Select, copy/cut and paste (Windows Desktop Client)

A television series, I'm hoping to write for use Adobe Story, and having spent some time using the free browser version, I just went for a monthly subscription - partly to have a client of separate office and partly because I hoped that this would bring the narrative copy and pasting of the conventions in line with other programs (for example the Final draft and the word Windows (, which I largely used for many years). I've never used Ctrl-x, Ctrl + c and Ctrl + v to paste, preferring select text with the mouse or the keyboard, do a right-click copy or cut and paste then with shift-Ins (0 on the numeric keypad).

But even in history, there is no editing functions if you select the text and then right click, and no shift-Insert work. I have to use Ctrl-x, Ctrl + c and Ctrl-v, according to the Web version. Is there a way around this? Is that going to be enabled in a future release? For now, I must say, it is difficult to see the subscription which survive in a second month - it's great to have a desktop client, but it is not easier to use than the free version.

Sorry, but we currently do not have these two features in the editor. i.e. cut, copy and paste options in the right click menu and paste using Shift-Insert.

  • Layers: Copying, cutting and pasting

Another feature I am used that I can't live without (coming from a background of Corel PHOTO-PAINT), is the ability to copy or cut a layer with CTRL + C or CTRL + X. In Photoshop, first of all, you have to CTRL + click on the layer to select its transparency and then CTRL + C to copy the layer, but I'll tell you why it isn't ideal. First of all, it's one more step that is totally useless. Second, sometimes I want to cut the layer completely, which means storing the entire layer to the Clipboard and delete in the same process. In this way, I can just paste right back into my document if I want or I can select a different document and just paste it. I realize, you can drag and drop, but add this feature would not ruin all the existing features, and it makes sense!

To clarify, my request is that if no mask is selected and someone hits CTRL + C or CTRL + X he copies or reduce the entire layer, and layer attached to it masks.

    Thanks for listening

I feel that, by allowing the copy/cut of the layers in the way you propose, it would create a paradox of the Photoshop interface.

The paradox would be: If we allow this to happen, then should we also allow the copy/excision of channels, styles, presets, accurate history, swatches & etc.?

Pretty weird (come to think of it), it works with the railways, if... Well, maybe it's preventing them to apply this feature to the layers. Try this: open the paths and layers palettes. Create an image with a layer and a path. Then, select the layer in the palette. And select a path in the palette. Copy (or cut). There he goes: the functionality you want, but in the wrong palette ;-) Easy don't paths... but then again, the railways are not as annoying as pixels...

As I see it, essentially (PS and I, don't know ' end other applications), elements that appear inside the pallets are prohibited for common OS operations such as copy, cut, and paste. For these operations, you must use the corresponding palette menu.

I guess it's something to do with the maintenance of the entire uniform user interface, without "pallets of rebels behave differently from others" (well, we already have a: paths!) "Maybe thay don't want another?) And also, it keeps things simple and intuitive. Think about it: If you have so many possible recipients for content in the Clipboard, Visual reference of where you want to put to get totally awkward (imagine someone with 3 monitors, 2 of them filled with open palletes PS):

"Allright, I want to stick this thing that I got in the paper..."

    ...

    hummmm...

(eyes desperately scanning the monitors and editing... neck pain)

... ah! Gotcha, here it goes

Heck! Come to the wrong place! Argh!

    .... ..."

It's a chore. I don't want that. It is not always that I know what is in the Clipboard (I remember HAVE contained one like it, Kind ' a 'show' content of the Clipboard-(Hey, it's another request for devs make'em!))

    On a different subject:

Some while ago, I was struggling remove some 30 masks + I had in this doc PS of the mine. Man, HOW I WISH I could CMD-select all these channels and delete'em all in a scream. At that point, I was really upset and wrote a demand function (I guess it was for CS2) about the deletion of multiple channels in the palette layers. After a few ranting I've cooled down and started to think straight, so I thought: if they do not have the aux channels on a separate palette, or do not clearly separation between the layers of color and auxiliary channels, we would never have to be able to remove multiple channels, ' cos that just don't make sense (you can select several channels , but cannot delete them. Something to do with the color channels? Guess it would be weird, but don't know for sure why. A Photoshop guru could enlighten us?

Carefully read your posts, I understand that you don't like Shuffle windows. So here's a tip, where the devs don't you listen to:

Create a new Action and assign a function key (i.e. F2).

In the Actions Palette, select it and on the Actions Palette Menu, assign a menu item to the action. Choose "layer > duplicate layer...» "You can then select a layer or a group (works with both), press F2, and then choose the destination of duplication among all open documents. You can even create a new doc that contains only the duplication.

