Satellite Z930 - question on Win8 SSD partitions

Just got the new Z930 satellite with the following 128 GB SSD partitions

450 MB recovery partition
260 MB EFI system partition *.
9.66 Gb recovery partition
Primary partition 8 GB *.
100.76 GB boot, page file, crash dump, primary partition *.

Only those that are marked with * are allowed to be deleted using the windows disk management tool.

I'm assuming that the 8 GB partition is the recovery for a factory restore media. I intend on creating recovery media of course USB (9Gbrequired according to the creator of recovery media - 16 Gb USB recommended). Delete this partition, and then expand the main partition.

Questions:

1. someone knows what is the 9.66 GB partition and why it cannot be deleted? Possibly put into hibernation linked, but why 9.66 when there are only 6 GB of RAM installed (which would make the hibernation 4 GB partition)

2. What is the EFI partition for?

3. it is curious that if you take 4 GB (what the file hibernation for 6 GB of RAM should be) the 9.66 5,66 remaining and the score of 8 GB are basically the same size as the main 13.5 GB partition reported here for the z930 portege. Why Toshiba would squirrel away from the recovery media as well as space for hibernation? A way to recover the full 13.5 GB asmentioned in the z930 portege post?

Thanks in advance

> 1. Anyone know what is the 9.66 GB partition and why it cannot be deleted? Possibly put into hibernation linked, but why 9.66 when there are only 6 GB of RAM installed (which would make the hibernation 4 GB partition)

I guess that the 9.66 GB partition called recovery partition is created for HARD drive recovery.
You can retrieve the laptop using recovery of HARD drive and does not require recovery or recovery USB memory stick drive.
But I wouldn't delete this partition because you will lose the ability to recover the HARD drive recovery unit

> 2. What is the EFI partition for?
EFi partition contains the program loader initialization for all the operating systems (in other partitions) on the HARD disk. If don t touch.

D drive: 233 GB (recovered files)

I'm not sure, if drive D is the one where do I place my own data, why must the files of recovery that probably should be in a separate partition. Can I create a new partition in the disk D for my own personal data that I don't want to place it with the recovery files in case they are accidentally deleted?

In addition, I don't want to put my data on the C drive.

    > I'm not sure if drive D is where should I place my own data...
Why not? What is the problem? Why is - what are irritated you with existing collection case here?
I n t have Satellite L750 but if you can see folder HDDRecovery there you can set it to be hidden and you see it, but it will always be there. After doing this, you will not be able to accidentally erase.
    >... Why does have the files for recovery that probably should be in a separate partition.
It doesn't have to be on a separate partition.
    > Can I create a new partition in the disk D for my own personal data that I don't want to place it with the recovery files in case they are accidentally deleted?
There no sense to create a third partition if you already have the second partition D. use this partition to save all the data of a personal nature. I do the same.

By the way: s user guides described document that you must create recovery DVDs. This recovery with the recovery image DVDs can be used for installing the OS. In General, after the creation of recovery disks, you can even remove data recovery. Don t move anywhere data recovery. Result may be that you will not be able to start the installation of HARD drive recovery - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R01.htm

  • Possible satellite Z930 - Downgrade of Win8 in Win7 Pro

    Hi all,
I want to downgrade my Z930 Satellite of Windows 8 for Windows 7 pro.
    Is this possible?
Y at - it all drivers for Win7?

    What should I do?
I did 3 (DVD) system recovery disk, I can now begin the Downgrade process?

    TIA
    Holfit

    It is possible, why not

    To check this:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB2B03F30002R01.htm

You need to make the necessary changes in the BIOS. Disable secure startup, and then assign him to UEFI MSC mode

    > Are there any drivers for Win7?
    Look here:

    > I did 3 (DVD) system recovery disk, I can now begin the Downgrade process?
If you have the recovery disk, you will be able to put the computer laptop back to factory settings.
This allows you to use 8 to win again.

  • Satellite P300 - question about HARD Disk Partition

    Hello.

