  • IOM 9.1.0.2 - Multi Weblogic JDBC for Oracle RAC Data Sources

    IOM-IOM 9.1.0.2 BP07 supports Weblogic JDBC Multi Data Sources (Services > JDBC > Multi Data Sources) for Oracle RAC instead of insert the "Oracle RAC JDBC URL" on xlDS and xlXADS JDBC Data Sources (Services > JDBC > Data Sources > xlDS | xlXADS > survey login > URL)?
    If so, are there any other changes that must be made on IOM, or simply to change data sources?

    Yes, it is supported. You install against a single instance directly of the Rac server. Then you update the file config.xml and jdbc resources in your server weblogic with the full address of rac. It is documented for installation against CARS. http://docs.Oracle.com/CD/E14049_01/doc.9101/e14047/database.htm#insertedID2

  • Difference between Enterprise Edition and Standard Edition for Oracle RAC

    Hello

    In our current configuration we have CARS on standard edition and customer is now considering to go to Enterprise Edition, but not yet to decide because of the cost.

    Is there a difference between the Infrastructure of grid 11gR 3 Enterprise edition and Standard Edition?

    They told me first install Enterprise Edition and then will move to Standard Edition if they can not get the EA license, so in this case do I have to re - install standard edition network infrastructure?

    Hello

    There is no "grid Infrastructure 11gR 3 Enterprise edition and Standard Edition", is the only Infrastructure of grid 11 GR 2.

    On the Oracle Clusterware licenses (grid Infrastructure).
    At least one of the servers in the cluster is allowed for the Oracle database (SE1, SE or EE)
    A cluster is defined to include all machines that share the same Oracle Cluster Registry (OCR) and the drive to vote.

    On the licensing database.
    http://www.Oracle.com/us/products/database/Enterprise-Edition/comparisons/index.html

    Note: Oracle Real Application Clusters (Oracle RAC), is an option to Oracle Database 11 g Enterprise Edition and included with Oracle Database 11 g Standard Edition (on clusters with a maximum of 4 Sockets).
    If you move to EA Oracle, you must purchase a separate license to use the RAC option

    Regarding the Installation:
    Nothing changes on your current installation of Grid Infrastructure 11.2
    Just install a new fresh install to choose EF of the Oracle (the current clusterware) database during installation. Configure services database from this new HOME of ORACLE. Change anything on the database of all the previous backup and used functionality remains unchanged. With the help of this new House Oracle new features are enabled to be used by your databases.

  • Model reusable SQL Oracle to create a DDL/DML Scripts for Oracle database

    Hello

    I have an obligation to set up a model of Oracle SQL to create the Scripts DDL/DML reusable for Oracle databases.
    Only the Oracle DBA will run scripts permissions is not a problem.

    The workflow for any DOF is as follows:-

    (1) new table

    a. check whether the table exists in the views system/admin.
    b. If the table exists then give message "Table exists".
    c. If the table does not exist then run DDL code

    (2) add the column

    a. check if the column exists for a given table of the system/admin views
    b. If the column exists in the specified table.
    B1. backup table.
    B2. ALTER table alter column
    B3. check data or execute convert dml sauvegardΘ to the new change script.
    c. If the column does not exist
    C1. backup table
    C2. ALTER table add column
    C3. Run dml to populate the column with the default value.

    The DML scripts are to populate the base tables with the data required for business operations.

    (3) addition of new line

    a. check if the line exists by comparing the old values of each column with the new values to be added for the new record.
    b. If there is, to give message line is
    c. If not exists, add the new record.

    (4) update existing record (we createtime columns in these tables as well as changes can be tracked)

    a. check if the row exists using the primary key.
    b. If there is.
    B1. off the record by using the "active" column of the table
    B2. Add new record with the necessary changes.
    c. If does not exist, add the new record with the necessary changes.

    Could you please help with some ideas that can get this done with precision?
    I tried several ways, but I am not able to set up something that meets all the requirements.

    Thank you

    If it helps at all. Sometimes we have a requirement for a DDL statement to be rerunable and her only error if something completely unexpected happens.

