Satellite U300 battery problems

Hello.
I just bought a laptop U300-130.
First time I charged the battery, I turned off the laptop and he showed that the battery is fully charged after 30 minutes.
Is - this normal - I mean so fast - (I started to recharge the battery after the battery was completely more)?
Same time, after that I turned on the device return it shows 95% remaining battery - why is not 100%?
And the battery is over for less than 2 hours (I'm not using speakers or play a cd, dvd etc.). type only! pls advise?

Hello

Please, just use the machine and Don t think about these things that you do. There is no problem, your machine works fine without errors.
The battery is already charged and proved to be so just leave the machine charge the battery, and the rest would be processed by electronic invoicing in the factory.

Look, now it seems very weird but a Lithium-Ion battery is such a complex device, so just let it work and it will work as it should. :)

Welcome them

Just got a U300. Beautiful machine, but it's impossible to use in a silent room:

    (1) CPU fan turns on and off all the time; It is calibrated to vary with the temperature of the CPU in a really annoying way: nothing in to 51 degrees, then half speed up to 53 or two, then full blast. Thus, on how high-performance fan continues to go and turn off all few seconds if you do a normal work. So far, the only solution I found is to create a power mode that sets the State of the max processor at 8% and a minimal State to 0%, while the CPU always gets strangled if temperature rises and does never really hot. Of course, this is not satisfactory.

    (2) the hard drive making noises clicking constant (no noise search). I had this before with another laptop, and it's because of the head of parking (car parks the head immediately when it is idle, to save energy). With the other laptop, it was possible to change a setting in the bios for hard drive, disable this special energy saving feature. I was not able to do this with the U300.

Someone has a solution or does anyone know how to communicate with the engineers from toshiba? Problem 1 is easily fixed with an upgrade of the bios setting fan behavior, problem 2 with an update of the bios hard drive, so it shouldn't take much effort I suppose.

Thank you very much in advance for any help / comments etc!

    Hello Skymaster

Satellite U300 is known to me because we have this laptop in our office. It is really nice for laptop and can be taken anywhere. What about these two problems described in your ad?

Cooling fan is perhaps often turned on but, in my view, it is acceptable. Maybe I see it a little different because we use them in our office and it's not so quiet. In any case, I use two laptops from Toshiba for the moment. One with Windows XP Home edition and Vista. I got two of them to work pretty quiet using level lowest for cooling and method using balanced in Vista power management and reducing CPU utilization. On two laptops I na? poor performance of notice and I don't understand why this is not good for you. Of course, I don't know what you're doing with your laptop, but I use it for Office application and I am satisfied.

On HARD drive, I can't write a lot because we na? t notice some serious problem. I don't think the BIOS update can change anything.

I don't understand why you want to communicate with the engineers. They can say, this is just to thank you for your report. I don't see any sense with it. What you need to do is to contact the nearest authorized service provider. Talk with them, explain the situation. They have Toshibaa? diagnostic tools and let s check the HARD drive or motherboard even.

    Good luck!

  • Satellite U300 - battery or not?

    Hi all

I just bought a satellite Satellite U300 and I hope you will excuse my ignorance, but I'm new in the world of laptops!

First of all, I would like to know whether it is better to use the laptop with or without the battery inside (I don't move my office). Some people tell me that it's better to let inside, some say it's better to use the laptop without the battery so the battery life will be extended and he'll always be ready for use.

Second, what happens when I leave the House for a few months or more? Should I leave the battery on the inside then or not, and what happens to my data if the laptop is turned off for so long?

Thank you all for your help and sorry again to ask stupid questions!

    Bebecigim

These questions are not stupid, and it's really interesting different opinions how you can find about it. Perhaps most people will not agree with me, but my opinion is that you should not remove the battery. Portable manyfacturers use the latest technology and batteries used today are much better from a few years.

What you can do is to occasionally run on power electric battery. I do it once a week. Just remove the power running and continue to work on battery power.

If you want to leave your laptop for months only thing you should do is to stop the laptop regularly using START > shut down option. Remove adapter from the electricity on the wall.
What happens to your data? Nothing. After a few months connect you your laptop to the power running, start your laptop and you will have access to all your data.
Just for example: I have the drive external HARD with all my important data recorded thereon. I don't use it so often, but all saved data are here.

  • Satellite U940 - battery problem

Hi, my battery LED doesn't turn on when it is plugged. My laptop is plugged in but does not support. AC adapter works fine. Is this a battery problem? Do I have to buy a new battery?

    Is this a battery problem?

    No doubt...

Do I have to buy a new battery?

If there is battery failure, the battery should be replaced.
But if your warranty is valid I recommend asking an ASP in your country for assistance... perhaps it could be replaced in warranty...

  • Re: Satellite T - battery problems

My laptop battery will not charge when connected to the power terminal. I also have to remove the battery to turn on the laptop, it turns with the battery connected.

Can someone give me some advice or do I have to return the battery?

    Hello

    The warranty is valid?
If so, then get in touch with a local ASP because I m not quite sure if it s only a battery problem.

Usually if the battery would be affected so you should always be able to turn on the unit.
I think there could be something wrong that should be checked by an ASP.

