Search for Firefox homepage

I want to change the home page in Firefox or page, use the default home duckduckgo search engine. I'm tired of Google! and I'd like to keep the start instead of the duckduckgo homepage page.

Thanks Nelson.

All three 'search' features (topic: host, address bar and the search bar, as well as the search function of context menu) using the default search engine - change it to what you want.

  • A site called abuchak took my search for firefox Macintosh, how do I get rid of it and keep my favorites?

Whenever I type a keyword in the search box on Firefox immediately opens a new tab for a search engine called abuchack and next to the search box, it says it's a google program.

You can open the topic: config page through the address bar and do a search for abuchak via the filter at the top of the about: config page.

You can reset all abuchak related prefs via the context menu to their default values.

To open the topic: config page, type Subject: config in the address bar (address) and press the 'Enter' key, as you type the url of a Web site to open a Web site.

If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access this page.

    • Use the filter at the top bar of the on: page config to more easily spot a preference.

  • I would like to delete search for firefox

I would remove all THE features of firefox's search. If I want to look for something that I do not have a bookmark internet, I goto the URL bar and type the address of a search engine of my choice and go there. I've NEVER used the search bar. (It is not a malware related issue, it works perfectly except there seems to be no way to remove it from the GUI.) I unchecked all engines of her research in the hope, it would just withdraw, but always without success. Is there a hidden option somewhere, I'm missing? See image attached to see the search bar, I want to talk. (Yellow highlighted area) If there is no way to remove it, it's fine, I like to keep my bars all clean and tidy, and it's disconcerting to my web experience to have some useless bars on my GUI.

    Sincerely,
    Basil1981

You can move the search bar to the palette of customize, customize or mode by right-clicking on the search engine icon (remove toolbar).

If you want to go further, you can define browser.search.selectedEngine on: config an empty string and optionally remove search engines integrated into the '\browser\searchplugins' file in the Firefox program folder.

Firefox (25.0.1) and Google worked well together until the 26/11/2013 when a guest user searched on Google. Google search still works fine on IE and Chrome. The problem is that Firefox and only with Google. Bing, Ask, Yahoo, Wikipedia all perform and appear as expected. Installs any recent or upgrades. No other search engine returns the results in a column on the left. It's as if the guest user drags it results to the left column and the display became the default. I can't restore the previous view. I restarted Windows. I reinstalled Firefox, but that has not solved the problem. I have disabled all addons (I didn't have any) and run in safe mode, the problem persists. Aspect is default 25.0.1

To actually answer the question on where is the Reload button.

Look at the right end of the address bar (address) and it should be a combined Stop/Reload button.

Right click on a toolbar and select Customize and you can drag the reload and stop on somewhere else if you want. If you want to keep them separate and place something between the two as a flexible space or place them as stop then reload.

  • Why search for mozilla firefox in Bing does not appear when I connect to AOL as my homepage?

When I connect to the home page of aol.com , instead see a page that says search mozilla firefox on the top and Bing on the right. I was able to remove the Bing toolbar, but were unable to delete the mozilla firefox page. It is a new problem and I do not know how to solve. Can you help me?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance).

    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode safe or make changes.

Try to use the extension SearchReset reset preferences to default values.

Note that the SearchReset extension runs only once and then uninstalls automatically, so it will not appear on the page "> Firefox Add-ons" (topic: addons).

On Mac, this most commonly seems to be caused by Spigot or pipe modules, or something else that snuck in without being detected with other software that you downloaded.

Please try to disable all non-essential or unrecognized extensions on page modules. Either:

    • CMD + SHIFT + a
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then, in case of doubt, disable (or delete). Especially if you find something called SearchMe.

Often, a link will appear above at least an extension disabled to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links in the last step.

Is that what helps you regain control?

  • Is there an API for Firefox search of certificates in the storage of certificates of Firefox?

I'm trying to find an open source API available to search for a specific certificate issued by an issuer in my storage of certificates. Do you know something that could be useful to me?

The db should be cert8.db and it's accessible with a software able to read db. To be sure: profiles - where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data

    These are the Tools https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/d.../Tools#dbck

I don't know if there is a api. Try the DND.

  • 'Search' homepage won't work, searching for words, should go to the address bar to get one will search for.

When I go to the start page, after clicking on the icon for Mozilla Firefox, if I type in the box and press 'Search', it does nothing. I have to go to the top of the address bar to search for anything. This isn't like Google, where I can type a few words, for example, CBS (the station news and hit search and get results). Any ideas?

Hello mdchlanda, first of all, please see install research reset addon can solve the problem: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/searchreset/ (a restart of the browser is needed later).

If not, try the following steps to manually restore the search function on the default home page:

    1. Go to firefox > help > troubleshooting information and click file/show profile folder. a windows Explorer window should open - to delete the file named chromeappsstore.sqlite.
    2. then enter Subject: config in the bar firefox address (confirm the message information where it appears) & get preference named browser.startup.homepage_override.mstone - right click and restore the default value for that entry.
    3. Restart firefox
  • Can I put in start page for Firefox with a different search engine, not Google?

I remove all things 'Google' from my computer. I want the Start Page for Firefox, because I can get to options, modules, etc. and I don't want to lose this.

Easier is to select the preferred search engine in the search bar on the Navigation toolbar to see the name of this search engine in the pref browser.search.selectedEngine and copy its value to the browser.search.defaultenginename pref.

Firefox should use this search engine on the subject: home page after a closing and restarting Firefox.

If this isn't the case, then you can have an extension which is predominant, especially if the pref change.

  • Search for right click Firefox 13 - stay on the Page After searching as Previous Versions

    Hello

When I highlight and click right a word on a page and then click on "search Google for ' the result opens in a new tab - as expected. But in firefox 13 it switches immediately to the new created google search tab.

In previous versions of firefox it would stay on the current page and leave the new tab on google search in the background ready to be open when I'm ready.

I would like to know how to change this feature in v13 to the way it was in previous versions, as described above.

    Thank you.

Hello apple_juice, you can enter Subject: config in the address bar of firefox, confirm the notification of information (in the case, it turns out), search for the preference named browser.search.context.loadInBackground & switch true by double-clicking it. that should bring back the old behavior...
