Run the SFC/scannow command. This will check and repair if necessary all of the critical Windows system files.

Click on start / all programs/accessories then
Right-click on the command prompt option and select "Run as Administrator".

What is this error, why this is and how can I solve this problem

I read this from an old thread in this forum.
    Here is the suggested solution...
    Disable the webcam.
Start button > Control Panel > Classic view > Folder Options > view > first entry, check "always show icons never thumbnails" > OK.

Open your Webcam again. The message is passed now?
If so, turn off the webcam.
Back to Folder Options > uncheck the first entry "always show icons never thumbnails".

Open the webcam again. The message comes back?
    If not, problem solved.

  • Windows Service host process has stopped working... online and are looking for a solution

I have a Lenove with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit of the system.  Yesterday I got stuck in a loop while looking for a dog boarding on Google.  I had to do a system shutdown to break out of the loop.  Since then, I get the message: «Host process for Windows services has stopped working...» "Also, I heard the music or script play twice since then and did a reboot to get rid of the problem.  I don't know that it will continue if I do not resolve what has caused the problem initially.  Also, I went into the control panel one checked all the sound icons and they are all OK.

I'd appreciate if someone could give me some instructions on how to solve these problems.  Thank you!!

Click on Start and open the Control Panel
Click on System and select Advanced system settings in the left menu.
    Under performance, click settings.
Click the Data Execution Prevention tab, then enable DEP for all programs and services except those I select.
Select the check box next to the program that you want to turn off DEP for and then click OK.

  • Windows errors 8.1 repeated with 454, 492 event ID and 471

These errors come every 5 seconds, and my use of the disc is always 100% accordingly.

Error 471 is: svchost (1524) SRUJet: impossible to restore operation #9085, on the C:\WINDOWS\system32\SRU\SRUDB.dat database. Error:-1017. All future database updates will be rejected.

492 error is: svchost (1524) SRUJet: the sequence of the log in 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\SRU\' file was interrupted because of a fatal error.  No other updates are possible for the databases that use this sequence of the log file.  Correct the problem and restart or restore from a backup.

Error 454: svchost (1524) SRUJet: database recovery/restore failed with unexpected error - 1017.

The first entry is the 24/02/2014, and there more than 66000 errors, these three repeat.  It's really bad performance of my computer.

No idea how to solve this problem?  I am considering a system restore before this first date, but I don't know if that's when he started or if previous errors have been removed.

    Thank you

    Ryan

    Thank you for your response.

Noting that errors had to do with writing to the database of the SRU, I killed all the processes using the file and then cut and pasted content SRU of the folder on a USB key.  After the computer restarts, I intended to copy their return (assuming that maybe there is a sector of failed disk prevents the process to correctly use the file), but the process in question had already made a new database of the SRU.  I recognize that this could have been a little reckless, but I was getting ready to do a new installation anyway.  This process has completely cured the problem.  I don't know if it will be of no use to the other varieties of this problem that seem to be so common for others.

Anyway, thanks again for getting back to me.

I then try the sfc/scannow command, but it comes up with another error stating that windows resource protection could not start the repair service. I am also unable to find my vista drive. Hello

I would say that you can start your computer in a clean boot State and check if this is related to a software conflict of third.

Note: Follow step 7 to your computer as usual.

If this does not help, I'm afraid, you may need to do the Startup Repair and for that, you need the installation disc.

    IM on Vista Home btw.

Altogether. Yes, you can replace a hard drive in a laptop. If the laptop is still under warranty, contact Dell technical support. If this isn't the case, you can buy a hard drive for the laptop to your favorite online or offline store. I normally buy equipment in NewEgg.com. Of course, you will need to install Windows on your new hard drive. If you do not have a recovery with her media, you need get the Dell disks. After you have installed Windows on your new hard drive, if it was not with a recovery disk, you will need to download/install drivers and utilities from the Dell Web site, update Vista Service Pack 2, do all the Windows updates, install a good antivirus (I recommend ESET NOD32 for a commercial and Avast for a free) restore your data from backup.

If you can't do the work yourself (and there is no shame in admitting this isn't your cup of tea), take the machine to a professional computer repair shop (not your local equivalent of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad).

    Hi Susan Roberts,

    1. you did make changes to your operating system before this problem occur?
    2. updates of Windows or new hardware/software changes?

Closing general troubleshooting: shutdown problems are usually caused by a program or process that won't come out gracefully. The program or process may be against malware, or may be legitimate (for example a pervasive like Norton or McAfee antivirus).

    Method 1:

Start your computer in safe mode and check if the problem persists.

    Reference:

Start your computer in safe mode
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

    Method 2:

If the problem does not happen, I recommend you perform the clean boot.

Put your boot system helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. If so, you need to maybe contact the manufacturer of the program for updates or uninstall and reinstall the program.

See the following article in the Microsoft KB for more information on how to solve a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or Windows 7:
