  If you want to change the handles symmetrically, so that they are uninterrupted - direct face-to-face and the same length, you have to start over - drag - click on the anchor with the anchor Point tool.

  I don't think you should use the Alt key

  After that, assuming that both handles are uninterrupted, you can click drag with the direct Selection (white arrow) tool on the end of handles and the curve will remain smooth as handles to remain intact.

Having to move the two Bézier handles when they are broken in rotoscoping is like having to make double the quantity of work.   Also, you can see how it goes! All you have to do is open AE, create a new layout, create a new solid layer, create a mask with Bezier handles and button mask at the beginning of the model path and then move the handles Bezier path at the end of the model as you're rotoscoping something, then go in the middle of the model and try to move the handles.   It's all in how you use the tools. For rotoscoping, most of the time you will find it is more easy to use traces of Rotobezier but for traces of Bezier technique is basically the same. Use the pen tool to do all your repositioning. Do not add summits in the that you animate. Use Alt/Option keys and Ctrl/Cmnd to change the selection feather (black triangular arrow head) tool, group selection small white arrow (alt/option) to convert vertex. Feel free to use multiple masters to facilitate rotation. Do not hesitate to stabilize (no chain stabilize) the images to facilitate rotation. I also recommend doing your roto on a solid color rather than images. The solid color to multiply the value or screen sho you can see through it, and then use it as matte when finished. It is much easier. Check out this short video on the technique:

  It seems that if you click on a dot on the handle (not the anchor point) with the scale tool and just slide it by using smart guides, it shows a diagonal line guiding the cursor to a uniform scale. The length of this steering line corresponds to the extended handle. (Don't hold down SHIFT while dragging the scale tool)

  This requires that val > = 0. If you don't know a lower bound for val, and then the same basic approach still works, but it's a bit messier.

  I'll answer one of your three messages that asked this question.  If possible, please remove the other two.

  Hover and dragging moves the axis as it should.  The cursor turns into a hand to indicate the area brushed, it moves.

  Hover over the pin code, press the Alt/Opt key and drag left and right and the effect will become less and more.   The cursor turns into a two-headed arrow to indicate that the function of the drag has changed.  If you are not hovering over a pin code and press the Alt/Opt, then the cursor turns into a brush to erase to remove the adjustment every time you paint.
