save large files
Multilayer files that seem to be rather low - for example, two layers smart object pixel photographs plus two adjustment layers (a composite)-are actually too big to Photoshop to save PSD files, requiring that they be saved as documents of large format (PSB). PSB, however, is not recognized by Lr so after saving your "big file" in Photoshop, you cannot import this file in Lightroom. Basically, if you use Lightroom as your principal asset management program, you have lost track of the PSB file. ADOBE NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM. For photographers, an important feature of the use of Photoshop and Lightroom is that you can change the photo files in Photoshop using layers and be able to view thumbnails of your PSD files in your Lightroom Catalog.
Hi ohello,.
I suggest you to save files in TIFF instead of the PSB in Photoshop for them to be imported into Lightroom.
If you are opening files from Lightroom and change them, if you please, navigate to preferences and change the format of TIFF file.
I hope this helps.

Photoshop 2014 (Win7) crashes when you save large files
Hello
A new user in our design Department has problems with its Photoshop 2014 frequently crashing when saving large files.
It runs on a new brand PC (Windows 7 x 86), which has all the latest drivers for hardware and Windows updates. CC Adobe indicates that no update is available for Photoshop.
After installation of the product, I'm not particularly familiar with Photoshop, so apologies if it is a common/known issue that I'm not aware of.
I don't think it's a hardware problem as only Photoshop is having these issues (the user is also AutoCAD 2014, which works perfectly). However, I ran Memtest 86 + all night, who reported no errors.
Here is a typical crash report and also a copy/paste info from System. If anyone has any suggestions, I would be grateful.
Thank you
Dan

No offense, but for any PS works by today's standards, what you have here is simply not enough. The registration process fails probably simply run out of memory during the generation of the preview or other operation. Unless you add more RAM and get the 64 bit, your problems probably will not disappear, and I would like to same thing working with ACAD on such a system is not particularly nice, considering the amount of RAM it uses to load its libraries and a few other things...

Illustrator question save large file
Attempting to save an 8 GB file .ai locally or on a network drive causes illustrator to crash sometimes. Is there a limit to the size of the files .ai I should try to stay under?
Nick,
Maybe it's not relevant if you have the same rate of failure on local economies, but it is generally recommended here for open/save from/to clean hard disk and to copy to and from networks and removable media. You maybe lucky (for a while), but the chances of corruption of files and other unpleasantnesses are immensely greater when you use something else than the hard drive, and it is better safe than sorry.
In addition to the (much longer) risk of file corruption, some issues are mentioned here:
http://helpx.Adobe.com/Illustrator/KB/Illustrator-support-networks-removable-media.html
To have a network really work requires little work.
Make sure that you do not mix Mac and Windows on a network: you must use a Mac with Mac machines and a Windows Server with Windows machines.
If you go through external means, it is always safer to zip/compress the file to avoid corruption.

I save unnecessarily large files
Whenever I first backup my files HAVE, the file size is low. However, when I create small vectors not complex (such as a square), I save these files in ridiculously large sizes. For example, I started with a file HAVE to 300 k, then it became a 50 563 kb file size. The difference of ONLY between these stops is a simple vector created.
I tried "save under" and uncheck "create PDF Compatible", but to no avail. The saved file is still unnecessarily large. I know I can create a new file and use 'Place' to insert the work, but once I have it and save your updated work it creates a ridiculous large file size once again.
Interestingly, Monika. Because I ran remove it Panel unused items on the same file and it did not a thing even when I unchecked PDF Compatible on my attempt of "save under. After reading your post, I decided to update the application with the Advanced Options marked as "don't DO NO import previous settings and preferences" and "Remove older versions." That seemed to do the trick. Once I ran remove it Panel unused items on the same file, it deleted all the excess stuff and reduced the size of the file 17 646 KB in 131 KB.
This has been plaguing me for a few weeks now and I'm glad it's fixed. I appreciate all your help with this, Monika, Mike, ton and Barbara!

That's why when I try to save a large file, it gives me a message that it can not save because that its more 2 GB? How to fix this?
PS will be only savePSD files up to 2 GB. You need to save in the form of a BODY.
-
is this possible? I tried to save in a .psd file and I got a message saying it cannot save to the disk because it is bigger than 2gigs. ! I could really use some advice on saving a photo that I need to keep the highest quality for the very strong impression!
Hi Kareen-
This problem can lead to a lot of things but don't forget that to save a large file, you need to provide Photoshop with good use of CPU and good work record
first try to set photoshop giving him memory: go in Edition > Preferences > Performance in memory use increase the Ps memory can store more in your ram... (what economy try closing all other efficiency programs)
in Performance tab there is a group called "History & Cache": If your file is large itd be interesting to use as many levels of cache (maybe 8) and tile caching during about 1028 k size also affect the size of the large, flat tile
in Scratch Disk leave photoshop now uses its temp file in all your drives for better performance
If this doesn't work for you let me know your sys. config. and the amount of layers has your file

