Search by keywords

I use Lightroom CC.  I have a catalog of over 51 000 photos.  I used keywords to mark my photos.  For example, a photo may be another John Mary.  What I can't understand is to find photos that contain John Mary AND both.  I don't want to see photos of only married or just John, if it contains two people.  Seems basic but can't seem to find the answer in LR or Community aid.  Thank you.

In the keywords list, click the arrow to the right of Marie. This opens the library with Mary filter selected in the first column. So you have all the photos with Mary. Now change the second column so it also shows the keywords, then select John. Now, you have all those with Mary and John.

  • Coding + sign in the search by keyword

I'm trying to figure out how I can use a + sign when you use a keyword search.

Let's say I have the installation of google as a search by keyword at google.com

    Google 2 + 2-> http://www.google.com/search?hl=en & source = hp & biw = & bih = & q = 2 + 2 (so 2 of 2)

    OK, I'll encode the +. Google 2% 2B2-> http://www.google.com/search?hl=en & source = hp & biw = & bih = & q = 2% 252 b 2

So I'm puzzled... How can I get the + to work the keyword search?

    It should work: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en & source = hp & biw = & bih = & q = 2% b 2 2

Make sure that you are using %s

  • The search for keywords in Adobe Bridge

I have a few questions about the bridge and keywords.

I was put keywords on a large amount of images on our server in the hope that others can easily find these images. There are about 30 files inside a folder root and within these folders, files more...

Unfortunately, when I try to search for key words in the next day or from another computer, no image appears. I tried the search bar as long as Edit > Find... and by searching for "Key words" criteria (I have the checkbox "Include all subfolders" checked).

When I go to a specific image, keywords are there, even when the results of my research do say no images found.

    My questions would be:

I am able to search for keywords on a server (from any computer with access to the server)?

How can I search for keywords attached to the images that are buried in the 2-3 files?

    Any help is appreciated!

    Hi Kim,

Could you please confirm if you use bridge or bridge CC 2015 CC.

On the local disk there is no problem if the images are buried under files.

External drive or network drives there may be latency/performance issues, but you should be able to search for images using keywords ideally.

    Kind regards

  • How to search for keywords by synonym (Lightroom CC)

    Hello

I use a hierarchical keywording for animal taxonomy, it is based on the "official" latin names, vernacular names in different languages are included as synonyms.

Is there a a way to search for keywords using their synonyms? The search box seems to be limited to the only keyword and don't look for synonyms.

    Thank you

    Chris

    Chris,

Just to clarify what's doing with LR: when searching by keyword in the filter library bar or with a smart collection, LR search of synonyms. However, as you have noticed, when you use the keywords filter box in the list of keywords, synonyms Panel are ignored.  In addition, you can enter a synonym in the Keywording Panel (if you try it, LR silently will create a new keyword for you).  It seems that LR 2 had the ability to filter the list of keywords by synonyms and use synonyms to apply keywords, but that functionality has been removed in LR 3.

Please add your vote and opinion on this in the Adobe official feedback forum: Lightroom: search for the keyword by synonym

My Tag no matter what plugin handles synonyms as you wish, but it was designed for a particular workflow and may not be to your liking.

Look in the String class and its methods, specifically the indexOf() (to find) and substr() (of extraction) methods.

  • Use of search engine keywords?

I would like to be able to set the search engine to use in the search box. For example, typing "google: firefox help" search help firefox via Google, and "yahoo: firefox help" looking for the same thing through Yahoo. Is this possible? I guess that's what the keywords in search engine (in the search engines Manager) are for, but I can't understand how to use them.

I use the keyword in the address bar of Firefox 4, and not on the search bar. It works!

  • What search engine keywords (in the search engines Manager)?

I use several search engines and would like to be able to change the active engine without having to open the menu and click on the one I want. Is this possible? I guess that's what for the 'Keyword' field in the Manager. I have assigned keywords, but don't know how to use.

The keywords you assign via 'Edit the keyword' in the search engines Manager work as quick searches via the address bar.

They work the same as when you create a bookmark and give a keyword.

See above posted the link on how the keyword search work.

These keywords are stored in search.sqlite in the Firefox profile folder

  • Windows 7 search within keyword string

    Hello

Is it possible to define the search string for window 7 in keyword.

For example: I have a file named "midnight", "tonight" and "late night." I want to be able to search all these files by using the word "night".