    Good luck

  • Satellite Z830 - battery problem

    Hello

Recently my SSD drive failed, I had a brand new spare so I replaced it. From the start it I had problems with my battery. The laptop works fine when it is plugged in, but if I remove the plug the portable ca goes out (like unplugging a desktop PC). The battery appears in Device Manager, the following figure:

    Microsoft AC adapter
Battery method control compatible ACPI Microsoft
    Microsoft Composite battery

When the power supply is connected, the battery indicates the charge and stuck a 9%, it is like that for days.

When you replace the SSD drive, I haven't touched another thing (well not that I know well), and made sure I have touch the SD slot (Earth static electricity). I don't know if that is the question.

The ultrabook is a little over a year old, and the battery was perfect before that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you very much
    Jeremy.

My opinion on this Satellite has a different design and construction so this Exchange should be performed by authorized personal only. On this virtual path, we cannot say much. Who knows what the problem is here.

In my opinion that it must be tested with another battery and just this way you can see if the battery is troublemaker, or anything else. I'm afraid you need professional help with this problem of Mr. contact nearest service Toshiba and let check battery and electronic power.

  • Satellite C650 - battery problem

    Hello

I've got this Toshiba Satellite C650 about a friend who gave me it reinstall Windows7.

Before you reinstall, I noticed that the laptop has not activate on battery. When I pluged the charger he started and it started once ran on battery without any problem. Also, when it is turned on and that the charger is removed the battery icon do not show how much time left and show unknown time remaining in place.

When I reinstalled Windows does not solve the problem.
I've updated the BIOS, but still does not solve the problem.
I started to think that it's a hardware problem.

The laptop is new - age one month.

I'll be very grateful if someone could help me or point me to the solution of this problem.
The laptop is still under warranty, but I decided to ask here first and here are some other opinions.

    Thank you!

    Try this:
Remove and disconnect the battery and the AC adapter.
Now let and don t touch the laptop for some time (2-3 hours)
Then press and hold the power button / stop along 30 sec.

Now connect the battery and the AC adapter and keep it charge until the battery indicator would turn to green (or blue)
Then turn on the unit and check how it works.

PS: its always recommended to calibrate a new battery, that means that the battery should be completely discharged and recharged until 100% was achieved.
This procedure should be repeated several times in the line

  • Satellite L750 - battery problem

I just encountered a problem with my laptop Toshiba which has wonder.

8 months ago, I bought a laptop Toshiba Satellite L750.
The laptop has Windows 7 Home Premium, 4 GB of RAM and processor Intel Core2Duo B960.
The laptop has met all my expectations and I was happy with it.

Last night when I took it out, I noticed that the battery had 45 minutes left on it such as measured by battery meter (which I know can be inaccurate). I wasn't worried because I had only a little to do but all of a sudden and without warning my laptop shut down on me.

When I came out the power cord and restarted, there is a warning near the battery icon in the Notification bar system that says something like: "there is a problem with the battery. Switch to HQ in order to avoid the sudden closure and loss of data.

Since I'm already on ca I do not worry and my laptop worked fine but I'm worried.
I've had my laptop for 8 months, and already the battery has failed?
    What happens here?

I know that they are not lacking, but I had computer last for 4 or 5 years.
My girlfriend bought a Toshiba (a cell phone different, I know) two years ago and uses here a lot more hard that I do and the battery's still going strong.

Is this a problem documented with Toshiba or just a stroke of luck for me?
Although I found a very cheap site price * cbatterie.com* I can certainly buy another battery, but I won't be happy if it fails in a short period of time.

    Any ideas on that?
    Thanks for all the help.

As you know autonomy has little time running. On some laptops, it runs on some more long.
We cannot say with certainty what the problem with your battery but watch carefully if the problem persists and if you are sure that the battery is at the end of his life during the first contact the nearest Toshiba service provider, explain the situation and try to get a new one for free.

  • On Satellite L750 battery problem

    Hello

I just bought a laptop Toshiba Satellite L750. The first turn on the indicator of battery said "plugged in, not support." So after reading the forums, I found that I had to update the BIOS I did and now charges the battery. BUT I get about 1 1/2 hours before battery time it goes up to 10% and tells me to plug into the a/c power.

Is this normal? Can I do to solve this problem?

For me these or not questions I should have on a 2 day old machine.

    Thank you.

    > BUT I don't have that about 1 1/2 hours before battery time it goes up to 10% and tells me to plug into the a/c power.

It is normal that if you don t use the battery optimized settings.
Battery working time depends on the use of the laptop.
If the battery needed to dump much faster racing game or a another high-performance application.

You can extend the battery work by reducing the brightness of the display, CPU, GPU and module cooling performance.

  • Satellite L300 battery problems

HI - having some problems with my Satellite L300-1BV girls and after some answers and advice please.

She let the battery drain completely and we now have problems when starting.

We left the laptop plugged into the power outlet to charge for more than 24 hours - when doing this DC light is green and pale orange battery. Finally, the orange indicator light goes off.

When it is then lit, while still connected to the hand, it starts fine but after no more than 10 minutes it just died - as a full stop.

