Share a large file taking up hard drive space

My question is when you share a large folder does it take twice the space on my C: drive. My readers to music, the songs show as duplicates. So I was wondering if it takes up to twice the amount of space on my hard drive?  Anyone has any idea on this?

  • I copy / paste a file from a hard drive to a usb port and now I lost the USB I get the hard drive?

"Deleting" a file does not actually delete it marks just the space
also available to be used. There are third-party programs that can
sometimes recover deleted files. The problem is that the space used by
the file is likely to be replaced very quickly, and it makes
    the unrecoverable file.

So your chances of successfully recover this file are decent if you
Try it again immediately after the deletion of it and go quickly
downhill from there. If you have used the computer since then (for
example to write this question and read this answer), your chances may
    be very poor now.

But if the file is large enough, it's still worth a try. Stop
using the computer in question immediately, if you have not done
already. Download an undelete program (and here's one:)
    http://www3.TELUS.NET/mikebike/restoration.html but there are several
others to choose from; Do a search) on a friend's computer (do not
it on yours because that would overwrite the files you want
Undelete) and bring it to you on a CD or thumb drive to try.

If that fails, your only recourse is to bring or send the disc
a company of professional file recovery. This kind of service is very
expensive and may or may not work in your case.

  • My files on the hard drive are getting corrupted?

I use the model of MacBook Air 2013 Yosemite running. I have a Seagate BackPlus 1 TB drive to NTFS. And I use Tuxers NTFS on my Mac to read and write files from NTFS devices. Lately, I'm sloly from knowledge that my files on the hard drive are getting corrupted. When I try to open any folder I blocks until I have remove my hard drive. I lost some files like this. Now, they are completely inaccessilble. The big sone files show even ehen 0 bytes, they are around a GB or something. I start out freak because all my data is in this hard drive. 1 TB of data. Its my life is locked in it.

Is someone can you please tell me what is happening with my hard drive?

    Thanks in advance...

Is someone can you please tell me what is happening with my hard drive?

Probably not. The problem you are experiencing is almost certainly that the drive itself has failed. It could have also been caused by third party software that you use to support a formatted NTFS volume. Isolate the cause to one or the other is probably not an effort worth it, because the files themselves are probably already damaged and unusable. In this case the only alternative to certain to succeed is to restore from a backup.

As you know the Mac FAT32 and ExFAT supports and can read, but not write - formatted NTFS volume. For this reason, if you ask the Windows compatibility, you must select ExFAT.

You could try using the third-party data recovery software, even if success is not guaranteed. I can offer no specific product recommendations.

  • Satellite M60-164: very large external 320 GB HARD drive data Transmision

I am the proud owner of a Toshiba Satellite M60 164, however, as I am downloading my wife camcorder videos and burn them to DVD, I rapibly to run out of hard drive space. Therefore, Saturday I purchsed a new Toshiba 320 GB USB external hard drive.

After you have copied a number of videos captured on this new disc (about 20 min each for approximately 22Gb), I'm trying now copy back - one at a time - on the hard disc internal PC to burn them on DVD.

Each of the 22 GB files takes up to 200 minutes (more than 3 hours!) to transfer back from the external hard drive to PC Hd - this seems incredibly long (I'm not impressed) - anyone any idea why this might be?

Link is USB2. 1 GB of Ram on PC, 75 GB of disk space on PC internal Hd, 1.83 MHz piece, Norton Security running, if nothing else when attempting to transfer. Manual is useless, all this suggests is maybe 1 GB per dry 18 (at best) - a little difference between 396 seconds and 200 minutes (I have of course the NET would be faster!)

The clues what is the problem?

    Pete

    Hello

I guess that the Norton Security checks the files during the file transfer.
Try turning off the Antivirus and Norton Security application if you want to copy the files.
    Check it out.
The other possibility is that the drive HARD internal (5200 RPM) can't handle faster transmission of files.

  • How can I recover the files of failed hard drive

    Hello

Apparently, my hard drive failed on my HP.  I'm running Windows XP with the latest service pack.
I get a black screen that says "disk error, press ctrl + atl + del to restart".
Given that it is a 7 year old computer, I don't see the need to put a lot of effort in intensive care there.
But I would like to get some of the files on the hard drive.
Can anyone suggest a way to access the contents of the hard drive?  I would like to get some Word, excel, PDF files.  Nothing major.
    Thank you
    AS

    Hello

If the drive has indeed failed then you need professional services which are very expensive. Best
method would be to contact your local computer store, the other his own service in-house, and have
check out them the disc. Eventually, they can recover your files and they know all local professional
    services available in your area.

  • As I was deleting some files from my hard drive, I came across some files that I couldn't remove with a message saying remove wite protection.

As I was deleting some files from my hard drive, I came across some files that I couldn't remove with a message saying remove wite protection. Help!

This error indicates that an application is using this file at this point here. If you are unable to remove it, restart your computer and then try to delete it.

IF YOU ARE NOT SUCCESSFUL WITH THE above METHOD, THEN TRY to USE UNLOCKER, a free application that disables the application using the file that you want to delete.
    Download unlocker from here-http://www.filehippo.com/download_unlocker/
Click on the above link and click on download the newer version on the right side of the screen.
Download UNLOCKER from the link given above and install it. (you may need to restart the computer)
Right-click on the file you want to delete, and then click unlocker.
A new window opens showing all applications using this file.
Select all files, and then click on unblock.
Now right-click on the file you want to delete, and then click on remove.
YOUR FILE WILL BE DELETED SUCCESSFULLY.
If you are still unable to delete that file and unlocker shows no application, then follow these steps-
Right-click on the file you want to delete and click unlocker.
    A small window will appear.
In the drop-down list, choose delete, and then click ok.
Your file will be deleted on the next reboot of the system.
