  I have a Dell Precision 380 and that you just added a second hard drive, a SATA 750 GB WD. I use Windows XP pro.

  I have problems with this drive. When I start the machine it takes forever to get to the login screen. After I got the new drive connection is not visible in Windows Explorer. If I restart the machine, so it loads quickly and everything is OK. Then everything is OK either re-booting or switch to standby mode.

  However, if I closed and leave it for a long period of time (at night) and re - start the problem above apperas yet and I have to wait as the login screen and restart.

  If I go to sleep mode during the night and then 'wake up the machine' the next day morning I get several disk writeback:------$fMt error messages. I have to reboot the machine for everyone to be OK.

  I have formatted/re-formatted and partitioned the drive several times (NTFS) partition/disk layout is OK.

  I start to think that maybe the BIOS does not like Western Digital drives.

  Any information appreciated.

• Tecra W50 - cannot start when installing the second hard drive (caddy).

  I have a Tecra W50 PT640A 04103NN1.
  When a second hard drive is installed in the Bay of DVD player cell phone will try to boot from the drive bay, not the internal drive
  This second drive has no operating system installed and so the fails to start.

  If I hit F12 at startup and select HARD drive, while the machine starts correctly. That is starts on the main hard drive.
  Change the order of boot in the BIOS makes all the difference; He will always try to boot from the second drive bay drive first.

  I believe that the Bios for this laptop is not developed to serve both drives (like the computer I had that one drive Bay) and it is not possible to prioritize the witch THAT HDD should start first...

• Tecra M10 - 17U use second HARD drive in the Bay of ODD

  My problem is with the BIOS Toshiba waiting for a STRANGE device in this Sata port and cams out with a "CD" error, disable the Sata port.

  I have a workaround, if I start the PC, BIOS after with what this either in the Bay of the STRANGE, after Windows starts, I have insert the second HARD drive in the Bay of ODD, go to "Windows Device Manager" a 'check for changes on the hardware"and voila, the second HDD works fine , for me, it shows a limitation in the BIOS.

  Y at - it assistance, a Beta BIOS or something else, I have the latest BIOS 3.00 for this machine installed.

  It seems that Tecra M10 does not support a select bay that would allow you to use a 2nd HDD rather than the ODD.
  As far as I know select bay is compatible with the Tecra M1, M2, M3, M4, M5, S1, S2

  Boyfriend sorry but I think that if you don t have a second HARD drive connector you can t use a second HDD.
  In addition it of not possible to add a such HARD drive connector.

  If you need more disk space, you must exchange the first HARD drive or you use an external HARD drive to save your files on it.

• Satellite Pro A120 - Second hard drive on secondary IDE channel

  I have a Satellite Pro A120 xp sp3.
  I tried so it can recognize a 2nd hard drive on the secondary ide channel, but it will not. CD player has been removed and replaced by one of them, the with the pata to sata interface.

  I read this story carefully and to be honest I m not sure if a second HDD (instead of the STRANGE) can be used

  My knowledge the IDE second controller does support all the ODD (CD/dvd drive) due to different master/slave/c-salt settings.
  I think it's the same case, why the second HDD is not recognized correctly

  I installed a second hard drive, and while I can see listed in the Device Manager, it is not mounted.

  If the drive is listed in the device but not 'computer' Manager, it must be mounted or a new volume must be created. Please see HP - partitioning and names of hard drives (Windows 7) for more information on using the Windows Disk Management Console.

  To save defeat them the laptop, can someone tell me if it has one or two bays for hard drive? It came with 80 GB of HARD drive. I see the models come with two 80 GB HARD drive. If my model has a vacant Bay, what kind of speed/model of drive should I get to install. I guess that's as simple as putting one in my old satellite pro 4600. Unscrew a few screws and put in a basket?

  As far as I know there no problem if you want to use the second HARD drive. Check the coverage of HARD drive in the lower corner of your Qosmio. Remove it and check the room for the second HARD drive.

