SGE2000 extended frames support

All switches Cisco/Linksys line, why the SGE2000 single gigabit managed that is pass has all kinds of great features including some features of routing layer 3, but does not support true Jumbo Frames?  It is only supported for so-called "mini jumbo frames" 1600 bytes, which is little about as useful as... Well, he is a polished community, so I'll just say it's useless.

Cheaper switches are supported 10K or 9K jumbo frames.

The SGE2010 supports 9K jumbo frames.  The SGE2010 is supposed to be the 48-port version of the SGE2000.

Are there plans to include frames jumbo 9K (or bettter) in a future update for the SGE2000?  Are there any plans even to update the firmware of the SGE2000?

SGE2000 supports jumbo frames up to 10K today. In fact, the frames extended up to 10 K is supported on all Small Business Smart and Managed Gigabit switches.

We will have the datasheet corrected - sorry for the validated information.

Thank you

Ivor

  • On SGE2000 Jumbo frames

    Hi all

I'm looking to turn our SGE2000 of frames, but I'm not going to use it on a single VLAN and it seems to be a global setting.

    It will be a problem?

    Thank you

    Ian

Allowing the frames on your switch should not be in question, just keep in mind that it is enabled in the world as you say so you can't inhibit only one VLAN, however it should not create problems on any other VLAN if that's what you're asking.

  • ESXi 4 has Jumbo frame support?

I am about to install a "Iomega StorCenter Pro ix4-200r NAS' for use with a server ESXi 4 using iSCSI.

This device supports Jumbo frame support and hoping that ESX does as well, anyone know?

    Thank you

I'm not sure I understand how to make a big gain - with 1500 byte MTU, it's already better than 97% (38-byte header).  Of course, there will be a reduction in the treatment of overhead (CPU utilization should be reduced a little) but toe should alleviate a lot of this - ESX (i) uses ToE?

Unfortunately the jumbo frames are a feature under license, see here.

  • CRIO 9853: Why the mask is required to send and receive extended frame CAN (J1939)?

I develop application RT who communicate with device of CAN frames extended through CRIO and 9853 CAN module with J1939 Protocol.

I look at Protocol J1939 example of reference to help me in my project.

Everything works fine, but I want to know why when I use the 9853 Module I need to use the bitmask (AND 0x1FFFFFFF to READ and OR write 0x20000000)

As you can see on the example of OR... (to WRITE)

Therefore, use both mask the good CAN Frame ID on the network?

He's not blok me... but I would like to understand why I need to add this code...

Hope someone will have the answer.

    Roman

Playback uses the 30 bit to indicate whether the ID is standard or extended. Otherwise, if you have received ID 0x0000000A, you don't know if it was std or extended. For higher numbers (> 11 bit), it's obvious, but the flag is set, without worrying if you don't need several branches.

  • where to place the frame supporting the library?

    Hi all
I have a question about the framework of the adf.
As part of the adf all the library which we add place in weblogic server and real applications we add only the library reference.
If you see some othe framework like spring where we add every spring framework libray in the application ear file.

How to put the associated Framework library is better to put on server to add the part of the ear file.

    Thank you
    AK.

Put the library once on the server: it can be shared between multiple applications (where the name "shared library"). You could do the same thing with spring on WLS if libraries you want.

  • VMnet bridge cannot not labeled past 1500 byte frames (1504 bytes with tag) - is there a solution?

    Hello

I set up a Windows 7 with VMware Workstation 10 host.  I am running 3 guests: 2 Linux and Windows XP 1.  These individuals are bound by local network segments.  A Linux host (let's call it 'A') brudges network interface 1 to an Ethernet USB adapter attached to the host.

The other invited Linux (let's call it 'B') bridges 4 network interfaces on the host of Win 7.  I do this Setup VLAN b (eth2.30, eth2.60, eth2.29, eth2.220) and bypass eth2 interface integrated on the host of Win 7.  I had to create a registry entry "MonitorMode" (http://www.intel.com/support/network/sb/CS-005897.htm) on the Windows 7 host in order to move the frames marked between the guest and the outside world (Win 7 strips incoming tags by default).  NIC integrated on the Win 7 host is connected to a Cisco switch as a 802. 1 q trunk.  Other hosts are connected to the switch via these VLANs on the trunk.  Applications on these hosts communicate with guests on the host of Win 7 on the VLAN, it is necessary.

It works fine until I have try to get through the VMnet bridge frames that have an MTU greater than 1496.  These frameworks are interrupted whehter they are incoming or outgoing.  I suspect that the reason is an acceptable framework normally 1500 bytes is, when the tag, 1504 bytes and is therefore stripped on the VMNet bridge.  I tried to adjust the MTU on the NIC host and eth2 comments to 1496 and 1504.  No effect, as I expected.  Packet Capture one side of the bridge as these large frames MTU vmnet show are ignored at the bridge.

