Share drives between two different Virtual Machines

Hello all, I installed vmware workstation on both computers. Each have Windows Xp Sp3 as Windows Mellinium and host as a guest. I tried to share files between these two computers (Windows Mellinium) comments. In fact, I need to share the total C drive in the two comments. Help me guys, I thank you in advance.

Given that sharing should be enabled in the OS (Windows ME), I suggest that you take a look at "file sharing and printer" Microsoft documentation that can be downloaded from http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=12272asked. This document explains the steps required for different Windows operating systems (including ME) sharing of configuration files.

    2:Dlink dir 605 l,

    Hi Mohammed Ehsan Jourah,.

Thanks for posting the request in the Microsoft community forums.
I understand that you need to know how to make a wireless bridge between two different routers

What version of the operating system is installed on the computer?

To connect multiple computers, install a network adapter in each and run a network CAT5 cabling to connect each one to a hub (and thus the other.) The computer that will serve as a transition will have a standard network card for wired and a wireless network adapter that will connect to the wireless (WAP) access point or gateway on the second network.

A network bridge is software or hardware that connects two networks or more so that they can communicate. You can create only a single bridge network on a computer, but a bridge can handle any number of network connections.

You can try the steps at the bridge between two different routers wireless.
    a. determine the coverage area. When using two or more routers, the coverage area should be divided, and each router should be placed in a central location in each subdivision. If you add a wireless router to an existing network, this may mean moving the first router.
    b. decide which router is the main router. The main router is connected to the Internet, a LAN cable or other networks. It should be as close to the wired network connections or who has the best line of sight to another wireless network. In addition, the main router should be a high range router, allowing large tables of State and more users.
    c. buy a spare antenna, as the antennas that come with most routers do not have very good range. Quality omnidirectional antennas can push the range and signal strength of each of the routers, which, in turn, will reduce the cost by allowing routers less cover more space overall.
    d. deploy the primary router carefully. This router is the most important and requires most of the time of installation and options. Set the WEP (Protocol) encryption Service Set Identifier (SSID) and wireless, set up the Internet connection and test the router with some clients (computers). Once you get the main router deployed, deploy other routers should be easy.
    e. deploy the secondary routers, which must be configured to operate in "mode of transition." Secondary routers should be deployed around the perimeter of a large area or 'hot spots' where users placed - for example, will convene a bench Park or the table.

Let me know scenarios when different virtual machines with the same UUID created in VMware Hypervisors, aside from editing the .vmx file?

The only other way I've seen is when you manually copy the virtual machine to another location on the data store (or another data store) and then when turn on/off the virtual machine, select I moved, rather that I copied it (the default option).  This will keep the same UUID.

  • To cut and paste between Mac and Virtual Machine

My husband and I have VMware Fusion installed on our MacBooks. We use it to run WIndows XP.

His continues to have problems. Windows crash then left outstanding programs. Now, he can not copy / paste between Mac and Virtual Machine.

I can't find all the differences in our backgrounds. I'm not having problems he knows.

Any advice on how to solve this problem, so it can copy / paste between systems again?

Assuming that the MAC is stable and not giving any problems I try and see why the XP VM crashes and at least re - install VMWare Tools on XP because that is what is needed to copy and paste between host and guest operating system.

I remember correctly, there is a setting to allow work between applications. Also you must be sure flush() to save the data.

    Another option is LocalConnection.

  • Utility FNDLOAD between two different servers

    Hi friends,
For the phase of the UAT of our project, we have a new server (server with RedHat Linux ES4 HP).
We need to migrate reports form the unfounded (IBM - AIX 5.3 p) server to the new.
FNDLOAD works between two different servers?
If not, please tell me the reason why it doesnot work between servers.
I would also like to know if there is a way to migrate data between two servers.

As indicated in the documentation, it does not work between servers. You export the metadata and get an output file. Then, you take the output file and transfer it to the new source. Complete with examples, including the necessary part of XDOLoader.

  • How to share XP Home Edition and XP Professional edition between two different machines?

I have the OEM installation DVD and modes of action with product codes for each edition (XP Professional SP2 & XP Home Ed SP2).

I installed and activated them on two separate computers (a Mac Mini (XP Pro) and a MacBook Pro (XP Home) both running under Parallels). Now, I want to Exchange editions beween the two machines. How to activate one-"Windows XP on each machine, so I can re - install on another machine?"

    Thank you. Sayling

You cannot "turn off" Windows. Because these operating systems are running in virtual machines, you can simply move the virtual machines on the desired computers and start them, by removing the 'old' of their respective computers later. Usually, when I opened a back-up-and-move virtual machine with VMware Fusion/Workstation I get a message in the sense of "was this virtual machine, copied or moved? I say always "inappropriate" and VMware makes the necessary adjustments. Parallels will probably do the same thing. You can't even get a prompt to re-enable installs it XP, but if you do, it's no big deal. If the automatic activation does not work it just use the phone option, wait for a human to come on the line and tell them that you have uninstalled XP and reinstalled on the same machine and it is installed on a single computer. Technically, you will be in violation of the LICENSE agreement given that the license for an OEM version is linked to the computer on which it is first installed but things will still work. • Why is no longer a faster network between two different hosts?

    Hello community!

I need help in this mystery.

I have three computers different virtual, all of them with e1000 (also I tried all VMs with vmxnet3) and the latest vmware tools.

