Satellite U500-1F5 - made various problems

Yes... and Toshipa are the worst airline in supporting their customers

I bought my laptop-April 9, 2010, it took just a week before the problems started

the problems are:
1-all the buttons at the top of the keyboard do not work (volume, echo, play... etc.)
2 toggle the touchpad button does not
3 files copying process reminds me of my processor intel 386 I had before age 16
4 - battery does not work for more than 2 hours even if there is that no applications work

I took it to the service center, they have restored the factory settings, which led to delete my files, but its ok, the buttons worked again, and I had to forget the problems of process and battery copies convinced.

Unfortunately, the buttons worked for only 2 days :)
I tried to contact support on the internet, but support for the Gulf region pages do not work, and when I try to support from europe, he applied ordered me to go to the support of the Gulf, which does not work!

I searched this forum, but not found solutions.
The answers speak of value added package and flash cards.
flash cards work (fn + f keys). so if please don't answer me by asking me to reinstall the VAP and restart Flash cards, because I did it!

    You can activate Bluetooth using the FN + F8 key combination. Just press this combination to turn on and if your laptop is equipped with a WLAN hardware switch, turn it on too.

    After this start Toshiba Bluetooth tool and search for Bluetooth devices. :)

    I bought a new Toshiba Satellite U500 (PSU9ME),
    I'm updating my laptop regularly whenever I get alert through TEMPRO or Toshiba service center.

    Last week I received an alert to updat the BIOS and I did. Since then, I've noticed the following problems:

    1 eco utility does not work, and when I tried to uninstall, it says (not supported BIOS)
    2. on screen funtion buttons that appear at the top of the screen when you press the Fn key no longer not apear
    3. the touchpad lock / unlock button does not work, and even by pressing Fn + F9 doesnot lock

    I hope you can give me an answer about my problems,
    I already downloaded the latest updates for the eco and value-added packege of the toshiba site and install,

    BUT

    does not my prob

    still eco utility does not work. The msg (not supported BIOS), appear when I run the update.

    The bar of buttons on the top of the screen does not (even after I uninstall the package of value of toshiba and re - install the last being) and the locking/unlocking back touch button does not work.

    I hope Toshiba can find me a solution, coz I don't have time to go to the DEPOT

    That s is nice, but certainly not necessary. When the system is working, do not touch or change anything. Maybe stupid sounds now, but I recommend you to remove the TEMPRO system. Believe me you don't need. I have 2 years old Satellite A300 and original BIOS. It works perfectly and I don't want to take any chances and to change what anyone. Since last month, I have the Satellite U500-1EX and will do the same. TEMPRO is already removed, and I am happy with the factory settings.

    All that you have done is OK, but at least you can try to reinstall entire OS now using HDD recovery option (F8 at startup) to see if everything works well again. Sorry, but if this will not help, I think that you need the BIOS downgrade to the old version.

    Foremost the U500 - 10 M belongs to the series of PSU5EE.
    I put t know what version of BIOS that you use but it seems that the latest BIOS for PSU5EE and Win 64 bit series are BIOS 2.40 - WIN.
    You could update the BIOS if you use an older version.

    All the tools of Toshiba Windows 7 need VAP (value added package).
    This package must be installed first!
    After the installation of VAP you could install other tools like Eco Utility, PC Health Monitor, hardware or other configuration

    I can't provide an exactly the solution to this problem of Vista Mail but to me, it looks like a Microsoft Vista operating system problem and not Toshiba Satellite.
    I don t think there could be a problem with the hardware that's why we should look for solutions.

  • Black screen after login on my Satellite U500-1f5

    After that I am connected to my laptop, the screen went white as completely black with just the presentation of cursor.
    I can start the Task Manager, but nothing else. I tried safe mode and it worked fine.

    This has occurred in normal mode. So, I had to do a system restore and it worked.
    But I'm afraid I'm going to reproduce.

    Who knows what happened here if the system restore worked correctly, then it was certainly a problem of software and software problems can occur because of some updates or a compatibility issue between the system and 3rd party software.

    PS: What laptop and what system are you using?

    Looks like you have installed lots of software that slows down the performance of your laptop.
    If the programs you have installed?

    Theoretically it could also be caused due to a virus or a trojan. You should check your laptop computer for viruses using a good antivirus like AntiVir program.

    Try to defragment the HARD drive. If you install/uninstall programs, you should defragment the HARD drive from time to time. You can use the built-in Windows defragmentation tool.

    I have exactly the same problem with the calibration by trying to create a recovery on Maxell DVD media disc + R I tried twice 2 DVD different each with the same error. Then I burned one of them on my desktop without any problem. When I tried an Emtec DVD + R support on the laptop it burned successfully.
    The laptop is Satellite U500-17F with Mat * un DVD-RAM UJ862AS. There is an incompatibility of Mat * one disc with Maxell DVD and must be fixed with a firmware update but Mat * one did not like.

    I'm having some trouble with my satellite U500. Recently, I had to reinstall windows on my laptop and the problem is it not activate because of my motherboard was replaced some time ago (I have no more a recovery partition). I want to know is if it is possible to make it work again with recovery Toshiba dvd or by any other means.

    The other problem involves toshibas eco utility. Whenever I try to install it im getting an error message empty all I can do is click ok and then the installation is aborted. If someone had issues similar or is able to help me I would really appreciate it thx in advance. :)

    If you have original Toshiba Recovery disk use for installing Windows. Recovery image is already enabled, so it shouldn't be a problem. If you use a clean version that is another story.

    I hope that the Toshiba service provider has replaced the motherboard correctly and rewritten DMI information.

    Use please recovery disk and recovery image. This recovery image contains all of the tools of Toshiba and utility and all must be installed correctly including eco utility.

    2. I've updated of bios easily to v1.6 and now 1.7 released and I tried hard updated but the update won t work at all, it keeps stuck to the CMD screen.

    3 today, I had a massage from warning saying that the problem with the cooling system has been detected and I need to return it to the service!

    I'll take it tomorrow at the service, but the laptop was purchased on March 24, 2010 only! And it has been registered online on March 26, 2010;

    The service will open and check it out or fix it but it is neither normal nor acceptable when a laptop cost me almost 1200USD and worked less than 2 months and the experience of this.

    I have didn't even use it again as heavy I used to other brands which has never had a single issue!

    This does not mean your laptops are bad, but IE please help and provide solutions or maybe this model needs an urgent review!

    You're right, this is not normal cell behavior but it must be said that it s a machine and the machine could begin to malfunction it s nothing unusual and in your case, it was simply bad luck that happened after a short time of use

    My wife recently purchased a Toshiba Satellite U500, that came pre-installed with Windows 7 64-bit.

    A few days later, I bought a modem high-speed HSDPA USB by Alcatel. The problem started immediately that we plugged the modem, that drivers would not install.
    Then I went to the Web of Alcatel site and found the drivers for windows 7 for her. But then we hit another road block since now the drivers are installed and it does not detect the modem, but whenever we try to connect to the internet, screen flickers at the connection for a moment and then disconnects again.

    I found cela a lil strange so I tried to connect using my own pc which has a 32-bit Windows 7 and it works fine there.
    It is the same for a machine that still had Windows XP. Makes me think its something to do with 64-bit Windows 7 itself. Could someone help please?

    I don't think that someone here can help you with this problem. You will be very happy if someone on this forum has exactly the same model of laptop including same USB modem.

    In my opinion, you have two options: either you can clarify this point with the support of Alcatel (they have enough experience with own products) or with people from the nearest Toshiba service provider service.

    Have you tried to test the features with the Win7 32-bit version?