I just bought a P300-1 Satellite has very nice portable 8. Everything has been restored to the original state. The thing is, I'm sure someone has resized the partition of HARD drive on the disk "D". It has a 160 GB hard drive, but the "D" drive is showing only 54 GB. I would like to reduce the size to give me maximum space on the 'C' drive but worried that it might affect the "HDD Recovery" folder that exists on this subject.

Any help asap would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you very much

Create recovery DVDs using Toshiba Recovery creator tool. After doing this, you can do with disk partitions you want.
One day, if you want to reinstall Vista and have the factory settings, you can use this created DVD facilities.

Please note: before installation of Vista drive HARD whole lance and ancient structure of the partitions is deleted. Data back up are required.

  • Satellite Z930 - fan reviews all in flash for example YouTube

    Hello

just a question on my Satellite Z930-130 with Win8 new fan.

In fact you can not hear the fan for example. with pdf files
but when you watch a video on youtube, the fan starts and 2 min later it stops

    Is this normal?

    Thank you

Of course, it's normal. At the moment when you want to watch the video more graphics card performance is necessary and material to increase temperature. The motherboard sensors noticed this and cooling fan will be activated.

    It s nothing unusual.

  • Satellite Z930-12Z - add RAM and replace the SSD

    Hi all

I'm new here and read some articles also on the Z930-12Z Satelite but I have two questions on the Satellite Z930-12Z:

    1. What is the maximum RAM for Satellite Z930-12Z? There are two locations inside or accommodation?
I read this blog, but I don't understand if there are two slots or a slot...
    https://Forum.Toshiba.EU/showthread...Llite-Z930-12Z

    2. could I change the SSD? Is there a maximum GB for SSDS for my Ultrabook? No matter what SSD I install?

    I had these SSDS:
    2.1 Kingston SMS200S3 / 480 G SSD 480 GB (6.4 cm (2.5 '' mSATA)
    2.2 MZ-M5E500BW Samsung SSD 500 GB (mSATA)

No matter what SSD I install?

    Thank you in advance!

    Rebecca Bugday

Two DIMM slots with 16 GB support apparently. You won't need 16 GB. Take a set of 2 x 4 GB RAM dual channel, I'll leave a link to a few good things that I use for my cell phone 16 GB

    http://www.ebuyer.com/646124-HyperX-...1779&PKW=&Pmt=

Also, Yes, of course, you can change the SSD, you will need to get some kind of USB 3.0 in the first mSATA interface and clone the existing drive overall, because laptops do not want fresh windows install.

  • Questions of Protocol Windows 8.1 'Play' with Satellite Z930-12 q

    Hello

I bought my Toshiba Satellite Z930 more than a year ago. Quickly, I realize that I have did not have much opportunities as before network with older windows such as the ability to create a wifi network. Never again...

And I recently had an update on my internet Box allowing me to use the "Play To" windows system. GREAT! I tried to use it, but it did not work. I first thought that it was my box that was faulty, but with another PC, it works well!

So I start to wonder if there is a problem with the network on my computer? Or maybe, is the version of windows installed is a light?

    Anyone know anything?

    Your ad is confusing.

You're talking about Windows 8 light system. I put t know what you mean by light, but the phone has pre-installed with Windows common 8 64-bit and this fully functional system.

You talk about network problems I m wondering if you really network problems, or you have no experience using 8 Win.

If win 8 is a bit confused, I'd recommend checking the pages Microsoft Windows FAQ/HowTo on Win 8 and 8.1 new win

Yes, the 8.1 Win was already published by MS and I recommend you update the Win Win 8.1 8 since it has been improved by Ms.
The upgrade can be done for free.

  • Where can I get the right drivers for Satellite Z930 - PT23LA - 01 009?

A little history: I recently bought a version of Win7 to a Z930 in Auckland from PB Tech shop. I've updated to a clean version of Win8 64-bit. My Win8 seems works ok but I noticed something strange in the Toshiba PC Health Monitor - apparently the Toshiba HDD/SSD Alert is not installed, so I don't understand not his iconic display in the health monitor (but the health monitor think my SSD is in "Good" shape - maybe it's reading the INTELLIGENT of my SSD interface, or maybe it's just saying 'Good' because the integrity monitor is apparently able to operate?)