At the moment Windows 7 recognize only if the word is stand alone or at the beginning. The result of the search for 'the night' will not, if you use example above "late night." Any help would be appreciated.

Use the old trick of BACK, use an * asterisk as a wildcard.

To find these files, simply put * night * in your search box.

  • Search by keyword in OSX

Hey, I'm looking to see if there is anyway that I can have a third user, search for specific photos with the finder application via. Mac OS x through the keywords I entered in Lightroom. Y at - it a translation between the two?

Using Lightroom in a Dropbox account.

Given that Lightroom is a single-user software, I always get conflicting copies when others try to access Lightroom.
Looking for my boss search archives for specific products without him using the Lightroom Catalog.

in the meantime I made boards-contacts, but I feel that there could be a simplified system?

OSX and Windows must be able to search for photos with specific keywords, subject keywords are written in the picture itself (or in the case of RAW original, written in the XMP sidecar files). Write keywords in files does not by default. To write keywords to photo files (or files in the case of the FIRST xmp), go to the menu metadata and select save metadata to files. or equivalently on the ability to write XMP metadata automatically.

  • Images not appearing is not in the search by keyword in Bridge CS6

I am using Bridge CS6, falling into persistent galleries of pictures (JPEG) and tagging them with keywords. When the time comes to do a search, a couple of these images are are ignored in the results. Other images with the same keywords are returned, but not these a few offenders.

I tried to reset the bridge and purge central Cache.

No idea why some files would be invisible to the search function?

Well, after a reboot, purge central cache several times and reset bridge several times, I did apparently something in the right order and the problem is solved

Looks like it was a bad file cache or preference.

Thanks for all the suggestions, especially in regards to the caches purge!

  • Bridge CS4 - search using keywords?

I know how to add keywords in Bridge CS4 and I know how to search for files using these key words,

but the way I'm looking to write a key word letter-by-letter. Is it possible to get a drop down menu

or something like that, where I can select a keyword in a list, so that I don't have to write the key word?

If you try to use a keyword you can do a right click on the keyword in the keyword Panel and then choose just find it.  That will eliminate having to type in it and be fooled.

  • New to Lightroom. The search for keyword spelling work around...

I just installed Lightroom and two keywording problems after importing the largest of my photos (almost 14 000 files) files.

I was keywording in Bridge and found it much easier to type in the words. Used iView in the past, so don't worry much about spelling. iView show me different spellings used for a Word and I could choose the pictures, correct spelling and spelling errors has been corrected in the metadata of photos.

    1. in Lightroom, I select the pictures/photos with misspelled words, correct that the word and Lightroom will not accept the change, because there is already a keyword of the same name. If I delete the misspelled keywords (I guess I can?) then I have no idea how to find these photos and add the correct keyword.

Just by writing this, I thought to put the words misspelled in a collection and then when the misspelled word is deleted, I still have pictures. I could drag the exact keyword for them. What is the best way to go? (I have not tried the collection function again).

2 another problem frustrating: I do not use hierarchical keywording and Lightroom pulled my keywords in the hierarchical Keywords system. Now I have 'Place', 'People', etc that clutter my field. Is there a way to tell Lightroom I want to use the hierarchical system? Is there (please please please) a pretty quick way to get rid of all words as place and people I am not there? If there is a preference I'd before importing, I prefer to make a new catalog and re import rather than trying to find all the high fields to the page to remove.

    Peg

    Element of reference 1.

In the library - the grid view Module

Go to the keyword list Panel

Select a misspelled word, and then click the arrow to the right of the keyword.

    Select all

Click the checkbox to the left of the CORRECTLY spelled keyword to apply the correct spelling.

Clear the check box to the left of the keyword spelled

    Delete the misspelled word.

Files should only have the correctly spelt version

    Reference element 2

Lightroom does not use a hierarchical strategy, unless you say so. If your images are as (from bridge, for example) with a hierarchy, it will be replicated. A keyword that is automatically set to receive the child keywords will have a little asterisk following the keyword. If you have one of these you can get rid of it by right click and uncheck "put new keywords inside this keyword.

Before you delete keywords at a higher level, you want to make sure that you moved all the keywords lower level out of them. If you delete keywords at a higher level, he will kill the keywords of the child inside.  Keywords can be slid in or out of a hierarchy by dragging.
