Selling Machines with Windows 7 activation w / COA, legality

Hi-

I have trouble finding a direct response to my question about multiple resale (even) of the PC with Windows 7. HP sent me to Microsoft, Microsoft sent me to HP.

I'm not a repairman, I work for a dealer. I received multiple quantities of a specific model of computer. I want to do is to install Windows 7 Professional using the COA affixed to the case. Each machine has a certificate of authenticity there are affixed, and each machine is HP branded. The hard drives were all cleared security so no media recovery or recovery partitions do exist.

Is there a legal way for me to install Windows 7 using a HP brand OEM operating system DVD, P/N: 650434 - DN3?

This package contains the correct distribution of Windows 7 to match the COA key on machines. I understand that this is not the original recovery that may have been shipped with the PC media, but it is a real real disk HP to match the brand HP machines.

I would like to sell these PC with the operating system installed, but no recovery media, no recovery partition and no end-user support. I understand how to access the audit mode and am familiar with sysprep so that the end user accepts the license agreement and can complete the entire upward as if it was an out of the box for them purchase.

Please help me understand what it would take and how we can legally resell with Windows 7 OS installed and activated using the COA affixed to each device, if it is legal and possible to the PC.

Thank you!

As long as it's the correct edition that corresponds to what is stated on the COA sticker attached to the machine, it should not be a problem.

  • URGENT! After installing 6 Fusion and creation of new virtual machine with Windows 7, I get a message "VMware Fusion cannot enter the unit". WHAT SHOULD DO?

After purchase, installation and activation Fusion 6 with the license key, I had a library of VMS showing 2 Boot Camp partitions. It's strange that I only have 1.
I tried to activate them but received a message that it is out of date in 2 cases. (see annex 1)

I started a new virtual machine with a Windows 7 installation disc directly on my HD. I have provided a way to do this and followed the instructions of Fusion to the screen.

Apparently, everything went well and after several restarts, the installation appears to be over (see annex 2) I tried to open and run the installed Windows 7. I had however a window with the following message:

    "Pending the unit.

"VMware Fusion cannot enter the unit. Please wait until the unit starts automatically, or interact with the virtual machine below. ' (see annex 3)

Here Windows 7 seems to start but after a while with the home screen and of the Øresund finishing this window closed and open a new window called library Virtual Machine on the left showing the partitions of Bootcamp and the Virtual Machine Windows 7 x 64 and in the middle gray a representation of what is supposed to be the Windows 7 desktop. (see Exhibit 4). When I opened the settings button a window with different setting options pops up. This mark means to me that Windows is installed but the final opening isn't the case

When you quit Vmware Fusion indeed Windows seems to be close (see part 5)

What is going on? What has gone wrong? What should I do? I don't know how to solve the problem.

I should f.i. remove the virtual machine from Windows 7 and is free automatically made partition on my HD as the reboot with the Windows installation disc? or y at - it another way to enter the UNIT?

    Help, please!

    Thanks in advance

Your virtual machine is running. It is in the unit - which each windows gets its own window of Mac - and you have no application Windows running, there is no visible windows. You can start a Windows application in the start of Fusion menu in the menu bar at the top right, or turn on the Windows task bar on the view menu and start applications from there. Or use the view menu to switch to the Single mode or full-screen, which puts all of your Windows desktop in a window separate from Mac.

You do not have two partitions to Boot Camp on your Mac, you have two virtual machines named "Boot Camp partition".

The message about it being unable to enter the unit arrives while the merger is pending for the tools begin to run, because the tool is necessary for the unit.

  • HP ENVY 17-N078CA laptop: seeking the machine with windows 8.1 - and the upgrade to 10.

    Hi all

I am looking at buying a machine to re-furb.

    HP ENVY 17-N078CA laptop

The machine has windows 8.1 and I wanted to know if there was problems with upgrade to windows 10.

    edillard

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

I read your post about upgrading your PC to Win10 and wanted to help.

While HP has not tested your PC with Win10 and has not certified it will work, the good news is that HP does not provide drivers for your PC Win10: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-envy-17-n000-notebook-pc-touch/7777355/model/8429748#Z7_3054ICK0K8UDA0AQC11TA930O2

If this page does not display the windows 10 when you open it, then click Edit and select Windows 10 in the menu drop-down.

Unfortunately, the Win10 GoBack function is NOT reliable, and that can leave you with a corrupt machine that will require the factory reset and lose all that on it, to get it working again.

You can avoid this by making an image backup to an external hard drive or a USB drive using Macrium reflect (MR), which provides a FREE version that can be used to image and restore partitions or drives together.

What I recommend is the following:
    (1) download and install Macrium reflect (MR)
    (2) run M. and choose the option: "Create an image of the partition (s) required to backup and restore Windows" to write a full backup to an external drive or USB key
    (3) use the option to create a CD or a USB startup key

NOW, you have the means to restore a full system that works for the external hard drive or USB key in a few minutes.

    Good luck

I'm a volunteer and I do not work for, or represent, HP.

  • Erasing a hard drive WELL on a machine with Windows 7 and 8

OK, I have two laptops, I'll sell, a HP Pavilion g7 with Windows 7 and a 2000 HP with Windows 8. I want to make sure that no personal info is left on them. I used the function "reset" on the Windows 8 machine and I used on the Windows 7 machine recovery disks. Some of what I saw online, that should be enough, but others say I should also use Windows Eraser, or something like that, make sure that no programs recovery software can recover all the data (if the person I have to sell is be a techie).

... And some say just to use the computer strongly without putting any personal information on this subject and it will make all previous data unrecoverable thereon, but does not say how strongly or for how long to use a computer to ensure that all personnel in this regard is unrecoverable.

So what is the answer? I don't have the recovery disc for the computer of Windows 8, I guess that I had to get a part or do some before using a hard drive eraser.

    Thank you

    Qathe2013

    Hi Qathe2013,

Let me first answer your last question: in most cases, yes you will need your recovery disc or you will end up with a computer without an operating system.  However most manufacturers, including HP, put another partition on the hard disk with a file recovery: what you need to reinstall the operating system.  Depending on how it is configured, this additional partition on the hard drive may or may not appear when you browse your files and folders in Solution Explorer, then you might need to make sure that the manual.

As to the "use the computer heavily and no info cannot be recovered", it's just about the fact that computers are still using re-use of space available disk and overwrite the old regions on the disk.  After a few re-writes the original data cannot be recovered using costly and sophisticated same restoration processes.  But you have no way of knowing if your real personal data was really erased.

I will say that for most, just format the disk is enough.  I might personally feel safe with that I don't have - or even just using the function to reset the PC in Windows 8.  However, this does mean that a sufficiently motivated person were able to restore the bits of information I have.  So a program that replaces empty space on the disk with random data (sometimes referred to as "zero-ing" the disc) would put you at ease.

I would also say long you can get your hands on the recovery CD (or make sure that the recovery partition exists), you can go ahead and clean the drive, reinstalled Windows itself and sell the PC.

  • PC with Windows Vista Business OEMAct COA of second hand

    Hello

I just bought a PC that has a Microsoft COA license sticker attached to it for "Windows Vista Business OEMAct" of second hand. It came without a HARD drive, so I installed my own and want to make sure that the key on the PC is still valid? If I can get my hands on a Vista disk, probably, I can install windows with this key and everything will be fine?
The question I have, is that I can then upgrade to Windows 8 for the $39,99 deal? I don't see why not?

    Hello

You must use the key to see if it is still valid. There is no public list kept.

Hadou no reason why it would not be valid as long as you can not transfer OEM licenses which they were installed on the original machine.

You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

  • Problems with Windows 7 activation by phone

    Hello

I have re-installed Windows 7 on my computer, no change of equipment except the hard drive repartitioning. I have not activated windows within 30 days. I am trying to activate windows online after installation. I get the message error 0xC004C008. That's why I launched telephone activation.

After entering the installation ID, the phone disconnects. I tried twice with the three figures suggested by the Microsoft - free toll as paying website. But the result is the same.

I stay in India (Bangalore). Can anyone suggest me another way to solve this issue / obtaining the active product?