I can easily find different versions of the Toshiba HDD/SSD Alert Utility in questionable Web sites - download, but I really prefer to get my Toshiba support drivers. Which leads to my question:

Where can I get the right drivers for PT23LA-01 009? NZ nor the webarea to Toshiba support have this model in their menus. The closest match seems to be

    http://www.MyToshiba.co.nz/support/computers/Ultrabook/satellite-z930/pt23la-01f00n/download?OS=30

There is probably not much difference between a PT23LA-01F and a PT23LA-01 P but it is a bit of concern to be download & install the drivers for a chip that is no my model...

    See you soon,.
    Clark

PS: http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/General-Features-Knowledge-Base/TOSHIBA-HDD-SSD-Alert/ta-p/347120 advise me the area downloads for Toshiba support. He also advises "not all utilities are available for each model and operating system. During the installation of utilities, install the TOSHIBA value added first. "Sigh... so maybe my problem is that I installed the Win8 drivers & utilities order when build my own-building a Win8 pass win7? Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest... but if this is the case are here all other dependencies in these built?

    > Where can I get the right drivers for PT23LA-01 009?

First series of Toshiba laptops (Australian, European, etc) is very similar to the other
Your model of laptop Australian Satellite Z930 * PT23LA * series is the same as the European model Satellite Z930 * PT23LE * series.

That's why the drivers, tools and utilities published for Satellite Z930 * PT23LE * series must be compatible with the Satellite Z930 * PT23LA * series.

To get all drivers for Satellite Z930 * PT23LE *, you should check this page:
    http://www.Toshiba.EU/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU

There, you can get all win 8 - upgrade the drivers. Also the HDD/SSD Alert Utility v3.1.64.14

  • Satellite Z930-130-how to REALLY turn off?

    Hi all

Also funny that my question may sound... it is really serious!
I have big problems in the course of the life of the battery (not so much a single charge, but affecting the "life" of the laptop itself!) because it seems even to be a way to disable COMPLETELY this laptop! It will be as a joke for a laptop of advertising with a 'eco' label that is supposed to help reduce the waste of natural resources (which was an important part of my purchase decision).

When I put the laptop Hibernate or turn it off by long-pressing the 'Power' button, battery mode indicating LEDS etc are always on, the battery is slightly drained even when the laptop is turned off. While of course LED will certainly not use a lot of power, it means that the next time I plug it into my computer, + a new charging cycle is initiated + that could have been avoided without it. With a battery usually survive 1000 charge cycles, which will force me to buy a new battery (by the way: what a shame how "yesterday" and that the battery is built-in and not replaceable by the buyer!) within 2 years if I plug off a few times every day.

Alltogether that sounds a lot like "planned obsolescence" and I'm annoyed by the mere thought of support something like that. Basically, I'm very happy with the Z930, so, I'm more frustrated by this completely unnecessary battery drain. No idea how to activate these LED to the wide and really turn off computer? Or an update of the BIOS just the thing?

BTW, I would be also grateful for advice on how to put pressure on the softer touchpad mouse buttons and easy - on my laptop, they have to be hurry * very * hard.

    My model: Toshiba Satellite Z930 - 130 33.8 cm (13.3 Zoll) Ultrabook (Intel Core i7 3667U, 2 GHz, 4 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD, Intel HD 4000, win 8)

    Thank you, r.

Hey, I've done a downgrade from win8.1 for win 7. now there are not installed devices, WLAN-driver and a USB device.

    Hello

What Satellite Z930-xxx you have exactly?
To my knowledge the units were equipped with three different WLan modules; Intel, Realtek or Atheros are possible would be useful to know the model number

USB drivers are also available on the Toshiba UE driver page.
I guess you have not installed the USB 3.0 driver and therefore the USB unknown device appears in Device Manager.

