Save one even to run a function, whenever a document is saved

Hello

I m was looking in the manual JavaScript Illustrator... but can't find no not that kind of information. Can you tell me if I m missing something obvious?

I have a function and want to run this function whenever the user calls the process of saving the active document.

For example, the script runs. If the user, go to file > save or file > save as, and then... Illustrator calls the function 'x' in my script;

Is this possible? Where can I find information on how to record events in Illustrator?

Thank you very much

Gustavo.

I is not an eventListener. ID do, but he did not his way to still HAVE it.

  • Check if the layer is visible and run a function according to the answer

    Hey guys,.

    I have a question that has been racking my brain these days.

    If I want to run a script when I press a button that will check if a specific layer is visible. If so, it performs another function that shows additional layers. If the specific layer is not visible, it checks the next layer to see if it is visible. This continues until it checks all the necessary layers and is a visible layer.

    Here's the script in question:

    EXPRESSIONS OF FOLKLORE

    Any help is appreciated seriously. Thank you guys!

    Hey guys, I promised that I would update this post to help others if I got the answer, so here:

    Firstly, the developer has created a function to automatically get the layer. I had problems to find ways to select layers, especially because the layers were nested in groups inside groups. This helped solve that. The function was this:

    function selectLayer(name) {
      var desc = new ActionDescriptor();
      var ref = new ActionReference();
      ref.putName( charIDToTypeID('Lyr '), name );
      desc.putReference( charIDToTypeID('null'), ref );
      desc.putBoolean( charIDToTypeID('MkVs'), false );
      executeAction( charIDToTypeID('slct'), desc, DialogModes.NO );
      return
    };

    Then call the layer using layer real name (assuming that your layer names are unique. If they aren't, you'll find yourself only to select the first layer with the same specific name) throughout your script file.

    IE. In my case, selectLayer ("actnStd"); or selectLayer ("actnWlk");

    You then set the visibility by using the following code:

    // show
    app.activeDocument.activeLayer.visible = true;
    // hide
    app.activeDocument.activeLayer.visible = false;

    Then use a function to check whether a layer is visible. If the layer is visible, you run the function show/hide layers respective:

    function CheckactnWlk() {
      selectLayer("actnWlk");
      if  (app.activeDocument.activeLayer.visible == true) {
      SelectactnWlk()
      }
      else  {
      CheckactnRun();
      }
    };

    So in the end, the final script looks like this:

    #target photoshop

    app.bringToFront();
    CheckactnStd();

    function CheckactnStd() {
      selectLayer("actnStd");
      if  (app.activeDocument.activeLayer.visible == true) {
      SelectactnStd()
      }
      else  {
      CheckactnWlk();
      }
    };

    function SelectactnStd() {
      selectLayer("topMskStd");
      app.activeDocument.activeLayer.visible = true;

      selectLayer("topStdTt");
      app.activeDocument.activeLayer.visible = true;

      selectLayer("topWlkTt");
      app.activeDocument.activeLayer.visible = false;

      selectLayer("topMskWlk");
      app.activeDocument.activeLayer.visible = false;

      selectLayer("topRunTt");
      app.activeDocument.activeLayer.visible = false;

      selectLayer("topMskRun");
      app.activeDocument.activeLayer.visible = false;
    };

    function CheckactnWlk() {
      selectLayer("actnWlk");
      if  (app.activeDocument.activeLayer.visible == true) {
      SelectactnWlk()
      }
      else  {
      CheckactnRun();
      }
    };

    function SelectactnWlk() {
      selectLayer("topMskStd");
      app.activeDocument.activeLayer.visible = false;

      app.activeDocument.activeLayer.visible = false;

      selectLayer("topMskRun");
      app.activeDocument.activeLayer.visible = true;

    };

    function selectLayer(name) {
            var desc = new ActionDescriptor();
            var ref = new ActionReference();
            ref.putName( charIDToTypeID('Lyr '), name );
           desc.putReference( charIDToTypeID('null'), ref );
           desc.putBoolean( charIDToTypeID('MkVs'), false );
           executeAction( charIDToTypeID('slct'), desc, DialogModes.NO );
           return
    };

    app.preferences.rulerUnits = rUnit;
    app.preferences.typeUnits = tUnit;

    selectLayer("actnStd");

    Guys good luck! Now to find how to select random layers via the script.

