Save and add metadata

Hello

We often have to print documents on various types of paper and I was wondering if a script has existed (or could) allows us to enter the name of the file (if we can save it somewhere) and opens the Panel information file, so we can enter the paper type (in the field of the description below the title author) or just request the type of paper and put the answer in the description area of the file info. In this way, we can again find the right paper type. I found a discussion on how to automate, but not what I need.
Thank you

As I posted this question on the Indesignsecrets blog too, he had been answered by Jongware. His answer:

paper = prompt ("enter paper description", 'Just choose whatever it is');

If (paper)

app.activeDocument.metadataPreferences.description = document;

  • Save the file with the data from field and add more information

    I'm looking to create a button that will be a button Save and add the data in a field to it when I save it.  So it would be a click event in javascript and inside of the "saveFile" information adds TextField1 and "text that I make up" which would create the name of the saved file.

    Hello

    Not sure if you have this sorting.

    But this could be done by using the function of trust

    create your form as usual

    then create a further subform and getting in to a record in the box (just add a textfield and little text and a button)

    have the save button on the form simply call the saveas subform

    SaveAs.Presence = "visible";

    then the button in the subform saveas have the following (under the click in javascript event)

    SaveAs.Presence = 'hidden ';

    event.target.saveasFunc ();

    to get this feature work, you must create a Notepad with the following code .js file

    saveasFunc = app.trustedFunction (function () {}
    app.beginPriv ();

    var text1 = event.target.xfa.resolveNode (".saveform form1 [0] [0].") ("TextField1 [0]") .rawValue;
    Text2 = event.target.xfa.resolveNode var ("form1 .saveform [0] [0] .saveas [0].") ("TextField2 [0]") .rawValue;

    try {}
    event.target.saveAs ("/ c/forms /" + text1 + "" + Text2 + ".pdf" ");
    } catch (err) {}
    App.Alert ("Error:" + err);
    }
    app.endPriv ();
    });

    Obvisously properly the objectives and the backup directory

    then save this file as name then place you like .js for example (saveas.js) this file in the c:\program files\adobe\acrobat\javascripts or similar, but with the player if you use adobe reader software.

    If you intend to use this file in the drive then you will need to activate features extended drive on the file using Adobe Acrobat.

    OK above is only available where you can load the .js file in the correct directory.

    I use it by creating a simple installation file that has placed the .js file in the right directory and Ontario form right end users computer.

    It may or may not work for you.

  • Is it possible? Plugin add metadata in the selected photos?

    Hello

    I am part of a team of development of software for photographers, this software is that the customer can choose the images of the photographer of some work.

    I would like to create a plugin which is able to import this selection of photos that the client makes and add metadata to photos selected in Lightroom.

    Example: the user is a catalog of wedding Jessica Alba open in Lightroom and the plugin opens and loads a file with this selection of photos taken on my system.

    Is it possible?

    Yes, it is possible.

    You can open files (among other methods) to load the selection

    information and you can modify metadata about photos. Look at

    LrPhoto:setRawMetadata() for documentation on the subject (but there is

    other methods of LrPhoto/LrCatalog, you could also use). You should be able to

    record selects using flags, keywords, labels or some other metadata.

    Otherwise, you may build a new collection to save the selections.

    Thanks, Matt

  • Metadata Windows 7 I tend to take a lot of pictures and I want to be able to add metadata to photos that I know what talking about photography,

    original title: metadata Windows 7

    I tend to take a lot of pictures and I want to be able to add metadata to photos that I know what talking about the picture, where it was taken, the people of marking on the photo, etc. I used the Windows 7 Explorer to add metadata to photos (the pane at the bottom of the Explorer or by doing a right click and using the properties--> details recording here). Everything's all right. But the addition of data to hundreds of photos is a very demanding task. Therefore, I wanted some advice on the following questions before that I seriously undertake this work on thousands of photos:

    1. If I add metadata to photos using the Windows 7 Explorer, and then copy the photos to another computer with Windows XP, I keep all the metadata information that I added in Windows 7 and be able to read in the Explorer of Windows XP? Or will I lose all the metadata as we can add in a specific Windows 7 format, unreadable by Windows XP? Or even that I lost a part of metadata (fields newly added in Windows 7, in case some [which?])?
    2. These metadata will be compatible in the future versions of Windows? If I upgrade to a later version of Windows (whenever it comes out), my metadata laboriously added will be present and readable as well as all the pictures?
    3. Is metadata embedded in the file or is it stored in another table inside the Windows OS? I know this because, to wire different versions of Windows, I have totally lose the metadata when I copy the photos or that it will be present in the Interior photos but will only be unreadable?