Two of this mV, are in the same physical host (ESXi 5.5.0 2068190). Call for example: VM - 1A & VM - 2A

Another virtual machine, is in another physical host (ESXi 5.5.0 2068190). Call VM-1 b

Both ESXi hosts are connected with two cards 10 Gbit network with load Balancing: "From hash IP route" and detection: "link status only.

Traffic Shaping is disabled in all Ports.

The environment is very clean, and we have more VMs that can disrupt the test (or inappreciable).

    VM - 1a: 10.12.50.201 - physical host ESX - A

    VM - 2A: 10.12.50.202 - physical host ESX - A

    VM-1 b: 10.12.50.200 - physical host ESX - B

Why I don't see better network speed reference, when two virtual machines send something two physical host is different than when the two virtual machines are in the same physical host?

It is not a question of "iperf", I used the other test with CPS and I had the same speed.

    Thank you very much!!!

PS: The physical host computers are: Dell PowerEdge r.620 - 16-core Xeon - 384GB RAM

    net_benchmark.png

Have you tried to move your VM on different hosts to the same host?

    Your names of:

    VM - 1 a host has

    -VM-1 b on Hots B

    ToDo

Now move VM-1B for A Host and repeat the test (two virtual machines on the same host). What happens now to the speed?

    Check

-How is the CPU usage during the test we Host-A, if you have 2 virtual machines on this host?

-What is your ratio of P2V CPU? (overprovisioning?)

    What it could be

-Host doesn't have enough CPU power to serve the two virtual machines (or over-provision P2V related problem). But for me no sense if I see your config server with 16cores.

-It is not a host but a related problem of VM (perhaps it depends on the VM - A2). Makes the most sense for me (your test is to check)

    Please share the results

  • How to share files on the isolated virtual machine?

I cloned a VM of production for some tests, so I don't want to connect it to our production network to avoid any conflict of IP etc. In this case, how can I transfer files between my PC and the cloned VM?

The VMtools has a shared folder, but it doesn't seem to work in ESX or ESXi. The only method I can think, at least for the transfer of files in this virtual machine is to convert the ISO on my PC folder so that I can connect as a virtual disk drive in the virtual machine. Are there other methods better to do this?

    Hello

There are several ways to move forward and keep a 100% isolated virtual machine...

    (1) marks a new connected to the VM source using hotadd VMDK. Place the data to be transferred to this new VMDK. Remove the VMDK and remove the source of the VM (hotremove or power down, change the config and startup). Once disassembled/not done part of source VMDK, attach the VMDK to the target VM and transfer files

    (2) use the suggested ISO/FLP method.

Or the other method could perhaps transfer viruses, etc. Not sure why you want to isolate, but do not consider this possibility, if the source files are infected, then the target is infected as well.

    (3) transfer the data via serial port connections. You can make a VM endpoint for anotehr VM setup of serial port devices.

    (4) mount a USB device in the source of the VM. Transfer the files. Dismount and mount the USB key to the target VM.

    (5) place the target VM on a private vSwitch (no connection to Teddy). Create a router/firewall VM and place it on the private vSwitch AND your normal network. Transfer the files through this device of firewall to the target VM. Make sure that the firewall is configured to NOT allow anything but the Protocol selected to cross. Proposed Protocol isn't ONLY SCP, no CIFS, FTP, etc... SCP is the safest to use.

The last of them will require that you trust your virtual firewall and that it is configured in such a way that anything on the private vSwitch cannot communicate with the outside world and that only the transfer of a file protocol is allowed. (or you can also allow RDP/VNC as requires it).

Many ways to reach this solution, but they all depend on HOW you want things to be isolated.

  • Move the HARD drive to the new virtual machine

I think it's a real simple question, so a simple answer is very well...

I currently have a computer virtual running windows server 2003 x 86.  This whole system is on C: and the D: is strictly files/shared user.  I need to upgrade this server 2 k 8 R2 x 64.  My plan is to detach the D: to the x 86 box, create a new x 64 VM and reattach the D: from the old server and re-create the shares.

My question is, when I do that, I would wait to see the security reset on the player?  As in the new operating system will reorganize the security on all of its default value...

Other issues anyone do with it?  Simple enough?  It is about 300 GB of user data, so I'm just a little nervous about it.  (it is supported of course however).

    Thanks for any info!

I think that when you remove the drive and re - join a new virtual machine, it will inherit the rights of the current operating system. It is the same concept as if you had a USB HDD shared, connected to a PC, removed and attached to another PC. You would lose your actions and all other settings.

You should not have problems - make sure to note all the shared available on disk as well as any special permissions (as denies explicit for Active Directory).

  • How to share a USB with a virtual machine raw device?

    Hey,.

I have a TEMPer PCSensor USB device I want to share with a virtual machine.

When he connect on my MacBook, I see it as a USB device in System Profiler as shown here:

The problem is that there is no OS X driver that is appropriate for that. So while it has detected the USB device and read data from string device, Snow Leopard is not actually load anything to support this material. This means, in my view, that he does not see merger as a USB device is valid to be shared with the virtual machine.

Does anyone know how to force the merger of share this USB without driver with the virtual machine please? The VM knows EXACTLY what to do with this device.

    Thank you

    Tom

If System Profiler can see the USB device, it should appear in the list of devices that can be connected to a virtual machine. The only exception is if it is a HID-class, which are automatically filtered device. See USB HID the User Guide running A VMware Fusion for an explanation and a workaround.
