  • SecureBoot is not configured correctly (Windows Pro 8.1 with Media Center)

I have a HP Pavilion H8 - 1360t purchased July 2012 with Windows 7.  The system has installed UEFI and AMI BIOS v7.09.  I have upgraded to Windows 8, first preview, then the final version.  Yesterday, I upgraded to 8.1.  I now have a watermark bottom right indicating «SecureBoot is not configured correctly...» "and I get activity 2002 of the VerifyHardwareSecurity ' SecureBoot is currently disabled.  Please enable SecureBoot by the system firmware.  I have checked the BIOS and can't find an option to activate SecureBoot.

HP an article stated that a BIOS version of 8 support SecureBoot but there is no upgrade available for this relatively new machine BIOS.

Another article warns against upgrading an HP computer preinstalled with Windows 7 to Windows 8 with the following statement:

" UEFI technology allows a number of improvements in the PC security and performance and is being implemented in all PC pre-installed with Windows 8.". Some PC preinstalled with Windows 7contain UEFI technology and can be modified to provide these features. However the process requires skills and specialist to complete at this time, HP provides instructions to make this change. »

So the question for HP is: what will be a BIOS level or another solution provided for this modern computer to fully activate the SecureBoot?  I've seen a lot of posts on the forums Microsoft Community of other owners of H8 - 1360T so it's not unique to me.  As a player for Microsoft important material, it is hoped that HP would be sensitive to their customers.  As a customer of long date HP (belonging to two previous HP pavilions - the system is 3rd in the House), I sincerely hope that I have not made a mistake in my material of choice provider.

Please download and install the update to the BIOS of your system from the following link:

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp61501-62000/sp61511.exe

This will restore all the functions BIOS necessary for Windows 8/8.1. After updating the BIOS, go into the BIOS and enable the SecureBoot option. This will stop the message secureboot on Windows 8.1.

This also enables the BIOS UEFI environment.

SecureBoot error cannot be resolved depending on why it is caused. In your case I advise you to follow the steps below.

If you see Secure Boot or secure the Boot Configuration in the BIOS, but it is grayed out, try the following:

Step 1. go into the BIOS and load Factory Default HP keys and see if Secure Boot becomes available.

Step 2. If this isn't getting into the operating system and disable "Fast Boot" (measures to disable Fast Boot below).

Step 3. Go back into your BIOS and try load HP Factory Default key.

Step 4. enable Secure Boot at this point.

    Disabling QuickStart

    Step 1. Open Control Panel

Step 2. Click on power options

Step 3. Click on choose what the buttons to

Step 4. Click on change settings that are currently unavailable

Step 5. If you are prompted to click YES

Step 6. under stop settings uncheck the box quick start turn

Step 7. Click on save changes button

NOTE: Activate the fast start setting is not listed, then Hibernate mode has been disabled, removed this parameter, also disabled the quick start.

NOTE: The Legacy Support and Fast Boot must be disabled to enable Secure Boot.

Please feel free to re-post if you have any questions or concerns

  • Disable SecureBoot

    Hello

I tried to disable SecureBoot and activate the priming of the inheritance. It is a fairly simple process, press F10 to enter the BIOS, highlight the appropriate area and press F5 on the Legacy boot to enable it (which automatically disables SecureBoot). I tried this quite several times and each time had no success. I change this setting and that you restart the computer every time it just ends with Legacy Boot disabled and enabled SecureBoot. Yes, I'm saving the settings, if I change other parameters (such as virtualization) they save. Anyone got any ideas on why I can't save these settings after changing their?

Edit: I forgot to mention that I have a HP Envy 15-U010DX. I have also updated the BIOS and spin the latest version.

    Thank you

  • Disable Secureboot on the Lynx?

I saw the other post which ended in the Linux forum with no response. This isn't about Linux. Can someone answer the question once for all, Lenovo or of the community and to give a definitive answer.

Is it possible to disable Secureboot on the Lynx?

    Thanks in advance.

I got the answer if anyone is interested.

    In 8 Winddows goto:

    Laptop-> General-> boot advanced settings

    After reboot of the array:

Troubleshooting-> advanced-> settings of the UEFI firmware options

    In the UEFI:

Click security settings set a password admin (but don't forget it)

After you set the password to admin the Secureboot option will appear.

You can now disable secureboot and change the settings if necessary.

