Save mail to the server, not computer

In Mac Mail, is it possible to save my mail (Inbox, sent mail, etc.) on the server ONLY and don't have it download on my computer? I have a few different accounts from different providers (such as hotmail) and here the messages remain on the server only.

Use the interface of e-mail to the provider of the web mail rather than e-mail on your computer...

Within the Mail app and display the Inbox you can pull down on the list of e-mail using your finger and you should see a small reel spinning gear. Which indicates that his check new email.

You can also go into the settings of e-mail and calendars Contacts and view the settings there. Examine the settings of "search for new data. If the Push is enabled, then messages will be pushed to you if the email provider supports this feature. You can also set your accounts to use Fetch and set the frequency, he's going to go out and look for new e-mail messages.

  • iPad 2 is not removal of e-mails from the server

It is an intermittent problem that caused the problem for several years. We are an independent POP account that we use with a Macbook Pro, iPad 2 and my Android phone. The iPad is set to delete emails from the server when deleting the receipt of the iPad and occasionally it works - but often, deleted messages are charged even after the destruction repeated including the trash dump. This morning more than 300 have been reloaded after a few attempts to get rid of them. The iPad is up-to-date with all its software, and we cannot find anything on this end that could be the cause of the problem. I never have this issue with the Mac - deleted messages are gone, so it seems that the problem is not with our internet service provider.

This can help. By default, iOS Mail does not remove the server until a week has passed, even if the email is removed from your iOS device.

I would contact your email provider if you continue to have problems, especially for years. Emails coming back means they are still on the server of the email provider, and they keep you remove server.

  • possible to get the mails from the server?

    Hello.
One of my computers is down, I can't activate it now. I had all my correspondence of work on this (used Thunderbird, I don't remember exactly, but I'm afraid, I put the POP account here).
So I used my other computer, installed Thunderbird here and set the same account, but this time as IMAP.
The thing is that only later June 29 emails have been downloaded on the computer, and I really need to see some 'old' mails (not very, but at least 3-4 months). My broken computer is placed at the service only in August, and again, I'm not sure I can read my email that.
Is there a way to recover old emails on the server?

    Thank you.

You say "this time as IMAP" and you previously used POP. It is possible that the messages are still on the server (this is not a default configuration), but I think you would have seen them if they were there through your IMAP system connected to the network. Have you visited the server through its Web site to check?

Unfortunately, with the POP Protocol, messages are not likely to be on the server and you really need this broken computer to be ironed out. Make sure your technicians know that they must not remove or replace its data files!

Glib this type of query response is well, 'just get it back from your backup. Easily, said after the fact, but this experience can be a good point to consider if and how you could back up your data regularly to protect against similar problems in the future.

  • HOW CAN I DOWNLOAD MAIL FROM THE SERVER

Thunderbird has had in the past, a simple command, "Get Mail" that disappeared that I can tell. Need to get my messages on the server as some disappear just if I leave here too long and I never can tell what is "too long".

    Thank you

Download mail has not been deleted, but yours may be hidden.

In my humble OPINION, unless you have a formal contract with your email provider, you should show all emails stored on their server as transitional and not guaranteed to be here tomorrow.

  • How can I leave copies of e-mails on the server wildblue?

When I'm away from my computer and want to sign in to wildblue.net for my emails, they have already been downloaded to Thunderbird and does not show up on wildblue. Can you change it to emails remain on the web for certain number of days?

Thank you once again Christ1. I finally find some account settings on Thunderbird and went to server settings and had an arrow on 'leave messages on the server for 14 days. Yet, I am still unable to access my new emails from another computer when I'm away from the mine.

  • How to keep mail on the server

Why is my iPhone 5 removing the server emails when I put it on 'NEVER' to remove the server?  We use Bell and our mail with outlook. I had this problem since updating to IOS 9.  I have my email account, email from my husband and emails from my son on my phone, and whenever I read an email and delete it deletes it on our home server, so that, I read it my family did not have the chance to read it. I have my husband e-mails value archive instead of delete, (which I am not sure what is the difference between keep the emails and checking them but that is another topic), but at least he can read them when he wants to.  I wrote a message on my phone the other day, and of course it marked on the server too.

ANY help would be greatly appreciated!  TIA

It depends on the type of e-mail account. for POP, if you have to leave emails on the server they should still be there. If the account IMAP or Exchange, once it is actually deleted on the device, is will be removed form all devices. Goes same for activities such as posting emails: for IMAP it will (or should) mark on all devices.

In regards to deleting vs Archive, Archives place the message in a folder archive (where exactly depends on parameters and how you the provider maintains that), as opposed to completely remove.

  • I can re - download my mails on the server?

All my e-mail messages have been downloaded in outlook express 6, and then now are not available through my account charter.net. Can they be re-uploaded, so that I can access through my charter.net account?

In addition to Bruce's response, in the future go to tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | Advanced and check the leave a copy of messages on the server and also check remove them after a few days, so they accumulate for ever.  In this way messages will be always visible on the server after OE downloads them.

  • Cannot send e-mail to the server... get alerts of demand... except on a local wireless connection

This had led me batty since I got the phone.  My mail server is on my local network.  If I send an email from the local network without wire of the pre to my mail server quite well.  If I try to send an email via the network of sprint - or actually on the network wireless anyone, he's going through.  I can sit here a my firewall monitor and the see through and I can also see it connect to my email server, so I know not that there is a good connection there.  I don't have any problems with imap works in any situation with the pre, so I'm sure something happens.

My firewall rules are the same for IMAP/IMAP-SSL/ESMTP/ESMTP-SSL (with just the ports change.)  I am able to send an email from my client of the laptop to my mail... Server and able to send an email from my Treo 755 p using snappermail on the network of sprint very well.

    The firewall is PFSense 1.2

Mail server is Courier 0.62.1 running on Centos 4.7 (no firewall running ip)

    Really confused!

    Thank you

Done this, and it still doesn't get me anywhere.

But I end up finally solve the problem...

It seems that my server ident checks had to timeout... who was taking too long for the final customer... so needless to say I said to my server does not perform a check ident and email send accelerated time.  good thing is this speeds also send other things too.

    It seems that the timeout for sending electronic mail of the pre is 'short' as< 30="" seconds="" or="" so..="" i'm="" not="" sure="" what="" the="" standard="" timeout="" should="" be..="" but="" my="" issue="" appears="" to="" be="">

Thanks halula for trying to direct me towards some additional info, but that debug information was not useful... I ended up doing some pre openssl commands and synchronization between local and remote have been, well... huge... once I passed this point... a moment of work helped google in the right direction.
