Several external screens with Dell Precision M4700

I just got a M4700 of precision with 8 64-bit Windows and graphics of AMD over-pants M4000. According to the Dell site and other articles I read, in addition to the built-in screen of the laptop, I should be able to connect to two other screens without the docking station or five other screens with a docking station. However, until now I couldn't get an external display to work even if I use the docking station. If I use certain ports, I can get two external displays to work, but only if I disable the built-in screen.

Without the base, the laptop has a HDMI, a VGA, and a DisplayPort. I tried to connect my two external monitors to these ports in all possible combinations. Whenever I connect the external second monitor it is detected in the 'Screen Resolution' windows dialog but default to disabled. If I try to turn on the display, then click 'Apply' then I get this message:

"The display settings could not be saved. Please try another combination of display settings. »

After that first of all, I got this problem with the default drivers preinstalled by Dell, I tried updating to the latest driver available on the AMD website and I always get the same question.

Any ideas are much appreciated.

I solved the problem. AMD Eyefinity cards require that you are using DisplayPort but it supports up to two "legacy" displays (DVI, VGA, etc.). The built-in computer screen is considered a single existing screen, it allows only to another non - DP monitor. I was using DisplayPort but I connect to a DVI monitor using a PASSIVE adapter. If the adapter is passive then the video card output still a DVI signal and causing count her among the existing views. I had two ACTIVE DP to DVI converters and now I have three monitors + built-in screen and it works fine.

  • Dell Precision M4700 (Windows 7 pro) starts not once configured with UEFI and Secure Boot

To all those who can help you:

I got a Dell Precision M4700 and I update bios A05. I was intending to move to Windows 8. Everything was fine and the bios update was successful. I started the new bios under Windows 7 Professional (base OS) factory-installed and was very good.

However, I can't get into the bios (not even see the POST from Dell or Logo) after I activate the UEFI and Secure Boot. This before I update to Windows 8 Pro. Now I'm stuck with a blank screen (same LCD not lit) and nothing to start. It's like a dead PC.

Help, please. Is that what I can do or should I contact Dell Support for repair?

    Thank you

I fixed it!  Just removed the CMOS battery, the BIOS got reset back to factory default.  So I did:

    (1) remove the battery

    (2) press the power button to the case of ground

    (3) remove the lower panel

    (4) disconnect the CMOS battery (it's tedious)

    (5) I hit the power button for some time (30 s) to clear the capacitors or something else, it was my theory, but I doubt it's necessary

    (6) use it to all back to the start

When I turned it on it turns on and turns off several times before finally stay standing and I was then able to enter the BIOS and all the settings have been restored to factory default.  I am new to Windows 7 on my machine so I'll repeat the process, this time without disabling the legacy option roms!

  • Latitude E7470 external screens with Dock problems

    Hello

I have a Latitude E7470 for work and when I started to use it with my docking station for external monitors, I was noticed a similar problem as grew up in the thread below. One of my two external monitors would be (seemingly at random) twinkle time or periodically to a point where he was distracted. In addition, I see the graphics card down several times after the publication of this kind of problems.

I implemented the "fix" that has been bound (and marked as the answer to the thread) over lunch a week ago, and more things are unhinged from there. Basically, I'm at this point cannot connect to all external monitors through the docking station. I resorted to having one monitor connected via HDMI, but hardly conducive to the work environment and I would really like my monitor Setup several back (even with the problem of flashing, at least).

Is it possible to undo the actions that I ran, or is there a fix more up-to-date for this problem?

    Link to the "difficulty":

Any response and advice would be greatly appreciated. I really do not have to resort to obtaining a different style docking station (USB 3.0) if I can help.

  • How to use the external screen with my Satellite M30?

Hi guys, I have the following problem:

I have a portable Satellite M30-642 former. My keyboard it is completely broken (spilled something on it) so I use an external USB keyboard.