It's not like you want, but close enough.

Original title: I imported the photos of my card SD by cutting and pasting etil worked very well but when I did the same thing to the table and stuck in the external hard drive, I can't not open images as it is said no preview.

Only this particular file does not open and you please help u to get the photos can save that a link is missing and I don't know what.

    Hi Gregory Trinidade,

You can try to create a folder in the C: drive and copy the images on the desktop folder C: drive.  After copy in C: drive then try again copy on external hard drive and see if it works well or not.

Make sure that you have access to the C: drive. Also instead of cut photos copy in another location.

    Hope this information is useful.

Any new idea to do this? No app that would work?

  • Cut and past. How to choose which files will be passed first?

When I have 10 files to cut and past, windows always spent the last files first. Let's say it takes 20 minutes, and I suddenly have to leave after 10 minutes.  The 5 latest files over, but I really need to take the first 5 with me in a hurry.  Doing this has to do with what I click on the first, or can I use Ctrl + click? It would be slow if you have 100 ongoing cases.

    Hello

Windows copy and glue the last default files.

Follow these steps for the files that you want to copy the files first.

I suggest to perform these steps and check if it helps.

    (a) select the files to copy using the CTRL + X (for cut).

    (b) press CTRL + V (to paste) files.

This will make the process easier.

  • Cut and paste in Windows Explorer is * copy * instead of move.

In Solution Explorer, if I try to move files and folders using cut and paste (or ctrl-x and then Ctrl + v, or 'cut' and then 'paste' from the Edit menu), they were copied instead of moved. It started just past recently after years of using this technique.

If I right click, drag and select 'Go here', he moves correctly.

    Any ideas? Very much appreciated.

    See you soon,.

    Hello Michael,

Your computer is connected to a domain?

This can happen when there is rdpclip.exe service runs as part of a domain network. You can try to stop the rdpclip.exe service to see if that helps.

Another thing that can help is to make sure that you have installed Windows XP Service Pack 3.

Hope that helps, I look forward to hearing from you.

  • Disable the copy or cut and paste completely

    From: kend_beledm

Is it possible on a windows-based systems to disable or completely disable the copy and paste function, any type of program is displayed on the screen.

    De : Andrew McLaren

You can do this for Windows as a whole (and even if you did, users could simply use a print-screen instead, limited data). But you can do it for specific applications: essential technology is Windows Rights Management Services ("RMS"). See http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/technologies/rightsmgmt/default.mspx

If you have an application that can participate in a RMS infrastructure, you can indeed set up policies to selectively allow or prevent the n-cut-paste, etc., to users and groups. or refuse to cut-and - paste altogether in this application.

Microsoft Office is the application most common which can be plugged into RMS. Once it is all together, it is extremely effective... you really want to cut-and - paste privileged information from this juicy email or a Word document. but hell, you just can not! You also cannot transfer protected emails, etc..

There is a public SDK, so anyone can write an application that subscribes to RMS and restrict access to the application data. However if you have a legacy application (IE, an already existing application) which you can not re-engineer, so I think you're a bit stuck. You may need to address the issue of security in a non computer perspective, such as human resources policies, etc.

You can also take a look at the Software Restriction policies ("PRS"), a similar security Windows feature. SRP will not stop users to cut and paste, as such; but it lets you create a very controlled environment. You can stop the users do a lot of things you don't want to do. See:

Caircraft are 2 x 3 image is higher resolution than your 8 x 11 file.

Change the resolution of the 2 x 3 to match you res 8 x 11 before you copy it to the new file or

Choose this layer in the copied file and then edit > transform > scale. Be sure to hold the SHIFT key while you move the handles to angle to maintain the proportion.

  • Cut and paste multiple selections to separate the layers?

Whether you have multiple selected items with text scrolling.

    Something like this:

    http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd286/freefileinc/selection.jpg

Anyway, is to have, in this example, all cut and pasted to their own layer icons?

If you do not have these limits of selection around the individual images, then the crop option & straightening in the Automatemenu would do the trick.

Of course, it works on a contact sheet or a screenshot of thumbnail images.

Edit: This would create a separate image for each icon. You would then load these documents into a pile or to import the files as layers.

  • Cut and paste

I cut and pasted a file from one hard disk to another.   The file was pasted successfully to the destination drive... but without its content.   A way to recover these files?    Windows XP

The files might just be hidden.  Go to control Panel > Folder Options > view and select Show hidden files and folders .

BTW, I always recommend using copy and paste, not cut and paste when moving from one drive to another.  You can delete the original files when you do not know that the copy was successful.