Firefox crashes when uploading large files
When downloading large files as a 4 GB of linux DVD image, firefox starts to accumulate the memory usage. After downloading the / 3GB, it takes about 4 GB of memory and then crashes because it can't possibly get any bigger. WHY would he do that? In previous versions of firefox, it created a .part file and stored all the data in there. But at the moment it stores EVERYTHING download in memory and then directly saves it in the file. No disk .part files.
I found the culprit. The only addon installed: Firebug!
This seems to be a bug that was introduced in a later version. I use this addon for about 2 years now and never had such problems. I'll contact the author of this addon.

I would like to be able to read at least 4 million lines of data total 32 million lines at a time. The TDMS file has given for 2 channels and no time data. If I can convert TDMS files in one or more files LVM, I can read large files of LVM using the JMP software. I'm using Labview 2009. Please provide suggestions.
Thanks in advance. Best regards, Manish (Univ of a to z)
Hi Manish,
For your problem with is .tdms to .lvm, take a look at this forum and This example of community. I checked out, and in my opinion, he should be able to work well for you in regards to creating multiple files .lvm from single .tdms file. The only thing that could be a problem is the time requirement to enter all in LV, and saves data to several files, but you will encounter when you work with large consumed data.
I would also suggest that you take a look at tiara if you are searching by analyzing large data sets. The program is designed to manage large sets of data and make the analyzation on the data.

CANNOT DELETE the LARGE FILE - Windows Explorer hangs
Windows 8I made a very large pdf by mistake (14 GB) and now I can't do anything with it. Can not open, delete, move...
I tried to delete the entire folder where it is located, but also that Windows Explorer crashes.I checked the disk for errors, and everything is OK.I tried to permanently delete without moving to the trash, as I understand it the trash can sometimes accept very large files. I can highlight the file, but as soon as I click the button remove Ribbon, or right-click, or try to do something with it, Windows Explorer crashes again.I have rather a small disc on this machine SSD, and I need this space to the rear...Can't think of anything else to try...Best regards, KTry to remove the file from a command prompt. You can shift right click a folder to see an option "open command window here", which will automatically open the command prompt in the appropriate folder. There is also an "open command prompt here" option on the file menu. If necessary, you can simply open a command prompt and use the cd command to go to the appropriate folder. (.. leave a folder, / to go to the root). Note that the led, remove and erase commands don't send files to trash either.
Another thing you can try is crushing the PDF file. Type something in a program that is able to save to PDF and try to save it on this PDF. Please tell me if you receive errors overwhelming, because they can help to find out what is the problem. If you have any program capable of PDF, simply typing things into Notepad and overwrite the PDF file with it. (in the Save in drop-down menu, you can select "all files")
The entry in NTFS, indicating the presence of this 14 GB file is maybe damaged. The disc may have recorded the location of the bad file, or the 14 GB file may not even be there. You can plan to run the chkdsk utility. It flows better in an administrator command prompt. If you are prompted to do so, you should probably run chkdsk /f. I don't know what the side effects might arise from running chkdsk on an SSD, so proceed at your own risk. (I tried to do a search, and all that I could find is that nothing else than / f should not be run on an SSD)

How can I save my files for printing?
I can't find out how to save a file for printing. The file must be transferred to a company that prints your photos on glass (Fracture) they want the file between 16-20MB. Whenever I save it, it is too big. Of course, I want to be high resolution, so I put that at 300 DPI. (resampled to 72). Help, please.
I think that you will be very disappointed with the results if you use a 1867 x 1200 for this image.
When you resample an image, Photoshop has invent the missing pixels, and in this case, the majority of the pixels in the image will have to be invented.
If the image is from a digital camera, get your hands on the original, which is can be much larger.
According to the homepage of Fracture, they want a 6480 x 8460 image at 300ppi for your format.
300 DPI is probably overkill for this size, my guess is that 180 dpi might be enough.
In this case, the image must be 4320 x 5760, which is what would produce a 24 megapixels.
You might even get away with upsampling an image from a camera megapixels 15 or 16 years.
Ask what they think of the Fracture.
Regarding the 20 MB limit, save the file in jpg format, and then choose the highest quality that will not exceed 20 MB.
To get a better understanding of how how digital images work, take a look at this page: which is a digital image?

