Computer will not connect to the printer over the network. How can I configure the fax as well?

I'm new here and just beyond frustrated trying to get this to work for my office.

My other printer works by USB because my computer give me a warning throughout the day that the USB is corrupted. Anyway, I got a new printer and I am trying to connect through the network. My iPhone prints through it. My computer OS is Windows 7 64 bit.

My printer is HP Officejet Pro 8600 all-in-one

I want to connect from the network, and I want to set up the fax. My phone does not work when I plug the line in the printer then phone ext line into my phone.

I'm confused! Help someone! Please, I beg you!

The zero configuration utility works very well. But it is a desktop computer and on cable. All other wired and wireless PC in the office is working well, then it's definitely this PC. He came out of nowhere, I install a network printer on the PC but that's all.

Your messages are a bit terse, but if I understand correctly

    • You have a router connected to the Internet and multiple computers connected to the router, some Ethernet cable and others by wireless.
    • All but one of these computers can reach successfully from the Internet via the router.
    • A computer that can't browse the Internet is connected to the router via an Ethernet cable.
    • You disconnected the cable between the router and the desktop problem and connected it to a Windows 7 laptop and the laptop connected to the Internet via the router.
    • You haven't seen any error message (except, perhaps, a message on "Limited or no connectivity").
    • You have installed Windows XP Service Pack 3 (or at least Service Pack 2)

Assuming that all the foregoing is an accurate summary of the situation, I suggest that you do the following:

Open a command prompt window (start > run > cmd > OK)
Type the following lines and press ENTER after each line

    Netsh reset winsock catalog
    netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt

Close the command prompt window and restart the computer.

I worked on the Web site of our Church and all of a sudden this week, my computer does not connect to the site. I get a message saying that the connection to the server was reset while the page is loading. Can anyone has any ideas on how I fix?

The error message "the connection was reset" can be caused by a bug for the attack of the BEAST fix (browser exploit against SSL/TLS) that the server does not support.

  • While trying to install a Linksys E1500 he repeats that my computer is not connected to the router.

    Computer problems and the router

I have a windows xp 2002 with service Pack 3. While trying to install a Linksys E1500 he repeats that my computer is not connected to the router. Ive tried a new cable and it does not solve the problem. He also said that my computer does not have wireless capabilities. Any suggestions?

You'll be much more likely to get useful (or even possible) suggestions if you provide the full text of the error messages you get, without paraphrasing.

    For example:

He repeated to me that my computer is not connected to the router. --> What is the real error message?

He also said that my computer lacks wireless capabilities--> what is the error message itself?

You are "trying to connect via a cable" to the router or you're talking about your Internet service (for example, the router is connected to the Internet via a cable)?

You think that your computer has "wireless capabilities?  Open the Device Manager (start > run > devmgmt.msc > OK), then click on the + sign next to "network adapters."  Please provide the names of any devices listed there.

Is your computer without a name, a laptop?  There a name of brand anywhere (for example, Toshiba, HP, Dell, etc.)?

Open System Properties (start > run > msinfo32 > OK)
    Click Edit > select all
    Click Edit > copy
Right-click in your response here and select Paste
Be sure to hide the "System name" or "User Name" if it makes you feel better, but please do not remove anything else.

loaded vista on my computer - now computer will not start without the disc

Went into my bios as suggested to check the boot order - and, Yes, I got HDD1 as first boot then CD - but then I remembered something I had seen earlier on my computer - it was on the list the HD which had my system like HDD0 files - so, I checked and there it was - listed option HDD0 so I changed HDD1 of HDD0 and was able to boot my computer without the disk system.  Hope this helps someone else with the same prob.
