servers excluded due to excessive paging capacity planner

We seek to convert a physical environment to Vmware. We conducted capacity cards and the report excluded 2 servers with the reason "it is excessive paging. One of these servers is Exchange with 4 GB of physical memory. This server is preferable to be virtualized.

What are the causes excessive paging?

How can the server be reconfigured so that it is no longer excessive paging and it will be included for the migration of VM?

What happens if I get me a virtualize this server anyway?

Thanks for any help.

Aero isn't for graphics memory, and you need the graphics hardware installed to use Aero.

With your card, you have a very low-end computer.

Your problem is that you have to little RAM (memory) sp2, 512, 32 with MS security essentials

  • Y at - it update Dell Capacity Planner or similar?

Hello.  I searched for a calculator / planner that will tell me the power requirements of the Dell Poweredge 13 G rack of servers with various configurations.

I found a copy of the DataCenter Capacity Planner to http://www.dell.com/html/us/products/rack_advisor_new/, that looks like exactly what I want, except that it lists only the old servers.

Y at - it a more updated version of this somewhere?  Or he was replaced by another tool?

    Thanks for any help.

(PS. I was going to make this post in the PowerEdge Rack HW forum, but for some reason that I can't create messages in this one).

    Hello.

The tool you are looking for is called the Dell Energy Smart Solution Advisor (ESSA). See the link: www.dell.com/.../config_calculator. You will also find the Data Center Capacity Planner (DCCP) at the bottom of the same page.

  • New material in Capacity Planner

    Hello

Sorry if these are fundamental questions - his age since I used ability cards!

I look at is equipment and ability cards models - but all systems are quite old. Do new systems added automatically or is there and easy way for me to add a? For example, I was hoping to use Lenovo X 3650 servers in my assessment of consolidation, but there is no entry of Lenovo, I see. Even former IBM 3650 x models are not suitable.

No one knows when the capacity planner is updated to include the version 6 of vSphere?

Finally, for the system settings there are three parameters of the disc for a host ESXi - size, speed and i/o speed, what should be? Am I right in assuming that the size is the size of the storage SAN (in my case 40 to), the speed is the speed of connection (in my case 8 GB FC) and the e/s? (No idea). Or am I wrong?

Thanks a lot for your help!

  • Capacity Planner

    Hello

The one you suggest, how can we use Scheduler capability to set the capacity of the ESXi servers for consolidation?

Is this only allowed for partners and vmware?

    Please suggest.

    Concerning

    Mahesh

    Hello Manu,

    Welcome to the community!

Yes, Planner cappacity is allowed only for vmware partners!

Contact vmware or vmware partner! Capacity planner will install on any machine in the network for a month or whatever.

the data will then be uploaded to optimize.vmware.com.

then the VMWare will be comeupp to the requirements.

  • VMware Capacity Planner: Not enough data.

    Dear friends,

I have faced a problem with Vmware Capacity Planner. I get the error message no sufficient data not collected. But I can see nominative colleacted under the name of the company. I can view the files downloaded and processed inventory and performance. In addition, the report tab is not functional.

    Please do not advise.

    Thank you

    Pravesh

CP sends always properly deltas of the inventory of what I have seen in the past.

If you have added servers and they show OK in the report of missing data, then forcing a complete inventory should do the trick. The thing is that you must activate it in the right place. If you do a MANUAL synchronization, you must select the full inventory of strength under modules. If you wait for the next scheduled synchronization, you do it under scheduled tasks.

Ignore the suggestion of proxy. If some of the data is how to get there, then internet proxy settings are correct.

  • Capacity Planner 2.7.2 Linux error

I have Capacity Planner 2.7.2 installed on the customer's site.  It is installed in a virtual VMware 4.1 computer.  I am so he could collect data from performance on 4 hosts ESXi 4.1.  When you try to perform the inventory or the performance on these 4 servers I received the following error message: "the default shell of connection is not supported.  Can someone tell me what is not set correctly?

You cannot monitor ESX host because there is no part of the operating system that is supported. You can use the batch ESXtop mode or vcenter (if you have one) to monitor the performance of your host.

  • Difference between file system capacity and the capacity of the disks in Capacity Planner reports

    Hello

I had to go on my Capacity Planner tool training soon, but I have a question on the front that frustrates me. In the evaluation report that comes out of the tool after the analysis, a use of disc section, which lists all the servers for analysis there. A column of this report is directed to file system capacity, another disk capacity. In all cases, the first is less than the latter. What is the exact meaning of these labels?

Some of the numbers differ substantially between the columns, for example 20 GB for a capacity of 36 GB of disk space for a server and file system. He said that only 20 GB to 36 GB disk is formatted/partitioned to use?

    As previously stated:

Disk capacity is 36 GB - physically, there are 36 GB of storage.

File system is logical capacity - the amount of space used by files on the disks.

File system and the capacity of the disks will never match because fees General table of file.

    I hope this helps.

  • Thresholds of system capacity Planner

I would like to know if there is a way to fix the system for Capacity Planner for reports limits. I know that I can do when creating optimization scenarios but when I run report it sends 83 systems that are not virtualization candidates. I know that these machines are good candidates because I already use a couple in the production. The spec that throws everything off is the pagination (Pgs/sec). By default, Vmware uses 200. People on the forums and my teacher Capacity Planner said that it should be longer as 10 000. Of course if I have a script to optimize these systems and make these changes of paging, systems are then added to the sys column and are removed from the column of exception systems. I need to submit reports on these systems however.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

    Hi Rob,

You can change the threshold of change scenarios that are used for optimization reports.  There are two scenarios and they are marked with *.

To change scenarios, go to analyze = > optimizing food and click the scenario names who wear * before the name.

Follow the wizard until you reach the page "adjust the system thresholds.