Save the file with different settings
So I that I continue to have to apply the same steps for PDF files. I'm not really terrible with programming. I wrote 2 tools using the trustedSave MenuItem. I have 2 different tools created. I commented in the steps, I'm not sure whether or not are possible. I have the book in the api, but still, I'm not a programmer... I fall through the best that I can
// TO SAVE WEB FILE app.addMenuItem({ cName: "trustedSave", cUser: "Save SIS File", cParent: "Tools", cExec: "saveSisFile();", nPos: 0 }); function saveSisFile() { app.beginPriv(); { // EMBED ALL PAGE THUMBNAILS // USING SMALLEST FILE SIZE FROM PDF OPTIMIZER this.saveAs("~/Desktop/" + this.documentFileName.substring(0, 11) + '_SIS.pdf'); } app.endPriv(); } // TO SAVE TILED FILE app.addMenuItem({ cName: "trustedSave", cUser: "Save P File", cParent: "Tools", cExec: "savePFile();", nPos: 0 }); function savePFile() { app.beginPriv(); { // EMBED ALL PAGE THUMBNAILS // DELETE PAGE 1 // PRINT - TILE LARGE PAGES - WITH 0.5" Overlap this.saveAs("~/Desktop/" + this.documentFileName.substring(0, 11) + '_P.pdf'); } app.endPriv(); }

Hello
I have Fusion 7.1, 8.1 Windows running on a Mac Pro. 8.1 win is installed on a 128 GB SSD. According to the properties of earn 8.1 the drive is formatted in NTFS. When I try to suspend my session of merging, I get a message saying:
"The State of this virtual machine may be registered only on a filesystem that supports senior 6,008 GB files.
The file system does not support files greater than 2 GB.
Cannot save the file ' / Volumes/WIN8/Windows 8.1 8.1 x64.vmwarevm/./Windows x 64 - 4fcac0ca.vmss'.
Impossible to suspend the virtual machine: large files are needed. »
Help!
Thank you for any help or advice.

Steve247 wrote: will be solved my problem if I format the drive in NTFS format on the side Mac and then re - install 8.1?
In your OP when you said "Win 8.1 is installed on a 128 GB SSD" as well as the error you get I guess this an external storage device that was formatted FAT32.
Formatting NTFS will be of no use unless you have a third-party R/W of NTFS driver installed as Tuxera NTFS for Mac or similar. Even in this case, it would not be my choice of file system Format, I would choose OS x native HFS + to the external storage device. Of course if you use this cross-platform for Windows and Linux device then HFS + is going to be a problem, too, forcing the third-party driver HFS + R/W. So the common denominator if you use cross-platform will be exFAT. However, that said I don't like to use exFAT because it maintains only a copy of the FAT and if it is messed up by not properly no mounting the camera before you disconnect it, well there's a good chance for the corruption that exists beyond simple recovery.
Note: If you can save the entire Virtual Machine elsewhere all by reformatting the device external storage, then you don't need to reinstall!

I run Acrobat Professional so that I can change/brand place/comment in the PDF files. At one point recently I noticed "Acrobat Reader DC" in the name of the file at the top of the page. I do not have ask this or do anything to get there that I was aware of this. I adjusted for the new look of the screen and edited several files without incident. But yesterday, I opened a large file which had been addressed to me in Dropbox. When I downloaded and opened it and tried to change it, the selection tool was not aligned properly, so the selected areas were elsewhere on the page, where the cursor was. I restarted my computer and was able to change the file more or less normally (I noticed more little glitches with this CD player but I can live with them). But when tried to save the file with a new file name, like I always do to differentiate files that changed since the original files, the save window is empty. There is no option to save the file with a new file name. In fact. There is no option to save the file with the changes! I thought maybe it was a problem with this file only, but when I tried to edit a file provided by regular e-mail, I met the same problem trying to save to a new file name. What is the relationship between my old Acrobat Professional and Acrobat Reader DC? Why can't save files normally? I managed to save the changes I did by saving it in the cloud to Adobe (I had to then because I could not send the file by e-mail because of its size - I tried to send it to me)., but I'd rather widely navigate in Windows Explorer to work with files. I suspect that there is some simple aspects about what I am simply absent or do not know. Can anyone help?
Hi Nathalie,.
Please take a look at this thread and let us know if we get to the brand:
"Save as" box pop up does not allow me to save the document.
Best,

I always Save the files before putting them checked in preferences > Site so I can just work on files and press CMD + SHIFT + you download the file without first having to save it. This seems to be problematic in Dreamweaver CM³, particularly with large sites. I'm working on sites where tens of thousands of files and Dreamweaver can't seem to stick with it all... it is maybe the cache issue... do not know, but I had problems with time to hang long beachball of up to 5 full minutes.
Why wait 5 minutes and not only force-quit you ask? Because it ends up causing more problems and crashes when I open it again. I found that it's faster to simply let DW his vision quest because it is finally the beach.
Clues as to the best way to handle several huge websites and be able to switch back often and smoothly?
