selection of objects in illustrator

I do some very specific changes to a batch of images and not to find the best way to speed up the process.

Here is my method:

Place an image in illustrator, use the vectorization (6 colors) and expand.

Now I want to select only the objects in a particular area, which is a triangle, invert the selection, and delete everything outside the shape.

I found a way to reduce the images with my triangle by adding the selection to the live paint function before expanding.

I am importing these objects in a CAD program, so it's important that I have actually to delete the rest of the objects, instead of just them, masking because they are always there when I import to my CAD program.

In addition to individually by selecting and by removing the objects that I don't need, is there a way to instantly choose?

Is there a way to select all the objects in my triangle shape, or select all objects in a form?  You select the same fill color, etc. will not work because the work inside and outside of my triangle are the same colors.

I also tried first cropping the image to my triangle shape personalized with photoshop before importing it in illustrator, but I can't seem to find a way to do it without producing unwanted results.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Vectorization and exapnd. Place the triangle on the top of the trace function that covers what you want to keep.

Select all, Pathfinder > Crop. This will remove all outside the object (triangle).

    It happened through so many versions that I remember most when I met first it.

    One thing works only occasionally when you get such a choice of "ghost";

    Create another object (a small square or other).

    Select it. Your new object and spirit will be selected at this point.

    Align using one of the alignment buttons, any.

    Immediately cancel the move (Cmnd/Ctrl + z) and deselect your new object. On the nine times out of ten the ghost selection will be gone as well. If so, you can remove your superfluous object and continue to work (until next time).

    It does not always work. But it is faster than a reboot when it does.

  • Illustrator of hanging or hesitating when I select an object

    Hey guys, I have a question, and I know I can't be alone on this.

    I got a problem for the last few months with Illustrator CC hesitant when I select an object. It happens randomly. I might be selection of text, a picture, a form, an anchor point, whatever it is.

    Here's what happens:

    I select an object with the direct Selection tool and (without maintaining the mouse button) move my cursor to the next object.

    Instead of being selected, there will be a noticeable delay, and after about half a second, the object that I selected just follow my cursor as if I had clicked and dragged, then released.

    It happens more often when I select multiple objects to make a gesture or a group or just something to a certain number of things, but it happens only with several objects. Whenever this happens, I have to cmd + z and reselect it. It's super annoying when I just spent a good amount of direct time by selecting some anchor points and I have to go all the way back and do more. It's absolutely destroy my workflow.

    Also, I know it's not hardware related.

    I have a new MBP 15 inch brand retina 2014. 16gigs ram, core i7, the whole shebang. Apple recently (yesterday) gave me this machine to replace one of the identical specifications, because I and they determined that shouldn't happen other things happening. Now, I do not think it is more that I have just opened illustrator for the first time, and whaddya know. I had a bunch of other problems with the other computer, and I thought it was just another symptom.

    I use illustrator all day. I have used it for years on less powerful machines. I have a dell of 2011 at home that I use now because of this problem. I am not anything do ram intensive, and that happens not only on the great illustrator documents. It happens in the Mavericks and Yosemite. I'm completely updated in all. I'm not using a fancy or wacom mouse, and it comes up with the trackpad as well.

    I disabled all my extensions and finally understood that this bug is related to BetterTouchTool, which is used to align windows on Windows. Too bad, because I like to have this option, but getting rid of it is better than having to constantly undo. I will update if the problem persists, but I can already see a significant improvement in performance.

  • How, in Illustrator CS5, select all objects with the three points (or nodes)?

    I'm fairly new to Illustrator, but it seems like it should be simple.  (It's trivial in CorelDraw X 4: after selecting an object with three knots, I go to Edition > search and replace > find objects > find objects that correspond to the currently selected object and navigate the menus left.)

    In Illustrator CS5, select options > identical do not seem to include the selection of all objects with the same number of nodes under the currently selected object.

    A double click on the magic wand tool also does not provide such an option.

    Thanks for any help.

    PS also useful would be knowing how to add other criteria to this search, for example, how to select all objects with three points * and * the current fill color.

    advictoriam,

    I'm afraid that you have better luck with the number of anchor Point.

