Scans of partition take longer than a full table on a non-partitioned table scan?

Hello

I have a PART_TABLE range partitioned table that has 10 million documents and 10 partitions having 1 million records each. Partition is based on a column named ID, which is a sequence of 1 to 10 million.

I created another P2_BKP table (do a select * from part_table) which has the same group of data than that of PART_TABLE, except that this table is not partitioned.

Now, I run the same query on the tables to get a range of data. Precisely, I'm reading only the data present in 5 partitions of the partitioned tables that requires theoretically less reading than when done on non partitioned tables.

Yet the query seems to take more time on a table that is partitioned only when running on a non-partitioned table. No reason precisely why is this the case?

Here's the query I am trying to run on the tables and their Plans to explain corresponding.

Have you actually run the queries, or you assume that they will take different amounts of time because the execution plans show different numbers?

It is clear from the output of the execution plan that the statistics are not very good, since Oracle should have estimated about 5 M of lines for each request. That said, however, Oracle should have used the counties of partition block level to estimate the cost of the analysis of the 5 score - and we could expect them to a total of less space than a full copy.

Of course, it is possible that your partitioned table has been the subject of many DML involving the line movement and line of chaining; It is possible he has been the subject of many lots of parallel or direct path loads inserts leaving much free space in each partition. It is also possible that you have created the copy in a tablespace that table of default compression!

What are the stats for the original table partition level?   (select nom_partition, num_rows, blocks of user_tab_partitions where table_name = 'T1' partition_position order)

    I noticed Firefox slower than Google Chrome spear as well.

    It's good to hear that Firefox is faster in safe mode.
    Safe mode is faster because it turns off a lot of different modules, plugins and other things.

    Maybe have a look at the plugins as well in the plug-ins section and disable those you don't use often.

    You don't have to remove completely the plug-ins, but you can disable them also teporarily. In the menu dropdown.

    To completely remove a plug-in you can uninstall the software that comes with it. To do this take a look at this article: remove the Plug-ins.

    I don't expect Firefox to become as fast as Chrome, but following the steps above, I think that Firefox can speed up considerably.

    Help, please.
    Thank you.

    Hello

    The laptop seems to load windows slowly because too many processes would be loaded initially.
    First of all, I recommend to download and install the CCLeaner. This freeware tool would help you to clean the registry and remove the waste from the system.

    In addition, you should check your processes that would be loaded initially.
    Run msconfig and go to the Startup tab. Here you can disable any process necessary and not important.
    I put t know how much computer experience you have so be careful with that.
    If you n t know what exactly does the unique process, google for more details.
    Remove a mark of close process will disable this you can later too

    In addition, I would recommend checking your anti-virus software, I switched from Norton Antivirus software Avira Antivir because it is much faster and does not require a lot of hardware resources the Avira antivir is freeware software so you can install and use for free.

    Last but not least to defragment the HARD disk in order to ensure access to data faster

    When I stopped in Windows 7 the "Shutting Down" screen stays on for more than three minutes. I tried to start in safe mode, but I get the same result. I tried to disable third-party programs and get the same result.

    It's annoying when you have to restart.

    Do not press the power button to turn off the computer or to solve a gel. Click on the ORB at the bottom left of the desktop and click stop. If you are having shutdown problems, then select the hotkey Ctrl + Shift + Esc to bring up the Task Manager and click the Applications place the cursor on a running application to select and click on the end task button. As the application is removed from the list, repeat the procedure on the next application in the list until all are gone from the list. If you use the taskbar to access programs simply close all open windows. Then, you should be able to shut down your computer.

    Thank you, Cheryl

    Hi cgibson,.

    Thank you for using communities Support from Apple.

    I see that you are going through a process of restoring iCloud on your iPad, and it takes longer than expected.  The speed to iCloud restoring has a couple of factors, including the speed of your wireless network.  For more information on why this process can take some time and how to follow the process, please see below:

    Restore my device from a backup to iCloud takes a long time

    Restoring a backup can take time because of the size of the backup or the speed of Wi - Fi network. For example, iCloud may take about 1 to 4 hours per gigabyte during a restore process.

    There are several steps that follow:

    • In iOS 8 or later, check the status of the transfer on your device under settings > iCloud > Backup. If the restore process is in progress, the backup setting is gray.
    • Make sure that your device is connected to the Internet with reliable WiFi.
    • Make sure that your device is plugged into a power outlet.
    • Check the Apple progress bar that is displayed during the transfer of a backup.

    If you need help, restore your device from a backup to iCloud

  • Full table scan - condition of partition ignored

    Hello world.

    I ask a table partitioned, and when I hard code a condition of date on partitioned column, the query runs as expected - that is to say making reference to the partition in question.

