'Search' and 'Run' is missing in the startup folder

original title: "Search" & "Run" is missing.

My "Search" & "Run" are missing from my 'Startup' folder, how do I reinstall? I have Windows XP Professional.

Hi Mike0753,

The buttons are missing for all users on the computer? If necessary, create a new user account to see if your user account has become somehow corrupt.

When did you notice the lack of buttons? If it is a recent issue, follow the steps in this document to perform the system restore. This will restore your computer to a previous state.

Let is know if this helps.

I am running Vista Home Basic. When I click on the Start button, click programs, right-click the startup folder, and then clickOpen it does not open the startup folder. Instead, it opens a search window Active legends. How can I fix?

Go to the startup folder and right-click on it and click Proprties and then click on the location and enter C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup.  Click OK.  When you click Open the next time it should now open the folder that corresponds to your startup folder.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

    RE: Change startup programs

You can access this way startup programs...

Start button > in the search box, type msconfig > Enter > click on Startup tab. Here's your startup programs.
To disable, uncheck the box in front

To activate... check the box opposite.

RE: Windows Defender cannot be found.

If you have the following AV, antivirus, programs installed, close your Windows Defender. Purpose of these AVs have their own advocates. 2 defenders on the same machine will create conflicts.
Bottom line: it's ok. It's normal.
List of AVs which will stop Windows Defender:
    Norton
    McAfee
    AVG
    Microsoft Security Essentials

If you don't have AV programs above, here's how to restart Windows Defender:

Start button > in the search box, typeServices > press the Enter key > scroll to find Windows Defender, click on it >...
topic status , it must be said... Has begun
under Startup Type, it must be said... Automatic
If it does not say that, right click on Windows Defender > click Properties >
in Startup Type, click on the pointer to the right and select automatic
to the service status, click Start
    Click OK when finished.
  • AppStacks and the startup folder

We have a few apps that users are accustomed to having to start for them.  E-mail, messenger, CIT, Citrix Receiver, etc...  The AppStacks have these shortcuts in the startup folder, but they are not always start.  Sometimes apps there are pretty fast so that at the time wherever the startup folder is processed, the shortcuts are there, but sometimes it takes just a little more time for the appstacks to apply and then they are not in the startup when it processed folder.  Shortcuts will be created once appvolumes is done pursuant to the appstacks, but too late.  Is there a way to force the system to wait until AppVolumes is applied the appstacks before the user is fully connected?

Yes. on the agent computer will execute the command to add a value and the registry key below. This will hold the opening process of session until all volumes have finished attaching. After the logon process will continue. This of course causes an increase in the overall connection time, but should resolve this problem. Please also note that start us all programs in the key run in the context of virtualization on each volume. So, it would be preferable to include these applications in this key as part of the procurement process.

  • Ho I replace the dll files and run codes such as the double-click to open

How to replace dll files and run codes such as the double-click to open

    Hello

    1. What are the dll files you are trying to replace?

    2. Why do you want to replace the dll files?

A dynamic library (DLL) file is an executable file that allows programs to share code and other resources to perform specific tasks. Microsoft Windows provides DLL files that contain functions and resources that allow Windows programs to work in the environment with Windows.

I have recived portable computer of the Government with windows pre installed 7professional but now I want to format and reinstal it I require the startup disk and product key (my OS is authentic)

If it's a copy of volume license installed, you will need to contact your employer to find the product key and get the installation files.

If it is preinstalled at the factory with Windows 7 Professional, then use the recovery partition to reinstall Windows 7.

New computers coming often pre-installed with Windows 7 have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

This is how the recovery partition is accessible to most popular brands...

For Dell, press CTRL + F11 directly after switching on the device

For HP, press F11 directly after switching on the device

For LG, press F11 directly after switching on the device

For Toshiba, press and hold "0" BEFORE and during the power upward

For Acer, press and hold ALT + F10, as soon as you see the logo

For Asus, press F9, as soon as you see the Asus logo.

For Samsung, press F4 to the power upward...

For Fujitsu, press the F8 key directly after the power

Advent, restart your computer. Then, press F10 repeatedly until the message "Starting system recovery"

Sony VAIO, reboot and press "F8" or "F10" repeatedly until the screen "Advanced Boot Options".

  • OpenVpn always connects at startup, but is not in the startup folder

    Hello

I am running win 7 64 bit and OpenVpn still connect at startup, but is not in the startup folder. It remains in my taskbar on the low right. I use it occasionally when I am engaged in international voyages and need a connection to the United States. I already checked the startup folder and I have nothing in there.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

I had already tried this and it is marked as disabled. I can't understand this.

It could be launched as a service, visible on the Services tab in msconfig. Be sure to hide all Microsoft services front to disable all other services. I would also create a Restore Point and burn & test a Windows repair CD.

  • Why introduce items in the startup folder NOT?

Really, I want to like Windows 8, but I have a few problems.

I did a full install of the operating system and tries to run a trio of start-up applications. These applications are called Sickbeard, sabnzbd + and CouchPotato. They worked without problem on Windows 7, so I installed them exactly the same way for Win8. They are installed in the startup folder, but when I restart my computer, these applications fail to run and I have to manually click twice on them, how everything works well. I even had their value "run as administrator", but no matter what, they never perform to restart without my help. Help!

Also, my copy of Photoshop Elements 10 I bought, didn't seem is not consistent. I opened a photo, began publishing, has opened another photo for editing as well and was unable to choose the editing tools. Maybe that's more a problem with Adobe, but nevertheless, I assumed that software that works under Windows 7 would work the same on Windows 8.

In my base of 8.1 Win I don't have this option.

I made this change, in this way:

    1. Control Panel > user accounts > change user account control settings > never notify
    2. Run > RegEdit:
Set the key to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE-SOFTWARE-Microsoft-Windows-CurrentVersion------policies------system------EnableLUA to 0.
On this option read about it here: http://superuser.com/a/609356/392883

    Thank you

  • the installation program is unable to initialize the startup folder

I bought windows8 pro and downloaded the operating system online. When I tried to install the same on my preview of exit platform Windows8 following error messages showed after the installation of 90%. "Setup cannot initialize the startup folder" then "Setup is unable to run install.exe" and "system cannot find the specified file (error = OX80070002).»

Someone kindly guide me to solve the problem

I had this problem too and couldn't find an answer: what I found was that I tried to install and failed.   When I looked in the C:\ drive, I found a temporary installation directory.   Here's what I did to clean:

    (1) keys to success (Windows + R) and type c:\ (or whatever your system drive is)

    (2) look for a folder named WINDOWS $. ~ BT

    (3) Rt click on the folder and rename to OLD_ WINDOWS$. ~ BT (it won't erase without admin perms, so you'll need to clean it up later.

    (4) to open the Task Manager (click on rt on the Windows Start bar, select Task Manager)

    (5) find and select "Installation of Windows 8 (2)" or "Installation of Windows 8.

    (6) choose end task

    Result:

Try running the installer again and see if it works now.   If so, when you're all finished, don't forget to go back on your C: drive and delete the OLD_$ WINDOWS. ~ BT Directory

I hope this helps some of you!  Good luck!
