Satellite U400 PSU44E - upgrade to 8 GB of RAM

Hello

I want to improve my knees to 8 GB mem.
There are two locations for modules of memory on the MB.
On the Toshiba site its written that a module can be improved.

Memory modules are 1,2,4,8,16...
How you can reach up to 8 GB of Ram when only a single slot can be improved.

Reminder: the system comes with 3 GB of RAM:

System memory
3 072 (2 048 + 1 024) MB | maximum extension: 8 192 MB | technology: DDR2 RAM (800 MHz)

Thank you & best regards

Hello

First of all, there are 2 memory slots that are extensible.
Secondly if your chipset would support the 8 GB of RAM then you use modules of 2 x 4 GB of RAM for the 8 GB of RAM.

In addition the 8 GB of RAM can be recognized by the 64 bit OS.
The 32-bit Vista will not recognize the 8 GB of RAM but only 3.2 GB due to the limitation of the 32 bit OS!

Greetings

  • HARD drive protector does not not on Satellite U400 PSU44E Win Vista Ultimate

    Hello

    I have a Toshiba Satellite U400 PSU44E

I have install Windows Vista Ultimate Edition, with a clean install.

I have download the good drivers for protector of HDD on Windows Vista, but an error message appears saying that the program is not compatible with this model.

Anyone with the same problem has this problem?

    Thank you

    Hello

I visited the European Toshiba driver page and didn t find the Vista drivers for the U400 PSU44E series.
Are you sure that you downloaded the good HDD Protection Utility to 100%?

At the other hand that this error message may appears because the HDD Protection Utility is not fully compatible with the ultimate edition of Vista
I read in some messages that this might be the reason also.

    Hello

I started a thread on the same subject:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?MessageID=126340

So for me it sounds like this, you should try to reinstall Windows again. After that, the problem should be solved.

Search with Google, you can find enough discussion about it. Reinstalling Windows can solve this problem.

  • Toshiba Satellite U400-14Z upgrade to a faster processor - which is the most rapid possible?

    Hello.

I want to upgrade an old Toshiba Satellite U400-14Z (http://www.toshiba.eu/discontinued-p...lite-u400-14z/) a little by changing the CPU. Initially there is a processor Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 with FSB to 1066 MHz but I thought to put there P9700 or P9500. It seems that they are similar, specification is exactly, except the speed and the amount of memory cache level 2. The question is: would this work?
I also found CPU called T9900, which is the fastest of the family. However, T-line requires more power than the line P, 25W to 35W in comparison. Is it possible that she would work in this phone?
Maybe there's even some CPU more Rapids that would fit. Y at - it all? I'm looking for the maximum possible speed.
    Thank you for the answers.

I found Intel® Core 2 Extreme Processor QX9300 who might be compatible. It has 4 cores and a thermal power of 45W design, compared to P8400 of TDP 25W. I suspect that the cooling of this laptop is insufficient to be able to disperse the money.

    Hello

You should get in touch with Toshiba ASP in your country.

Maybe the crisis disk BIOS could contribute to reflash the ROM module otherwise it could be possible that module ROM is damaged and motherboard needs to be replaced.

  • Satellite U400 PSU44E: Impossible record with Conexant Smartaudio 221

It has been possible to record audio streams on the net with Audacity.
After an upgrade to Windows 7 and updates for the drivers it is no longer possible. The sound has disappeared. Of course, I can always save the stream off the card, but only at a very very poor quality.

It is a problem of Toshiba and sound card. I can still save on my other computer with another sound card. As I need to register to work, it is a serious problem for me, and there should be warnings when customers update.

Is there a way to get around this? Are there patches?

  • Satellite U400 - 13K PSU45E Windows XP & 4 GB RAM

    Hello!

I have a Satellite Pro U400 - 13K (model: PSU45E-00800DGE), with 4 GB of installed RAM (800 MHz). I used to work with Windows Vista Business SP1 32-bit, which was the pre-installed operating system, and I could see all the 4 GB of RAM in the properties of "My Computer".

Last a few days and aftert 2 years of work with Windows Vista, I decided to downgrade in Windows XP Professional 32-bit, as I faced incredible problems with performance. Even though I had very low temperature on my proceccor carrots and only 4-5 open applications (Ms Outlook, IE, Adobe Creative Suite CS3 and a little more), I looked at my phone to freeze for about half a minute and still to come! I have spent many months trying to figure out what's wrong, I changed the machine, I reinstalled the system several times, but when there was a big load, that happened more and more often. So after reading a few posts on several forums, I realized that Windows XP need fewer physical resources for the same things and I decided to downgrade. It is only a few decades in time, but if I can work faster, that's OK.

