SF300 vs 2960 POE

I want to choose between these two network switches medium-sized companies in terms of reliability, quality, fan noise, bugs.

I don't need to fibre channel,

I use ip phones

What is the best?

2960. the main reason for using the SMB switches would be financial and they are simply not as reliable, unfortunately.

I have a problem to connect my WAP200E to SW2960. What was my mistake?

Both are POE. I only connect Wap200e to SW2960 and I check the 15.4watts, but I assumed that 200th WAP does not, because 200th WAP does not illuminate.

I need to put in cultivated, or put a camera on to connect to SW2960 to the 2000th WAP.

    Can you help me, please?

I tested a wap200e with a SB-PWR-INJ1 connection to the switch SF300, this fuelled the AP without problems

  • Investigation on compatibility of combine fiber HP Module.

    I have a Cisco switch s 2960 PoE installed.

I was wondering if the fiber HP #AJ718A ( http://h30094.www3.hp.com/product/sku/3790470 ) module is compatible with it.

If it is compatible, is there much difference between it and the cisco GLC-SX-MM?

    Thank you

I was wondering if the HP Fiber module #AJ718A   ( http://h30094.www3.hp.com/product/sku/3790470 ) is compatible with it.

No, it won't.  You insert the SFP in a Cisco 2960 S and the port goes into 'err - disable' until you remove them.

is there much difference between it and the cisco GLC-SX-MM ?

Not a lot of difference.  There are only a few FPS manufacturers that provide components for the major manufacturers like HP and Cisco.  The difference is that Cisco has inserted a brand Cisco SFP IDPROM algo.  The unit will interrogate the component and if the extracted from the IDPROM hash values do not match, then the port goes in "err - disable.

  • APs 1242AG LWAPP mode conversion problem

    Hello

I have a few APs 1242AG to convert standalone in LWAPP mode. The conversion tool (v 3.4) keeps giving me an error saying that there is a list of firewall or preventing work TFTP access.

It is this time I use the internal TFTP server in the tool or TFTPD32 on the same PC or even if I leave the picture in TFTPD of flash on the 2960 POE switch I test the upgrade on the access point is connected to!

If do it manually one ' archive download-sw / overwrite/no-set-boot tftp: / /... ". "since the console telnet on the same access point, it downloads the image very well. I can also copy the config for my TFTP server!

It's driving me crazy ideas that I hurt APs to LWAPP mode.

Oh the WLC is a race 5508 latest 7.x code, but I don't think that's relevant here.

  • 4506E Core and 2960S access IP Camera System switches

    Hi all

I implement my first Cisco network and needed a little guidance. Here's the scenario and I wish that it works:

    • 2960S access switches will have cameras IP PoE and POS stations connected to them with the core fiber uplinks.
    • 4506E central office switch will have all the switches connected to the fiber SFP uplink ports access. All fiber optic cables are single mode with LC connectors.
    • All the cameras IP PoE and the other the camera server NETWORK card will be the 172.16.0.0/16 network and in case of default Vlan 1.
    • All computers of end users and a NETWORK card in the camera server will be on the 192.168.1.0/16 network and Vlan 2. 2 VLAN is needed as the main switch.
    • All stations of POS and stand-alone server POS will be on 192.168.20.0/16 and Vlan 3 switch network access and the base.
    • It will be a completely closed network, no internet access.
    • Computers end users will access video server with raids unicast.
    • All switches interconnect fiber SFP transceivers of 1 GB.
    • VLANs are not to communicate with eachother, just need to Vlan 1 and 3, be passed on to the switch base. It will be setting ports in the trunk switchport mode correct?
    • I gave all the devices static IP networks, with the exception of IP cameras that will get the IP Address of the DHCP server.
    • When I plug in a device of watt PoE 15.4, is the port set to auto detects by default so it lights camera or manually activate PoE on the port?

-I have to run DHCP on central switch, only on the default Vlan 1 172.16.0.0/16 network so my IP cameras can obtain an IP address.

    IP dhcp pool cameras

    network 172.16.0.0 255.255.0.0

    default router 172.16.0.1

-On the PoE IP camera and POS station ports I think following configuration:

    switchport mode access

    spanning tree portfast

I would like to know what you think. I have a few weeks before they must go to the production. Any help and advice will be greatly appreciated!

I will be checking periodically the thread and display updates.

    Yes I see!

So with each carpet use "port 1' for each channel.

    for example

If we have a stack, there that a single etherchannel, should therefore be port-channel 1 (the first 6). This could bind to the 4500 to Portchannel 1

When we have the second battery, it will also be an etherchannel, which is the port-channel 1 (the first 6).

This could bind to the 4500 on Portchannel 2

and so on... The port-channel number is locally meaningful only so you don't meet for loops if its configured as suggested, etc...

This way you can keep it simple and you will have ease of management in this way.

