Search for zoom + Highlight, Exclude bookmarks

Hello

I used Zoom search for about 2 years with a few projects of Homesite HTML and am now integrate Zoom Search in a Robohelp project. So far so good.

I followed the suggestions of Peter, refined for my needs. Once again, so far, so goo.   I added the highlighted option (jump to match and highlighting search words).  It works as expected, but I'm having a problem it highlights of bookmarks, when search terms corresponds to a word in the bookmark.  It's not ideal, and it causes a big problem when the corresponding search word is in the bookmark and at the bottom of the page.  The 'leap' in this case stops at the top of the page because the bookmark is the first occurrence of the word.  It's technically correct, but from a user perspective, it is not so great.

To exclude parts of the page being indexed by a Zoom uses the <! - ZOOMSTOP - > and <!-ZOOMRESTART-> tags, which works as expected with RoboHelp.  My problem is that the bookmark code does not appear in the html file, so I cannot even exclude it.  Any suggestions?

I was going to make this post in the forum of Zoom, but I feel that they will tell me to ck with Robohelp.

Thanks in advance...

I just replied on Zoom forum on this subject, in which I proposed to manually add the placeholder of breadcrumbs in topics, instead of using the selection of the global view, thus requiring only a one-time addition of the and tags (which removes RH is more than once). Of Helpware FAR tool makes it fast, if the user decides on this method.

Good luck

Leon

  • Search for WebHelp highlighting revisited (RH7)

I like the integrated research of RH7 highlighting feature, particularly after the update from Adobe at 7.02.001 (see P. Grainge point 32 slot using RoboHelp 7, correction, or replacement of whtopic.js). However, I swear to you that my current project behaves differently in my initial test using RH7 demo (thanks to the correction, using IE v6). Perhaps I had not noticed before, but the whole expression or sentence or paragraph (this varies) each found and highlighted Word is bold!

This was? If anyone else has noticed this? I unconsciously have turn some settings or corrupt a style? It's quite distracting and my client does not like this. I verify that the file whtopic.js in the generated WebHelp files collection does contain the fix.

I thought it could be related to whether the word found (or any in the surrounding original text) was bold, but it happens in paragraphs even where I have not used all fat. I am confused - or it is a 'feature '?

Thanks as always to this community helpful and responsive!

AHA! Persistence is paying off. I found and removed ' make-weight: bold; " et "make-style: normal" of the "span" in my main style sheet style definition, leaving "extended" empty definition. RH7 of Format / style editor poster now "span +"as the definition of 'merged' under the character.»

Him stressing present now works as it should, simply emphasizing the elements found as to the format. Starting to get the hang of Styles, I guess...

  • The search for bookmarks in the library "Show all bookmarks": output is missing an * important * thing...

    (1) open a library "show all bookmarks".
    (2) search for any article you know is there, but you don't know where he is among the Favorites.
    3) click on any element in the resulting list.
    (4) you will see a lot of information about the item (bookmark), you clicked on.

What you want * NOT * see is this very important piece of information: the LOCATION IN THE LIBRARY OF THIS BOOKMARK.

Where this bookmark is placed in the library? In what folder/subfolder?

I invite the developers of FireFox to add this info. Please...

    Thank you!

There is an add-on for this:

    https://addons.Mozilla.org/firefox/addon/show-parent-folder/

After installation and activation of the extension, Parent folder must appear on the list of columns in the Library dialog box.

If you want to see the full hierarchy the bookmark rather that just the name of the folder, you can set the page modules. Either:

    • CTRL + SHIFT + a
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Find show Parent folder on the right, then click on the Options button.

Note: The extension was created more than 7 years ago and he's still not a built-in feature, so please don't hold your breath!

  • Can I search for a word in the description of a bookmark?

When I add a bookmark, I often add a description.
Another reason why a lot of my favorites are the descriptions is that I am an old user of delicious and I imported these bookmarks in Firefox.
So I would like to search for words that I wrote in the description, because the description is often more significant than the label, the name or the URL.
But unfortunately Firefox does not resemble the description during the search in bookmarks.
    Nor find any extension.

A backup of bookmarks HTML includes descriptions, so you could open such a backup in a tab and use the search bar to search the page.

You can make Firefox create an automatic HTML (bookmarks.html) backup when you exit Firefox, if you set the pref to true on the subject browser.bookmarks.autoExportHTML: config page.

This backup is created by default in the profile as bookmarks.html folder whenever you close Firefox, but you can set the file name and the path through the pref browser.bookmarks.file on the topic: config page.

The pref browser.bookmarks.file does not exist by default and you must create a new pref to string with the name browser.bookmarks.file and set the value to the full path of the file backup bookmarks including the name of the file.

