Set up a printer on a network

In my network, there are about 75 computers and 7 printers. 5 printers are shared so you can search when adding a printer and they appear. The other 2 are color printers only we have and that you are connected to the computer of managers. I have full administrative rights being the computer scientist in this company. I know its possible to print from my computer to the color printer, but I have problems of implementation. I know the name of the computer that the printer is connected to and also I printed the configuration print the printer. Anyone have any suggestions on how to connect to the printer?

Thanks in advance

  • OfficeJet 5740: Install a printer on a network of schools wireless

    Hello

I started school this past week and I brought an Officejet 5740 to implement in my dorm, but I had trouble getting it set up. MY laptop is on the network "(University)", but I was tasked to set up the printer on a network called "Device-(University)" and would continue to operate. I have registered my printer on the network "Device-(University)" also using its MAC address, which I was told was also necessary. After all that, I'm still not able to print wireless. I tried to restart the printer, reset the network settings and remove all software printer on my computer and starting from scratch, but nothing has worked.

If someone has encountered this problem, and if so, is anyone know a solution?

    Thank you!

    Hello

You can also connect to the printer using the WiFi Direct connection.

This type of connection (Wifi Direct) connects your camera/laptop Wifi directly on your printer and requires no Wifi router and is the best way that I would use as LONG as I didn't need to keep connecting to the Wifi network router for surfing.

Also remember to reconnect to your network of WIFI router to get internet connection after printing.

The password to connect to your Wifi Direct printer is in the display on the front panel of the printer, or you must print it with the WIFi button for 3 sec.

    I hope this helps.

  • Comments of print with extreme network and printer HP Envy 4520

Project night and I have people coming. My comments and personal networks are set up. I have an extreme Airpot and a range of printers HP 4520. Is there a way that my guests and I can print from here. Other then to move networks back on my printer? I tell myself that I'm asking here before I ask HP. I seem to get better answers here. Thanks for any idea!

Users connected to the network 'Guest' cannot 'see' all devices in the 'hand' or 'private '.  Only "see you" each other and connect to the Internet.

Same thing for users on the hand, or a private network.

If you want a user on the network to be able to print, then you will need to install a printer wireless network reviews.

If users on the main network and the guest network printing, then you need a printer for each network.

A Dingo workaround solution would be to ask him to send you an email with an attachment that you can print and give back their.

  • Is it possible to set up a printer wireless without the USB cable?

    Hello

I have a HP Photosmart C4580 and I wanted to set up to run on a network, but I don't have a USB cable. I tried to install it without one, but it does not appear on the network, and I was wondering if you really need a USB cable to install it?

    Thank you.

    1. turn Radio on wireless to the printer.

    2. on your computer, search for all available wireless networks. You should find a named "hpsetup". Go ahead and connect to this network and ignore all warnings.

    3. wait 1 minute after have connected you to the network. Then, print a network of the printer Configuration Page. It should list an IP beginning with 169.254.x.x.

    4. type this address in the address bar of any web browser. You will reach the Embedded Server (EWS) Web of the printer.

5 use the Wireless\Networking tab at the top and looking for an option to ' 802.11 wireless networks. On this page, you will be able to enter your network settings wireless (screenshot attached to facilitate their identification).

    6. make sure that you change the SSID for your network name. Click on the option button 'Infrastructure' and enter your WEP\WPA pasphrase. ENTER THE SSID AND PASSWORD EXACTLY AS IT IS, OR IT CANNOT CONNECT TO THE NETWORK.

    7. click on the button to apply and wait for the confirmation of the parameters being recorded.

8 restart the printer. Once again the Config network printer page. Now, it must have a such IP assigned by your router and not with 169.254.x.x.

  • Re: Error Message When you try to print to a network printer

I just bought the new laptop, and when I try to print to a network printer (one that I always printed at front), I get a message: "The Active Directory Domain Services is currently unavailable" - I can't add a network printer at all! Help!

Is there a setting I need to change to be able to add network printers?

I think you should contact your local administrator and let him install this network printer. He knows how to install the correct driver and how to find the location of the printer.

  • Computer will not connect to the printer over the network. How can I configure the fax as well?

I'm new here and just beyond frustrated trying to get this to work for my office.

My other printer works by USB because my computer give me a warning throughout the day that the USB is corrupted. Anyway, I got a new printer and I am trying to connect through the network. My iPhone prints through it. My computer OS is Windows 7 64 bit.

My printer is HP Officejet Pro 8600 all-in-one

I want to connect from the network, and I want to set up the fax. My phone does not work when I plug the line in the printer then phone ext line into my phone.

I'm confused! Help someone! Please, I beg you!