    If I lose any of my metadata on different versions of Windows, then this method of recording information of the photo seems unnecessary. If this is the case, can someone advise me the best method to save the details of the photos inside photos so that they are available (and readable), everywhere where the photo is taken or copied.

    Hi mnae,.

    If you add metadata to photos and then to copy the photos to another computer it keeps all the metadata information that you added.

    If you upgrade to a version more recent Windows information will be preserved. Metadata are embedded in the file only.

    I suggest that you first test with some files and check.

  • CS6 & CC 2015, bridge how to add metadata and keywords in MXF files

    Hello

    I can't add metadata and keywords to my my new video camera of Sony MXF files.  I tried Bridge CS6 & CC 2015.

    I'd appreciate very much all the advice to achieve this!

    Best regards, Jose

    I think with these types of files, you get a third party app to change the metadata.

  • Bridge: Why can't add metadata to the gif and pct files?

    Don't know what the question is here with Adobe Bridge and gif and pct, but the bridge will not let me add metadata or keywords.

    With key words, Bridge displays a window saying that pct and gif files cannot add xmp metadata.

    Is there something that I am missing in my settings? Or should I just go ahead and convert all my files gif and pct in format JPEG, TIFF or psd.

    GIF is an old format I doubt you can write non-graphical metadata from information for files to gif format: metadata exif, keywords, itpc and others that is used with tiff and jpeg files did not appear in the standard for the CompuServe Graphics Interchange Format (gif) format. .   .

    PDF/A, when I have a standard PDF file and add some text to it, and then save as PDF/A, there is an error.  Any ideas?

    Preflight check should give you an idea of the problem. It may be that the file must be flattened before attempting the conversion. Not all aspects of a PDF file can be converted to PDF/A.

  • Add metadata via photoshop

    I have this script to use currently while on the point to save an image, however, I would like to remove the Save as and just simply make a script which by pressing adds metadata.

    function saveAS() {
    if(!documents.length) return;
    activeDocument.info.captionWriter = "Editted_by_Test";
    if(activeDocument.layers.length > 1){
    var desc2 = new ActionDescriptor();
    var desc3 = new ActionDescriptor();
    desc3.putBoolean( stringIDToTypeID('maximizeCompatibility'), true );
    desc2.putObject( charIDToTypeID('As  '), charIDToTypeID('Pht3'), desc3 );
    try{executeAction( charIDToTypeID('save'), desc2, DialogModes.ALL );}catch(e){}
    }else{
    try{executeAction( charIDToTypeID('save'), undefined, DialogModes.ALL );}catch(e){}
    }
    };
    #target photoshop

    Thank you very much

    Matt

    Would the line

    1. activeDocument.info.captionWriter = "Editted_by_Test";

    be sufficient?

  • How to add metadata to split titles

    I know how to do one track, but when I click on the next track it always shows the name of the previous track. How to add metadata to split multiple tracks for like a mixtape?

    Thanks for the screenshots, very useful.

    Once divide you it into different tracks, and each track is another file on the disk (as shown in your Windows Explorer / Finder screenshot), you'll want to:

    • Go through each file
    • Enter the metadata you want via the metadata Panel (see below)
    • Save each file

    If you work with MP3 files, the areas concerned are the tags ID3 listed in this dialog box:

    If you save as WAVE files, RIFF relevant metadata fields displayed in this dialog box

    Once you enter the information you want in the fields and save them as file, so it should appear in the Windows Explorer, which is what I think you're going to.

  • How can I recover a lost file bookmark and content and add to my current boolmarks?