I have control over some of the external systems (and of course all the guests) and I adjusted the MTU on these systems at 1496 bytes.  This works very well for these systems.  But for traffic from external guests that I can't change it, 1500 (1504 with tag) frames is ignored at the vmnet bridge.

I have read that I need jumbo frames support so that it works.  I found documentation indicating extended frames are not supported in workstation 7.  I guess that has not changed in 10 WS.

I tried an alternative approach: Create VLANs on the host of Win 7 using Intel PROset, remove the VLAN eth2 the Linux prompt and instead create multiple virtual NICs (eth2, 3, 4, 5) and fill each virtual NETWORK adapter to a host of Win 7 VLAN.  Although VMWare network Editor allows me to create these bridges, I can't pass any traffic through them regardless of the MTU.

    So, my questions:

    (1) are extended frames supported in 10 Workstation?  If so, how can I activate them?

    (2) I would be able to bridge a guest virtual NETWORK adapter to a VIRTUAL host LAN interface?

    (3) is there another way to do this?

    Thank you and best regards,

    Steve

    Solved!

The other approach, I described in the previous post (creation of VLANs on the host of Win 7 using Intel PROset, remove the VLAN eth2 the Linux prompt and instead create multiple virtual NICs (eth2, 3, 4, 5) and fill each virtual NETWORK adapter to a host of Win 7 VLAN) works if I REMOVE the setting of registry MonitorMode I also described in the previous post.

Wireshark showed that with the Win 7 host VLAN enabled and the value of MonitorMode tags VLAN were being stripped.  Eliminating MonitorMode allows the NIC to tag/UNTAG as needed by the configuration of VLAN PROset.  Since the frames are not marked as they are bridge to/from the comments, all the interfaces of my spend management full size in both feel.

  • Airport Extreme Gigabit Ethernet and Jumbo frames

    Hi all.

Can anyone support me kindly about Gigabit Ethernet & Jumbo Frames with Airport Express?

I currently have and use a 5th generation Airport Express and you want to buy the QNAP TS - 453 Pro NAS. In any implementation of storage NAS, Gigabit Ethernet, the frames extended as matching Ethernet card well, are all very important to achieve broadband performance, so my questions are:

    5th generation Airport Express

    • Are the NETWORK Gigabit NIC Ethernet card?
    • It also works with extended frames (QNAP NAS supports 4074, 9000 and 7418 bytes for MTU)?
    • QNAP can trunk NIC (if more then one) with the following options:
      • IEEE 802.3ad (dynamic link aggregation)
      • Balance-tlb (Adaptive Transmit Load Balancing)
      • Balance-alb (Adaptive Load Balancing)
      • others (mainly for failover)

Is 5th generation Airport Express enough or should I think about moving to the 6th generation?

    Thank you.

You mix up the terminology... Express and Extreme are totally different.

The title is correct... Extreme... your question text replaces by Express... they are only 10/100... and gen only 2 of them.

    Any airport extreme Gen2 - Gen6

    Use the Gigabit ports.

    Do not support jumbo frames

  • The frames never get fragmented

    Hello

a few questions about the jumbo frames.

    (1) if the switch is NOT configured to support jumbo frame is always deleted or are there conditions under which framework gets fragmented.

    (2) if they are always deleted then what type of images get fragmented?

    (3) if the support of extended frames is configured on the switch, but output to a 1841 router port is 100 MB, I understand that the frames are removed.  Is there a way to solve this problem. If the link to the router is upgraded to gigabit framework will pass through the port of output to the router? will be the fragment of the router and get it from?

    Thank you

    Hi Charly,

fragmentation happen to L3 L2 (unless we treat FR or ATM or other technologies). Of course it does not apply to ethernet.

Another important concept is that the MTU MUST be configured with the same value to each L3 link between 2 routers.

    ROUTER1 1500 - 1500 ROUTER2 9000 - 9000 9000-9000 1500 router4 router3 - 1500 router5

fragmentation will occur with router4 router5 assuming that router4 receives a frame with size router3 9000 and fragmenting at least 6 small 1500 images to send to router5 (this school year as since our package ip probably comes from ROUTER1 its size will not exceed 1500).

If you have a mismatch between the 2 ends of a link MTU you drops in the sense more-to-small

    ROUTER1 9000 - 1500 ROUTER2

ROUTER2 will drop all frames more than 1500 (a little more) from ROUTER1

This scenario is clearly a configuration error!

If you enable the support over a link, you need to be sure that the other side of it, there are an l3 device that also takes in charge jumbo frames

L2 switches a drop frames larger than the mtu of port... but if this happens to you clearly configured something wrong.

Say that you assign to a port of a switch L2 9000 L2, as the mtu is calculated to l3 of the actual image size is calculated by the unit of L3 (host or router) that sends the frame, so most likely will be 1500. There is so no risk to give up anything on the switch.

    hope that clarifies

  • ESXi 4.0 and 4.1 Free Edition and Jumbo frames

    Hello everyone.