    Hi ahagereo,

To connect the printer to your network, follow the steps outlined in the document below.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02886889

Fax: Make sure you have the telephone line connected to the port of line 1 to the back of the printer.

  • Deskjet 6988 printer to wireless network (laptop Envy w / Windows 8.1)

I got my printer HP Deskjet 6988 years and still it was connected to my desktop via a USB 2.0 cable. I bought a laptop HP Envy with Windows 8.1 and want to connect the printer through my servant/Belkin router network, as the USB 2.0 cable provided with the printer does not seem to work in the USB ports of the desire for direct printing. The software disk did not work in the laptop, so I downloaded the software and utility software (printing and scanning) to 8.1 on the HP site.

I ran the download, the installation wizard has started, said "the wizard will connect to the internet and help install the best software available for your printer." I clicked on next, and opens a window "Device discovery" and then an another "recovering the device" then... nothing.  The wizard window closes. My installation manual is useless. It tells me to use the wizard on the software disk that does not work on my laptop (and is obsolete and for the operating system still wrong, because it was for my office, which took place on VIsta.)

I somehow managed to get the printer installed on the laptop - I can see it under the available printers.  And if I have an ethernet cable connected directly from the printer to my router, it will print. But if I unplug the ethernet cable, it will not print. I can't keep the ethernet cable is connected for printing, because the router is in my living room, behind the TV and my office is on the floor. I prefer not to keep my printer on the floor of the living room by our TV, so I really need to work wireless!

My problem is how to make the printer added to my network (Belkin router) servant. The wireless router is all set up and functional - I use actually it from now to access the internet and to post this message.

So, my printer is installed on my laptop. The driver is the most recent, intalled today HP.com and I don't have a software disc to use for a Setup Wizard.

What are the next steps to connect my printer on the network, so I can print wireless? If all goes well, I gave enough information. I have read all sections of the HP.com customer help on service and none of them seem to tell me what to do.

    Thank you!

By a lot of trial and error, I actually thought about it myself. I did a lot of jumping around, so I hope that I can remember what I did:

    (1) install the printer driver using the diskette or download.

    (2) connect the printer to the router by an ethernet cable, which looks like a big phone cord (no need to connect the printer to your laptop).
    3) implement the system of the laptop 'search' on your laptop and in search type "Network" and then click on the 'Network' link to open it.

    (4) you should see the icon for the printer on your computers and other devices already present on the network.

    (5) double click/tap on the icon of the printer and it will open 'web page' the printer in your browser.

    (6) click / tap the 'Network' tab near the top of the scren.

    (7) in the left sidebar, under 'Connections', click 'Wireless' to open it.

    (8) start and use the wizard to enter your router information. (You must specify the printer a different name here, so you can distinguish it from all other printers on your laptop.) For example, I named mine "Deskjet" 6988 Network)

    (9) unplug the power cord of the printer ethernet.

    (10) If your wireless printer does not appear in the list of printers when you go to print something, you'll need to add:

    11) open looking for new portable computer system and type "Devices and printers" and click / tap on the link.

    12) click on the link "Add a printer" upward. The computer will search for printers and the new network printer should appear in the list (hint: he wil have an IP address in the 'Address' column rather than a file.)

    (13) add the network printer and run the test to ensure that it works. Make your default printer and may delete all other 6988 printers listed if you want to.

    (14) you should now see your network printer in the printer list when you go to print something.

I hope this helps someone else someday!

  • LaserJet M1212nf: Problems setting up wireless printing

I can set up to print from my laptop with a USB connection to the printer. I want to be able to print when away from my office, so have tried for 2 years, on and off, to get my printer to print wireless. I spent probably 10 + hours trying to get this set up. In the end, I always end up having to reinstall the printer with the same old USB connection.

It drives me crazy. I'm a tech writer for a society of software and very savvy in computer science. However, my non-techie family have all managed to set up wireless printing at their home in 5 minutes or less with different brands of printers.

Here are the steps that I followed, although I also tried many variations, like trying with my USB cable connected or disconnected.

    (1) uninstall the current installation of the printer (USB).

    (2) on the printer itself, make sure that the settings > network settings are the default values.

    (3) using the latest drivers and installation .exe from the HP site, start a new installation of the printer.

    (4) when you are prompted, select "wireless."

RESULT: even if my firewall is turned OFF, search and indicates that he is there any printer on the network. (Huh? Which network?)

    (5) try again once and this time select "Network Setup."

RESULT: even if my firewall is turned OFF, search and says that it cannot detect a network.

If the wireless installation requires a network, but network installation does not cause a network to install, I don't know where to go from here.