Now that I bought a TFT I wanted to use it as a primary device, so I need to take the laptop to the external output.
The laptop itself recognizes as a secondary screen already, but this isn't what I want.
Problem is I can't switch from the display without the FN key devices!

I tried to search the net and this forum - but the solution posted does not work for the M30. There is no option in the utility of HW and not in the BIOS to enable the external keyboard support.
Please is there any other combination of keys that would work or a software utility that allows me to turn on? It's a really bad situation for me :(

    All solutions anyone? :(

    Greetings and thanks in advance

    Hello

Please don't be crazy on me but I write here very often and somehow try to help, but I'm still irritated if someone thinks that anything is possible. Unfortunately, you have to accept that sometimes there is hardware limitation and there is nothing to do.
I want to talk about primary and secondary monitor.

On most laptops, the LCD is always set as primary and cannot be changed. So, as far as I know, without using the FN + F5 key combination you extend the desktop to external display and use both of them. Using display settings you should be able to switch to an external display only (display control panel settings NVIDIA advance settings and so on). Please test only because I don't have M30, but the principle is used the same.

If you will be able to use external display only try to restart your laptop and see on which screen the office will be shown. If you will be lucky and office will be shown on the external display, try to extend the desktop to second monitor (laptop LCD).

  • Precision M4700 and IDT Audio Driver (Windows 8 x 64)

    Hello

I have a problem with my new Dell Precision M4700 with Windows 8 x 64.

I can not install audio driver IDT high definition. During the installation, I get the error message 'the hardware found is not supported by this package IDT', or if I try to use the manual installation, I get the message "unable to install the driver. A device is not active ".»

I think that the audio device is disabled, but don't know where to check.

    Thanks for any help.

    OK, I found the problem.

    Now Audio work perfectly.

The problem was related to the pilot HDAudBus (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE-SYSTEM-CurrentControlSet-Services------HDAudBus) which was fixed with the start (REG_DWORD) 0 x 4 (disabled). Set to 0 x 3 and rebooting, everything has been implemented.

    Thank you all.

  • A4 and A5 extern screen resulution

Im looking to buy a Toshiba tecra A5-145 or A4-205, both radeon x 600. I wonder if anyone has any experience in the use of these (or simular tecnicaly) fitted with an external screen with the resulolution 1050 x 1680. I spoke with the Toshiba helpline I Sweden but they could not give an exact answer in regarding whether it would be possible or not.

    Hello

The Tecra A5 supports an expanded display of 800 x 600 at 2048 x 1536 resolution. But these values are a function of the external display and the refresh rate. The detailed information you will find in the user manual you can find on the Toshiba site.
    Found in Appendix B.

    Tecra A4 supports a display extended from 800 x 600 to 2048 x 1536 resolution.
See also the manual for the specific values.

  • If I want to use an external monitor of ranking on dell precision 5000 or Hp zbook (equipped both of usb3 and thunderbolt 3) this piece of harware would work with SG?

If I want to use an external monitor of ranking on dell precision 5000 or Hp zbook (equipped both of usb3 and thunderbolt 3) this piece of harware would work with SG? My monitor is a scientist of Flanders HDSDI LM-2460W. I know blackmagic has a few options but the last time I checked, he has not worked with SG. Anyone know?

I think Sg works more easily with an output of your video card... I run two monitors style DVI outputs, but he could use the HDMI connections too I think. The tab Setup (wrench) go you and activate a second monitor and... it's a unique method instead... use the lines where she asks location information to 'say' Sg where the upper-left pixel of your second monitor (program or viewing) is your monitor 'system '.

I had two 1920 x 1080 monitors, stacked vertically, OS/UI on the bottom, "programs" or reading on the upper monitor.

So, this upper-left pixel of my 2nd monitor is a negative number for 'up' and zero to indicate the two pixels top left "even".

It is-1080 for the "vertical" number... it's the height of my 2nd screen and it is negative, because it is above the main screen.

It is 0 for the horizontal number. Yes, they are stacked.