Please note that there are two scenarios with * and you must change both of them.

  • Capacity Planner tool query

I have following queries about this tool:

1 can I use several model material for one scenario for example if I need to develop two types of material saying low and high-end and would like to place the result of the VM, is there an available way to achieve this?

    2. If the server under evaluation receive their IP address of the DHCP server and evaluating servers go down during the assessment and it comes back later with diffferent IP how corelate the previous data?

    3. as a follow-up to Question #2, what happens if the IP remains same. It will be able to collect data from the systems being evaluated?

    4. I need to understand the "Averge industry" in detail. What is the basis of filling it and how he is referred to as "Standardized", without providing details.

First of all. My experience of the Capacity Planner tool is old, then you want to dubble some offsets verify what I say.

    1. you must decide what systems are low-end and high-end. Then, you make a scenario using the 'high end' group modeled on high-end hardware. Then, obviosly, the Group of low range on a low-end hardware. To my knowledge there is no way for the Capacity Planner automatically determine what are the high or low end systems and plce on different hardware models.

2 capacity planner will then see that as two different systems, BUT, even if you have a DHCP server based Park (which is not so common actually) server and the server has been down longer the term of the lease to configure the DHCP scope the first thing that the server will ask you when it comes is back the permission to use the last him, called IP address. So if that is not granted to a plaintiff again the server will come with its old IP address in most cases.

    3. Yes

    4. the 'average/standard industrial' is simply statistical. For example if the average of 1000 SQL servers out there shows a specific behavior and your SQL Server performed way differently (uses a lot more resources), then you might want to consider why your implementation is so different. To avoid purchase Super material just to accommodate a messed-up SQL Server when you might be happier with a slower material, or less, if you just set your SQL implementation. That's all.

  • Capacity Planner reports wrong CPU info for Fedora system

    Hello

I do an exercise Capacity Planner for a customer who has two IBM x 3650 servers Fedora Core. These two have 2 dual core Xeon 5160 of Intel processors. • How to stop excessive paging

Hello, I ran a diadnostic of systems and a big prolem I have is that all of the system is excessive computer paging.my always tells me that I have a not enough space on the back of the D drive. I went to the command prompt and ran a scan systems and find that I have corrupted files. How can I stop the excessive paging in the comand promp and in my virtual memory to back up my D drive, I need at least 16 mega bites to increase, but the system does give me that 8 mega bites, why?

    Thank you

    Hello

Click Start > computer > see what size the disks / Partitions are there.

If the D: drive is about 5-15GBs, it's the recovery disk

The recovery discs are imaged on your hard drive during the production of your computer by the manufacturer for all of these reasons.

    1. to reinstall Vista from in the case of a failure of the system, based on individuals or the keys at startup.

F10 or Alt + F10 or F11 are a couple of different manufacturers use sequences.

You will need to ask your manufacturer for proper sequence.

    2. to make the recovery disks on if your drive hard breaks down, so that you can then reinstall the operating system on a new hard drive.

Also ask them how to make records.

Your D: Recovery Drive is should not be used for backups, defragmented, etc..

There are backups on an external hard drive.

To resolve the problems that have arisen with the recovery D: Partition, you will need to contact the manufacturer of your computer to remove all that has been added to it.

    See you soon.

  • I have 8 GB of RAM, but I am having major problems with my pc. Error message when I could actually run diagnostics said system is excessive paging. Help, please.

Have also run the Windows memory diagnostic tool, but system says there is no problem. Have tried everything. Startup Repair is also no problems but there obviously, it is because although the Office seems normal when you can actually get for her, he is immediately frozen and I can't access anything whatsoever files, internet, e-mail. Fortunately, also a laptop so I tried to find help!

    Hello

    • What is the brand and model of your computer?

There are several reasons why you may experience excessive paging.  If you do not have enough RAM to run Vista and all additional progtams, then your computer is using your hard drive as additional or virtual memory. Thus, when the system uses the hard disk as memory, excessive paging that is more.  It is therefore possible, you need to add more RAM to your computer.  If you have less than 2 GB of RAM, you can consider adding more.

Another reason why this might happen is if your computer is infected with a virus that uses system resources.  So to run a full virus, malware, spyware, trojan, scan your computer to make sure that it's clean.

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

  • Problem with Excessive paging

When I run the reliability and performance minitor I saw this WARNING: theee system knows an excessive paging. Hmm, what do I do... need help to help my loptop drip slowly...

    Hello ana03,

There are several reasons why you may be familiar with an excessive paging. If you do not have enough RAM to run Vista as well as additional programs, then your computer uses your extra hard drive as virtual memory.  Thus, when the system uses the hard disk as memory, excessive paging that is more. The hard drive, constituted in memory is much slower then the physical RAM on your system. It is therefore possible, you need to add more RAM to your computer. If you have less than 2 GB of RAM, you might want to consider adding more to your Windows Vista to run smoothly. RAM is the most easy/less expensive way to improve the performance of your system. Also please see below for your system can also be infected by something:

Try to start your system in safe mode:

    1. Restart your computer if it is running.
    2. Press the F8 key after your computer powers initially.
    3. Once you see the menu Advanced Boot Options, you can stop tapping.
    4. Up/down arrow keys to highlight your selection.
    5. Select Mode safe mode with networking and press ENTER.
    6. You should see drivers loading, it may take a few moments.
    7. You should then be at the Welcome screen.
    8. Connect to your computer using an account with administrator privileges.
    9. Now, you download (free) MalwareBytes from here: http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?tag=mncol install, Update then do a scan of your system in safe mode, to ensure that it is indeed clean! Once the scan is done remove anything it finds. Simply restart your PC to see if your problem has been resolved!

Hope this helps you. Let us know anyway. Make it a great day!
