I did a system restore and boot has changed. The only program that I can open is all the others, that I wonder select the program to use to open with Explorer. What should I do?

It is no longer a row of icons at the bottom right, and asked me to choose a program to use to open files

Hello and welcome to Microsoft Answers. It seems that your computer is infected with malware. The first thing you need to do is re - associate your executable files with applications.

First

Click Start > run > type cmd in the Run dialog box, and then press ok. On the line of command prompt type "assoc.exe = exefile" without the quotes. If you are unable to open the applications follow the second below.

Second

Right click on start > search. Type rundll32.exe in the field of the files to be searched. Choose to search for your main drive (usually C). Select the search hidden files and folder advanced features. Click on the search button to start the search. In the results list, find the associated rundll32 file C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386. Right-click on rundll32 to the left of the directory above and choose 'open file location '. The rundll32.exe file should be highlighted when the folder opens. Right-click on the file and choose copy. Then, in the search results list, right-click on rundll32 which corresponds to C\Windows\system32\rundll32.exe and choose "open file location". Again the file should be highlighted. Right-click on the file and choose Remove. Right click again in a free space in the folder and choose Paste. If this does not resolve your problem, you will need to get a windows OS disk and extract the file from there.

Once this problem is solved, you will need to perform several anti-malware analysis. You should start with Malwarebytes. Make sure that you update the parser before the scan.

  • Fact a system restore and you need to download firefox so that it can work, but now have lost all bookmarks, is it possible to get them back?

A system restore to see if that could solve the problem with registration to Xbox games. It corrects this problem, but firefox would not work. So I downloaded again, but now lost all bookmarks. Is it possible to recover?

    Chas65 said

I don't see the restore function.

Hmm, when you are in the dialog box (Ctrl + Shift + b) library, you have the menu "import and backup"? Restoration is expected to be in this menu.

  • Unable to access several sites and install apps in the appstore. A possible malware issue. What should I do?

    Hey guys,.

I am using a 8 GB Mac Mini with an i5 processor clocked at 2.6 GHz Mac OSX Yosemite 10.10.5 (14F27).

I don't have problems with this until I visited a torrent site (I hate invited but unfortunately I did this time). Since that unfortunate activity, I get mackeeper pop ups and my search engines by default on all my browsers like Safari, Firefox and chrome automatically replaced by trovi. I can't access to 90% of websites like YouTube except facebook, twitter, Netflix, gmail, google, yahoo and other email clients. I get a "cannot connect" on firefox and messages error 'Safari cannot connect to the server. I checked with the ISP settings and proxy but no problem there as my other devices such as the ipad and the iphone apple work fine on the same wifi network. I erased all the extensions, cookies and cache but without success.

I am also unable to access the app store to install applications. I wanted to make its own memory and a removal of the malware, but couldn't that since the appstore could not contact the server.

I mainly use this machine for audio production and browsing through Logic Pro X.

What is a malware problem? If so, how to fight that? Should I format my HD and upgrade to El Capitan? Who will solve the problem?

    Kindly help.

    See you soon,.

  • System does not boot after changing the appearance settings

I installed XP Home successfully, but the resolution of the screen to be changed. When I followed the instructions of troubleshooting, I was unable to get to the drivers. I changed the settings on the advanced screen prompt to auto, and now after the Windows XP logo load and it I hear the hard drive running, the next screen is completely white/black. Help!

Is this the same solution for: in the advanced options of monitor, I selected "do not use this device"?  I tried to update the driver for the monitor and reach for straws when the button 'update driver' has been 'grayed out' (not available).  I have a new HP 2009 flat screen and have just installed XP on a new hard drive.  Monitor worked, although some resolution.  The type of monitor has been defined as "default monitor" and driver is VgaSave.  Thank you!

  • I did a system restore and now I can not connect. Error code oxc004e002.

I ran the restoration of the system and now unable to connect. Error code oxc004e002 AAn arrives. McAfee also keeps poping up saying that I am not protected

    Hi Rita Morgan,.

    1. on what application you can not connect?

    2. When you mention "sign in" mean, you are not able to boot to the desktop?

    3. have you updated your McAfee security software?

Make sure that it is not expired and updated your McAfee software up-to-date.

Follow the steps below and check, if it helps.

    Step 1:

Start your computer in safe mode with network and check if that helps to connect.

    Step 2:

This problem can also be caused by a malware, I you have to perform a full scan in safe mode with network in order to remove the malicious software and since then, your McAfee does not protect your machine, I would have you to run a scan using the link below.

  • I did a system restore and the files are still there, but I can't find the location.

I did a restore on my Windows XP system because I was not able to access my desktop because the password entry bar giving access to the Office not show up no matter how many times I rebooted the computer.

When I made the recovery of the system, he said that my files were not going to be deleted, all programs were still there, but the photos, videos and music were gone from My Documents.

So I tried to find on the C drive, I thought that maybe they had just moved somewhere else. I even went in the folder options to show hidden folders, but the files are not in one of these folders.

However I know that the files are still there, because when I look at the properties of the drive C with the right click of the mouse, it says drive C is always full, as it was before the system recovery. So this means that the files are still there but I don't know where.

I have lots of family photos and videos that I want back. These are the only things I want to get back and maybe my music files.

Any ideas how I can find these files or the folder that contains the? Perhaps through MS-DOS or something like that? I have external hard drives to copy if I find them.

    Maybe this will help you:

I did a system restore and now Firefox does not open. (Edition Vista Home premium)

    No problem.

Click on "programs and features" in your control panel. You will see your old version of 3.6 it and NOT version 4.

Uninstall the version 3.6 DO NOT click the check box to delete your stuff.

Go here and reinstall the version 3.6.17: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all-older

It undertakes to repair your version 3 and you will be operational with your old favorites, etc.

I got calls from a dozen people with this problem, and it's the solution.
