Several .itl iTunes and disc NAS files

I do research with respect to more than one library .itl file and using a NAS drive to iTunes:

In research, I learned that:

-If several users need to use the same iTunes Media, so it is better to use separate user .itl files this way more than 1 instance of iTunes can be opened at the same time.

-In which case NAS drives: I heard that some things can go wrong (e.g. disconnect media / need to rebuild the library) if these .itl files are NOT on the NAS drive where the media. (For example, keeping the .itl on drive HARD internal to the computer where the media lives on the NAS)

1.) are that the foregoing is true generally?

(2.) in the affirmative and I have create 2 files .itl on the NAS itself (with the media), these .itl file must be in a SPECIFIC LOCATION on the NAS? Or simply existing on the part of NAS even be good enough?

Finally, I would like to than my SIN to be configured as:

MEDIA (Public of NAS share) > music > iTunes Media

> iTunes Libraries > User A Library

> Library of user B

And I have two libraries of A and B for the use of the media since the iTunes Media folder.

Just interested if those with iTunes + NAS experience think that he is a solid Setup or if I should make a few adjustments.

Thank you!

If two iTunes libraries use the same iTunes Media folder (no matter where it is stored), which can cause problems.  If the user has added new songs, the music files are added in the iTunes Media folder.  However, user B iTunes library does not know about the new songs.  If user B deletes the songs, songs files are deleted from the iTunes Media folder.  However, A user iTunes library always expects these song files to be there.  Over time, the iTunes Media folder will become more 'out of sync' with the users iTunes libraries.

  • Sansa clip plus and itunes - how to transfer files

I'm really ignorant, but I would be very grateful for the help.   I did research on this topic here but do not understand the answers...

Basically, I use itunes on Windows XP.  I just boughts liked a Sansa clip.

I don't know even what kind of files I have in itunes - they are mostly ripped a CD. I guess they were mp3s but looking at recent postings here it looks like they may be something else (ACC file extensions?).   Anyway, I was fiddling around in itunes but have not been able to verify what are the types of files ('cos I'm ignoring it!)

Earlier today I just copied some of the songs in itunes, go to Windows Explorer and paste in the section music to the Sansa Clip file.   They played very well...

Then I went and deleted these files on the Sansa Clip Plus, because they were just an experiment.

Then I went back to itunes and copied the files over.   This time, when I went to paste the files in Sansa Clip Plus in Windows Explorer, I found the option to paste is grayed out.

I'm stuck and would be incredibly grateful for the help.   As you can from it of the mess that the above, any guidance I get has to be pretty basic.

the easiest way is just to look at the files in windows Explorer. go to documents, then music. the music folder to itunes folder. That's where itunes stores all the files. you need to configure the computer to display file extensions for known file types. Find your MP3 files and copy them from windows Explorer, then glue them to the clamp.

  • Add, change and delete the file "iTunes" on a NAS

I have just said "Apple Support Community" by Apple Support.

The title probably sums up what I'm trying to do. I'm looking for a way to add, change, and delete files on a NAS.

Hardware: MacBook Pro 15, 1 TB of storage, 16 GB memory, OSX El Capitan.

NAS: Qnap TS - 453 has: storage nominally 16 TB, up to about 5 TB.  4 WD 4TB disks in a RAID 5 configuration.

a Vaio WIN10 as well as a smaller MacBook (my wife)

The purpose of the NAS is to provide a backup system for computers and act a server "iTunes."

I acquired the NAS after the death of my WD MyBook live in December 2015 after five years of reading backup and "iTunes" to my computer and the Sonos system.

After two months of 'getting to know you' with the NAS, I finally managed to configure the server "iTunes" and Mirabile Indo-European it works!  I'm just doing the SIN to a back-up for computers.

Now for the question: I am looking for an app (for lack of a better term) that will allow me to add and remove files to and from the NAS "iTunes" folder

My search for a solution so far has indicated that:

    (1) NAS' iTunes folder is not really true Apple iTunes and

    (2) I need something that is DAAP (Digital Audio Access Protocol) friendly, that would allow me to add, change and delete the files.that would allow me to add, edit and delete files.

