Satellite U400-15E takes 3 minutes and 12 seconds to start

Hey everybody,

As the title says, my Toshiba boots Windows Vista Home Premium in 3 min 12 sec, compared to my old laptop (this one with XP) and laptop from my brother 1 min 42 s 40 s.

Is there anything I can do to improve this boot?
Its really annoying. Any update I should preform?

Hello

Of course, you can do something;
You can update or uninstall the Tempro (program) software that is preinstalled on your laptop.
In addition, you can disable some processes in msconfig-> Startup tab

These processes in the background and slowing down the Vista to start the procedure.

  • Motherboard for Satellite U400-15E work Equium U400-124?

    Hello

My graphics card died on my U400 - 124 & I said that the motherboard must be replaced.
I found one for a Toshiba U400-15 and I was wondering if that will enter my chassis.
It's ok if I have to reformat my hard drive & reinstall windows.

Here's what he said on that I found.

    A000060020
    Motherboard Toshiba U400 - 15th

    Compatible with A000027670 A000060020 31TE1MB01N0

I have attached a picture of my model below.

    Any help is really appreciated

According to the image of the Equium U400-124 belongs to the series of PSU42E

Satellite U400-15E belongs to the PSU44E, but both series are very similar, and I guess that the motherboard could be compatible... the presentation of the motherboard seems even if from my point of view of a few you should be able to install this card.

  • Satellite U400-15E - cannot start new USB HDD

    Hello.

Recently a bought a WD My Book external with 3TeraByte to use with my Satellite U400-15E. I can use inside Windows 7 Ultimate without problem. But if I try to boot from it (by pressing the F12 key), the BIOS does not even see the drive.

Is it because Toshiba does not use Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI)? UEFI BIOS can overcome the limitation of 2.19 to in computers today easily, as explained in the following Western Digital document:

This would allow me to use my new external drive to store an image Ghost drive HARD internal of my Toshiba for example. I mean 3 TB and more capacity is a reality today. When Toshiba updates their UEFI BIOS support?

    Material used:
    Toshiba Satellite U400-15E (BIOS v5.00 10/26/2010)
Western Digital My Book Essential 3TeraByte - Firmware v1.014 (USB 3.0 interface)
MS Windows 7 Ultimate - 32 bit version

    Thank you

    Hello

Satellite U400 supports devices to boot according to the user manual:
    USB FLOPPY DRIVE
    HARD drive primary school
    Optical devices
    Network (LAN)

If the USB drives are not supported.

But you're absolutely right Re: 3 to and a larger capacity is reality today, but Satellite U400 is older model laptop and not newer ;)

  • Satellite U400-15E: cannot use Bluetooth

    Hey guys

    Newbie here.
    I just bought a new satellite U400-15e.
    I did as follows.

The switch market and fn + f8.
Everything is on and without bluetooth installation came.

    All advice is appreciated.

Off topic, I bought my laptop in March, but when I registered it, it showed that my warranty ends in November? I thought it was a 1 year warranty.

    Help, please

    Hello

With regard to the question of Bluetooth:
Are you sure that your laptop U400-15E has been equipped with Bluetooth module to 100%?
Check the bottom of the camera! If the BT has been installed, then you should see a few labels of BT.

With regard to the question of the guarantee:
Usually you've got a standard one year warranty and it s is available on the first day of purchase.
But you can extend this standard warranty. If you would register the notebook on the Toshiba page then you would get, second year additional warranty.

  • Satellite U400-14 b turns off and now it won't start

    Hello

just got a new Satellite U400 this week.
Worked perfectly the first days, and then last night, it just turns off and now it won't start.

I press the button and the row of lights beside him light up, but nothing happens that I n t even get as much as the Toshiba screen.
I tried a lot of things. I left it plugged in all night, tried to take the battery and any results now.

Little led lights on the bottom indicates that it is his stuffy, battery is white not orange when you press they light up only for a fraction of a second.

The only thing I can compare it is too when a car won t start and you keep turning and turning the key, well in that case, pushing a button, and nothing happens, fans don t whir or anything...

    help please...

Additional memory (RAM) has been installed? Try to remove a memory Module and try another memory location.

If bad memory is not the problem, then there is not much else you can do except send it to an ASP for warranty repairs.

  • Satellite U400-183 - need Recovery DVD and AHCI drivers

    Hello

I tried to reinstall Win Vista Home Premium to my Satellite U400-183. I used a DVD OS Win that came with my other laptop to other manufacturing and the key that came with my Toshiba laptop. Everything works beautifully, but in some areas of Windows is still some specific parameters of the manufacturing on the other. Now is it possible to get a DVD of Windows Vista Toshiba?

Another question is where can I get the AHCI drivers. There is only an exe file on the support site which I can't use during the installation of Windows. There must be some these .sys files, but I can't find them on the Toshiba site, so I had to install Windows in compatibility mode.

    Thanks in advance!

PS: Sorry for my bad English, I'm from the Germany...

    Hello!

A new recovery DVDs, you can get your local ASP (authorized service provider).
Or you order a DVD from Toshiba directly:
    https://backupmedia.Toshiba.EU/landing.aspx

The AHCI drivers or let say Intel Storage Manager, you can download from the Toshiba site as you have already said.
The .exe file, you must check out to use during the installation, but with the recovery disk you n t need them.
Please read the readme file in the Storage Manager, there is an example how to extract it. Use the command line what it
    For example: - a - a - PC:------.

  • Firefox takes about 20 to 45 seconds to start?

OK, I have (just useful for me) extensions and firefox takes at least 20 to 45 seconds to start, I tried the preloader and it did not show a difference! Help, please!

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem.

    • Put yourself in the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance
    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode safe

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

    • Tools > Options > advanced > General > Browsing: "use hardware acceleration when available.

You must close and restart Firefox after enabling/disabling this setting.

I'll have this weird problem and did not find the problem. Suddenly my laptop (Lenovo Y710 - 4 GB RAM - Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit) crashes after a few minutes of activity, Vista freezes. CTRL + Alt + Delete does not work. If I force close to the bottom and then try to restart, it do display anything. I tried to start in safe mode, but after pressing f8 and it only beeps and still doest appear anyting on screen you. If I try to start the laptop after a few hours it starts again and minutes it freezes again. I noticed this problem for the first time when using RDP to my desktop, but it wasn't the first time I've done RDP. I have not installed new hardware or drivers. Am not able to nail the question, would appreciate any help.

    Thank you.

This is no doubt hardware failure. The laptop could be overheating and/or other components could be involved. Contact Lenovo technical support or take to a competent local computer Tech do not use a type of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad of the place.

If you have a pretty good level of computer skills, you can test some components yourself although it is more difficult to make accurate material on a laptop computer troubleshooting.

  • Why my audio stops at 59 minutes and 35 seconds in a five-hour video?

I love live record football games using a Hauppauge HVR-1250 and WinTV7.  Most of my recording works without problem, but I have two where the audio stops just a delay in the imported video.  The specific clip to which I am referring is 04:59:56 long.  If I play on Windows Media Player or WinTV7 clip, the audio is through the entire clip.  When I import the clip in the first items 12.1, the sound stops at 00:59:35.  I can see the audio tracks in the edit window pursuing towards the end of the clip, there is no audio ouput after 00:59:35.  I have this happen on another clip, import size 03:59:55, audio stops at 03:12:45.  This clip plays as well in Windows Media Player and WinTV7.  I thought it may have something to do with the length of the clip, but I was able to import and edit a clip duration 04:13:38 seconds.  Info from the machine is Intel i5 with 8 GB of RAM (RAM is 89% used while editing this clip). Treatment is divided into three local disks.  C: has 9 GB free, E: has 70 GB of free and K: has 52 GB free.  The item appears to import ok, even if it takes some time.

    Comments and suggestions welcome.

When you have made the file in your project, did wait for it to comply fully until you started to edit?

Try clearing/deleting the video file to your project and then reimport it in your project. Wait a few minutes so he could comply fully before you start editing. You can watch the progress in the bottom right of the interface of the program.