  • How to select several objects on the layers panel in Illustrator CC

    I have a work of guge and I need to select a small group (about 10-100) of objects from 4000 bunk and then group objects ' em/split-to-layers for ease of use (this is an infographic of the human body for medical institute)

    There IS NO way by selecting in the Web because they are overlapping and sometimes not visible at all.

    in CS5 there was a function to select several objects to the icon selection Alt + click - move on the right in the Layers panel.

    Now the mode duplication towers - on when I try to run it.

    Then.

    Ho I select several object without having to click through thousands of them? (I need to drag-select)

    IM totally frustrated.

    As long there is no deliberately locked object, you can do the following:

    Drag on the lock column in the layer panel

    Object > unlock all (there is a shortcut for this)

    -> unlocked objects are selected

  • Copy and paste multiple objects in Illustrator to Photoshop in the form of multiple layers

    I am working on an application and will stick in hundreds of groups from Illustrator to Photoshop.

    Is there a way I could select all in my Illustrator file and when I paste it into Photoshop it sticks each object as its own layer (I need it to stay Smart Objects).

    Here is a picture of what I'm working on: http://i.imgur.com/bSn7Qew.png

    Each number is a group of several objects and I'd love to be able to copy all and paste into Photoshop as 100 layers rather copy and paste each number one by one.

    In Illustrator make each unique in a compound shape. (use the menu in the pathfinder for this Panel.

    Then export a PSD in Illustrator using editable character maximum. The forms will then form layers in Photoshop.

    How about Ctrl / Cmd + Shift + B to switch between showing and hiding the bounding box?

    Absence of any (other) cause/cure, try the list:

    Sometimes, (some) things may fail or stop working for no apparent reason. When (other) possible reasons/remedies do not work, it is perhaps a kind corruption (temporary or permanent), or even preference settings which disturbs, which can be cured with something on the following list put in place in order to provide a catch-all solution for otherwise intractable cases. It starts with a few easy suggestions and safe) 1 and 2) for cases less serious and goes two ways 3) and 4) to reset the default preferences (easily but irreversibly and more laboriously but more completely and also reversible), then follows a list 5) various other possibilities, and it ends with a complete reinstallation 6). If no other suggestion doesn't work, or if no other suggestion appears, you can start on the list and decide how to go or who can apply.

    The following is a general list of things, try when

    (A) the question is not in a specific file,

    (B) you have a printer installed, connected and turned on if it's a physical printer (you can use Adobe PDF/Acrobat Distiller as a printer by default without the need to have a printer on, of course you will need to specify when you really need print on paper), and

    (C) It is not caused by problems with opening a file from external media (see below).

    You tried/made some of them already; 1 and 2) are easier for temporary strangenesses and 3) and 4) specifically may be corrupted/inconvenient preferences); ((5) is a list in itself and 6) is the last resort.

    If possible / there is, you must record a current work first, of course.

    (1) close Illy and open again.

    (2) restart the computer (you can make up at least 5 times);

    (3) close Illy and press Ctrl + Alt + Shift / Cmd + Option + shift during startup (easy, but irreversible);

    4) move the folder (follow the link with this name) with closed Illy (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible), for CS3 - CC you can find the file here:

    https://helpx.Adobe.com/Illustrator/KB/preference-file-location-Illustrator.html

    5 look through and try the relevant among the other options (click on the link with that name, item 7) is a list of the usual suspects among other applications which can disturb and confuse Illy, point 15) applies to the maybe CS5, CS6 and CC);

    Even worse, you can:

    6 (A) uninstall (check the box to delete the preferences, if any), B) run the cleanup tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC) and C) reinstall. It is important to use this step three way: otherwise, things may persist.

  • I'm updating photoshop today and when I drag an object from illustrator to photoshop, the object doesn't turn into a dynamic object why?

    Update photoshop today and when I drag an object from illustrator to photoshop object market not turning into a smart object why?

    OK - think I have this sorted out now.

    When you copy and paste an Illustrator file in Photoshop, you get the dialog box PASTE.

    You can paste as smart object, Pixels, path and shape layer. In the past, you would select depending on what you want (in my case for most Smart Object) and viola - you have your dynamic object. However, in the newly revised version, there is a checkbox in low called "Add to my current library" If this box is checked, it becomes a library file that displays with a 'cloud' icon in the layer. If you uncheck the 'Add to my current library' it won't matter as a regular smart object.

  • Selection of objects by crossing, no window

    Requires the object selection tool now allows you to select the object in the entire window, rather than just go through the object. I tried to hold ctrl, shift, and really anything else I can think of. Is it possible to use the select object tool and select both lines 30 +? I can't use the window as I would be by removing everything that surrounds the objects that I'm trying to delete.

    Thank you

    Shea

    On a mac, using Acrobat DC: I found that Opt + drag allows me just to cross the edges of objects to select several objects.

    Using Acrobat XI, Opt and Cmd + drag, drag had the same effect of allowing me to select several objects just across borders, without having to draw a marquee around each of the objects.

    Alternatively, if you have Illustrator, you can edit the page using Illustrator. Select some objects (or objects with Cmd + A), then make a right click Change t with Illustrator.

  • How can I request features objects from Illustrator?

    This seems to be an amateur and very simple problem, but I had no chance to solve in the last days.

    In Illustrator, I did a series of glyphicons I want to use in Photoshop.

    Now, I don't want to not simply copy and paste these glyphicons static objects.

    but apply various effects to them, most basic among them being stroke.

    Out of the four options to import an object from Illustrator into Photoshop,

    I have excluded dynamic object because it forces me to move forward and backward Illustrator and Photoshop to change,

    and I of course excluded pixel as well.

    I have the feeling that my answer may be found in the path,

    but I've been playing mainly with the shape layer.

    However, the biggest problem I have with the shape layer is the one

    It recognizes the external contour of the imported object,

    However, there is no way to do it for something else.

    For example,.

    Sample.jpg

    If I bring the subject above to Photoshop via the shape layer,

    It won't recognize the circle as an editable area and not the star.

    So my question would be,

    How to do effects like stroke both the circle and Star

    without dealing with the separate objects?

    I would be grateful for any answer! XD

    Moving between AI and PS is a pain and needs to be improved. Once the paths are in PS that Paste as paths, duplicate the shape layer, then remove the external path. That will leave the inner path which you can then draw.

    File in AI:

    Stuck in PS:

    Selected departure then ctrl/cmd-J put stars on its own layer:

  • multiple selection of objects does not appear

    I use Adobe Illustrator CS6 on a Mac.  Usually, when I want to highlight several objects or simply click on one of the paths, then hold the SHIFT key, and select another.  Or I create a selection box and select what I want, and then press SHIFT and click on if there are roads that I want to exclude.

    Today, however, if I try to select several objects, rather than each illuminated object and show me that he selected or not selected, a large box surrounds the global zone boxing in the paths I have chosen, but it would light up individual objects.  This means that I can not tell if some of these objects are highlighted or all of them.  I'm just trying to figure out how to select things once again I can more easily tell what is and is not selected.  Thank you.

    SIS,

    How to draw the line under STROKE and fill of an object in illustrator cc? Any ideas ...

    Aleksandar,

    If I (put) understand it, you will need to divide the object. You can:

    (1) select the object and Ctrl / Cmd + C + F, and then remove the filling of the copy and the blow of the original;

    Draw 2) and drag the new piece down between Division 1 objects) in the layers palette, or select 1 copy) and Ctrl / Cmd + C + F + X + F or similar.

  • How can I select the objects and remove the other objects by using the selection path

    I know that I am able to do this in photoshop. Select an object, lets say a group of letters just by ctrl clicking on the thumbnail of the layer, then put another layer of more selected a group of letters, then go on the other layer (not the Group of letters) and pressing DELETE. I hope I explained it well, otherwise, here is a video that made a good explanation of it. Gyazo - 015091c2a0a6d2da038901dfb16c0a7f.gif I just need to know if there is something similar to that offered in illustrator, thank you!

    What you're trying to re-create the Photoshop is called: less prominent of the Pathfinder Panel.

    Hello

    I want to select all objects in terms of active work using javascript

    someone help me please with script

    Thank you

    APPU

    JavaScript is case-sensitive, activedocument is not the same thing as activeDocument

    change

    var doc = app.activedocument;

    TO

    var doc = app.activeDocument;

    You can't use the methods themselves, must qualify the first object

    change

    selectObjectsOnActiveArtboard();

    TO

    doc.selectObjectsOnActiveArtboard();

    You should start by reading The Intro from Adobe to the script and practice according to the samples presented, then continue with Illustrator Scripting Guide and the Reference of Scripting in Illustrator
