  I never heard of this issue, but try to update the BIOS as Akuma said. It s worth a try! On the Toshiba site, you can search for an update of the BIOS:
  http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers

  In the worst cases, you should try to reinstall Windows using the Toshiba recovery disc.

  As far as I know the ACPI is the installation of the power management of the Windows operating system. If you get this error message then, something must be wrong with the power management

  Have you tried to recover the laptop using the Toshiba disk?

  If you used the recovery CD Toshiba n you no need to download and install page of the Toshiba driver Vista drivers. The Toshiba Recovery CD already contains these drivers.

  I visited the European Toshiba driver page and didn t find the Vista drivers for the U400 PSU44E series.
  Are you sure that you downloaded the good HDD Protection Utility to 100%?

  At the other hand that this error message may appears because the HDD Protection Utility is not fully compatible with the ultimate edition of Vista
  I read in some messages that this might be the reason also.

  I have the Satellite U400-PSU44E. It was the Vista Home Premium pre-installed spirit, but I had to install XP Pro.
  Under XP I have problem with installing the drivers. If I try to install driver sound I get info that the media is not found, even with the modem driver. I tried to install the electricity utility of Eve - in the last step of the installation, I get an error, and this error ia´m getting always ia´m try to uninstall this version adding utility / Removo programs.
  HARD drive protection utility I also install the Cana´t - I Dona´t don't know if this feature is supported in my Toshiba, but if this pilot is being Satellite U400 PSU44E I think it should be.
  ChipSet drivers and BIOS I installed as the first.
  I downloaded only the drivers from the web site of Toshiba (ce.computers.toshiba...) for win XP.

  Any suggestions?

  For some time my X 500 will 'freeze' then gives me a black screen before returning to "normal" with an error display window in the taskbar. The read error ".

  "* Display driver stopped responding and has recovered."
  "+ Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 259.12 stopped responding and has successfully recovered.

  Have run a diagnostic on the laptop and tried the NVIDIA drivers updated etc, but it continues to happen.

  Any ideas on the causes AND more to the point HOW to solve this problem?

  I post a screenshot of the error message but cannot find how this is done - if it is allowed?

  I guess that this is caused by the graphics chip, it is possible that caused graphics card driver problems related to bad entries in the registry or in the worst case the graphics chip could badly run.

  Also found this thread where the user that edbelgium seems solved problems with graph on X 500.

  1. are you able to log on to the office after receiving the error message? (Without the error message)

  This error could be related to one of the pilots is not able to load. It could be related to the graphics card driver or any other driver.

  You can try to start in safe mode and check if the problem occurs or not.

• kernel mode driver error handler

  For the last few days, right after that I get the message of welcome during Windows startup, I can get a box that appears and says "Kernel Mode Driver Manager has encountered a problem and needs to close", then he gives me a choice to send an error report to Microsoft.  When I look at the details of the error report I see the following:

  I tried to run a system/registry cleaner (Piriform CCleaner), which found and removed a number of items, but it has not solved the problem.  I tried to access my anitvirus (AVG) software, but I can't find a way to access.

  Any help is appreciated!
