  Sometimes the icon simply does not appear due to a start along with many other process resources and the part of MSE to load the icon to not load damage. If you can open MSE and it signals that all is good, it's probably what happened. Sometimes rebooting resolves it.

  My computer, one almost four years, Dell Inspiron 1454 with Windows XP Pro, continues to freeze when left to sit for a few minutes. I use the computer during a run without problem, but if I have a cup of coffee, for example, I have to restart when I return. Sometimes, the slider moves, sometimes not, but no matter the computer is unresponsive after that I took a break or just out of the blue when I try to open an e-mail or another task.
