of Vista, I just lost sound and even update the audio drivers... I still have several problems such as: sometimes the sound stops, errors, try to display movies... etc...

Vista tells me that I have Norman for update my drivers but I already have the last avaiable driver on TOSHIBA page.

    Anyone with the same problem?
No idea how to solve this problem?

    Thank you

The problem is that Microsoft's Vista SP1 makes trouble. The problem is that not all drivers are compatible and fully supported by SP1.

I think you have a Realtek audio chip. Perhaps have you check the site Web of Realtek s the latest HD audio driver

If this doesn't help, then you will have to wait until the new update is available (or you will remove him SP1)

I tried to restore to before the time when SP1 was installed.
I updated the BIOS to the last on the Toshiba site.

    I pulled my hair.

Someone at - it any other suggestions?

It s certainly a useful information. Thanks again!

  • Re: Vista SP1 - cannot see in "windows update".

    Hello

you just bought Satellite A200 (PSAE6) and when I look at the updates, I don't see anything on vista SP1. I can do, or there is no need to download SP1?

    Thank you

    Hello

I agree with Jason. Sooner or later, you will see that SP1 listed in Windows update Center.
To install SP1, you must use the automatic update of Windows because the size is much smaller.