    It's a little monstrous, but basically, we wrap all DDL in a dynamic statement and capture errors that would indicate that the DDL script has already been run:

    Here's a bit of a model:

    declare
       w_ddl varchar2(32767);
    begin
       begin
          --
          dbms_output.put_line('Creating table TABLE_NAME');
          --
          w_ddl := 'CREATE TABLE MY_SCHEMA.TABLE_NAME
                    ( COLUMN_1     DATE          NOT NULL
                     ,COLUMN_2  VARCHAR2(10)  NOT NULL
                     ,COLUMN_3  DATE
                    )';
           --
          execute immediate w_ddl;
          --
          dbms_output.put_line('Successfully created table TABLE_NAME');
          --
       exception
          when others then
             if sqlcode = -955 then
                dbms_output.put_line('Table Already exists.');
             else
                dbms_output.put_line('creation of table TABLE_NAME failed:');
                dbms_output.put_line(sqlerrm);
                raise;
             end if;
       end;

      begin
          --
          dbms_output.put_line('Creating unique primary key constraint for TABLE_NAME');
          --
          w_ddl := 'ALTER TABLE MY_SCHEMA.TABLE_NAME ADD (
                   CONSTRAINT TABLE_NAME
                   PRIMARY KEY
                   (TABLE_NAME_ID) USING INDEX)';
           --
          execute immediate w_ddl;
          --
          dbms_output.put_line('Successfully created primary key on TABLE_NAME_ID');
          --
       exception
          when others then
             if sqlcode = -02264 then
                dbms_output.put_line('constraint already exists.');
             else
                dbms_output.put_line('creation of primary key failed:');
                dbms_output.put_line(sqlerrm);
                raise;
             end if;
       END;

    <>

    It works well with our scripts to autmoated and help us when we iterate through development and back in if needed test environments.

    In this way, we can add the DDL statements to the deployment script and run the script again without error to set the database to the State required without having to run the newly created statement only.

    Sometimes this approach translates into a creation followed a statement alter table statement to add a column, but the end result of the script is always the same, and the deployment script can be controlled at source between iterations of development that is without having to restore the ddl changes to test the modified DDL script.

    hope that gives you some ideas.

  • core for Oracle RAC and grid on Linux x 86-64 RHEL 5.5 Infrastructure

    The manual "Oracle Grid Infrastructure Installation Guide 11 g Release 2 (11.2) for Linux.
    Chapter 2.8.2 list software requirements for Linux x 86-64 platforms
    Table 2-8, x 86-64 Linux operating system kernel requirements

    States, whether it is supported:
    Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Update 2, kernel 2.6.18 or LATER version
    Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 update 5 with kernel unbreakable Enterprise for Linux, the kernel 2.6.32 or later version

    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/E11882_01/install.112/e17212/prelinux.htm#BABFDJJF

    My doubts are (for linux x86_x64):
    "Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel for Linux" is really mandatory for RHEL 5.5 and Oracle Grid Infrastructure or is it possible to use RHEL 5.5 with RHEL kernel.
    Oracle RAC Database 11 g 2 is supported on RHEL 5.5 with RHEL kernel supported?

    Thank you

    Pavang is right.

    I opened a SR and Oracle Support they confirmed she RHEL 5.5 with RHEL kernel is supported (minimal support). but Oracle is highly recommend to deploy the nucleus of the unbreakable Company Oracle.

    Some reasons for their recommendations:
    http://public-yum.Oracle.com/
    The core Oracle Unbreakable Enterprise for Linux is the standard kernel used with Oracle products. The build
    and QA Oracle database systems and other Oracle products use the core of Oracle Unbreakable company
    for Linux exclusively. The core Oracle Unbreakable Enterprise for Linux is also the kernel used in Oracle
    Exadata and Oracle Exalogic systems. Oracle Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel for Linux is used in all benchmarks
    tests on Linux in which Oracle participates, as well as in the setup of valid Oracle for x 86-64.

  • Set the values of parameter SPFILE for Oracle RAC

    Hello

    in the documentation:

    https://docs.Oracle.com/CD/E11882_01/RAC.112/e41960/admin.htm#RACAD815

    I can read:

    *. OPEN_CURSORS = 500
    prod1. OPEN_CURSORS = 1000

    If an another DBA executes the following statement, then Oracle database updates the setting on all instances except the instance with SID prod1:
    ALTER SYSTEM SET OPEN_CURSORS = 1500 sid ='* ' SCOPE = MΘMOIRE;

    So if you run the following statement on another instance, the instance with sid prod1 also assumes the new 2000 setting:
    ALTER SYSTEM SET OPEN_CURSORS = 2000 sid ='* ' SCOPE = MΘMOIRE;

    My question is:

    How Oracle will know that it is you run the NDDN statement to apply even to prod1?

    The syntax for these two ALTER SYSTEM are the same. Then why Oracle applies the second on prod1?

    In other words, why the output of these two statements is different with respect to the affected bodies? One is applied on all except prod1 and the next is applied to all included prod1.

    Thank you.

    Hello

    If you have 2 instance and run you the change of parameter with sid ='* ', which means changing this setting will affect the two instance...

    the two values in the instance will be changed.

    https://docs.Oracle.com/CD/B28359_01/server.111/b28286/statements_2013.htm -->> search for "SID clause allows you to specify the SID.