  As you know that Qosmio is designed to RAID technology and if you want to use it, you must use two absolutely identical hard drives. If this isn't the case, you can use the same HARD disk with more capacity than first.

• Qosmio F60 turning is not on - HARD drive problem

  My F60 running stock windows 7 and when I turn it on I get a black screen with the following text:

  It sounds a bit like a HARD drive problem.
  I recommend checking out the HARD drive using a free tool called Drive Fitness Test
  This free tool allows you to get more details on the State of the HARD drive and maybe some error would be detected which would mean that HARD drive failures and disk HARD must be replaced.

  In the french of the manual user, page 1-5, it is written that it is possible to insert another disc hard, and on page 2-6, the rear of the A350-122 view shows a second branch on the left for a second hard drive.

  So, I bought an SSD Intel X 25-M to put in the second location. I opened the second location and there is nothing: no sata, no power connector connector, only a location empty.

  So, what's the problem with this Satellite A350-122?

  I agree with the user above. Not all Satellite A350 models support a second HDD. The point is that laptops are country specific products and this feature is not available everywhere. In addition, all models A350 by using the same notebook case in order to have a crack but no connector.

  I had little time today messing with both ' puters and discovered...

  Neither office seems to have the ability to run 2 monitors as is. No problem 29 "should do for now.
  Can't see a way to take the card out of the Slimline wireless and put it in the Presario. Internet not immediately necessary, hard connection cable always an option.

  Hard drives has no different connectors if they are both SATA specifications like other post indicated.

  There is no adjustment to make on hard disks of the rider SATAS. According to me, that one can think of the old school the IDE drives.

  The image below is a diagram for your motherboard. You have enough SATA ports to be used for the second and even a third hard drive.

  Well, I know I don't give a lot of information, but I think I might have found the problem.

  I first of all so that it could be a motherboard problem (I don't know, maybe some incompatibilities with some HARD drive I don't know), but seemed unlikely because everything, including SSD, works very well. Then I tried to google my model of HARD drive with 'bug' or 'problem '.

  You have misused terminology in this issue, so it's a little difficult to determine what your problem may be caused.

  What do you mean by "the computer does not recognize the additional hardware?  Only shows drive in disk management (start > run > diskmgmt.msc > OK)?  If the player appears in disk management, but not in my computer, you may need to use disk management to assign a drive letter.

  It seems that if you want to take the faulty computer hard drive (in condition, of course, was not the hard drive itself which was defective) and put it in another computer.

  There is no such thing as a "slave of the Tower position."  Likely, you just put the old drive into an available drive Bay.

  Generally, the 'secondary' water is used for optical drives - not a second hard drive.  Usually, if there is only one hard drive, it is connected to the connector at the end of the water and the second hard drive is connected via the connector in the middle of the cable.  The cable connected to the primary IDE connector on the motherboard should be a 80 wire cable, while the other may be a 40 wire cable:http://www.mikeshardware.com/howtos/howto_connect_ide_hd.html

  When you have 2 drives connected on the same cable 80 wire, one is the 'master' (the one linked at the end of the cable) and the other is the "slave".  You specify the drive to this topic, what you are doing by correctly setting the jumper on the pins at the rear of the car.  You set the jumper on a 'master' and the other as 'slave' or two disks can be set for "Cable Select" If both support this and you have the special cable Select "Cable".

  However you connect, you must make sure that the drive of the old computer is defined as the slave drive, because you do NOT want to start from this installation of Windows.

  The foregoing assumes that both drives are the older IDE type of walk.  If one or both are SATA drives, it is quite something different.

• Pavilion 6000: No power to second hard drive cable

  Hard disk in the PC crashes mechanically.  You want to ghost a second hard drive before the first drive crashes completely.   Bought double the existing hard drive, but there is no connector power cable for this.  Plug SATA, but cannot turn on the second hard drive.  What should I do?

  If I understand your problem, this is the Connector that you need.  It converts a single SATA power cable with two connectors.  This allows you to connect two drives with the cable.  There are many other brands available on Newegg.  It is an example.
