In WIndows 8, the Google search for Firefox (only) appear in a column on the left side of the window.
Firefox (25.0.1) and Google worked well together until the 26/11/2013 when a guest user searched on Google. Google search still works fine on IE and Chrome. The problem is that Firefox and only with Google. Bing, Ask, Yahoo, Wikipedia all perform and appear as expected. Installs any recent or upgrades. No other search engine returns the results in a column on the left. It's as if the guest user drags it results to the left column and the display became the default. I can't restore the previous view. I restarted Windows. I reinstalled Firefox, but that has not solved the problem. I have disabled all addons (I didn't have any) and run in safe mode, the problem persists. Aspect is default 25.0.1

In addition, your Firefox is identified at the forum as version 38. An update is available: this article describes how to get 49 Firefox using the "About Firefox" dialog in the menu help: Firefox update to the latest version.

If Google is my default search, can I go and change it if I want to do a search for GMaps; only the default is in the search drop-down list.
So I have to change the default to Google Maps then back to Google to search for one.I have it! It's the topic: config "hiddenoneoffs" where the 3 elements of google, maps and mcafee have been included. There was no space between Google and maps. I put one in from Google Maps. She appeared in the first box-ff, but not sure about the search in the second time zone. I went back to the subject: one-offs. Safe search was shown with a space after Secure. I took out the space. Safe search arose in the 2nd single search box!
Weird! This is contrary to how they show in the search parameters.
Can I have messed that when Firefox has been reset all the search engines on an update, but I do not.
Either incidentally, I tried to re-installation characteristic but the file comes down as a .dmg that I'm not familiar with and don't apparently is 8.0 to win because he couldn't open it. Thank you once again. -

I can't open links in google search using Firefox.
I can open the links when I search with Bing or Yahoo and Google looking for work when I use IE, so it's only when I use Google with Firefox. Also, if I try to open links in a new tab, I get error 404. For example, if I try to open bbc.co.uk/news from the search page it does not do anything, if I try to open it in a new tab I get Error 404 and this string in the address bar: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t & rct = j & q = & esrc = s & source = web & cd = 1 & cad = AJLN & uact = 8 & ved = 0CB4QFjAAahUKEwjEzpKmif3IAhUM9GMKHQZeClQ & url = http %3 has % 2F % www.bbc.com%2Fnews 2F, & usg = AFQjCNFZIG7IKy3foMCFY0dzRExKv9KjFQ
I tried refreshing Firefox and disabling add-ons; I don't know what else to do.
I have Windows 10, if this has something to do with the problem.
You can try to delete the files (extensions.json and extensions.ini) extensions.* and compatibility.ini in the profile folder of Firefox to reset the extensions registry.
New files will be created if necessary.
See "extension corrupted files:

If you see disabled extensions or is not compatible in "Firefox button/Tools menu > Modules > Extensions ' and then click the Tools button at the left end of the search bar to check if there is an update available compatibility.
If that didn't help then also delete the addons.json file and the file prefs.js reset setting pref of the extension of the Protection of Kaspersky.

You can reset all abuchak related prefs via the context menu to their default values. To open the topic: config page, type Subject: config in the address bar (address) and press the 'Enter' key, as you type the url of a Web site to open a Web site.

I think a bug is corrupt search results. Anyone who knows this?
Sometimes a problem with Firefox can be a result of malware installed on your computer, you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to search for malicious software that work with your existing anti-virus software:
- Microsoft safety scanner
- MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
- TDSSKiller - AntiRootkit utility
- Hitman Pro
- ESET Online Scanner
Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP, if you do not already have one.

As of this morning, I noticed that when I select some text on a page and bring up the context menu so that I can click on "search Google for []" it switches to the new tab with Google search, something that has never happened before and I do not wish to take place. I've not verified "when I open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately" in the options and in fact, this problem does not occur with links, with the option of Google search. It is possible that this started three days ago when FF is automatically updated at 13.0, but I have not used the Google search option in the last days. Can someone tell me please how to fix this?
Thank you
EllenHey ellenelle, you can enter Subject: config in the address bar of firefox, confirm notification of information (where it appears), search for the preference named browser.search.context.loadInBackground & switch true by double-clicking it. that should bring back the old behavior...

Where is Google Toolbar for Firefox 7.01 and Win 7 >;
Nothing more to say. I want just the toolbar for Firefox 7.01. I have Windows 7,
Using an older version of Firefox is not the answer. Toolbar for Firefox is a dead project from Google. Also the problem of "compatibility" with versions of Firefox 5 +, Google has changed the address of connection for 'Accounts' last month which broke the functionality of automatic connection of toolbars from Google who once worked on older versions of Firefox.
The solution is to understand the features of the Google toolbar that you need and then look for alternative modules with the features you need.

When you click on Google search results, Firefox goes to other engines with resultses!
When I enter a topic in the Google search bar, Google returns a list of results, when I click on the result, I chose, Firefox then takes me to the search engine results another, offering me more choice. It is SO annoying!!!
Firefox 4.0 crashes 3-4 times a day every DAY!
How I role back to Firefox 3?
Looks like you have an installed browser hijacker that redirects your searches. Follow these steps:
- In the address bar, type Subject: config and press ENTER.
- In the filter at the top, type: keyword. URL
- Double click top and delete everything in it and replace it with http://www.google.com/search?q=
- Go to file | Output
- Restart Firefox, go to the site you want to set as your home page.
- Go to Tools | Options | General.
- Make sure that it says in the first drop 'show my home page'.
- Click on the button called "use current Pages' to set the home page to the one you have on the screen.
The URL to add in "keyword. URL"becomes a link in this message, right-click and choose"Copy link location"to copy it to the Windows Clipboard. Then press CTRL + V to paste. You have to type all of this saves.

I want to change the home page in Firefox or page, use the default home duckduckgo search engine. I'm tired of Google! and I'd like to keep the start instead of the duckduckgo homepage page.
Thanks Nelson.
All three 'search' features (topic: host, address bar and the search bar, as well as the search function of context menu) using the default search engine - change it to what you want.

Delete Google search for images - Moto G homescreen
All possible ways to get the Google search widget to be at the top of each screen? It can not be removed in the usual way.
You will need to use another Launcher. The persistent search bar belongs to Google now Launcher. Maybe try Nova, this is a nice substitute.

I would like to delete search for firefox
I would remove all THE features of firefox's search. If I want to look for something that I do not have a bookmark internet, I goto the URL bar and type the address of a search engine of my choice and go there. I've NEVER used the search bar. (It is not a malware related issue, it works perfectly except there seems to be no way to remove it from the GUI.) I unchecked all engines of her research in the hope, it would just withdraw, but always without success. Is there a hidden option somewhere, I'm missing? See image attached to see the search bar, I want to talk. (Yellow highlighted area) If there is no way to remove it, it's fine, I like to keep my bars all clean and tidy, and it's disconcerting to my web experience to have some useless bars on my GUI.
Sincerely,
Basil1981You can move the search bar to the palette of customize, customize or mode by right-clicking on the search engine icon (remove toolbar).
If you want to go further, you can define browser.search.selectedEngine on: config an empty string and optionally remove search engines integrated into the '\browser\searchplugins' file in the Firefox program folder.