I'm not looking for something that would synchronize the files iTunes NAS to one of my computers, I am all prepared to do myself if necessary.

If I can't find an application so I use the app 'Brute Force' change my Mac iTunes required records and download again to my NAS.

Why do you need an app to put the files in a folder on the NAS Server?  Make them just above in the Finder.  Maybe I'm missing just your problematic here.  Do you mean add your PEMA files to iTunes? I've never used this file format, but kind of, I would be very surprised if iTunes supported it.

the NAS iTunes folder is not really true Apple iTunes

I don't understand what you're trying to say here.  "Apple iTunes" is an application. Yes, a folder is not an application.

Be warned, we see not few messages from people that use iTunes with a NAS. Often the problems cannot be explained. sometimes just iTunes and NAS disagree togther.

  • WD my cloud and iTunes do not find files

I bought a WD mycloud 4TB NAS to unload my iTunes files and photos from my Mac.  I don't want it as a back up that I have a time machine that is dedicated for backups. I want to delete the files from my hard drive on my mac and iTunes from the form of NAS files.

I spent countless hours to search through messages and to try everything without success. I copied my music/iTunes folder on my NAS and it created a folder called iTunes. All files and folder structure seems good. I start iTunes with the option key is finished and select choose library. I then navigate to my new iTunes on the NAS folder. It "looks like" my songs and movies are all there after iTunes lance, however in the upper left corner, I noticed a symbol of home with a

up and down arrow. When I choose that I have two options, 1 with check mark beside my computer and below not controlled is account. If I select account, it shows me that a blank iTunes with 'WDMMycloud' has no music? (or all that content so that ever).

I put the iTunes from the copy folder in the folder under my name of user NAS.  My only options are:

    my user name

    PUblic

    SMartWare

    TImeMachineBackup

can I somehow do it copied on the conduit of the root and not in a folder?  Any help would be appreciated.

I don't have a WD NAS, but other messages that I get the WD has print server software to serve as a library as a shared item. Maybe that's what you see?  I have heard others mention small houses or anything like that when they ask about it to a normal hard disk.

To move a library you copy just the Media folder, you copy the folder iTunes integer.

With the help of NAS is a popular idea for iTunes libraries. The problem is iTunes and NAS don't get along together, and maybe it's your first visit here.

It would not seem like an audio CD, as a drive in this way is a data disc when it contains mp3 files. You would need to access the file menu in iTunes, manage files here. If you manually manage music, you will need to access it as a regular folder on your computer. In iTunes, go to file > add file to library, and select individual files.

  • iTunes 'Matched' Match songs include MP3s and AAC audio files! What is going on?

So I was adding songs to my iTunes library because they have raised the limit to 100K songs.

I see strange results as types of song of audio files AAC, audio MPEG files (MP3s), and AAC audio files matched expected. In addition, AAC audio files are 192 Kbps, while the MP3 and the matched AACs are 256 Kbps.

How can there be a change much? I thought that the game only returns equal AAC, not MP3 files.

Things have changed than this since I last downloaded my library (about three years)?

    Hello

Different was that no change in the way iTunes game manages music files. If a track is matched, you must remove the original track download only SELECT make available offline. It has never been automatic and you do the update manually.

  • I am trying to burn a cd on iTunes and it says __Non supported drive found... burners _ so I click on burn, then says Disc Burner or software not found.

I try to reinstall the program, but it simply doesn't.

    Help, please!

    Hello

Having too many CD/DVD programs can cause problems, in particular those charged pieces of
themselves at startup. Try to uninstall iTunes and more recently added (not those
included with your computer) to see if that helps.

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.

Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and
the correct registry entries for your car.

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive
as there will be other subkeys in these keys. Do not forget to ask specific keys involved as well as
    the parameters.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\IDE

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Hardware Profiles\0001\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\IDE