  • Satellite Z930 - suspend the problem with connected USB hard drive

    Hello

    Owner of a newly acquired Satellite Z930-15 X, I have a few questions/problems:

    1) suspends the work of RAM and good hibernation when there is no external hard drive connected. If there is one is connected, the laptop immediately returns back to suspend state. Is there a solution for this?

    (2) is there a way to selectively disable Bluetooth? Currently, only toggle airplane mode is available (with Fn + F8 or Windows 8 charm bar). This activates / deactivates the Wi - Fi or Bluetooth I think.

    (3) the portable computer is wobbly on reception. I put a bit of thin paper at the corner of a bottom (bottom left) so that it can be stabilized. Apparently, the problem is also mentioned in another thread. Is there a suggestion to fhix this problem?

    Thank you.

1 / what HARD drive is connected to your laptop? When I use the external 2.5 HARD drive with my Satellite U940 I n t have problem.

2 / I ve tested it on my machine and I noticed the same thing. When WIFI is disabled software BT is off too. I didn t find a way how to separately control adapter WLAN and BT.

3 / I think that this issue needs to be clarified with Toshiba service. They must check and perhaps exchange rubbers inside.

  • Satellite Z930 - USB driver missing

    Satellite Z930-13N

USB driver type by Intel xHCI shows the following error message:

"This device does not work properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31) »

Anyone can shed some light on it with a solution?

I looked on the TEMPRO Download Center but could not find a driver for my PC with Windows 8.

    Thank you

According to specification for laptop, your laptop computer came with preinstalled Win8 64bits. Recovery image contains all the necessary drivers so I m wondering how one driver may be missing.

Have you installed a clean version of the OS?
USB 3.0 driver is preinstalled on your laptop? If you can't find it for your test of Satellite install for Portege Z930.

  • Satellite A500 - 14K does support SSD drive?

    Hello everyone,

I'm considering buying an SSD to replace the old hard isk of my Satellite A500 - 14K with an SSD.
I have a question: it's going to be that simple:
-excerpt from my old hard drive
    -Insert the SSD 2.5 "
-use the recovery DVD to reinstall vista and w7

Is this laptop * tatooed * which would prevent this kind of replacement?

a s SSD not as expensive as it was a few years ago but it is still expensive and I don't want to buy an SSD that I can't use!

    Thanks for your answers,

    Olivier

    Hello

In most cases is not a big problem for the SSD drive works correctly.
I made these updates on my old Toshiba laptop and it worked normally.

Sometimes, it would be possible that an SSD would not be recognized in the BIOS. Such compatibility problem could be linked to the SSD drive firmware, but it happens in very rare circumstances

  • How to change the Satellite L670D-103 using new SSD 80 GB HARD drive?

    Hello

I have a Satellite L670D-103 with a 320 GB HARD drive running at 5400 RPM which is too slow for me.

So I plan to change this factory by a new SSD HDD to increase the performance of the overall system :)

But as the SSD are expensive, I have only a 80 GB SSD.

I built the recovery on a USB media and I want to use it to restore my system to the new SSD (I previously did the space needed to ensure that all data can be stored on my new SSD 80 GB space; p)

Retrieving SSD partitioning new procedure is done without error, but when copying image to restore data to freshly created the partition, one not enough space error stop the process!

It seems that the recovery procedure is possible on a hard drive that is equal or superior to the original size of the disk (320 gb).

So, how can I restore mysystem on my new SSD?

    Thank you
    Stéphane.

    > It seems that the recovery procedure is possible on a hard drive that is equal or superior to the original size of the disk (320 gb)

To my knowledge, you have different recovery options:

(* 1) * recovery of factory default software

    (a) recovery to out of box state
    (b) recovery without changing the HARD drive partitions
    (c) recovery of a custom size partition

    (* 2) * "erase the HARD drive.

I think that if you choose factory default software recovery of-> recovery to out of box state then the recovery would create exactly the same size of partition on the new SSD which were available on the 320 GB HARD drive.
I think this might be the reason why you have received this message.

Perhaps you need to choose the 3rd option Recovery on a custom size partition

    What do you think?
