  • Security Center can't turn on Windows Firewall. Turn on manually.

Recently, I uninstalled Trend Micro Internet Security, which had a firewall.  After the installation of Trend Micro Titanium Maximum Security, which does not have a firewall, I realized that I need to enable Windows Firewall.  I get the dialog box that says Security Center cannot enable the firewall of the window and turn it on manually.  Well, I can't get it in market.  I ran many spyware controls and is not on my system.  I found that the WMI repository is consistent.  What to do next?  I ran an sfc/scan now and he said he found corrupt files.

Try this to restart Windows Firewall...

Start button > in the search box, type services > press > scroll down to find the Windows Firewall, click...
topic status, it should be... Has begun
under Startup Type, it should be... Automatic
If it does not say that right home by a click, click Properties > in this window, make the necessary changes...

  • Windows Security Center won't turn on!

    Hello
I recently tried to download something on which my McAfee jumped up to tell me that Trojans had been detected and removed. Needless to say, I deleted that has been downloaded.
Since that incident, my Microsoft Security Center was off and on again, whereas before it had worked, even with my McAfee.
Also had problems with Windows Defender, which does not at all, even though reading some other questions in the forum, I summised that he is a McAfee-Defender compatibility issue and followed the steps recommended to turn off defender.
Downloaded SUPERAntiSpyware and am currently running so far, no threat detected.
I am at a loss to know what to do now to unravel the Security Center!
I am running Windows Vista Home Premium.
    Help, please!

    Hi Steve,.

Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forums.

You please try and run a restore of the system to a date and a time before when you installed the program prompted by McAfee to say you had a virus.

To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:

    1. click on Start, type System Restore in the Search box, and then click System Restore in the programs list. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click continue.

    2. in the System Restore dialog box, click choose a different restore point, and then click Next.

    3. in the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.

    4. click on Finish.

All the steps listed above comes from the following article: (feel free to refer to this article if you want more details.)

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/936212

Please post back and let us know if you could use Windows Media Center after you do a system restore to a date and time before the error.

  • After an automatic update by McAfee SecurityCenter, Windows Security Center can't detect that McAfee is installed.

Today, McAfee SecurityCenter automatically updated itself in version 10.5. Following this update, Windows Security Center detects that McAfee is present on the system, but McAfee reports that it is fully operational.

I already tried to solve the problem using a technique of prompt involving repository.old - on the advice of McAfee support - but it did not work. The McAfee account is held by a member of the family, it is not possible for me to access for re - download the software. Is there anything else I can do?

This is problem with McAfee and I suggest request support to help you, but you can also try to update Windows and make sure you havelatest service pack and also check you might be able to upgrade to the version of newser free McAfee.

    Hi friends

I changed my 'UI language' from German to English and since then my "windows update" does not work. When I goto "Windows secirity center" and try to change it to auto update (which was the case previously), it says "Security Center is unable to change your automatic update settings" and below, ' change settings manually "." but when I click on this option, a window flashes and disappears.

    Hello

Some antivirus/security products may cause this error. McAfee, Norton, Windows Live OneCare.
ThreatFire are some. What antivirus/antispyware/security products you have on machine now. And
who have you ever on it, even if you have uninstalled them. (They leave leftovers that cause
    strange questions.).

Check the default services and dependencies to ensure that they are running.

    When I ran

wscsvc net start at the command prompt I got 'the name of the Service is incorrect.

The problem is with a PC of a close friend and I take possession of his PC remotely.  My PC has a Prompt command link in my Start Menu... its actually not.  So I started his command prompt by typing CMD is the Start Menu... my point, when I run CMD on my PC I can right-click on its icon in my Start menu and click on administrator.  With my friends PC... I typed CMD to get to a CMD prompt... I do not run as administrator.  But was it had to be run as an administrator, I would have thought that the message would read "a need administrator...". "and not that it's an invalid service.
