Search bar missing

The search bar is simply missing.

Yesterday I installed this browser. Have not tampered with it at all.

I noticed that you made so that we can not use Google as a search engine by default that is queried when you use the address bar to search for.

I recognize that you did that only because you're competing with Google on the front of the browser.

And I agree that it is the behavior of losing companies.

Back on point: the search bar is high here. And when I go to view the customization, there is nothing in search bar to slide up.

Solve the problem and tell me how to replace immediately the search bar.

Hello

Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily disables hardware acceleration, restores some settings and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart Firefox Safe mode in the Help menu:

  • Click the menu button

    click Help

then select restart with disabled modules.

If Firefox does not work, you can start Firefox in Mode safe as follows:

  • On Windows: Hold down the SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
  • On Mac: Hold the option key during the startup of Firefox.
  • On Linux: Exit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox-safe-mode
(you may need to specify the installation path of Firefox for example/usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start mode safe" - does NOT REFRESH!

If the problem is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps described in the section Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems to find the cause.

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

Most toolbars are created extensions, and it looks as if you have enabled extensions. You can check in the following tab:

Firefox orange (or the Tools menu) button > addons > Extensions category

To select the toolbars are displayed, you can switch the Sub and using a power off of these:

    • Right click on an empty area of the tab bar
    • Press the Alt key > view > toolbars

If the whole toolbar is missing, Firefox may be full-screen mode. Use the F11 function key to switch between full screen and normal views.

I used ff21 for a long time because when I logged on ff30, nothing worked in a way I could understand. After a lot of questions and looking for ways to make it work for me, I gave up and returned to ff21. I would have used a newer version, but 21 was the highest that I had saved.

It is possible you have click right on the search bar and select the «Remove from...» ».
«Delete from...» "moves the item selected in the palette to customize.
"Go to the Menu" or "Move to the toolbar" moves an item to or from the '3' dropdown menu Firefox button bar.

I personally keep the search bar in the bar '3' Firefox menu button in the drop-down list to see more of the URL in the address bar.
Note that the shortcut Ctrl + K will open the "3-bar" Firefox menu button in the drop-down list with the emphasis on the search bar, if you place the search bar in this area.

I double clicked on something at the top of my browser and then my address and search bars Google disappeared and I have no idea how to do to get back them and it comes to my computer at school and I really need those back bars!

If you right click on a zone empty of the tab bar (or the button '+' on the tab bar), you should be able turn on individual bars to the list. Does it work?

Edit: I forgot to mention that the main bar with the address and search bars is called to the Navigation bar.

No info on how to restore it?

Note that ff you right click on an item to toolbar in normal mode (non-personnaliser) mode, and then you can remove this item from the toolbar.

    • "Remove from toolbar" will remove this element of the Navigation toolbar and moves it to the palette to customize (Firefox '3-bar' menu button > customize)
    • "Go to the Menu" will move this point '3' dropdown menu Firefox button bar
    • "Move to the toolbar" in the "3-bar" Firefox dropdown menu button will move that point to the toolbar

Open the Customize and set the toolbar to display items.

    • Firefox '3-bar' menu button > customize
    • View > toolbars > customize
    • If the missing elements are in the palette to customize then drag them back into the window to customize the toolbar
    • If you don't see an article on a toolbar and in the palette to customize, then click on the reset default button to restore the default toolbar configuration
  • Search bar is empty

I use the 34.0.5 version. After the update successfully a few days ago, I was customizing the toolbar, and I added the "show the sidebars" button to the toolbar. At that moment as my search bar erased and I have not been able to fix it.

    Have tried:
    -starting in safe mode
-restoring my profile from a FEBE backup
    -resetting Firefox to default state

In the screenshots you can see what the search bar looks like now in the toolbar and in the Customization screen:

I was wrong. I tried the SafeMode again and found it to be an extension creating the problem: organize search engines. Somehow I must have missed it the first time I tried.

  • One solution for lack of options to search bar of Linux in distributions based on Debian.

All search options and the ability to add/remove/edit and get more missing.

I uninstalled Firefox for political reasons in April, then reinstalled (after some research convinced me that my protest was better elsewhere.) The search bar has failed.

    All this has failed:
    > sudo apt - get remove firefox
    > sudo apt - get install firefox
    > sudo dpkg - reconfigure firefox
    > rm - Rvf ~/mozilla/firefox*
Menu-> help-> troubleshooting [reset Firefox] or [Open Directory]

    SOLUTION:
When you search for dpkg version numbers, I noticed two packs for firefox
    > dpkg-l | grep firefox
II firefox 29.0.1 amd64 Firefox web browser
RC 29.0.1 firefox-solydxk-settings all settings of Firefox for SolydXK

    > man dpkg
has confirmed my suspicions that solydxk for firefox settings may have been broken by removing and installing firefox. (rc indicated, or installed properly uninstalled).

    > sudo apt - get remove firefox-solydxk-adjustments
    > sudo apt - get install firefox-solydxk-adjustments

Everythings works now. dpkg shows the two packages installed correctly.
    > dpkg-l | grep firefox
II firefox 29.0.1 amd64 Firefox web browser
II firefox-solydxk-fits 29.0.1 all adjustments of Firefox for SolydXK

  • How can I access the dialog "Manage search engines", after you remove the search bar?

I removed the esarch bar, since I can get exactly the same functionality through the url bar (also called awsome bar, I think). I use several search engines but select the default ones with key words.

The only thing I'm missing is the ability to access the dialog box "manage search engines". The only geto him he seems to be the drop search bar icon. Is it possible to access this dialogue without having to add (and re - hide the afterwords) the search bar?

You can create a bookmark with this chrome URL:

    • chrome://browser/content/search/engineManager.XUL
  • There is no search bar when I open Firefox.

There is no search bar when I open Firefox. I had to use Safari to enter a web address. This just started today

Make sure the toolbars like the toolbar 'Navigation' and the 'personal bar' are visible.

  • Google and Wikipedia and possibly other search engines, have suddenly disappeared as a choice in the search bar

I'm fairly certain that Google has always been my default search engine when you search using the address bar, but it has been switched to Yahoo Search.

I tried to follow the suggestion to open the box to "Manage search engines" and clicking on the button "Restore default settings", but the button is grey and inactive. I then installed the SearchReset 0.2 Add on, which had another solution found in the recommended Firefox Help. This changed my homepage on the default setting and deleted Yahoo as search engine when you use the address bar (even if the research is now not possible at all here), but it has not reset the search somehow bar, and Google and Wikipedia are not always listed as a choice. Also, search Reset didn't uninstall properly said, as he is still listed as an add-on, even if the description on the homepage SearchReset says that this will happen automatically.

I mention also that, at the same time, the search bar, difficulties began, the 2.2.2 ForecastFox add-on has stopped working and has disappeared from the status bar, but I was able to restore by disabling everything first and then allowing him once again. Also, until I was able to restore ForecastFox, Firefox would crash, whenever I clicked on "Manage search engines", but this crash has not happpened for ForecastFox has been restored. Weird!

    Dear GBinHoosick

All of a sudden all my search engines by default FireFox search missing. Sweet Im has been replaced... The fix for me was quite simply after a search for hours for many who did not.

I went to C: program Files\MozillaFirefox... I noticed there are two folders that says SearchPlugins, which was empty, and Searchplugins (2) which contains all of the default values, Google, Yahoo etc. I copied these Searchplugins (2) of and stuck looking for Plugins and the problem resolved.
Hope this works for you too
