Scam AVG

I've been compromised by AVG and it also attached to the piroform ccleaner.  I'm afraid it's going in my bank details.  What can I do?

Hello

(1) what version of Windows are you using?
(2) have you tried to uninstall AVG?

Method 1: You can try to uninstall AVG manually by referring to the article mentioned below:
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/314481

Important note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not uninstall your antivirus software.  If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is uninstalled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Method 2: You can run a full scan by clicking on the link below:
http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

I suggest you to change the password of your bank account.

Please contact the support team AVG for other issues referring to the link below:

I hope this information helps!

They did not provide me with any phone # and address internet E-mail "mark@microsoft windowscheckup.com" does not work. Any suggestions?

  • How can I make sure I have need of aid is a legimate technician. just been scammed by someone representing as my virus protection company

pop up kept appearing on the lower right of the computer saying I had infections more 5 000.  He showed my company logo protection antivirus (AVG) and because the computer was slow and freezing I connected.  He registered a phone number to call for help.  I called, explained my problem and the man said: I'll connect you with a technician.  I specifically asked if he was in this country, and he said he was in Connecticut.  The reason I asked was because I am deaf it made it difficult to understand people with accents.  I really thought that I was speaking with moy.  After many hours remotely connected to my computer, my computer was worse than before that I called him shaped and $ 120.00.  I called AVG to complain and told me that I was probably being scammed and to check with my Bank and credit company to have all changed.  Of course, I took care of him.  The Bank assured me they would check on "GuruAid" and yesterday I received an email from them (GuruAid), say that there is no charge.

I am never in a situation like this, once again.  My question is: How can I make sure I have need of aid is a legitimate technician.  Seems many companies can fool you into believing that you talk with a legitimate business.

Easy - contact them and not the reverse; This way you can check before using.

Oops... and now I'm worried that he put in the spyware or something... instead of my computer works better... It slowed to a crawl?  any help?

    can I find somehow?

    Hello

The Net is full of scams like the one you describe.

Either they want you sell software without value or plant spyware to steal banking passwords and / or make an identity theft on you.

You should never give someone at - it remote access to your computer.

And if you already have an Antivirus installed, you do not install another AV before removing the first.

More than one AV installed will cause system problems.

Here is the link to the AVG removal tool:

    http://www.Avg.com/ww-en/utilities

But my advice to you is to backup your data and reinstall the operating system.

It's the only way you'll know for certain that you deleted something they've installed.

Also change the banking and credit card details / passwords with your credit card company, Bank.

    See you soon.

  • PC online help. Are they BONE fide or is it a scam?

A few weeks before, I had a call from a man with an Indian accent, saying that it represents a company called PC online help. He said that Microsoft had informed them (and Yes, an automatic error message had been sent, apparently to Microsoft, when I had a problem an hour or so earlier) that I had problems with the slow operation. He said that his company is in partnership with Microsoft by using technology.

I paid £99 (for one year of tech support cover) you need and their person tech remote access to my computer laptop and supposed to be cleaned! And he speeded up significantly since!  He also replaced my AVG anti-virus with free download Avira free.

I have three questions-1. Have I been scammed? 2. is he now an implication of safety, for example my online banking data has been compromised? 3. how my laptop be remotely but once again, even if I now would not allow that?

    Yes, you have been scammed.

This is a scam and that is becoming more and more common lately. But even worse, if you let them into your computer, who knows what damage they did here or what confidential information they stole.

So, I highly recommend that you do both of the following immediately:

1 do a clean reinstall of Windows.

    2. change all your passwords, especially all of banks or other financial sites.

What is strange, it's your machine run faster, and have replaced them with Avira AVG; Avira is much better than AVG.

In addition, if you paid by credit card, call your credit card company and see if they can get your money back.

  • Microsoft scam? Had 2 calls from a person claiming to be MS and saying: I have a virus

    original title: 'MICROSOFT' SCAM?

Hello, I got 2 phone calls this week to an Indian sounding man claining it is from Microsoft and that my computer is attacked by a massive virus. It then asks me to check start / my app work/manage/computer/management and says you can see the warnings that we sent you. There are warnings, so the first time, he did, I thought but has no confidence in him, even if I did say that he had arrived since I downloaded Microsoft Security Essentials, which he found very interesting. Then, I finished the call and removed MSE and reinstalled AVG free. I scanned the PC (with MSE previously) and AVG and no threat or anything found. He or someone similar - rang again this morning with the same terrible warnings, but my wife ended the call quickly. Are you aware of this presumable scam? Or was it authentic? Please notify.

    Hello

Much of the below are the same that the ball was suggested to use the others. If these also
do not detect malware, then you can be quite sure, as much as possible, only files
AVG found are false positives or if you have a program that pretends to be AVG which is not.

If you need search malware here's my recommendations - they will allow you to
scrutiny and the withdrawal without ending up with a load of spyware programs running
resident who can cause as many questions as the malware and may be harder to detect as
    the cause.

No one program cannot be used to detect and remove any malware. Added that often easy
to detect malicious software often comes with a much harder to detect and remove the payload. Then
its best to be thorough than paying the high price later now too. Check with them to one
extreme overkill point and then run the cleaning only when you are sure that the system is clean.

It can be made repeatedly in Mode safe - F8 tap that you start, however, you must also run
the regular windows when you can.

TDSSKiller.exe. - Download the desktop - so go ahead and right-click on it - RUN AS ADMIN
It will display all the infections in the report after you run - if it will not run changed the name of
TDSSKiller.exe to tdsskiller.com. If she finds something or not does not mean that you should not
check with the other methods below.

