Search for names of file with Engine.SearchFiles?

I posted my comment to a solved thread: http://forums.ni.com/t5/NI-TestStand/searchfiles/td-p/2364238/page/2

and I don't have a solution. If I post in a new thread now.

Is it possible to search for substring in a file name using the Engine.SearchFiles method? I know, that there is a SearchOptions_RegExpr, but I couldn't know how to search for file names. I can find files that contain expressions, variables etc but not file names.

So, is it still possible?

SearchFiles is only for research purposes in the files. Take a look at the FindFiles sequence in:

\Components\Tools\ForEach.SEQ

This sequence search for all files in a directory tree by using direct calls to the WIN32 API. You could probably just call this sequence directly to do what you ask.

The search function in XP had an option so that on each individual search that you had an option to specify that you want to search in the contents of a file, but by default it would find the names of files only.  It looks in Windows 7, you cannot specify "names of files only" or "filenames and content" the on a per search basis , but it is now a Windows setting.  You go in the Tools menu of the Explorer and then Options records, then in the tab "Search", you choose one or the other radio button for 'What to look for', but this setting is now applied to all research.

Is it possible to specify on a per search basis?

Of course, just put the filename property before the words to search for:

    file name: SearchWords

    Hello

This feature was available in the My Pictures Slideshow Screensaver in Windows XP, but this screen saver is not included in Windows 7.

If you have access to a system with XP installed, you can copy the

C:\Windows\System32\ssmypics.scr file and place it in the same folder on the Windows 7 system and it will work similarly as in XP.

If you do not have access to a Windows XP system, you can download the file ssmypics.scr on the following link.

If you have the 32-bit version of Windows 7, copy the file to the folder c: Windows\System32.

If you have the 64 bit version of Windows 7, copy the file to the C:\Windows\SysWOW64 folder.

Do a right click the desktop and select Personalize / Screen Saver icon.

In the screen saver options, it will be displayed as my slide show of photos. Click the settings for the options button.

I have a C:\Users\Owner\Documents\PRG folder with a number of Foxpro. • My music search by name of file to a list?

    iTunes 12.3.2.x

I used to be able to do very easily in iTunes, but cannot find a way to make this more.

Here's an example - I have many different guitars scratching records, and one of them is a Carvin DC125.  So the recordings made with this guitar I would make sure that "DC125" was the name of file.  When I search in 'My music' 'DC125', I can always find a list of files, but this list only presents under the search box until I have select one of the files, and then disappears from the list.

iTunes USED to let me "DC125" as a search, then he just showed these files in a list and I could jump around in this list at will without having to do the research again.

There is no other useful to filter metadata that with, the artist is 'unknown' and there are thousands of files with this info.  I tried to make playlists as well, but for what its worth the old search function has been much better and smoother for this sort of thing.

Dang-as usual, I found the right answer after frustrated enough to ask for help!

If someone stumbles across this thread the response was:

    (1) research 'My Music' as expected.

    (2) on the left side of iTunes - click on «All artists»

It gave me a list that resembles an album I can navigate at will as I used to see.

  • Limit the search to only the files with the exact search term

I have Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 and I hate this search feature.  Is it at all possible to restrict it to precisely the name of the file I'm looking for?  Say, for example, I'm looking for a folder called "the gate".  Is it possible to continue the research to return each file with the words or door in it?  I don't mind if it returns the file formats different but 732 files returned by the word or door.  Help would be greatly appreciated.

If you mean that you are looking for a name of file exactly and not only a phrase without worrying, you can get what you want if you use a special syntax, and include the file name extension:

    name: = "door.txt.

Note that we have no ability to distinguish between upper and lower case sensitive in Windows 7 search.

If you want to match the name regardless of their file extension, you need a wildcard character, the asterisk.  However, the "equal" sign does not accept wildcards, but the tilde then otherwise as equal to sign for correspondence.

    name: ~ "the door.*.

  • Windows 7, the search for directory and files

I want to search a directory with several subfolders and thousands of pdf files. The goal is to select a specified list of file names so that each of them appears in the search results.

Rather than search for a text string, so I want to search in a list of names of known files. I'm looking for a separator I put between each file name on my list (for example, a pipe, comma, or other special character) so that I can paste the complete list of file names in the search box and get my results.

Each file name put on my list be known to exist, that is to say, would generate a find.

Sorry if I did not understand, but I think OR is that what you want?

as in "name: Gold: Gold: etc.

So you want to files with a name of piggy and snake "name: piggy GOLD name: Snake.

I hope it's this that you wanted, otherwise, after return.

  • How to search for a specific file on the computer?

Original title: How can I search for a file by name only. For example, to prevent the display of other files that contain the same text.  This was easy to do under XP.

For example, I need to find FILES named xyz*.mdl.  I need to filter all files that CONTAIN "xyz*.mdl" but are note NAMED "xyz*.mdl".

This was easy in XP, but not in "7".

    Help, please.

    Thank you

    Doug

    You can use the syntax:

    filename:xyz * .mdl

Note that file:xyz*.mdl is equivalent to filename:xyz * .mdl, but an additional symbol ~ is necessary with the equivalent of the so-called name: ~ xyz * .mdl to properly manage the wildcard character.  (file name, file and the name are supposed to be the same)

  • When I do a file search he finds all files with the same keyword, I'm on windows 7

File search only returns a file name in the search when there are several files whit the same keyword as I entered, this just started to happen.  When I typed a keyword in search it returned previously all files with the same keyword, now it returns only one of the files?

  • Search for PES 10 files? Do not sort results

I want to search for, BIG in all file names so I can remove them from the catalog.  When I search for the only indication I get is the symbol of not, circle with a line.  The thumbnails are not sorted.  Accept the thumbnails are displayed with no circle, and are not sorted.  What I am doing wrong?

    Hello

I'm sure that you are getting a little frustrated with this problem now.

I am running on a Windows 7 64 bit and I have Premiere Elements too, so in theory, our systems should work the same.

The way you view works, it's what I expected, that if I was looking on two tags and had the option Show closely Matching sets for research (preferences - general) checked. If this is checked then turn it off, close the elements, open it again, and try the search. I don't think that it really makes a difference to your search.

I think it will eliminate a problem of catalog by creating a new catalog. Try this:

    (1) open the Organizer

    2) go to file-> catalogue

    3) click on the new button

    (4) enter a name like Test cat and click OK

    (5) click on Open - this will create an empty catalog

    (6) go to file-> Get Photos and videos-> of files and folders

Navigate 7) to a folder example - for the test, you don't need really all your photos

    8) click Get Media

OK now, try a file name search to see if you get different results.

    Good luck

  • For names of files on LabVIEW

    Hello world

I was wondering if there is similar functionality on LabVIEW that does the job as the "dir/b" command on windows cmd. It's to get the name of files (in chains) in the directory that I refer to.

In the end, I want to have a drop down menu where I can read what I have in my folder of files.

Someone has it all done something like this before?

Any response would be much appreciated! Thank you very much!

You can use the folder list function to get all the file/folder names in alphabetical order to a path to a directory:

Returns two arrays of strings listing the names of all the files and folders found in the path, filtering of tables based on the model and the array of names of files based on the specified datalog typeof filtering.

EXAMPLE: You can just call with the path and two indicators for file/folder names:
