  Yes you are right,

  but I would suggest to stop the services first before you do the activity, it can take the old password in a few times and lock the conduit to account

  2. once the password is updated, make sure that the login account is updated (is currently running services on the specified user account or local account?)

  If it runs using the specified account, you will need to updated and restart the services.

  3. make sure that the services are running fine and observe for a while, the user account must not get locked.

  I tried all listed in other postings, but our VSphere 4 server resides on a SQL server server.

  I tested the connection odbc with the SA password and it works, it rebooted several times now, tried to stop all services and bringing up one at a time, but whenever a dependency is not. I get this error in the system log, the VMware VirtualCenter Server service stopped with the error service special 2 (0x2).

  Having problems when you try to start the service described above.  I get the following error message when you try:

  Got it up and running again.  I had to restart the VCenter Single Sign On service before trying to start the VC Server service.

  This is your on your VCDB (Virtual Center Database).  Talk to your DBA and let him look at the logs of transactions for the DB instance in question.

  I'm having a problem with my server vCenter 4.0. Less than an hour of a reboot, the VMware VirtualCenter Server service stops. If I restart it... It works for about an hour, then stops again. The following event is logged in the system event log. The VMware VirtualCenter Server service stopped with the error service special 2 (0x2).

  I'm SQL2005 Express is using a virtual machine, windows 2003 Std, 1vCPU, 4 Gb RAM Tomcat and SQL use a lot of memory.

  It is a similar problem to the responces you find on google - but not the same thing. My service will stop about an hour after a reboot clean and efficient.

  So yes, you have exceeded your environment.  Still doesn't tell me if you looked at the SQL Express newspapers, because I'm sure that's the problem.

  I have a setup of client 4.0 Vsphere (Build # 162856) and I was managing the host ESX 4.0 (Build # 148592) for the past three months.

  All of a sudden, I couldn't connect to the Client. It throws the following error 'vShpere Server couldnot connect with vSphere client' connection failure occurred.

  It is said in the event log system "VMware VirtualCenter Server ended unexpectedly. He did this 100 times. The following corrective action will be taken in

  "300000 milliseconds: restart the service.

  By default, vcenter services does not run. so I started the services and tried to connect the vsphere client. But vCenter service stops immediately.

  Note: I tried to restart the services Server (SQLEXPRESS) of SQL and SQL EXP_VIM aswell. but nothing helped.

  How do I solve this problem? any help would be much appreciated.

  PS: Found another thread with the same problem but with the Oracle DB. accepting myself as a beginner in the DB area, help step by step approach would be strongly encouraged.

  But sometimes, SQL Server can not have set autogrow on for its databases. Please configure your file of SQL server (for the VC database) database and its log file to enable automatic growth.

  Oracle is a good database for installing vCenter? What are the best practices related to Oracle hosting a metadata DB vCenter?

  I am only able to find best practices and tweaking SQL tips we do not have a strong environment of SQL and Oracle is relative to a highly available environment so that is recommended by the corporate security team and the team of DB

  Have you checked if there is disk space available on the DB server?

  Have you made changes to the VC or DB?

  What does the vpxd.log show?

  I've recently updated my domaincontrollers to R2 2012 WIndows, and I installed vCenter on a vm through the ovf appliance. After you have configured the vCenter in the web gui, I can join the domain successfully and the virtual center appears in the field. After a restart of the virtualcenter, I'm not able to find the field in the client to vcenter under permissions. (version vCenter: VMware-vCenter-Server-Appliance-5.5.0.5101-1398493)

  "Domain administrator" and "Enterprise administrator" are roles in Active Directory. It's not what I mean.

• VirtualCenter Server DBs on remote SQL Server

  Guys,

  I use VirtualCenter Server with a remote server of SQL2005 DB.  I initially set up with a domain account as the owner of the db and everything was pretty much ok, except that my VirtualCenter management Services continues to stop.  I was told that the best practice is to use local sql accounts and authentication as opposed to domain accounts.  I created connections local SQL, makes them owners of DB and then recreated the system DSN names on my server of VC.  I changed the log on credentials for the VC and VC management Web services for my domain account for the Local System account.  Now when I start the service I get the "Virtualcenter Server service stopped with the error service special 2 (0x2).»  I have cheked other messages and I made sure the Vmware converter service does not work.  IIS in is not installed on this server.  I saw the messages about failure fo the local system account to log on to a remote sql server.

  So my question is:

  If the VCDB abd UMDBs are on another SQL Server on the VC server do you need authentication based on the domain or local sql?  What references do service accounts must be defined on the VC Server?

  If VC and SQL reside on a single box, a domain account is recommended. If SQL is remote, it is recommended the SQL authentication, see Installation and Configuration Guide. This has always worked for me.