    Best regards

  • I have an old machine with Windows 2000 with SP 3. How can I get updated so I can get the data on the latest machines?

There also IE5 which I can't seem to update or another. Ideas?

Updated to what? You can copy the data to an external drive and then copy it on your new machine. You will need to reinstall all the programs of original media.

  • Use of IE with Windows and active Internet the FMS server 8.1 requires a username / password

When you use the copied link browser provided on the iOS (http://sandiskxxxxxx.local/files) application settings page I get a standard pop-up browser asking for a username and password.  What should I enter here?  Does not allow an anonymous connection.  I tried the usual stuff, Admin, the UID on my computer, the UID for my router admin, empty string, etc. With all the combinations of passwords, that I am entered for the WFD WPA2, the DDT from the admin of my router and my PC, etc. No luck.  Anyone else understand it?

The user name is 'owner', if requested.

If you have set a password in the security settings in the application, then the password is the password that you configured in the settings, otherwise there is no password.

  • What is my software works with Windows 10

Currently I have a machine with Windows 7 and the other with Windows 8.  What is my software works with Windows 10?

Almost anything that can run on the 7, 8 or 8.1 will work fine on Windows 10 without any problem.

You have the 'Get Windows 10' icon next to your clock?  If so, this tool will scan and let you know if you have any known compatibility issues.

Incompatibility of the printer Epson LQ-680

I got a new machine (with Windows 7, 64-bit operating system).

Earlier I had been using an Epson LQ-680 with a serial cable.

The new machine has a USB port, so I have to use a USB to PS/2 port.

I installed the Energon USB but still cannot print.

I read your post with a lot of attention. There seems to be some confusion on your part. I want to arrempt in order to clarify the information so that a good solution might be found for your needs.

The Epson LQ-680 is a matrix printer with a print head 24 pins. It is designed to use a parallel port. This means that its computer interface conforms to the IEEE 1284 specification. This is often referred to as a Centronics parallel port. Series No.

Thus, because your computer does not have a port for a direct connection, you must use a parallel to USB device.

Not all of these devices are supported printers. Please check the specifications of the device that you use to connect your USB printer and confirm that it supports the printers. It is preferable that it supports bidirectional printing through the device. If it is not the case, getting the arrangements put in place for this printer could be a problem.

    =================

You did not mention whether your machine is a laptop or computer desk/workstration. If the latter, and if she will allow to install PCI cards or PCI-E, install a parallel port card would work more simply.

If you want other help, please let us know the make and model of the parallel to USB device.

  • JRE 8 update 31 on a Machine of Windows 8 'Java-version' does not

    Hi people

I work for a software development company. For the moment, we test Java 8 features with our software and the use of Java 8 in our environment. For installation, we use an automatic installation of the .msi file for 32-bit and 64-bit Version of Java 8.

So far, everything works fine on our test with Java update 31 8 machines. The only thing we noticed is that we had a few mistakes when we were checking the version of java via the console.

For example, when upgrade us a Java 7 to 8 Java machine, we have first of all uninstall Java 7, restart and then install Java 8. After that the process, we receive an error when we execute the command 'java-version '.

Error: The "java" command is not found or is written incorrect (not exactly this error, because we have a German version of windows).

This only happens on machines with windows 8

On a windows 7, we get a correct output:

    C:\ > java-version

    Java version "1.8.0_31".

Java (TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_31 - b13)

Java for 64-bit Server VM (build 25.31 - b07, mixed mode)

We could resolve the problem on a windows machine 8 by adding the java installation directory in the systemvariable "path." Once the 'C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_31\bin' is added, the command returns the correct output.

This work around is not a good option, in my opinion, because I don't want to install some GPO crazy to hardcode the installationdir in the systemvariable. I think that the installer must handle this task for me.

Someone here run into similar problems with java on windows 8 at or someone knows a better way to solve the problem?

    Best regards

    Daniel

Your "workaround" is your solution. The Java installer does NOT change the path. Any change in the path must be carried out by the user.

Another alternative is to create a simple "java.bat" file that is located in a directory that is located on the path.

This batch file can add the entry appropriate to the PATH environment variable and then launch Java.
