  I m afraid the BIOS update has no procedure and therefore the ROM chip has not updated as it should. This is the reason why the laptop can not start correctly.

  I have a Toshiba Satellite U400-217 (PSU44E) running Windows 8.

  Worked fine until a week ago. Now, when I turn it on, the lights are, there is a memory hard drive spin (1 second) - and then nothing. Above the keyboard lights stay on, but the screen remains black.

  I read a use Reset where you take the battery and the power cable on and press and hold power for 30 seconds, then plug the power cable in, starting at the top, stop, reinsert the battery and start again.

  However, the machine still primer not after 30 seconds the hold button. I always get just the lights and nothing else.

  I put t really know what problems you have with Satellite U400 but friend of mine has it and in my opinion the screen is as good as other portable also. I put t see any problems with the quality of the screen, everything is really good.

  It is important that you use the native screen resolution and 60 Hz. This will give you the best image quality.

  About these privacy filters I've never used them but I doubt that will improve the quality

  I have a Dell Dimension 9200 and recently every time I start my computer or it reboot, it takes 20 minutes to get to the desktop and also has a black screen. This issue has occurred only recently and I don't know what is the cause and so advice would be welcome.

  Other strange things include all my system restore points are missing and so I can't return the operating system to a previous date when it was working properly.