No, there is no point linking medical examinations to configure

    Hope it makes sense.

  • SG300 - 28 p: POE power drops every few minutes

    Hi all

We have a SG300 - 28 p which, at intervals between 5 and 30 minutes or more, lower power to all its ports POE-powered and then immediately restores power. Switch logs nothing when this happens other than to record that the ports went down and back up, even with debug logging enabled. Non - POE ports are not affected.

When the problem started there were only four POE devices on the switch and we are far under our power budget. (During the test, I added a fifth device, see below.)

Not all combinations of devices cause the drops occur - specifically, it seems that having devices on ports next to each other causing the drops. When the drops occur, absent the increment of POE devices all counters. I noticed this thread earlier here seemed similar:

    https://supportforums.Cisco.com/thread/2165089

but in this case, he got no power at all in the adjacent configurations, instead of having to drop all the several minutes.

Hi Rich, reference this photo I just drew is a rough interpretation of how a switch 24 ports has guts. Each + block represents a processor. The numbers below represent the port Bank that corresponds to the transformer. Of course, MODULE POE is clearly identified. Each module 12 POE ports for services.

I think you have a completely different question. If the POE works for 5 to 30 minutes, it can be a problem of layer 1 (bad son) or a different, perhaps material condition being disturbed. If the switch is at fault, it seems more likely to be defective to a unit of buggy.  I did a lot of research on the operation of the switch ASIC, transformer and modules of POE in the cohesion.

Quite frankly, I think you should go to the 1.2.7.76 firmware, factory reset the device and test all the ports you want using the same equipment. If maintaining the POE fall every 5 to 30 minutes and you are absolutely positive, that it is not a question of layer 1 or a configuration problem on your products, can I just replace the switch.

  • Cisco cat. 2960 switch to SF 302-08MP

I try to get the VLAN in our network of the company work in the switch of SF - 302. I updated a port in the 2960 "switchport mode trunk".

and can not get any VLAN except the default vlan 1 for work in the SF-302. I understand that the DRIFT is not available in the 302 but if VTP is defined in a transparent mode in the 2960... is there a way to make usable 302 with all other VLAN? It has the latest firmware 1.2.9.44.

Should I turn on GVRP in the grief SF-302 or which will cause with my other Cisco VTP switches?

Hi Tim, you must configure each vlan to the port of the SF300 example

    config t

    database of VLAN

    VLAN 2-5

    interface fa01

    switchport mode trunk

    switchport trunk vlan 1 native

switchport trunk allowed vlan add 2-5

This will allow all the VLANs on the SF300 to the trunk to the 2960. Of course, this is just an example. If you need details, let me know.

  • POE switch

Is the SF100D - 08 p unmanaged switch POE a model? If so, is there a comparable replacement? I am looking for a switch at reasonable price to access WAP power points.

Sent by Cisco Support technique iPad App

Loan, the only downside, the network of comments, if the unmanaged switch connect AP will be able to be part of the 1 subnet.

If your private network is 192.168.1.100 and your guest is 192.168.2.100 AP will be a member of one or the other but not both. It really wouldn't be a way to separate LAN traffic that would frustrate the purpose of the guest network. The RV180 and WAP321 two are supported VLANS. The switch cannot recognize the VLAN ID and therefore cannot separate traffic.

So in practical nature a managed switch must be deployed.

    RV180-> SF300 - 8 P-> AP

All these facilities to load VLAN 802.1 and will be able to separate the traffic about all you like.

  • Cisco Catalyst 4503-> Cisco 3560 L3-> Cisco 2960 L2-> Cisco SMB switch

    Hi Experts,

I am trying to add a Cisco SMB SF300 - 24 Switch to an infrastructure that has only the Cisco Catalyst switches

The base layer is Cisco Cataylst 4503. Distribution is Cisco Catalyst 3560 and Cisco 2960 switches access layer.

There are about 30 VLAN present in the infrastructure that is announced to all switches using VTP. Inter VLAN routing takes place at basic switches

by creating the Interface VLAN for each VLAN of L2.

    1. the new 150 VLAN must be created on the new Cisco SMB switch. If I create a corresponding interface 150 VLAN on core switches, it will forward the other VLANs traffic just as he is currently working for Cisco 2960 Catayst switches?

    2. While they inspected, I could see that the DERIVATIVE is not supported on the Cisco SMB switches and I would need to go GVRP if I need to make advertising information to other switches VLAN. But since GVRP is only supported on CatOS and there is no inter operability between GVRP and DERIVED, I would need to manually create the VLAN on the new switch. Is this correct?

    Help, please!

    Thank you very much

    Good afternoon Anup Sasikumar

    Please use our forum

My name is Johnnatan I am part of the community of support to small businesses, I saw your post and I understand that you want to configure VTP and GVRP.

