• Cannot install Windows Server on the new server Poweredge T110 II 2012

  HI - just took delivery of my new Dell PowerEdge T110 II with two 1 TB drives in RAID 1, but without any operating system installed.  On the Windows Server 2012 Standard edition installation, the installation routine is unable to detect readers when it comes to choosing the installation location.  I can 'find the pilots', but on the insertion of the Dell supplied DVD, it does not find everything.  I changed different settings, rebooted and tried several times without success.  Entering the system at boot configuration screens, I can clearly see my 2 x 931GB disks and the virtual drives installed on them (I even removed the implementation of RAID and the virtual drives at some point to see if that was the problem).  Any help appreciated.  Regards, Barry

  You should have received a disc entitled management of system and Documentation Tools. If you start on this DVD, it takes an option to install an operating system. Follow the on-screen instructions and it should load the required drivers. If this does not work then let me know what RAID controller you have.

  Hi guys,.

  We have a Poweredge R720 I am trying to use imaging software to restore a server that must be upgraded to a Poweredge 2950 server. I've tried Acronis, Paragon HDM 12 and Todo Easus and each of them do not detect hard drives. I have set up the virtual disk with RAID 5. Any suggestions? or is the server too recent to be recognized by this imaging software?

• 2012r2 Server PowerEdge 320 - can't find the drive

  I try to install windows Server 2012r2 to a PowerEdge 320.  The computer has a card mini-310 of PERC with two drives configured in a RAID1 array.  When I get to the disk selection window in the Windows installation, he sees disk 0 Partition 3 as "unused" and size = GB 1840,9.

  When I try select this option to have the target, the Setup program indicates that "we could not create a new partition or find an existing one."  For more information see the installation log files. »

  I tried formatting the partition, which works without error.  Windows still not install to it.

  I looked for a driver to download and nothing found for Windows 2012r2.  There is a driver for 2008r2.

  I have several R220 PowerEdge systems with the same PERC controller.  2012r2 Server installs to them without any problem at all.

  What Miss me?  How can I get Windows Installer on this server?

  What other partitions are listed? You can also try the following steps to activate the partition

  Once the installation program is unable to find the partition, close the settings window (the upper-right-side red X does the job).

  From this point, you should be brought back to the initial Setup screen. Choose 'Repair' then go to the advanced tools and start the command line.

  Run DISKPART.

  Type LIST DISK and identify your number (from 0 to n disks) SSD drive.

  Type SELECT DISK where is your SSD drive number.

  Type OWN

  Type CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY

  Type ACTIVE

  Type FORMAT FS = NTFS QUICK

  Type ASSIGN

  Type of OUTPUT twice (one for out of DiskPart, the other to exit the command line tool)

  Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. The question is, the R520 does not support 2003 as the host operating system. It is possible to install on a virtual machine, but not as a host. You have to go with Server 2008 to have Windows as the host operating system.
