Screen touch questions with speaker-repaired Defy

After the issued speaker repaired by Motorola UK service last week, everything seemed fine for a few days until - seemingly out of the blue - touch screen seems to lose the ability to properly recognize a tap - and hold. A tap-and-hold was seen as many quick taps, then try to move an icon on the Launcher or by drag and drop to rearrange a list was impossible - I found myself deeply in the unwanted menus in a few seconds. A factory reset solved the problem, but it happened again a few days later. Although, for now, it seems to be held after a second factory reset, I also noticed that I lost the ability to tap-and-hold to remove several whole words in Swype (he removes one and then it's there) and I have to be much faster and more accurate when the tapping and holding in general - I have to move an item in a milisecond to the vibration of the acknowledgement of receipt or it does not and it's there.

The technician, income worksheet with the phone, he mentions the generic "software update" as one made things. It is not asked for. I can only assume that was last updated Motoblur software 2.51.1 version. One of the "advantages" in the information PDF (see attachment file) was "improved performance to touchscreen. TCH. The touchscreen used perfectly before the update, and I'm not happy that something was done that was not specifically requested - it was only a necessary physical repairs.

As a factory reset solved the problem, I can't assume this is software and not associated material - but I really don't want to go through the whole kaboodle if this happens again. Any suggestions? Any way I can reset the touch screen issue, if this happens again, by deleting certain files preferably obscure? Any way to go back to the previous version of the software?

Last update (I hope) - just received the device back from repair and everything seems fine. They have updated the firmware and that you have installed 2.2.2. Of the touch screen is no more.

I want to thank one person in particular in Motorola UK call centre - if you ever have reason to call them and talk to a Scottish guy called Shaun, you will be lucky. He was friendly and helpful throughout the entire process, including repeatedly remind me to liaise between me and the repair center, gneral updates, provide shipping references, etc.. I wasn't expecting this great help. So if you have to call them, please do not forget that most of the questions appears to be among the less-than-wonderful Ltd SBE, and people on the helpline do their job to the best of their abilities - especially Shaun. If you are being nice to them, you're going to get something done. Thanks Shaun. You the man.

    I bought a Tablet Toshiba still WT8-A-102 a couple of weeks, and unfortunately, I cracked the protection glass, a fall on a concrete slab.

    Anyway, long story short:

    The LCD is intact, the touch function works (95% of the time, about 95% of the surface of the Tablet), only the protective glass is cracked, no splinters seconded, just a simple crack that runs through the entire length of the Tablet nice zig - zag.

    ~ 300 EUROS for sale at retail and service price, they asked for about 160 EUROS fix the thing (which I think this is outrageous).

    So, I'm looking for using the following questions:

    (1) I can't find a service manual. I need one to see if it is mandatory to replace the whole or just the glass screen / touch as well as for finding how to disassemble / mount the thingie.

    (2) depending on the answer to the first question, I'm looking for spare parts (i.e. either a display or the touchscreen device, as I have a VERY good repairer, which ows me a favor, that is why the replacement would cost me nothing)

    (I'm well aware I'm void the warranty, but given the service invoice by the official service of Toshiba, I find myself with choice of o).

    Service manuals are not available for public use. As far as I know, that these manuals are available only for authorized service agents, engineers, etc.

    Hi, I have Windows 7 and the Sound Blaster Recon 3D PCIe audio device. In the last few weeks, I noticed that some videos will play without problem and some have the following problem: the music and ads are ok. Videos with speaking parts (last tested on the episode of Letterman with Tina Fey as a guest) does not work well. Specifically, I hear a noise when they speak. But if I keep place the volume of the speaker (on the icon) and keep clicking the open icon, the sound begins to get stronger and you can actually hear it above his ' ding ding ' by clicking on the icon of the speaker volume. I've never had this happen before. I don't think I did something different from my usual activities lately and haven't downloaded all new program. Music plays without problem.     Just an update.  Problem solved. Faulty speaker connections. Did not touch the connections before the problem, so not sure what happened to these connections, but the problem is resolved. Thank you.

    If you have not saved your data and you want to start the computer with Linux Livecd such as Knoppix and copy your data files on an external hard drive. It is a precautionary measure before the step follows because things happens. ;-)

    Someone had experience with the process of repair of HP? They just swap my laptop on for some old renovated piece of junk with a new set of problems, or will I get my actuall back machine? I also believe that my HARD drive is dead, and of course I was unable to erase its contents before sending it. HP will ensure that all my data is destroyed before disposing or restore disk? All of my personal information is out there and how these corporations are so sloppy with personal data, there wonder if I should just keep the old drive and buy a new one, even if it is still under warranty.

    Its simple, just send the computer in the repair center. They will look in the computer for problems. Solve problems with the replacement of parts which went wrong, re - install the operating system and return the computer to you.

    I use a laptop Dell XPS M1330, under Vista Home Premium 32 Bit. The laptop froze, I tried to do a system restore, which did not work. Now the laptop goes into startup each time put on repair. A message window appears saying "Startup Repair cannot repair the computer automatically. Startup Repair window says "Startup Repair could not detect a problem. Diagnostics details say: Root cause found: the operating system version is incompatible with Startup Repair tool.

    I tried to use the Dell Factory Image Restore to restore the system, but it does not end. I get an error message instead. There is no details, it's just a small window with an X and the Word error.

    I also tried to use resettlement Dell DVD, but that doesn't seem to work either.

    Vista does not start at all, not in either safe mode.

    I just ran to the Dell Diagnostics tool, and that is to say that the integrity test of memory has failed... No idea how to solve this problem?

    I'm at a loss and helps woukld be appreciated.

  • Vista 64-bit Black Screen of Death, with just a mobile available slider, the system does not start in safe mode.

    My system worked properly on 25 April and then something happened and now the machine comes back with "Start menu options" but will not start in one of the listed options, modes result in the same outcome.  System also starts on the Vista CD.

    System begins to boot normally, shows the tracer Green Windows at the bottom of the screen, then the mouse pointer appears and moves but the rest of the screen remains black.

    That's it, that's all what he will do.  I checked the settings of the computer and ran the diagnostic tests available and everything seems to go fine and passes all the tests.

    I worked on my own computers for over 20 years and never been stumped before, but I must say this is a first, and I have no idea what to try to do it now.

    Help or direction is appreciated.

    See if there is a way to tecover clean your data before doing a restore to conditions of factory that will wipe the drive of all.  You can use Knoppix http://www.knopper.net/knoppix/index-en.html with a good ISO as Copier: http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm as well as a blank CD (which you will need to do on another computer).  Starting on this disc and lla should give you enough access to the system (if you do not have any other means) to backup your important data.

    So since you seem to have no other alernatives, you can try retoring the original factory computer options. However, if it is a hardware problem as could very well be the case, you can still encounter problems after even this drastic step.  Then you will need to consider in a reputable computer repair shop (NOT Geek Squad or or a any of these big store centers) or maybe even go back to the manufacturer for repair.   Check out several options and compare the costs, quality and guaranteed and then make your best decision.