    I tried to access a folder with several subfolders with important favorite Web sites. It's not in my favorites and I searched the entire library. I need to recover this file and add it to my folders of bookmarks existing without change or disrupt the rest of the structure of Web sites or bookmarks. I guess I can get bookmarked all the value of an earlier date, but I need just to this folder. I unfortunately did not a recent backup so I don't have the ability to recover from my backup. In that case, might do the same to my backup copy of my favorites?

    If you did a lot of re-organization of your files since your last backup, then you could try the following steps to restore only the missing folder you need (providing that it existed at your last backup).

    1. Save what you have now in a new format JSON backup file;
    2. Restore the previous backup;
    3. Turn off everything except the missing records;
    4. Export to a HTML file.
    5. Restore the backup that you created in step #1; then finally
    6. Import the HTML file created in step #4.

    It is not the most elegant solution, but it will accomplish I hope that what you need, if I understand you correctly.

  • How to record the screen and add audio with QuickTime?

    I can't wait to make my first video through QuickTime player, but I'm stuck on the following:

    (1) new screen recording - I'm able to capture the process of my video with this feature

    (2) audio new recovery - separately, I can record my audio

    But can't do the task above at the same time which means that I can save the process through and add my voice at once? Is this possible?

    Hello Vishal2014,

    I understand you are trying to create videos with recordings of screen as well as a voiceover. I can help you with that.

    Now, when you set up your registration form, you have the option to choose a microphone to talk and create video at the same time. This would reduce you adding the clip after the fact. Take a look at the first link below that will go on the way to do this.

    Save your screen
    https://help.Apple.com/QuickTimePlayerX/Mac/10.11/index.html?localePath=en.lproj #/ qtp97b08e666

    Now if you want to add audio to the video that you already created, consider using iMovie. You can import video, and during playback, you can save your audio files on top of the video. Take a look at the following article for more details on how to achieve this.

  • I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox, hoping to start with supplements. When I reinstalled, I got all my old favorites and add-ins!

    I checked the plugins, found RealPlayer was outdated. I clicked on "UPDATE" that me reinstall RealPlayer. Once completed, RealPlayer was still as obsolete.
    Thought that I might uninstall - reinstall. Save bookmarks, uninstalled (checked to remove any customization). Reinstalled and found all my favorites already installed! Could not find RealPlayer, but it seemed that all of my old plugins were still there. That's happened? Can I get a clean install?

    Uninstalling Firefox will not delete your bookmarks unless tell you it to delete your personal data. You can try a Reset Firefox Refresh - reset the settings and Add-ons.

    In addition, plugins are external to Firefox (flash, java, etc.) and therefore you cannot remove them from Firefox. But you can turn off, which is in practice the same.

  • Toshiba power saver and limited account

    Hello

    I did a limited Windows account.
    TOSHIBA Power Saver does not work in a limited account.
    And I see no symbol in the system tray.

    What can I do?

    (Satellite Pro 2100, Windows XP Pro)

    Well, I'll try to add change the rights on this tool.
    You can select energy saver and change permissions on the (limited) user name.
    Change for total control.

    In addition, you can set the energy saver shortcut in the startup of the limited account folder.
    I think that the path should looks like this:
    \Startlimited user accountC:\Documents and Settings\

    In this case, the energy saver should start at the beginning of the year and should appear in the taskbar.

  • Lightroom 5 How save keywords to metadata

    Is this possible in Lightroom 5 to save keywords to metadata so that iPhoto can see the keywords?

    THanks in advance for any help.

    I'm not in the metadata in Lightroom 5. I have the lack somewhere in there?

    The key words for a photo appear in the keywords Panel in the right-hand column of the library.  It is not necessary to save a preset metadata, since that will show the same set of keywords that appear in the keywords Panel.

    Also, I checked "Automatically write changes to XMP" in the catalog settings.

    Good.  This option automatically writes the changes using the keywords (and other metadata) from the catalog pictures (or in the case of raw, .xmp sidecar files for raw files).    You can check if the write is completed by searching the status indicator at the top right of a thumbnail in the library:

    This arrow indicates that LR has written not to return the metadata in the photo file.  Available for access by other applications only when the metadata has been rewritten.