    I want to automate the application - and the date of the partition will vary each month (it is based on the last load of lots in our database from the previous month) - so I have a subquery that will get the date of the partition. The question I have is that when I run my query (including the subquery) - the explain command plan indicates that I now do a full table scan - I don't really want to. I read in some documents and came across this:

    + ' However, the optimizer do prune partitions if the SQL statement applies to a function to the partitioning (with the exception of the TO_DATE function) column ".". " +

    My subquery contains several functions. Has anyone encountered this before and managed to work around? Ideally, I really need to try to find a solution that involves no PL/SQL, the query will be executed in Business Objects.

    Any help or pointers greatly appreciated.

    Void Query =

    (SELECT TO_CHAR (TO_DATE (MAX (SUBSTR (A.PARTITION_NAME,-8)), 'YYYYMMDD'), 'YYYYMMDD') batch_date)

    FROM DBA_TAB_PARTITIONS WHERE A.TABLE_OWNER = 'BUSINT_OWNER' AND A.TABLE_NAME = "TBL_FACT_DAILY_PLAN_BALANCE."

    AND TO_CHAR (TO_DATE (SUBSTR(A.PARTITION_NAME,-8), 'YYYYMMDD'), 'MONTH') = TO_CHAR (ADD_MONTHS (TRUNC (SYSDATE),-1), 'MONTH'))

    Ouch!... Dates in the form VARCHAR2s! This will be just one of your many and varied ;-) problems

    In any case, go you could achieve this through PL/SQL, where you limit the SELECT for a partition only, use dynamic SQL Native ("EXECUTE IMMEDIATE"):

    ...
    v_tab_part VARCHAR2(8);
    v_sql VARCHAR2(2048);
    ...
    BEGIN
    SELECT TO_CHAR(TO_DATE(MAX(SUBSTR(A.PARTITION_NAME,-8)),'YYYYMMDD'),'YYYYMMDD')
    INTO  INTO v_tab_part
    FROM DBA_TAB_PARTITIONS A WHERE A.TABLE_OWNER = 'BUSINT_OWNER' AND A.TABLE_NAME = 'TBL_FACT_DAILY_PLAN_BALANCE'
    AND TO_CHAR(TO_DATE(SUBSTR(A.PARTITION_NAME,-8),'YYYYMMDD'),'MONTH') = TO_CHAR(ADD_MONTHS(TRUNC(SYSDATE),-1),'MONTH');

    v_sql =
    'SELECT' ||
    ' /*+ USE_HASH (A B C D E F G) */ ' ||
    ...
    'FROM ' ||
    'TBL_FACT_DAILY_PLAN_BALANCE PARTITION (' || v_tab_part || ') C,' ||
    'BCP_STG D, ' ||
    ...
    'WHERE f.dac_end_date >= max_part.batch_date ' ||
    'and B.DAS_PK = F.DAC_ACC_STATUS_FK ' ||
    ...
    'GROUP BY ' ||
    ...

    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE v_sql;

    END;

    However one thing, you could try prior to that would be to change the last attempt with the WITH CLAUSE of:

    C.FDP_DATA_DATE = max_part.batch_date

    VOY

    C.FDP_DATA_DATE IN (max_part.batch_date)

    Unlikely to make a difference, perhaps, but worth a try

  • Thunderbird may take more than a minute to open, how to fix this?

    Sometimes the thunderbird program may take more than a minute to open, sometimes it only takes 20 seconds. How long this program normally does open?
    What can I do to speed up this process?

    To diagnose problems with Thunderbird, try one of the following:

    • Restart Thunderbird with disabled modules (Thunderbird Safe Mode). On the Help menu, click "restart with disabled modules. If Thunderbird works as usual, there is an add-on or theme interfere with normal operations. You will need to reactivate the modules one at a time until you locate the offender.
    • Restart the operating system in safe mode with network. This loads only the basics needed to start your computer while allowing Internet access. Click on your operating system for instructions on how to start in safe mode: Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, OSX
    If the safe mode for the operating system to resolve the problem, there are other software on your computer that is causing problems. The possibilities include but not limited to: AV scanning, virus/malware, background downloads such as updates of the program.
  • Put into service takes more than 15 minutes. Stop is worse. It hangs at "closing Windows" regardless of the programs that I run is extremely slowly.

    Original title: start & close problem. Slow response

    My PC is running Window XP SP2. I did all the updates.

    Recently commissioning takes more than 15 minutes. Stop is worse. It hangs at the "closing Windows.
    Whatever programs that I run is extremely slow.
    I ran virus scan, microsoft fixed, but the problem persists.

    Well, I think you don't like it, but the first thing to do is to eliminate by using their special tools Norton Uninstall program:

    https://www-secure.Symantec.com/Norton-support/JSP/help-solutions.jsp?LG=English&CT=United+States&docid=20080710133834EN&product=home&version=1&PVID=f-home

    Now, you might think I be without protection and get some bad things on my computer, but you just want to see how things are going without it.  Just don't visit WWW stupid or silly sites, where you can pick up some virus or malware and you can always install a new copy, but I think it's a big headache for you now.

