Windows 7 search within keyword string
Hello
Is it possible to define the search string for window 7 in keyword.
For example: I have a file named "midnight", "tonight" and "late night." I want to be able to search all these files by using the word "night".
At the moment Windows 7 recognize only if the word is stand alone or at the beginning. The result of the search for 'the night' will not, if you use example above "late night." Any help would be appreciated.
Use the old trick of BACK, use an * asterisk as a wildcard.
To find these files, simply put * night * in your search box.

On Windows XP, there is a search function to search for a string in any kind of files on your computer. You are looking for a specific name was easy, if you fogort what kind of file, this name occurred in or what it was named.
On Windows 7 it only allows searching for a name of a file. How to search for strings in file names? 29/12/12 Paul Figueroa
Oh, what you want is the content property.
content: ~ = Figueroa
[Update: apparently special search symbols such as ~ = do not work with the content when property indexed research places, but work during the search in unindexed locations.]
I should mention that Windows 7 Search is not case sensitive, so it makes no difference to try to find upper or lower case letters. In addition, Windows 7 Search is not able to search the contents of files that have no file extension. There is also a weird question having to watch in Indexing Options to determine which file extensions are defined for content, research, where you have a type of unusual file that is not defined for the content of the search.

Windows 7 search is not locate files and content that I know exist. Why?
Sometimes, I just need to find a directory to search for a file containing a specific string. I don't care if it's a text document or a word document or email. I need to search for all the file types, and I need reliable and reproducible results. He didn't necessarily need to be fast. How do I do that?
I don't know how to say just Windows 7 Search to search for content regardless of the type of file, or to search the contents of files without extension. (I did the test files that were just txt, then renamed them without the extension, and search for Windows 7 could not search the content.) I would like to know that too, as I do my own notes on works of research since I found that the help file has been very rare, so I'm curious to read someone of other ideas. In any case, it might be safer in terms of certainty looking for a DOS command prompt: http://www.computerhope.com/findstr.htm

The search for keywords in Adobe Bridge
I have a few questions about the bridge and keywords.
I was put keywords on a large amount of images on our server in the hope that others can easily find these images. There are about 30 files inside a folder root and within these folders, files more...
Unfortunately, when I try to search for key words in the next day or from another computer, no image appears. I tried the search bar as long as Edit > Find... and by searching for "Key words" criteria (I have the checkbox "Include all subfolders" checked).
When I go to a specific image, keywords are there, even when the results of my research do say no images found.
My questions would be:
I am able to search for keywords on a server (from any computer with access to the server)?
How can I search for keywords attached to the images that are buried in the 2-3 files?
Any help is appreciated!
Hi Kim,
Could you please confirm if you use bridge or bridge CC 2015 CC.
On the local disk there is no problem if the images are buried under files.
External drive or network drives there may be latency/performance issues, but you should be able to search for images using keywords ideally.
Kind regards

Look in the String class and its methods, specifically the indexOf() (to find) and substr() (of extraction) methods.

Coding + sign in the search by keyword
I'm trying to figure out how I can use a + sign when you use a keyword search.
Let's say I have the installation of google as a search by keyword at google.com
Google 2 + 2-> http://www.google.com/search?hl=en & source = hp & biw = & bih = & q = 2 + 2 (so 2 of 2)
OK, I'll encode the +. Google 2% 2B2-> http://www.google.com/search?hl=en & source = hp & biw = & bih = & q = 2% 252 b 2
So I'm puzzled... How can I get the + to work the keyword search?
It should work: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en & source = hp & biw = & bih = & q = 2% b 2 2
Make sure that you are using %s

Uninstall Windows Desktop Search.
How to uninstall Windows Desktop Search? It was fairly easy to install, I don't even remember how to do it. It does not appear in Add / Remove from the control panel.
Hi Charles,
you have learned what I and many others have also learned the hard way... usually Reg editors damage much more than good. That said, I advise you to do a system restore to before you used it, or you may need to reinstall a victory.

Windows Desktop Search gaps in the entire office vs specific folder search
I am running Windows XP Pro on a laptop, and have installed WDS. If I search for a file from the Windows taskbar, it shows a file in my folder. If I click find on the file menu bar, (which opens from WDS, but specifies to search only in this case), it says that the file is not there. I tripled checked, closed the windows and searched again, with the same results. The 'version' of WDS that appears when looking for a specific folder, do not use the same index using the search bar? Advice on the resolution of this conflict?

Indices from scratch whenever I connect to Windows Desktop Search.
Hello
I was frustrated for a while because my PC seems to work for centuries after the start to the top. Now, I realized that this is because Windows Desktop Search indexes from scratch every time. It takes more than an hour for about 65 000 items in the index and then works fine. But when I switch the computer the next time I log on the number of indexed items is zero and it starts indexing all over again.
I deleted Windows Search and re-installed the latest version, but it's still the case. Surely, it should contain the elements previously indexed.
Any ideas on what I should do?Hi, John Robert E.
· Do you remember recent changes made to your computer before the show?
· What is the service pack installed on the computer?
