Screen lock turns on after 5 minutes, even if turned off in screen saver

My new installation pro 8 victory is affecting the black screen and locking the computer (have connection) after 5 minutes, even if I have wide screen saver (or value black screen for 15 minutes), no change of power or standby screen setting seems heal.  It's a pain when you are watching a movie or some such.  I found a work around in a little app called movemouse that move the mouse every 30 seconds, but I should be able to disable the function.

Anyone else see this?

Hi Jim,.

Found the answer.

I had added my accounts Gmail and Exchange of the Windows Mail application. Two security policies applied. It seems that the Exchange account forced a timeout/lock slowed down to 15 minutes. I went to user accounts via the classic Control Panel, and click Reset security policies. Issue disappeared at this time. I'm testing to see if the problem remains fixed after a reboot.

Apparently, just remove the accounts does not solve this problem. In fact, you must reset such security policies described above.

  • My monitor times out after 10 minutes, even with all the power settings set to 'never '.

How the hell can I stop the monitor to close every 10 minutes?

Are you sure that the monitor stops and it is not the screen saver 'Black Screen '?

If you are sure that the monitor is turned off:

Have you already checked the Plan "Advanced settings" (a link on the page edit Plan settings), make sure that 'turn off the display after...' is set to 'never '. Or maybe you need to set "Adaptive screen Shutdown" OFF.

If it still does not, maybe it is a parameter of your graphics card, use the Control Panel then.

  • Num Lock turns off

When I restart Windows 8 the Num Lock key turns off.  Why? How can I stop this happening?

I found that if I reboot, NumLock remains sometimes, other times it doesn't. If I stop completely and then restart, it never stays.

However, I have found a fix (sort of) (for a computer that has the problem)
I created the office and shortcuts start screen on all my computers to close and restart their with 1 click in the instructions on: http://blog.laptopmag.com/how-to-shutdown-windows-8-in-just-one-click and this seems to have finally solved the problem. The NumLock key is always present when I shut down and restart this computer.
Now I can deal with other problems that this computer is having since I've upgraded to Windows 8 Pro on this subject.

    Hi Dionysus17,

AFAIK the only way to solve this problem is to disable the auto-lock on your iPad. To do this, go to settings > General > lock and from here you can choose when you want to stay for before your locks iPad screen.

    Hope this helps,

  • Monitor sleep after 5 minutes

    Hello

My monitor has all of a sudden going to sleep after 5 minutes, even if I set it to "never" in my power management. I can't find anywhere where it says go to sleep in 5 minutes. If anyone can help?

    Kind regards

    KK

In addition to power management, check the settings of the screen saver.  Right click on the desktop and choose personalize, then click screensaver at the bottom right.  Make sure it is set to "none" instead of something like 'black screen '.

In addition, even if you have the timeout set to never monitor in power management, also check the setting "change when the computer sleeps" on the left side.

First, try a forced reboot. Obviously, you will need to wait a few days to see if his works. It will affect all the data.

To force the reboot your device, press and hold the two buttons of sleep/wake and home for at least ten seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

If the forced reboot does not fix it, try this. Reset all the settings. You won't lose any data, but all the parameters of the device will have to be entered again in the settings app. This includes the WiFi network passwords, settings > general > reset > reset all settings.

  • BlackBerry smartphone WI - FI does not turn off

Just got a new BB Curve 9360. I keep trying to turn off WIFI to save the life of the battery, but when I click on WIFI in the management area of the connections it starts spinning turns back on after a few seconds. It is a kind of automatic connect feature that turns the WIFI if it detects a signal?  If so where can disable this function?

Hello and welcome to the community!

What you describe is quite unusual... so... each time a random strange behavior or slow creeps, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the hood back and remove the battery. Wait a minute, then replace the battery and cover. Power on and wait patiently through the long reboot - about 5 minutes. See if things return to functioning. Like all computing devices, BB suffers from memory leaks and others... with a hard reboot is the best remedy.

    Best!

Now, by clicking the scroll wheel on an empty area should do nothing.

    Hello JDG_SF, welcome.

These options are very likely controlled by your GP (Group Policy) settings on your domain. Due to the nature of the work of rights how administrative, there is no way to work around this problem, unless you have access to change group policy settings that affect all the machines on your network.

You would need to access or to change the settings of GP or find someone who already has access.