  • Save the function remembers a case in which a document is saved in

    Wow,

    It takes about 10 minutes before it is possible to ask a question. Why make it so difficult?

    In any case, the new Acrobat Reader DC has a very annoying problem. He does not remember where a specific document is saved.

    I am an academic and very often to use the option "search programs and files" to find and open a specific PDF that I can name, but not where they are. If I do a chance to this document, I want to be able to record in the original folder. For the moment, it's stupidly hard because the new version of DC shows that the last 5 files in which the files have been saved. In my case, that means that I still need to go to document properties, find the folder where the file is saved, and then press ctrl + s, find the correct folder and replace the existing file.

    It seems that the "Record" option is disabled in the current version...

    It is extremely heavy and has never been a problem before.

    Can it please be addressed?

    Thank you

    Simon

    Hi simons20624486,

    I'm extremely sorry for the inconvenience caused. Acrobat Reader DC doesn't remember the location of the folder where the file was selected while saving the PDF & default values at a given location. However, it records the folder locations where PDF files have been registered recently to save time.

    Kind regards

  • Feature request: Save as... from the iPad to cloud Document.

    I'm looking for a way to save money... of the tablet to the document cloud.

    First quick background:

    I created a template on my laptop with Adobe Acrobat DC and saved this template to the Document cloud.

    -This model has text boxes to type and file boxes for quick selection.

    I then discovered the same model on my iPad.

    -So I can type in the text boxes and make selections in all deposit boxes.

    However, once I completed the template there is no save under... function, that's why my changes could not be saved to the Document cloud.

    On the bottom of the screen, there are four options - from left to right (I dunno what they are actually called):

    Adobe DC.png

    Glasses - comment - search button - button eyes Share/Transfer button

    When you click on the button to the right (square with the top arrow) there are four options:

    • Shared file
    • Link sharing Public
    • Open to...
    • Print document

    I'm looking for a fifth option: Save under...

    This feature allows you to record what you come to the new PDF format to the Document cloud.

    Finally, if this feature does not exist and I'm doing something wrong, please I need your help. If there is really no way to record under... of the tablet to the document cloud, maybe this function can be implemented in a future update.

    Thank you in advance,

    Hello

    Thanks for the feedback and the detailed explanation!

    Unfortunately, Acrobat Reader mobile products (for example, iOS, Android, Windows Phone) do not yet support the function "Save as."

    You submit a feature request form?

    Adobe - feature request/Bug Report Form

    Our product management team will receive a notification by e-mail and account of your feature request for a future version.

    Please note that there is a way to accomplish the same thing in the current version.  However, it is not as convenient as "save under".  Because it requires additional steps.

    1. Transfer the PDF original (i.e. your "template") from your laptop to your iPad using iTunes or 'Open In' iOS feature of Apple Mail.  See How to open PDF documents in Adobe Acrobat DC for iOS (iPad version).
      Your original PDF document will appear in the section "Local".
    2. Duplicate the original PDF document and rename it.  For more details, see procedure manage files in format Adobe Acrobat, DC for iOS .
    3. Open the copy (not the original).
    4. Make changes.
    5. Press the share button on the lower bar.
    6. Select 'Save Adobe Document cloud' to download on the Document cloud.

    Is this an acceptable workaround solution for now?

    stage.addEventListener (Event.RESIZE, stageResized);

    wrap these next 3 lines in an if statement so maintimeline currentframe = x

    position().

    loadXml();

    initArrowButtons();

    slideTimer = new Timer (timer_delay);

    slideTimer.addEventListener (TimerEvent.TIMER, nextSlide);

    }

    You can always know what the current picture is by reading currentFrame peoperty:

    public function mainClass() {     addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, onEnterFrame);}

    private function onEnterFrame(e:Event):void {     switch(currentFrame) {          case 1;              frame1Function();          break;

              case 2:              frame2Function();          break;

              // etc.}
