Securing a Windows 8 computer with a local user account

In the past I helped my family to protect against involuntary malware by creating two accounts on their machines. One is a standard user that they use to do all the normal things, including surfing the internet. The second is an administrator account, so that they are very intentional on when a program is installed or the registry is changed. It worked well to avoid unwanted malicious software installations.

I have a question about Windows 8/8.1. Can I create a Local account that is the administrator and change the normal Microsoft account that is associated with their e-mail as a standard user?

What problems they will encounter if the Admin account is local? I hate that they have to set up another email address just to get an another Microsoft Account, so it can be the administrator.

On Windows 8/8.1 that work even as he has in the past? That is, when they want to do something that requires administrator privileges that they will be asked to provide the Admin password?

Thank you

Alice

I hope that I was able to understand your question.

Your family doesn't meet problems. You can change their standard account for everyday use as a Microsoft account so their personal data can be synchronized/backupable with Microsoft cloud player. Already, you need not put their Admin account as a Microsoft account. Everything is the same with Vista and 7.

I mean with their personal data:

(1) C:\Users\Alice'sFamilyAdminAccount

2.) record of C:\Users\Alice'sFamilyDailyAccount (their history of the web browser, Favorites, desktop theme, wallpaper, documents, photos, music) this folder can be synchronized over the Internet if change you as a Microsoft account.

Here we are, ok, I'm not an expert, but try this:

As said Mark, you can disable Single Sign-on on the desktop so that after you authenticate to view (it must be a domain user) you can then enter any identifying information that you have on the desktop itself.

Policy details are in 5.1 Administrator's Guide Page 163 views and politics is titled AllowSingleSignon:

    http://pubs.VMware.com/view-51/topic/com.VMware.ICbase/PDF/view-51-administration.PDF

You will be able also a step further. After that you disabled SSO on the desktop, you can configure kiosk in view mode that the client used to connect to this desktop computer (if you are using only a single customer) would link up to this office automatically and then the user would simply see the Windows login prompt and be able to authenticate locally.

  • How to share windows applications 8 between all local users

I installed an 8 app on windows store window. I want another local user, my son to run this application under his account.

    Hello kj_1000

You can install free apps or purchased for each account on the same device of Windows 8.

    1. the user (your son) must sign in Windows 8, go to the store.

    2. once in Store switch to your Microsoft account by opening the charms and under Select settings "your account". Store you will be asked to login or change user, change the user to your Microsoft account.

    3. now, simply find the apps you want to install for your son and install them (and of course pay for them). If you have already purchased or installed the app, back upwards slightly at the bottom of the screen, select your applications in the bar at the top of the screen. In the menu drop-down select all applications. Locate the application you want to install and select, you should then get an option at the bottom of the screen to install.

    4. open the charms and under settings, select "your account", click on logout, which returns the store settings to go back to the Windows user account 8 (your son). " Outlet store.

  • Is any impact of a change of the password of the local user account on an instance of a content server Cisco TelePresence virtual computer?

    Hello

I'm looking to see if there is an impact to change the password of the local user account on an instance of a content server Cisco TelePresence virtual machine?

The software version is v6.2 build 4073.

    Thank you in advance,

    Robert

I'll assume, you are referring to the administrator account, but it can be applied to any local account which is located on the TCS server itself.  It has no impact to change the password, unless you are using doesn't say account to connect to the server of TCS or web interface, it will not affect the application of TCS as most things such as external storage or clustering rely on domain accounts and not the local server.

I installed Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 and since then had to click my username / load my personal settings to start Windows, which slows startup significantly time. • Local user account

Hi, on a new computer a local user account has been created and loaded with personal folders.

Two weeks later, another user account was created with an address of the user online.

The first user account was deleted with its countain.

Is it possible to recover the deleted account?

    Thank you

Not sure if the system restore can restore a user account, but worth a try if you have a restore point before the account was deleted.