Thugs loading as usual but then programs are supported by the system functions that make the machine

  • Windows Tech Support Ayogi scam

Nearby, I fell for a scam of Technical Service by Indian operators under the guise of Ayogi, a company with a good reputation. They call on the pretext that your computer was sending error messages to Microsoft for 2 weeks and therefore political company to study the impact. They first try to prove to you that they are genuine by obtaining gives you access to your internal error log file windows and you show a lot of error messages. In this case, it is 18000 MsiInstall.exe corruption errors.

They will try again to prove themselves by providing you with the true BSB number of Ayogi, intimate details of society and reciting your CSLID number, even when your internet connection is disconnected.
They get to perform a check of the hardware on your computer and if it returns as being out of warranty, they will offer 4 different warranty options (1 year, 2 years, 3 years warranty and lifetime ($400).) This includes 6 years of anti-virus for up to 5 computers
They will then request access to your computer via a remote access program and scan your system against viruses and errors using programs such as Advanced System Care and deep care. They will take care to show you what they do during their operation to complete the illusion of transparency.
They have access to the license codes for AVG anti-virus that will extend its life for up to 6 six years. They also have access to the license keys for Windows 7, which they used to fix a computer of brothers and sisters who had let his license expires.
They will also offer licenses to a security of the programs that you have installed ($50 for 6 years), if they see that you are currently using one! legal! free version of the product
It is also obvious that they have a lot of codes for most of the other security programs.
In the end they will direct the victim to the website of Western Union money exchange (the real deal) and does not extinguish unless asked remote viewing program.
They will get the victim to send money to a man, family name Pal in West Bengal. refuses the use of Paypal due to apparent security problems.

They need to submit the advice of good computer, such as backing up files on an external hard drive when they rip you off.
I did send money to them in the end. However, I am yet 6 AVG registration year and the Windows license they gave me.
I need to know how to purge malicious programs that can accumulate on my PC during this experience. I am not prepared to reconnect my computers to the internet until I'm sure that they are safe again.
Also need advice on what to do with the license keys that they enabled on my programs. They have not installed the new and so I think that they are still safe, but now fully licensed property. Should I delete these programs?
MsiInstall.exe is still slip out too, how can I fix?
I have also been locked out of my own PC and need help on how to access it again.

    Hello Stepheneverton,

You have allowed them access to your PC so, basically, they could have installed whatever it is you know. Unfortunately, there is that one piece of advice, and that is to re - install Windows and all your programs. I know it's radical, but it's the only way to ensure that your system is completely clean.

If your PC came with Windows pre-installed you either have a recovery disk or even the manufacturer of PC included a recovery partition on your hard drive. Check the website of the manufacturer of your PC (or the user of the PC guide) for more information on return to conditions at the factory.

Alternately, if you've used backup software to the image of your hard disk (recommended) then you could just as easily recreate the image on your hard disk from the previous backup image. of course, all of the programs that you installed after creating an image should be installed on your system.

Also, as pointed out by Palcouk, make sure you change all of your passwords. If you do online banking it is also wise to notify your bank who has committed a breach of security on your PC. Make sure you also change your password as online banking.

  • Ammyy scam

Hi, I got a call on October 16, by a guy from the Indian accent.

Saying that he had problems with my computer, etc...

Made me install ammyy, he told me that I had to buy $50 program

I discovered that it was a scam as soon as 3 minutes after, I did the following:

He disconnected ammyy, me am disconnected from the internet.

a system restore point to October 8.

Then I did a reinstall of system manufactured settings (new)

Did a scan with norton, found nothing

Uninstalled norton, installed AVG, done a scan in safe mode and online found nothing

Installed malewarebytes anti malware analyzed, found nothing.

I was wondering, if it was possible for them to look through other computers in the House, even if they had like 4 minutes.

I also installed search and destroy yesterday but nothing found

    Please help me.

    Hello

Since you've done a system recovery which should have wiped out something they did. The danger
It is that they have some of your passwords or private information.

  • Flash Player ' scam? Popup of Angelfire server on Mac

Unlike surf some websites hosted on the server 'Angelfire', someone has the last numbers to get annoyed at popup windows.  Every time when I visit a several sites hosted on Angelfire Server (http://www.angelfire.lycos.com), I keep getting too bored popups asking me to install the latest Flash Player (see screenshot below).

Anyone of you can try to visit a couple of the sites hosted on Angelfire server example and see if you get similar popups like this snapshot above?

Please let me know.  I think that this popup annoyed in the snapshot could be a scam, so that's why I keep the closing down and do want to install in my Macbook Pro.  Take a look at my latest version of Adobe Flash Player.

All the tips are greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

If popups are a scam or not, having a version update of Flash of common sense. He represented s = allowing you to run animations and online videos.

You can update Flash on the official website: adobe.com/products/flashplayer

  • Scam of Remoting. What they see?

So I fell for the scam of tech support, but my mom ended the call when they wanted $100. I just followed the instructions that the guy on the phone told me after I called them when I saw a pop up alert. I allowed the guy remotely to MacBook Air from my mother, who has her iCloud connected to it. A day after the remote access, my mother went to his notes on his iPhone and I saw that she had only three left instead of eighteen she had of the scam. I wanted to know if they were able to access his notes that are on her iCloud without knowing me. She has credit card information notes. Also, is it possible for them to continue access to distance even after closing of logmein?

You may have installed adware/malware. See if stimulus Safari with the SHIFT key down clears the question.