    Happy new year.

Please can someone answer my question.

Extended frames are not supported in the free ESXi 4.0 edition

    This is discussed here.

    http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 1012454

Are they supported in ESXi 4.1 Free Edition or should I upgrade to Essentials?

MI pregunta are so esta conexion esta activo/activo evil configurada if're considerada como una aggregation of enlace y por lo tanto work a 2 GB y por tanto con mayor performance.

Hasta ahora no he tenido any packages lost problema y ha funcionado todo correctamente. (o al menos creo). What I hope aren't tener algun tipo degradation of las conexiones por el tipo config that I have made.

    Agradeceria vuestra experiencia y colaboracion.

    Extended frames:

VMware don't las supports frames Jumbo con el por iSCSI initiator software. Con esto quiero decir that if lo haces y tienes no problema, a VMware no llames. ¿Funcionar? Smell if works. ¿Mejora en algo el performance? Parece ser if. ¿Merece Peña el riesgo for the lost of support? ESO evaluarlo tu a.

  • Best Meanless for the 7 "digital picture frame

    Hello

    I had one

    * Digital Photo Frame II, 7 "O, 720 x 480, touch sensor, MP3 Player-Funktion PA3637K-1ETC *.

Manual talk about the best resolution for the photos to.

you will find on the Web: 800 x 480 pixel WVGA screen (720 x 480 pixels ZAL Bereich)

    726 x 480 pixel samples.

    Now my problem:

When you put pictures on it - * it cropps a bit on the right and left side and more on the top and the bottom.*

I tried many sizes. Even in 720 x 480 it cropps.

So my question is: what is the best resolution for the photos?

    Best regards

    Markus

I think that the Digital Photo Frame supports the 3:2 format.

It's a format that is supported for analog cameras.

I think that your photos are created in 3:4.

So if you want to get a maximum photo resolution then you create pictures in the 3:2 format.

For most all CAMS dig support such format and you can choose somewhere in the menu of the digital camera.

  • HP Support Assistant broke up shortly after the upgrade to windows 8

I use a 4 month old desktop HP Pavilion HPE h9-1130 Phoenix, with windows 8 pro (64-bit). There are 2 or more months, I upgraded to windows 7 (64-bit), and I followed the instructions of the windows Upgrade Wizard 8. He said not to uninstall HP support assistant, so I left. After the upgrade, which went through flawlessly, hp support Assistant works perfectly. But a few weeks or months, he ran an update, and update failed to start and the program crashed. Immediately after that, the icon of Wizard support hp in the taskbar has disappeared, as well as the program itself. It will be displayed on the list of programs, but I'm not able to uninstall or do something with it. I can't either start. I tried to get help from HP customer care, but they were a bunch of idiots who just wasted my time. I couldn't even communicate with them, because they were all Indians and speaks very by the English. I tried to ask to speak with a customer support English agent or a Manager, but they would put me on hold and it would never transfer, so I hung up. I think I spoke to 6 different customer support agents a few week spans and via different outlets (live chat, phone, email). One of the "agents of support" has been so incompetent that he spent an hour on the remote just link sitting there, doing repetitive things I told him constantly, I had already tried, like trying to do a base installation of the Web-_-... That said, I was wondering if someone could help me solve the problem, because I would like to have Deputy support back on my computer. But I am doing nothing tedious as a reinstallation of windows or something like that, because it's just ridiculous for a program very little relevant.

Resolved, by none other than myself. No, thanks to HP customer care, or this forumn. Of a curious, I uninstalled a crap tone of the files and folders that are associated with HP Support Assistant, including HP, frame Support HP, HP Setup, HP Setup Manager support and many other files via Windows Explorer (by searching appropriate tab of the computer), Windows uninstaller and Revo Uninstaller free control panel. Once I felt I had managed to get rid of a bunch of broken files of shit, I tried to install a new HP SA on their site, but it wouldn't work. To fix that, I found that guests "Overwriting" mentioned above has led to the problem, which was "swsetup" and HP SA files have been left and prevented a clean install.  So to fix that, I deleted all pre-existing swsetup and files HP SA from Windows Explorer. After all this, I was able to successfully install SA HP, although I had to download it and then manually start the installation process by clicking on the executable file of the application in the new HP SA folder. Everything seems to work fine now, I ran pretty much all the features of the program and they work fine.  The only thing that seems to be a bit weird is that I updated the original HP Bluetooth driver and rebooted, but it seems not to save the update, as it is still prompting me to do it again.  This isn't a big deal, as an easy solution is just for x on this recommended update and hide.   I will update if something happens, but if I don't update, it means that the product works as it should.  Let's hope I don't have to deal with HP customer support once again, what a terrible experience!