Now, if I had a monitor/program play to the left of my OS/UI screen, it would be...

    Vertical number 0, as relatively, they have the same 'height ';

Horizontal number of-1920, that reading is on the left.

Reading right... Vertical would be 0 and horizontal a positive number of 1920 (width of the primary monitor).

  • x 8 connection distance MXI causes conflicts with my on my Dell Precision T3600 PCI slot

    Hi all

The easiest to say is that I am migrating from a x 4 MXI explicit connection to an x 8 MXI express connection and when I do I get an error on the motherboard which is unable to load the single PCI slot.

Error in WIn7 64 bit Device Manager reports a yellow exclamation point

    Device "Intel (r) 82801 PCI Bridge - 244 properties"

The error listed in the device status box: "this device does not work properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31) »

Unfortunately, I need this slot machine to run a card calendar to conjucton with PXI hardware. There is no anomaly when I used the x 4 connections with virtually the same loadout except for one Exchange a PXI-5122 (x 4 config) to SMU 5122 (x 8 config).

If I leave the MXI PCIe card in but do not connect to chassis PCI slot SMU (and the fine card appear.)

If I remove the PCI card into the slot, the error still occurs.

I swapped the x 8 card and NVidia graphics card without success (the 16 x only two slots).

I photographed the reader and removed the H310 Dell PERC RAID card and charged the RAID array RAID integrated Intel C600 and still no change.

I have updated BIOS to A07 to latest A08.

I updated the Intel Chipset at the latest on the Dell Web site.

I guess that I just wonder at this point if someone is able to run a x 8 MXI express at SMU with a Dell Precision T3600, T5600 or a T7600 chassis.

NI MAX report is attached as a text file.

After much work by NI Applications Engineer Kyle K, this problem has been resolved.

I'll post the solution to this PC dependent problem here, just in case it will help others in a similar situation.

It seems that Dell sometimes uses one default BIOS quite restrictive on the number of PCI bus in these (and other). By allowing several PCI bus, you will be able to list all the devices in the sacrifice of some memory available for OS 32 bit running on 4 GB of RAM. No problem for me because I'm under 64 bit OS.

Congratulations to Kyle even if he has not posted here yet for him give real congratulations.

  • Dell Precision T3600 problem with feedback headphones

    Hi all

I recently acquired a new Dell Precision T3600 (in January 2013). However, I got a problem with your comments when I insert earphones into the headphone jack on the front of the office. The noise can be described as a sizzling/humming noise that is loud to the point that it is too distracting to listen to the audio through it. You can hear in the headphones, however, comments are always present and distracting. I also used several different headphones to exclude that, as the problem.

I'd love to hear from others if it is a common problem with this system. I've read elsewhere that it could be a problem with the graphics card from NVIDIA, but I'm not sure.

    Kind regards

    Shaun.

    Some components of the system:

    -Intel Xeon CPU E5-1603

    -OS Windows 7

    -Graphics NVIDIA NVS 300

    This should answer your question.

  • Dell Precision 690 workstation several hard drives

I have a Dell Precision 690 and I am trying to connect the hard drives in the right order. The documentation says they must go into the HARD drive marked locations on the motherboard, but they do not work. The only slots that work are the SATA slots. I tested five SATA drives but I can only get three to work on three SATA slots instead of four locations of HARD drive and slot extra SATA as the book said to do.

I tried which helps the controller under the BIOS: has no significance if it is enabled or disabled. I determined that AHCI is unable to be activated, it must be ATA.

In the end, I need to have five total drives. Four in the slots in the HARD drive and the other in the SATA slot. (Which will be for operating system 1 SATA and SAS RAID 4). I realize that the HDD_0, 1, 2, 3 locations are to use SAS/SATA but I can't take too much work.

In addition, I don't ' know if this is important or not, but he has Windows XP Professional x 64. BIOS A05 and I know an update is A08, I did do that yet though.

Anywhere I can find that material assistance would be much appreciated.

    -E.Avalon (help).