  • A folder of bookmarks disappeared, but when I search in the sidebar for some sites, they appear, then how to search for the folder?

The folder has disappeared from the sidebar and I get each of the other folders, but not luck. Yet when I do a search of bookmarks for entries individually, they appear. But it is essential that find the folder to my work because I don't remember all items [300 or more] and their URLs. The search function does not search for files, which is a real problem.

Hi, you could have a look at your profile. Or, have you tried to restore from backup - open bookmarks > show all bookmarks > import and backup > restore.

  • How folder names can be included in the results of search for bookmarks?

I would like to be able to search for names of folder of bookmarks in the Bookmarks window.

Y at - it a commonly recommended addon which will include the names of the folders in the search results?

@cor-el, thank you for your reply - I hope there could be a real record search. I'm probably not the first person to need this.

I see this new extension ("Awesome search Extension") without a lot of users yet - it's not clear to me if it has the feature I need, but maybe it's worth a try?

  • After a search of the library of bookmark for some a bookmark (and believes it is research), how did you then say it's in the folder? There should be a column 'File' in the line of title like this, Tags, file name, location. Thank you.

A search in bookmarks in the library should provide each bookmark folder and name, Tags and location.
As it is now, a search (for example) for the string 'IESI', a company in the center of Texas garbage collection, actually concludes IESI. But what happens if you don't remember which folder you put the bookmark IESI? Ongoing research fails to provide information of record.

    See:

  • search for "informant" retrieves "information."

When I search for "informant", Thunderbird back emails highlighting the word 'information '. I want only e-mail with "informant." I tried to put it in quotes, but that did not help.

You know the folder in which it is in? If so, you could try the quickfilter, or an older search via ctrl + shift + f.

  • Search for century link address bar but only for one word

I fixed that in time on the century and disabled all link page and also the fixed there are in the config, but with the latest update of Firefox when I just search for a word it evokes century links, all of the other research that are more than one word I get the usual Google.

    If this happens again...

Maybe it's a helpdesk Web of Qwest (sic) .
    http://www.dslreports.com/Forum/r26435215-Qwest-opting-out-of-CenturyLink-Web-Helper-hijacking-not-worki

There is an 'opt-out' on this page - http://webhelper.centurylink.com/prefs.php
Note: When you disable who have only pref is saved in a cookie. So, if you clear your cookies, you will need to return to this page and set this preference all over again; so bookmark this page, if Qwest is your ISP and you use DNS servers (which is the default, unless you have changed in the operating system).

  • I have a lot of favorites, and I want to search them, similar to a search for files on my computer. How can I do? Please say it's possible.

I need to be able to search for my Firefox favourites. For example, I know that I have bookmarked with wot on behalf of it, but for the life of me I can not find it among all the bookmarks I have. There must be around a thousand (not exaggerating do not). I know not at all where I did, and I know it's there, but I can't.

So, how do I'm looking my favorites similar to as I search my computer for files?

If FF doesn't have this ability, could you PRETTY PLEASE consider adding this feature?

Firefox allows the bookmark search. The "Bookmarks" menu, select "Show all bookmarks" (Ctrl + Shift + B). A new window will open showing the bookmarks library. In the upper right corner is a search box.

Also, by default, when you start to type an address in the address bar at top, Firefox offers links to history & bookmarks. So you should be able to find just here also. Click here to learn more.

  • Search for right click Firefox 13 - stay on the Page After searching as Previous Versions

    Hello

When I highlight and click right a word on a page and then click on "search Google for ' the result opens in a new tab - as expected. But in firefox 13 it switches immediately to the new created google search tab.

In previous versions of firefox it would stay on the current page and leave the new tab on google search in the background ready to be open when I'm ready.

I would like to know how to change this feature in v13 to the way it was in previous versions, as described above.

    Thank you.

Hello apple_juice, you can enter Subject: config in the address bar of firefox, confirm the notification of information (in the case, it turns out), search for the preference named browser.search.context.loadInBackground & switch true by double-clicking it. that should bring back the old behavior...

This works for typing the search term directly in the URL address bar, but not research in the context menu.

I have already selected Google. This example uses always dot com for the resulting search page that opens, I wanted to have it open with google dot ca.

I just discovered this module of MyCroft Project

Course to the bottom of this page, number 5, is the Google.ca search bar . Click on the previous link to add this engine to the FireFox search engines list (on the menu drop-down) went around, so I guess I solved my problem. See menu attached to capture. I hope this helps someone else, as it took me a while to find. It was not found in the standard modules, you can find the usual Mozilla several pages of Add-ons