  • Satellite A300 1 5 stops instantly and then won't start.

Forgive me if I posted in the wrong section, but I do not know if this falls of virus and security.

Since about 3 weeks my A300 1 5 has been stop under its own, however, it does NOT close properly, all that happens is that when I'm in the middle of something (whether it's watching a movie, student or even the cat) he just stops instantly. When I say instantly it is just to stop in less than a second. There is no closing down message, or anything for that matter, he just blanks (as when it is extinguished, even the power button is not lit). When I try to turn it back on, it loads up to the screen telling me that it had closed badly, either because of a program error or that it was for security reasons. then it stops again instantly. It keeps it constantly and does not start beyond this point. My only solution is to remove the battery.

    1. I have Kaspersky Internet Security 2009, it is always up to date and I always perform analyses every 4-6 days to highest possible scanning depth.
    2. I don't have a virus, I tried to uninstall Kaspersky and resettlement and scan then again, which there still he finds nothing.
    3. I believe that something causes a memory dump, ALTHOUGH the laptop stops immediately, way too fast for a memory dump.
4 when he stops, he will not resume, it will charge for 30 seconds and then turn off exactly the same way.
    5. I tried to use Toshiba recovery to make a backup of my things (twice now), however, it's just down the middle of it.
    6. all possible scans of system health and material have been completed and there is no indication of a fault.
    7. the only solution is to remove the battery (to wipe everything in memory), however, I continue to have this problem.

Can someone give me an idea as to what is happening?

    Thank you in advance.

    Gokz777

I doubt that it is a virus or security issue. If you have a virus on the computer normally it doesn't stop instantly. It stops normally.

At the moment it is really hard to say what the reason is for this it could be an adapter AC/DC, battery, motherboard problem or something else.

You use the factory settings or you have installed your own Windows?
As Akuma has said, use the Toshiba or another original AC/DC adapter?

  • Satellite P200-1BA - HDD is faulty and Windows does not start

Fujitsu HDD diagnostic tool returned a FAILURE result. Who should I contact to do what? Throw the HARD drive and buy another?

The laptop was purchased in March last year and came up with this problem. It bothered me not far, given that the data written in these bad sectors and I have no problems. Because I accidentally deleted data, operating system written in these bad sectors and corrupts the data. Formatting the drive does not at all help, bad sectors are not detected by Windows Vista, only by the manufacturer's diagnostic tool. When asked to warranty on the manufacturer's website, it says it's expiration date is 10/09/10, but they do nothing about it, I have to contact the manufacturer of the system and tell him about this, because it's a VERY SPECIAL GUARANTEE: "serial number determined to be sold to a system with a single system warranty manufacturer and must be returned by the manufacturer of the system.

Anyone any ideas? Or should I just buy another HARD drive. Thank you.

PS: by the way, I'm not the only one having this problem for the same model of HARD drive.

    ´HI

Just a question: why didn t contact you authorized service provider?

I men if your laptop is still under warranty, you can get a new HARD drive for free. The ASP can order a new one and swap it out. All that s! :)

On the Toshiba site, you can search the nearest ASP:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

If your computer laptop isn't under warranty, you must buy a new HARD drive. But the s HDD are not that expensive.

  • After you install the service Pack 1 cd, s will not play for more information, then 1 minute and 10 seconds, and then it is said that ' nt read disc has a scratch. All updates are installed.

all this experience or know what to do-dvd works fine.

    Hi charly kotb,.

    ·         Did you the latest changes on the computer?

    ·         What security software do you use?

    ·         You receive an error message/code?

I suggest you follow the methods and check if it works very well.

Method 1: Follow the steps in the section provided.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/why-doesn

Method 2: Run the provided article fixit.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/cd_dvd_drive_problems/

Method 3: Put the computer in a clean boot to see if there is a software conflict as the clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Note: After installing windows update, follow step 7 in the link provided to return the computer to a Normal startupmode.

Method 4: Temporarily disable the security software .

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Also update the latest drivers for CD/DVD-ROM.