Also, you can clear the admin password after you turn off the secureboot and

While the option will disappear secureboot will continue to remain disabled.

Maybe it works for other platforms?

    Hi Tyler

I tried with /secureboot command line switch, but its not allow me to change partition to NTFS format.

    Deepak

    Deepak,

To start under UEFI, you need to boot from a FAT32 partition and since USB Thumb drives allow only one partition, the tools for FAT32 only locks. A secondary drive which is NTFS, or even a network drive could be used to store your WIM files if they are bigger, then the limitation of 4 GB to FAT32. Just start with the key USB ImageAssist and point the tool corresponding to the NTFS drive or use it to map a network drive.

    Thank you

  • 8.1 Windows "secureboot has not been configured correctly" watermark.

Hello world! Last night, I've upgraded to windows 8.1. It works perfectly, but there is a watermark on the bottom right corner saying "SecureBoot has not been configured properly to build 9600 ' but as I said otherwise the computer works perfectly. What should I do about it? My computer is HP Pavilion laptop g7 thanks in advance

A program like Belarc Advisor can be downloaded for free to scan your system and provide the key to the windows registry if necessary, but I don't think it helps in this case.  However, it will show if SecureBoot is enabled or disabled.

I have a new G7 and updated for Windows 8.1 yesterday and received the same message.  Finally, I fixed the problem by going into settings of UEFI by performing an advanced start.  Once in the BIOS, it appeared that the SecureBoot keys have been corrupted by the update so I refreshed and activated.

    1. go in settings-> laptop-> update settings and Recovery-> Recovery-> Advanced Startup - choose "restart now."

    2. Once restarted, select UEFI firmware settings - then the computer should restart and allow you to select the BIOS updated

    3. in the BIOS, go to system-> Startup Options Configuration

    4. my G7 showed SecureBoot as being disabled.  On the same screen, I selected the option to recharge the HP keys then went back up and allowed SecureBoot (before updating the keys that I was unable to choose SecureBoot).  I selected the F key to save and exit and restart without watermark more.

Most of this is from memory so I hope that you all can follow and see if it helps your questions as well.  Basically, you will need to get to the BIOS and verify that SecureBoot is on.

  • Windows 8 secureboot

    Hi all

    PC:

    HP Pavilion G6-2005AX

I installed the latest version of the bios for my laptop before installing windows 8.

Currently, my OS is windows 8.

In the bios settings, the secure boot option is disabled and greyed out (i.e., Unchangeable).

so, how can I activate the secure boot and quick start?

(Also where can I check in windows 8 to see what features?)

    Thanks to you all.

    Hello

Active quick start is located under the power--> your power plan Options.  This is the default value.

Choose what-> the power buttons > change settings that don't are currently not available-->> > then uncheck quick start.    Study the posted article.

If you have another OS as W7 installed on another physical drive, and then wait W8 to define the "dirty bit" for this drive. That will force a chkdsk scan when you start W7. Berk!

Disabling the legacy in bios mode can activate secure starting, but then you might encounter other issues.  CAVEAT!  He has not worked on my DV7t-7000 (no secure boot) at the first glance.

  • Cannot start OSs of HDD external USB on the Satellite NB10t-A-101

I'm unable to install Linux on the Satellite NB10t-A-101, because it does not allow to boot from USB or install other OSs.I tried to circumvent this way: (it came with pre-installed Windows 8).

    (1) turning off SecureBoot (which I did)
    (2) putting USB at the top of the list of starting the computer.

    But it does not work.

I have two HDD USB (a TPG, the other normal) partitioned and it s impossible for them starting with this model of Satellite. I m thinking to return it back to the store that I need to install/start several OSs.

    Hello

Great that you are using Linux on your PC!

You mention that you have disabled the secure boot.
It is very good. But you don't say anything about the startup mode and nothing about what Linux you try to start.

Most of the distros must support UEFI but that can't be true for each of them.
If you want Win8 dualboot with a Linux distro, so you need to active UEFI and able to start in this mode distribution.
If you use a late clone-Ubuntu, Fedora or OpenSuse, you should be fine!

Another clue could be to take the USB key and try to start another PC from him.
Which will give a clearer picture of where the problem lies: on your key or the compatibility of firmware NB10 & distro Linux of your choice.

If you try to boot from a USB - HDD, I'm afraid I'm a bit at a loss as I've never tested.

    I hope this helps!