It will then turn back not at all - even plugged in. Remove the battery, put it again and then it turns back on when plugged into sector but lucky if we get a minute before it just dies again.
If we remove the battery completely and connect to the mains it lights.
With the battery in, leave for another 24 hours and we go back to the original 10 minutes before he dies again.

    So two questions please

1 is this sound like the battery needs to be replaced
    2. on this machine, it seems that you can not use it plugged on the sector, but without the inplace battery - is that correct? I know that a lot of laptops will work very happy in this...

    Thank you... Derek

    Hey mate,

Which is really strange and I doubt that this problem is related to the battery only. In this case, your computer should work properly without battery and plugged in to the AC adapter.

Theoretically the laptop turn off itself due to a higher internal temperature. This is why I would recommend clean it with compressed air stream. This could blow out the dust from the cooling fans.

In addition, ask a maintainer agreed to help. It sounds like a hardware malfunction, and they can check what part needs to be replaced.

  • On Satellite A300D battery problem

    Hello friends!

Don't you know that we have guaranteed about the battery? I mean my battery runs for 15 minutes.
Can I have another for warranty?

    17-F A300D

    Thank you.

Satellite A300D is old enough laptop model so I don't think you can t get new battery for free.
For more information please contact the nearest authorized maintainer and clarify this point.

In the worst cases, you have to buy batteries and it can not be so expensive. Remove the battery and check the part number. Use Google and check prices in different stores online.

  • Satellite U300 - strange problem with volume control wheel

I bought a U300 last week and I find that the volume control wheel doesn't move very easily. It seems that you have to push it slightly to adjust the volume, and when you release your finger, the volume goes in the direction you moved to slowly. Everyone knows this?

In addition, when pressures above the express card slot the housing compresses. This happens on all the U300s?

I would go back to the store I bought in and ask, but I live quite some distance from him so I thought I'd see if anyone here could help first. All responded very appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Hello

Looks like the wheel is stuck and something around the wheel blocks the volume wheel. I think the best idea is to return the machine as you said, since it s very unusual described what you´ve.

You can also send your machine to a service partner chartered for an assessment of health/repair of equipment.
If you need help to find the one closest to your country, you can use the following link to find some:

  • Satellite L755 - battery problem - bogus battery Suspect

My L755 has always struggled with the battery life. Again, he only managed a little over an hour and it is not surprising when it started one day with an ugly red cross on battery and a suggestion that I might consider replacing the battery.

I went to Amazon and bought a "genuine Toshiba battery.
The battery arrived, is the number of right-hand side, but I was immediately suspicious because the battery had stickers on what doesn't look right and a date of production in 2010.

The sticker that bothers me the most, said it might contain cells NiCd, NiMH or Li - ion-
I'm sure that Toshiba are more professional than randomly building packs.

Of course, when it is mounted to the laptop I get a flashing battery and he shows no interest to start the system. I should give him a few hours to load and try again or go directly to Trading Standards to try to get the cowboy studied provider?

    Thank you

    Hello

Laptop should be able to start if the battery is empty, but connected to the power adapter.
If the battery is new, you should consider a charge any longer. But as said: even if empty sound, must turn on the unit and the battery starts to load after that the AC adapter is connected.

From my point of view and according to your post, it seems that the battery isn't ok.
    So recommend you to replace.

By the way: I recommend you buy the battery of the Toshiba authorized service partner in your country. In this case, you can be 100% sure that this battery is a product genuine and compatible with your laptop. Many internet retailers provide to low-budget and low quality batteries and sell these batteries as a product brand / article.

  • Satellite U300-11 q: don't dΘmarre without the battery

    Hi all,

I bought the model Satellite U300-11 q about a month ago, and I have the following problem: if I have it on current alternative, and I do not have the battery, it is dΘmarre! In fact, it loads the BIOS and just before it starts to load Windows (Vista) it shuts down, as if someone unplug it from the power supply. The strange thing is that after all attempts of 5-6 in the line, it starts, and it turns that I use.

Any idea on what is happening?

    Thanks in advance!

The laptop must begin properly with battery and without the battery.
    There should be no problem!

If the laptop does not start successfully without the battery, then there's something wrong. In this case, you will need to contact the ASP in your country for a control.
The guarantee must be valid if the laptop is only one month. So everything should be done for free!

  • Re: Satellite U300 hibernates when the battery is very low

    Hello

I bought my satellite U300 141 two weeks ago.
The computer is not put into hibernation when the battery is very low.

I checked the settings of vista, default 2% of the battery capacity, the laptop must Hibernate. But mine is not.
But I noticed that the battery level does not fall below 5%. I tried to change the setting of vista from 2% to 5%, but it has no effect.

Telephone toshiba support told me to update the package of the value 'stretched out' or something like that, but it has no impact too.
    the problem is still there.

    Anyone have an answer?
I also tried to update the BIOS, but during the upgrade process, the software told me that I can't because I'm not the administrator of the computer, I am sure I am.

so, if someone can help me please...

Please check first if hibernation was enabled in Vista power options.
Then you can assign to hibernation level up to 10%

Maybe then your laptop will be able to enter hibernation mode