Thus, we come to the question! After a successful installation of Windows XP Professional 32-bit, using the official, given restore disc with the laptop (it came with two operating systems of two bilingual English & Greek), I realized how fast he could be with Windows XP Professional 32-bit! I could ' t believe that...! Why I was using my laptop with Vista, all these years, I have no idea! The problem is with the memory, like that cannot recognize the 4 GB of RAM, even if they have installed SP3 and all updates provided Microsoft Windows. I'm sure that Windows XP Pro 32 bit can 'see' the 4 GB of RAM, as I had 4 GB of RAM with Windows XP on a desktop computer, I have no more.

I also tried the/3 GB and the/PAE boot.ini spends some time, but nothing else. The problem is that I do not remember what I have on my desk, or how that has memory, but I don't know that I had 4 GB of RAM in the 'Properties' window I searched on the net also to find a solution, but I couldn't find the boot.ini file switches and parameters of the BIOS, which is not based in the settings of the BIOS of TOSHIBA laptops.

Is a solution provided by some user/technician exprerienced, about this Windows bug?

Thank you very much in advance for your kind cooperation.

    Angelos Pitsos

I've never tried XP with up to 4 GB of RAM to be honest, anything over 2 GB should be more than enough.
32-bit operating systems can only address a total of 4 GB of RAM, why you can't access all this RAM is because the address space is also used for the system resources such as network cards, scsi controllers and graphics cards etc.

  • Satellite P100-286 - upgrade to 4 GB of RAM but BIOS only reports 3 GB of RAM

Hello, I would like to know if someone can help me...!

I have a portable P100-286 Toshiba with the following specifications:

    Processor Intel Core 2 Duo processor T7200 - 2 x 2 GHz processor
    2 GB RAM (2 x 1048)
NVIDIAÃ? GeForce Go 7900 (memory: 512 MB)
    Vista Home Premium 32-bit

    Full specifications here:
    http://UK.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/JSP/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?service=UK&DISC_MODEL=0 & highlightOption = 63188 & com decided .new = Yes .broadvision & PRODUCT_ID = 125204 #0

According to this specification, the laptop can handle up to 4 GB of RAM:

    "Memory system: standard: 2 048 (1, 024 + 1, 024) MB, maximum of extension: 4 096 Mo, technology: DDR2 (533 MHz) RAM.

I just upgraded using 2 x Corsair 2 GB of RAM Sodimm DDR2 667 MHz/PC2-5300. I understand that Vista 32 bit may not report all 4 GB of RAM (it is not, only 3 GB reports), but I understand that Vista Service Pack 1 can solve the problem.

However... confusedly BIOS ALSO notes that 3 GB of RAM. Does anyone know why the BIOS is not seen all the 4 GB? I tried to read about it online, and some advocate a BIOS update. However, many people also say it would be extremely risky.

Can someone give me some ideas as to what I can do to the BIOS then it recognizes all the 4 GB of RAM?

    Thank you very much!

You're not 100% good. The 32-bit Windows OS cannot use the entire 4 GB due to the limitation of the 32-bit operating system. After the installation of Vista SP1 will display full 4GB but it will still use only 3 GB.
To use all of the 4 GB, different components like CPU, BIOS, OS and chipset must support this. If one of these doesn't support 4GB while the laptop components will use only 3 GB.

    Update the BIOS

People are right. The update of the BIOS must help to recognize the 4 GB in the BIOS.
But it s also good that the update of the BIOS is risky.
If you want to use a bad BIOS or bad procedure to update the BIOS that can damage the ROM. module

    Good bye

  • Satellite A200-1VL upgraded to 3 GB of Ram - Question

    Hello world

When I bought my Satellite A200 1 VL, I got 2 GB of ram (1 + 1). Then I bought a 2 GB of ram and now I have 3 GB (1 + 2). And my Vista runs without problem.

My problem is (not sure if it is a problem or not) I see that my computer is using minimum 33% (~ 1 GB) memory instantly. I did not understand the principle of operation.
I think that 1 GB of memory allocated for video RAM because there is a graphical improvement while playing games (like Crysis).

Can someone explain how it works and if my computer needs more than 2 GB of memory so it uses remaining 1 GB for this purpose?

And what I need to adjust the score for RAM?

    Thank you..

    > so means my 32-bit vista will never use 1 GB of ram as a ram memory or will it be a kind of shared memory?
This is right. Vista or any OS that supports 32-bit will be able to handle only 3.2 GB