I'm afraid you will have to configure it manually each Vlan in each device CatOS GVRP, in order to keep their databases vlan in sync. As you say, VTP is support it not in CatOS

You can try to connect the two protocols, but I encourage you do not follow this procedure.

On your question about intervlan routing, if you create a corresponding interface 150 VLANS on switches to base it is routed, if your configuration is correct (port access, ports of junction, intervlan etc..)

I hope that you will find this answer useful, if it was satisfactory to you, please indicate the question as answer.

So, when I am connected to the sw via the console port I can access the switch but I can't do as much as the switch displays this error every millisecond.

    Device configuration:

    0 device: GT_98DX1035 (AlleyCat2)

What I tried to do is to set the switch by entering a PIN into the reset hole and hold, but nothing works. Is there a way I can save this switch?

Everything I did, did not. Update boot code and code from the firmware to the latest version; do not solve the problem.

I contacted the Cisco SMB Support and they gave me an RMA number for my switch.
Easy: The solution is the replacement.

    Greetings.

  • PoE to power a switch

Does anyone know of an Ethernet hub or switch that can be powered from Power Over Ethernet?  I have a location without electricity but with an Ethernet jack.  This would allow me to extend the network there without having to invest in the walls of the electrician and opening etc.

    Thank you.

There are switches that can provide Poe or be powered by PoE equipment (such as Netgear and TP-Link) network suppliers. It is also possible to use a separate PoE injector for the provision. For switches/routers without possibility to be powered directly by PoE, a PoE splitter can offer an alternative solution. There are some limits of voltage and current (and temperature) that must be respected. In addition, always check the construction and electrical instructions for your country.

  • Express airport capable of PoE?

Looking at a security camera that connects through PoE.

If it will work on my AEBS with 2 ethernet wan/lan?

Sorry, but Apple airports do not PoE support.

  • I get my internet through a Repeater.  There is a POE carrier then online, then a router adapter yet.   Can I use an Airport Extreme with POE to improve my WiFi range?

I live in Baja California Surinamese no cable.  You want to improve WiFi.  Not sure how to interact with a POE.  Tried to set up the airport without a bit of luck.  Appreciate some feedback.

If the connection between the POE (Power over Ethernet) device and the AirPort Extreme is a wireless, then you will not be able to extend the network Wi - Fi of the OCB in the extreme. This is possible with an another AirPort base station.

In addition, only a particular model of the base station AirPort Extreme POE supported wired connections. It was discontinued in 2007 and is model # A1034.

  • GS728TP: PoE fault

    Hello

We just purchased a Smart GS728TP PoE Switch.

Unfortunately, when we plug in a new device requiring of PoE, the switch must be rebooted before will recognize (and power) of the new device. It works without problem once this has been done.

I raised a support ticket and Netgear advised me, it must be a hardware failure on the device. They suggested that I return to the vendor.

My initial intention was to buy a GS724TP, but was apparently it is now obsolete and the GS728TP was a direct replacement.

We also have a GS748TP (purchased at the same time), and it works without any problem of PoE.

Has anyone encountered a similar problem?

Maybe I missed something obvious in the configuration. However, I have done a factory reset (and also waited 20 minutes to see if the switch recognizes the device without having to reboot).

    Many thanks in advance,
    Stephen

    Hello

I am very happy to find a topic referring exactly the issue I encountered.
I also received a replacement switch put the problem was always the same (latest firmware from the website, etc...).

After hours of troubleshooting, I discovered that it is related to the switch cascading behind it.

This GS728TP was connected on a GS724TP, both are POE switches, I disabled the POE feature on the two switches on the ports used for them and no problems cascading more.

I don't know if you've had the same configuration, but in my case, it is now resolved!

    Kind regards.

  • M4100 - 26G - POE - lack of recurring overload on 17-24 ports

I have a M4100 - 26G - POE that I bought a few weeks ago and I see recurring defects of overload on 17-24 ports only. I used the exact same cables and devices on ports 1-16 and they all work fine, but if I move the cable to one of the top ports this will work for a few minutes then reset due to a defect of overload all few minutes or more. Everything goes well with the cables or connectors, and like I said it works fine on ports 1-16. Ports 1-16 are configured as ports 17-24 in the page web.

I want to know is if anyone else experienced a similar problem. Specifically, I want to know if it's a defective unit, a hardware design flaw, or a problem with the firmware (version for this model). I tend to think, it's probably a defective unit, but I would not be shocked if it is a firmware issue.

I want to know because I won't go well the expense by exchanging the unit to the store or swap try it on warranty and get a replacement that is a refurbished, model unless something is actually wrong with the hardware. I don't know that I see myself using more then 16-port POE in the foreseeable future.

Firmware 10.0.1.27 is now available, and a section in the release notes may relate to this problem:

Someone who goes through this thread who saw this problem, tell us what you find!

      I sold my M4100 - 26G - POE because I needed a job switch.