    It might be out of date, too many options of protection installed, etc.  More protection is not always better, and you will pay for it in the performance of the system with the more stuff you add.

    Then when Norton is gone, proceed as follows:

    No matter what you use for malware protection, follow these steps:

    Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs at:
    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/
    They can be uninstalled later if you wish.
    Restart your computer and solve the outstanding issues.

    Consider instead of Microsoft Security Essentials or Norton - he did a good job.

    We must eliminate what can cause problems, so I'd start with Norton.  You can put it back later if you want, but you need to see how things are going without it.  Moving things to a good operating system that you are happy with first.

    Eliminate potential problems one at a time and test thing out... one thing at a time.

    Symantec/Norton is you biggest problem right now.

    Check your NVIDIA drivers:

    I use the NVIDIA site and let scan them online take a look at your video system and see what he suggests for drivers and consider their analysis if they offer a new driver.

    It is recommended to run the scan NVIDIA with Internet Explorer.

    Here is the address of the NVIDIA page:
    http://www.nvidia.com/download/Prescan.aspx?lang=en-us

    Read the instructions, and then click the DRIVERS GRAPHICS button to start scan and answered in the affirmative, if asked to install the plugin required to run the NVIDIA scan.

    Get rid of Norton.

    Hello

    Since a few days, it takes more than 30 to 60 minutes to open Firefox on my laptop. I'm on Vista and have Anti Virus. I already tried to reset firefox, uninstalled and installed again. My version of firefox is 29. But nothing seems to help.

    Can you please help in this regard, that I really like using Firefox, but because of this problem, I am forced to use other browsers.

    Thank you
    Gerard

    It is possible that your security (firewall, antivirus) software blocks or limit Firefox or the process of plugin-container without you inform, possibly after the detection of changes (update) for the Firefox program.

    Delete all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container in the permissions list in the firewall and leave your firewall again ask permission get full and unrestricted, access to the internet for Firefox and the plugin-container and the update process.

    See:

    Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem.

    • Put yourself in the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance
    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode safe

    Create a new profile as a test to see if your profile is the source of the problem.

    See "create a profile":

    If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a profile already used in the new profile, but be careful not to copy files corrupted to avoid transporting on the problem

  • After updating to the latest version of Itunes, it works really slow, takes more than a minute to recognize my Iphone and will not correctly backup my Iphone

    IPhone 6 64 IOS 9.3.1 runs the latest version of ITunes 12.3.3.17

    After I updated to the latest version of ITunes, when I run the synchronization, it goes through the six steps, and then returns the message that the backup has failed

    Running on a 64-bit Windows 8.1 Dell computer.

    ITunes now works much more slowly. Takes a long time to load. It takes more than a minute after I plug in my Iphone for the IPhone to be recognized by Itunes.

    I rebooted the machine. Remove the locked file. All have failed to solve the problem

    For general advice, see troubleshooting problems with iTunes for Windows updates.

    The steps described in the second case are a guide to remove everything related to iTunes and then rebuild what is often a good starting point, unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review other cases and a list of documents to support further down the page, in which case one of them applies.

    More information area has direct links with the current and recent if you have problems to download, need to revert to a previous version or try the version iTunes for Windows (64-bit-for old video cards) as a workaround for the problems of performance or compatibility with third-party software.

    Your library must be affected by these measures, but it is also related to backup and recovery advice if necessary.

    If you have tried the suggestions above without success, then another option is to go back to the previous version of iTunes that has worked for you. See the roll back tips to installers of iTunes. Roll back of 12.3.3 will be to restore the pre-upgrade library in the previous iTunes libraries folder.

  • How do full table scan

    Hi all

    I have a table which is accesed by application every 5 seconds. Now, this table has several delete insert updates current. The table size is aprox 200 MB (high tide) and there is say 5 ranks, which will be a sentence of 20 to 30 KB. My CMS is say 2 GB. So now the stats are not met and there is no index in this table. Now I see full table scan as his wait event. Now, I want to know.

    How a scan full of tabel happens Oracle load the entire 200MB of data in the SGA and then do a table scan or should just the actual size used by the table IE 20 to 30 KB.

    Thank you

    A

    Hello

    high waters is precisely the limit up to which Oracle must read to be sure that all the data has been seen, so if you have only about 30 KB of data in the table, even if the data is in the first a few blocks from the table, a complete analysis must read the 200 MB (which is not so good but takes more time to read a few blocks). (the reason is that it was once the data written in this block and it triggered the HWM),

    You can reorganize the table (alter table mytable move or use DBMS_REDEFINITION so that you can do this, the application uses the table) to reset the HWM. ("If the current small" size used"is transient and if you expect the table to increase again to use 200 MB or more, don't need to reorg; do it if you are confident that the table will remain very weak)

    Best regards

    Brno Vroman.