Yes, there are three ports labeled SATA (0,1,2) and four ports labeled as HARD drive (0,1,2,3). The manual says to connect hard drives in HARD drive ports, then in the SATA ports. The first two SATA ports are for additional optical drives and the last port is used for a fifth hard drive.

I got in touch with several people in technical assistance from Dell and eventually find the right driver to install.

Because I don't have the OEM disc that came with the computer, I was doing a new installation of a Windows disc. I needed F6 (third party drivers) to activate the HARD disk ports until the installation has taken place. (And honestly I don't remember what the file was immediately.)

The AHCI could not be activated because the discs I have are Serial ATA disks and in the BIOS, there is a choice between ATA and AHCI.

The problem is solved and I feel like I could do a test on this computer and become a technician for her.

  • Dell Inspiron 1525 - unrecognized on external screen HDMI output

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 with a HDMI output port.  I have had no success with getting a display actually receive a signal from the laptop.

I tried Windows 7 and Ubuntu and when I connect the hdmi cable to my TV, the laptop instantly detects a second display device, and I can even move my mouse cursor off the screen of my laptop when the 'extended display' expected to appear on the TV (clone of office, only showing the screen hdmi using FN + F8 ", etc. also does not display anything).  I tried all ports hdmi on the TV and have also tried external monitors with hdmi inputs, I tried three different hdmi cables that work with other devices, even once, the laptop recognizes the display and I can only activate the display in Windows/Ubuntu, but the external monitor receives a signal from the laptop.  Yes, I have made sure the TV/external monitors are set to the appropriate hdmi source.  I tried to have two devices turned off with the attached cable, then by restarting, etc..

The Samsung TV that I want the output to work on will display a message "searching for signal" when I attach the hdmi cable, but after a few seconds will display "no signal". The problem is to get a real view on the external display device.  How can I get my hdmi port to send the signal my TV or other screen?  I spent hours on google and nothing has helped.  Any advice would be appreciated.

I just thought I would update this thread that I surprisingly fixed this problem.  There was a missing screw under the laptop where the HDMI port.  I ordered a few screws replacement on EBay and I replaced where the screw should be.  There were a few other missing screws as well (I got the used laptop) that I replaced.  After filling in all the gaps, I tried the HDMI connection and it worked immediately.  No idea how or why that fixed the HDMI port, but he did.

I need help in answering this question.  I want to buy a better computer for my data PCI-6259 acquisition card.  I tried to search to see if the card is compatible with the PC and there's previous numbers with this set-up before other users.  Do you have a link to the list of the DAQ cards with tested PC configurations?  I want to just make sure that when I buy the computer, everything will work without problem because I only have one shot at this.

    Hello

We do not have a link to specific DAQ board/PC pairings, but the specifications for the Dell Precision 360 indicate that she has three ports PCI 5V which must be compatible with your PCI-6259.

  • X 200 + ban crash with external screen connected with Displayport

Hello, I am new to this community, and I hope you can help me with my problem. I just have to move on to Windows 7 Pro and it is already driving me crazy. I use a Lenovo X 200 with my ban. I connect the laptop to an external monitor via DisplayPort. The Intel GM45 driver crashes about twice a minute when the laptop is docked and connected to the external monitor. All the screens turn black and subsequently a message appears that says "Intel Graphics Accelerator for XP (R) has stopped responding and has recovered". Sometimes the laptop crashes and restarts. That gets really annoying and I have not found a solution. BIOS version is 3.20. I loaded the latest driver Intel Graphics of the Lenovo Webpage (8.15.10.2302) with Windows 7 SP1 (all updates installed). When I use a standard windows driver and not the driver Intel external screen flickers black every minute once. The latest Intel driver (from the Intel website) does not, because it is said that he is not released for my laptop. Concerning

I just got the Displayport-DVI adapter and it works without any problem.

    Thanks for your comments.

I'm still confused why the real Displayport connection causes problems, but DVI is ok too.