    This seems to be a bug in documentation...

    Bug 6530554 : ALTER SYSTEM SET SCOPE = MEMORY SID ='* ' UPDATE all INSTANCES

    Use awk. I have not at hand a 9i but here is a very simple version for 10g XE

    My awk file (line numbers for the notes below - don't include them):

    01:BEGIN { prevline = "";} 02:03:/Completed: alter database close/ {print prevline,FS,$0;}04:05:{prevline = $0;}

    The command line and the results (from my alert log 300 k)

    $ awk -f alert.awk.txt alert_xe.logFri Apr 11 18:08:40 2008 Completed: alter database close normalFri May 16 18:53:21 2008 Completed: alter database close normalTue May 20 17:28:23 2008 Completed: alter database close normalThu Jul 17 19:08:52 2008 Completed: alter database close normalFri Aug 15 15:12:48 2008 Completed: alter database close normalWed Nov 05 08:52:59 2008 Completed: alter database close normalFri Nov 14 16:36:03 2008 Completed: alter database close normalTue Dec 09 10:46:23 2008 Completed: alter database close normalMon Jan 05 11:12:22 2009 Completed: alter database close normal

    What it means:

    (1) section START line 01 defines the variable to contain the previous line
    (2) the /search chain / line 03 search marker in the file for a stop, and then performs the requested action (print the time that was in the previous line and then this line; use FS (the field to the awk - space normally separator) as a separator
    (3) on line 05 is a statement that we do on each line - is remembered in case it is the timestamp for the closure.

    Now, you can include several cases corner for closures by adding several models of research etc. For more information, google for examples of awk.

    AWK is really good at this sort of thing!

  • Port number for Oracle RAC

    Hi all

    I have a Setup to RAC two nodes using SCAN, and I have two databases on this subject. Can have the same port number?

    Thank you!

    No, two databases/instances with a listener is not a performance issue.  Aman stressed that the listener is not 'busy' it is only necessary to initialize the connection to the database instance.

    If you plan a very large number of connection requests to come (i.e. a high rate of queries per minute), you can go to the shared server (if the sql operations are running) or use the QUEUESIZE parameter for the listener.

    Hi Mohd,

    I always use Swingbench.
    Swingbench is a test of generator (benchmarks) designed to highlight the load free Oracle (9i, 10 g, 11 g) data.
    SwingBench consists of a load generator, a coordinator and an overview of the cluster. The software allows a charge to be generated and transactions/response times to be traced.
    Swingbench can be used to demonstrate and test technologies such as Real Application Clusters, rebuilt table online, Eve, backup recovery etc. and online databases.

  • How to install Oracle RAC using GR 11, 2 on Win 7 32 bit from scratch?

    HIII,

    I am a cool and I have a win 7 32 bit with oracle 11 g 2 system.

    I want to install RAC with two servers or more, but I don't know too much about.

    I tried searching on google but all they give information into pieces (for win 7) or Linux on (please tell me why its all Linux everywhere not Windows).

    Please let me know if there is a site where I can find installation step by step from scratch.

    What are the basic requirements (/ software if necessary).

    Thank you.

    Hello

    Firstly forget Windows! Oracle is mainly designed for Linux systems. Oracle as a true process runs multiple on the Linux machines while under Windows, it runs as a single process with multi-thread.

    Using memory - huge pages, single CPU run queue, drop-outs, storage... etc are a lot of concepts.

    Also Windows is one of the most poorly designed operating systems, you must use only for watching movies of cute kitten on youtube... Believe me, you don't want to learn Oracle on Windows...

    Install virtualbox and then configure Oracle Enterprise Linux on it at first... By the way you have to deal with the DNS server of version 11.X, RAC, you can start with 10g for now.

    ORACLE-BASE has all the installation steps explained detailly, search for "oracle rac install base" on google.

    I also explained on my blog, but it is a little more advanced installation by using the ZFS storage Simulator. The DNS server installation is also explained: http://ilkertaysi.com/2013/11/11/oracle-rac-installation-with-zfs-storage/

    For a very basic definition, ACR is technology that is used by the database and IM is the infrastructure that makes the CAR work. In a response to the forum, this is probably all that can be said about the two. For a very long answer, you should read the links you cited.

    # 2, the course you are looking at is called accelerated because it combines two courses in one week training-RAC (4) and GI (3). So it's a day 7 curriculum that we would do in a 5 day course and who must justify its cost. But let me say, it's a really very good. But on the other side, it can be pretty intimidating to someone who does not already know these technologies. So I suggest that you send your team to each course individually and no doubt after doing some research. They can start to read the following books
