  • Windows 7 security for the family

    Hello

A couple of years back, I've set up family safety on my daughter's laptop Win 7.  She is now 17 and a senior in high school.  Time to lift the restrictions.  They interfere with his school work.  I had a couple of Microsoft accounts over the years.  I think that I probably put in place safety for the family on his machine using an older account.  When I try to log in security for the family on his cell phone, he already has my most recent user name and allow me to the older (and the password).  When I get my most recent credentials, it says the following: "the action cannot be completed because the parent is therefore more a part of the Family Safety family."  How can I enter the security software for the family on his computer, turn it off and uninstall.  Thank you.

    Hello Ellen,.

Thanks for writing to us, we are happy to help Microsoft Community.

I understand that you want to replace the primary parent in family safety. I apologize, but we do not have this option of parental control. What you can do is to reconfigure your parental control by using the new account that you have. First of all, you must disable the parental controls from your main account.

For more information about disabling/removing Family Safety, please visit the link below.

How can I remove parental control?

Once you clear the previous parent ID, you can configure Family Safety using the new user as the ID of the Parent account.

  • How can a member of the family without an account standard security for the family... I have windows 7

I use to have security for the family, but it has just stopped working.  I need for a family member who does not have a standard account.  I downloaded Essentials.

    Hi jaguar1234,

The latest version of the parental control now uses the standard user accounts (logon Windows) as a child in the safety of the family. If you need to know about adding a user to the Windows login with standard privileges, please see this link.

Once you have finished creating a standard user account and that you want to manage under parental control, then follow these steps:

    1. run the parental control on a Windows account with administrator privileges. If this is your first time running the parental control, you need to sign in using your Microsoft Account.

    2. after login, select the standard Windows account that you want to monitor as a child by checking the box to the right of the name of the account, and then click Next after.

3 on the right, you will see members parental control with a list of drop down option. Click the menu drop-down, and then select Add standard account name.

    4. click on record. Wait until the installation is done.

    5. Once done, you should see the name of the account under Windows monitored accounts. To manage the account and setup of filters and restrictions, to connect on https://familysafety.microsoft.com, look for the child account name, and then click change settings.

If you are having trouble configuring your parental control, do not hesitate to reply to this post.

    Thank you.

  • How configure security for the family of my adolescence with the ablility to add or remove installed programs?

The young person must be able to install and uninstall programs as an administrator. I tried setting up a standard account, but the first thing he did was to try to remove the Windows Live folder. He also tried to hack the system to remove the program. The teenager still fills the hard disk at maximum capacity, which is about 230 GB and he wants to be able to uninstall or remove programs regularly. I would like to set up his account to be able to do, but it prevents playing with security for the family. The reason for the installation of the family safety program is to monitor its activities. If he knows he's being watched it will be twice before doing things he's not supposed to do. The program works very well for young children, but adolescents are more difficult to treat. There must be a way to monitor its activities without her havoc on the operating system. Microsoft has done a great job with this program regarding now the difficulties children but this all older children who need a little more freedom. Can someone help?

The first thing I would do is to create the admin password recovery media, then create another admin account.

If the teenager needs admin privileges you are wide open, so I hope that you have all your recovery disks and backup data.

  • Error 80041002 safe for the family

Trying to unlock a site for my children who are put in place with strict web filtering.  If I do it through "Ask anyone", he gives an error 80041002 and is not unlock.  I've went to the site of security for the family and added the site to the 'green' list - it is on the list but does not leave the child on it when they try to access their account.

    Any ideas?

  • Unable to start the Service for the Protection of software

I am running Windows RT on a Lenovo ZTE K3011W-F (aka Lynx). This device has been used by two people before, and so was a previous configuration. I did a factory reset on the device, except Windows now refuses to turn on, so I can't update/customize/upgrade, etc.. It is not immediately ban, but eventually it can be seen as harmful to the security of the system.

I traced the symptoms to what seems to be a reasonable explanation, that is, the Service for the Protection of software is not running, and when he was invited to run, it returns an error indicating: error 5: access is denied.

When I go to activate Windows Sidebar "Change PC settings", I saw a button that says active, but it displays a message that says: "not found Activation Error Description.