    (6) I also tried downloading and installing the ePrint utility, but when I'm at halfway through the installation, it tells me that it cannot find my printer.

I am suspicious that my model M1212nf MFP may even not allow for wireless printing. Some info on the HP site says to check a particular button lights up to indicate that the printer is online. This light does not exist on my printer model. However, the parameters of the printer from my physics has parameters such as: "show IP address," etc., which would lead me to believe that it can work wireless.

I have read all the help related HP printer, and there is nothing which explains, in simple language, what are the types of cables, I need to set up a network and the Wi - Fi connection, when to plug them in, what facilities to perform on the many Add - ons available, etc.. I don't know that it's a 5 minute process if there was just a good explanation in the help of the UP of how do. Assistance would be appreciated!

    Hello @SKYdiz,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I understand that you have had problems for the last 2 years and spent many hours trying to configure your HP LaserJet Pro M1212nf MFP for wireless printing. At this point I'll provide more information about it. First of all, are sitting you?

Unfortunately, the HP LaserJet Pro M1212nf multifunction printer isn't a model wireless printer. The "nf" at the end of the name of the printer is the abbreviation of 'network, fax. Therefore, if your printer is not able to connect to your router wireless, it CAN connect with an ethernet cable.

All you need to do is connect an ethernet cable to the back of your printer to your router. That all devices connected to this router even (whether through wireless or wired ethernet connections) would be able to 'see' your printer on the network and print it on your printer. For more information on configuring ethernet on your printer, please visit: Setup the printer to a wired network in Windows 7 for HP's LaserJet printers.

Now, if an ethernet connection does not work in your specific network, HP makes other Laserjet models that do not use the wireless function. Here are two LaserJet who are black only, multifunction wireless units that resemble your current printer model: HP LaserJet MFP HP LaserJet MFP M225dw Pro and M127fw Pro.

Please let me know if this clears up any confusion. If you have other questions or concerns, I'll be more than happy to help you. Happy new year!

  • Cannot set the default printer.

I'm having a problem with one of the users on my setup of server companies. She is unable to set a default printer and cannot print from Excel 2010 to all. However, while on the terminal even when I login as administrator, everything works perfectly. I tried to set a default value manually through the registry, I tried all of the scripts that I can find, I tried to uninstall and reinstall the printers. I don't know where to go from here. Any advice?

    It's a 2003 server.
    The terminal is running XP.
    Printers are all non-local network.
However, the result is the same for a local printer.

  • HP LaserJet Pro MFP M125-M126: cannot set the default printer

    Hello

We have HP LaserJet Pro M125 - M126 PCLmS network MFP all in one printer, as the installation of all users was a success and was working fine the day of installation, after a day all users face the question cannot set default pritner, cannot print, all users are faced with question at a time ,

    quick response is appreciated,

    Hi @darshan9 ,

I see that you have problems affecting the default printer for users and you cannot print over the network.
    I'd love to help you.

Do you mean the configuration of individual computers with the printer on the network users, or a computer with multiple users?

You have administrative rights on the computer to make changes?

What is the name and the product number of your printer? How can I find my model number or product number?

Download and run the Print and Scan doctor. It will diagnose the problem and could solve it automatically. http://www.hp.com/go/tools > using HP diagnostic tools for printers under Windows HP.

I suggest you to check if you have another account user or an administrative account.

I also suggest to create a new user account and check if you are able to set the default printer.

Create a user account. Create a user account.

If you're still having problems, run the Fixit tool. Diagnose and automatically fix problems printing and printer.

What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor? (she print or scan, error messages)

If there is anything else I can help you, let me know.

    Good day!
    Thank you.

  • Cannot get LaserJet M175nw print in a network

I just installed a new 100 Pro M175nw LaserJet printer on my network. However, I am unable to print over the network.

    • The printer is connected to an ethernet cable and configured with a static IP address on the network
    • I use a Windows 7 computer for printing
    • All of the internal functions of the printer work properly for example copy, reports
    • Printers when connected via USB to a computer

When you use the printer over the network:

    • Digitization of works correctly
    • The integrated mangement of the printer web page works correctly
    • HP Print & Scan Doctor diagnostic tests give the configuration all green ticks
    • Print jobs stay in the queue until they change to an error state.
    • The printer does not recognize the print job at all - no progress message indicating the print on the console document
    • If the printer is in mode 'sleep' it doesn't wake up
    • Print test pages from the installer of HP, the Windows printer properties dialog box, Acrobat Reader and MS Word all fail.
    • All the symptoms remain the same when I turn off the Windows Firewall
    • An another HP LaserJet 2605dn printer on the network will print correctly on a different IP address, but also using the raw format on port 9100.
    • I removed all the drivers for other HP printers in case there was a conflict - no change after you have reinstalled the software.

Can anyone suggest what I might have forgotten?  Thanks for your help.

    Problem solved.

    Critical steps seem to be:

    • I used the printer management web page (Networking / advanced) to "restore all network settings to their factory default values.
    • I then used the printer console to set the desired TCP/IP configuration - static IP, subnet mask, default gateway. No other changes.
    • The printer then worked correctly.
    • Later, I put the hostname and disabled all network services that I did not - like IPv6, Hello - and the printer continued to work properly.

The configuration of end result is identical to what I had until I can see - but it works now.

Thanks for your suggestions along the way.

  • problem with printing on wireless network

    Hello. I have a HP psc 2410 all-in-one printer.

I recently bought a modem router that has a function called "print server" and I decided to use this feature and print via wifi. I put it to the top, but with a problem. When I print something, for example, test page, instead of printing a page, it will print 'test page' on 3 pages (something like partial pages and the last = third page is printed without understanding) and then it freezes (the printer display says 'printing' and I have to cancel the job, otherwise it crashes and I have to reconnect it). I have this problem, not only in the test page but at least IE, office, PDF files. This concerns mainly the Wifi, since if I connect the printer directly to the PC or laptop via usb, it works quite well. also I tried printing with different laptops with wifi but no go. Here is more information that I have forget:

    (1) router is WPA - PSK encryption type.

    (2) there is no mac filtering or hide SSID passes.

    (3) a laptop and an iPad is connected to the router via wifi and a PC which is connected by a LAN cable.

    (4) the IP address of the printer, this is the same as the IP for the router settings page. (192.168.0.1)

    (5) I can't open the printer's internal web page by entering the IP address of the printer in the browser, since it is the same as the IP address of the router.

    (6) firewall on my computer (windows 7 32-bit) laptop is turned off and I don't use any anti-virus.

    (7) I tried PHYSICIAN analysis AND HP Print, but he says that the printer is OK.

    Thank you

    Leland

EDIT: after studying for hours, I finally managed to get rid of the problem of gel. now, there is just one problem of this partial impression that happens by chance on wifi! I mean, it happens sometimes and sometimes not.

any suggestions? I would really appreciate it

The background is that this printer has no way to connect more than a straight USB connection.   In order to make wireless you have a device that will give him a network IP address.  The printer itself is unable to do this.

The only way to get this printer on a network is to buy a SEPARATE USB print server.   Or, buy a router separate, as I said, that has a USB connection on the back which will have supported printers.

You can not connect as you wish as it stands right now.

However, call your ISP and have them set up IF their gateway device has a USB connection and really can support a printer.  That's their problem.

  • "set as default printer" is not an option

My default printer some how was chosen as OneNote 2007.  I tried to change my default printer to the one I want, but it won't allow me.  I clicked on the printer that I want to and it gives me an accurate list options but not "set as default printer".  Please help me fix this because I can't print until this problem is corrected.

Try right click on the printer you want to sometimes - it seems there are two menus and it seems random as it appears.  One contains the option, the other does not.  Try several times - and then set it aside and try again.  I think at some point, you will get the correct menu and be able to make the change.

In the meantime, certainlly you can print.  Just use the file / print option where you select the printer and choose the one you want to print on (you cannot use the "print" button, but you will still be able to print).

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • How to connect the Officejet Pro 8100 printer to wireless network

Bought a "nine" Officejet Pro 8100 and want to use via my wireless network. The CD supplied with the printer is obsolete. Updated Apple software but can't see how to connect the printer to the network. Getting Started Guide is no help on this issue. Searched for support without result pages. Utility HP does not provide a method to set up a wireless feature. Find all the instructions, I say first of all make sure that the printer is connected to the wireless network, and that's what I can't find out how. What I forget?

Finally, I called HP hotline for help and was rescued. It turns out that Apple's software update software includes all the required components. The software from the HP Web site is no longer available. It's frustrating to see the Getting Started Guide refer frequently to the HP installation wizard and be unable to locate it. Once the wizard tech took control of my computer and installed the necessary software, it was a breeze!

I also note that compose the support number to talk with a guy was rather brief: between 1 and 2 minutes, I recall. Although there was a menu of the phone, it was not a large (unlike the attempt labyrinthine and often circular to locate the online help).

Insofar as HP knows the necessary software in not available via software update or directly from HP, wouldn't make sense to inform buyers, as well as how to access? At least do not place meaningless, useless on the Web site links that lead into oblivion and frustration!

Although I did appreciate the journey, I finally arrive at my destination. Thanks to Aris, HP technician. You are exceptional!
